Is MK really within walking distance of BLT? How long (in minutes) is it? Is it convenient?

Yes. There is a marked sidewalk all the way. I'd say about 10 minutes unless you walk very slow. Still a nice walk regardless.

Yes, it just takes a few minutes to walk over. We usually walk there in the morning, but sometimes take the monrail back at the end of the day when our feet are tired.

I like to walk at a brisk pace and it takes me about 8-10 min. Leisurely would be about 12-15 min.

Here is an overhead picture of the walkway from the Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower to the Magic Kingdom, so you can see exactly how it looks.

it is a short walk.

if you have a problems with hills - it is better to walk there and back than to ride the monrail.

no hills walking - big hill going back on the monrail.

As you can see, from the MK entrance to the further bus stops alone is equivalent to about 1/2 way to BLT-some perspective.

When I did my LIVE feeds for Kidani Village/Jambo House from Easter Sunday April 04-09, 2010 at

I made an appointment for the 1pm BLT member tour.

I walked leisurely in 18 minutes for the LIVE mobile streaming from the MK main entrance to BLT main entrance. Note: I walked leisurely because of few seconds video lag from iPhone 3G to CAM (viewer) of Ustream.tv

We were at the BLT last week and did try the walk both there and back. We thought it was an easy walk. We especially loved being able to walk back from MK after the fire works. So much better than waiting in the crowd for the monorail.

We found that it was quicker to walk from BLT than to go the walkway to the CR and then up to the monorail and then to the MK. Plus, it was a good bit of exercise for all that we ate while we were at Disney :) If you don't mind walking, I say definitely walk!!

I agree. I think it’s faster to walk than take the monorail. After the fireworks it's especially nice being able to get back to your resort quickly.

Does anybody ever wish they would restore Walt’s original plan to have a walkway completely around the lake? Guests of the Grand Floridian or Polynesian could really benefit from it since the resort monorail goes the wrong way for them when returning from MK.

:goodvibes

the EWP is the reason there is not a walkway from gf to MK.

between it and the monrail - there is not enough room to do it right.

the back end of the bus terminal is why there is not one to the Polyn.

some people do not look when they are at WDW. as disney has learned - they just walk. You just walk infront of a bus (who right of way it is ) and guess what you are dead. these things take longer to stop than a car. but cars still have not learned from the big trucks. Now it takes less time to stop than a big truck - but definitely more than a car.

so there are good reasons why the CR is the only one that can walk to the MK.

besides if they could all walk to it - why have the Mk resort monrail. there is not one at EPcot resorts for good reason. If you can walk why have a monrail.

Speaking of, be careful when you cross the street from BLT to MK bus lot. The "walk/don't walk" button hasn't been working the last couple days. People are jaywalking instead and some cars do zip around the corner. Make sure you hold onto the kids. I've seen one too many make a mad dash for the Castle.

I'm wondering for safety's sake and before someone gets hurt if they shouldn't just consider building an elevated pedestrian sidewalk at that intersection. If anyone has ever been to the Strip in Las Vegas they 've got them at the Strip and Tropicana and Flamingo so all pedestrian traffic has to walk over the roadways. But now that I think about it I wonder if the monorail would pass too close over head. Not sure. I know that I've croseed there a couple of times and there were plenty of people who didn't want to wait for the light and I did see one close call.

We may be staying at BLT next Mardi Gras.. it is going to be so awesome to WALK to the MK!!!
