BLT & Treeshouse DVC Announced

What if the minimum purchase is 100 (as it is with AKV right now) well then the prophesized $180 per point is coming to fruition. Doubtful, but still it is worth noting that $18,000 minimum buy in does not tell you how much it will be per point.

All the stories being published now have the same information attributed to DVD -- BLT will be at a premium with a minimum purchase price of $18,000 compared to the current minimum purchase price for AKV which is just under $17,000.

AKV at just under $17,000 is for 160 points; i.e., they are not referring to temporary deal at AKV of 100 points. If DVD is being quoted correctly that means BLT will be 160 points at $18,000 or $112.50 a point. Note, no one has even mentioned incentives yet or even if there will be any for BLT. If none, that $112.50 price is really $16.50 over AKV since you get $8 off the current AKV price when purchasing 100 points or more so it is a huge increase.

Anyone who buys beginning Sunday will get points that cannot be used until Sep 09 because the resort won't open until then (and they cannot be used for any other resort before then either). Wonder if they will have some kind of developer point incentive for this. In any event, all will become known in the next few days including point chart which they need to release before they begin to sell.

As to how long it will be on the market, Jambo, with 94 rooms sold out in about 15 months and it was reported as selling briskly. Unless complete market madness in sales sets in BLT is going to be around at least a year and likely a lot longer.

Uh oh... just watched the whole video and I'm not liking the room decor... have to watch it again... first impression is disappointment. :sad1: I really expected something 'WOW'... all I got was, 'eh'.

Here are some screen shots for people who can't get to the video...

I can only hope that the contemporary takes some strain off the system....as it seems incredibly overtaxed as it now stands....

I'm not sure the Treehouse Villas are a good idea.....

On the surface it appears they will be very nice, but consider this:

1. Saratoga is already far too big and overtaxing on the point system
2. The Treehouses are in a nice location - but in no man's land between port orleans and a golf course. they really aren't close enough to Saratoga's services to be considered part of the resort. That is problematic.
3. Saratoga already does not have good facilities for a DVC - more units only makes this problem worse.

I just don't know....why don't they just convert all the other hotels to DVC and make everyone buy a share? it would save on housekeeping....

Anyone else also notice that they continue to pump out DVC units with no new developments in attractions? none....

or are we supposed to thank our lucky stars for Toy Story Mania for the next 5 years like they've made us do with Everest?

...I know the answer to that: yes:wizard:

Aren't you an SSR owner "overtaxing" the system? (And by "overtaxing" do you mean "my waitlist didn't clear"?:lmao: )

I think SSR has very good facilities for the resort. I am not sure what you mean by "good facilities" ???

Back on topic,

I purchased AKV on day 1 and I am pretty sure I had a points chart.

Also, while the theory is that "better deals" were offered later I don't agree. I got the lowest price. The "better deal" was developers points for just a few bucks more per point. If you could use them it probably was a better deal, but I couldn't and I don't want to rent. So don't automatically assume that "the first deal won't be the best"

As to Wall Street... the nice thing Disney has going for it is that they can use CRO to rent unsold units. I think they think this one is going to be a home run and as a stockholder I would HOPE they don't over discount just because we are in a soft economy. I would think they would just "slow down" sales and finishing to get what it's worth. IT's the same reason my house isn't on the market. Why "fire sale" when if I wait a few years I think it will be back to a decent value?

Why? :confused3 The addition of treehouses still wouldn't make me buy Saratoga, especially if they are all large 3 bedroom villas. Anyone know for sure what sizes they will be?

I am just happy that HOPEFULLY the tree houses can be booked at 11 month window by SSR owners....because there is always SSR bashing so finally we have something that SSR bashers might want. :snooty: :rotfl2:

I didnt like the rooms either... too, dare I say, Contemporary for my tastes :lmao:
I didn't watch the video, I just couldn't get past the email. I'm not sure who DVC is marketing towards these days but that email completely turned me off.
I didnt get the email... can you cut and paste it here for those of us who are not worthy to get it directly from DVC... lol
I can't watch the video at work but could someone fill me in - do the rooms look like the current contemporary decor?

Peanut - can you share whatever you learn from your guide. I'm trying to contact mine as well.

Clean lines, squares, if you google Contemporary style, well, that's what it looks like. Browns, greens orange

I took pics from the you tube vidoe for those who cant watch it..

Not sure I like that room decor either.....never really liked it at CR way back when but have not stayed since they did remodels. I was a bit surprised with the decor to be honest in that video.

Okay dont' have much info since my guide had to go to another meeting.
This is all for current members
Point cost is $112. If you buy at least 100, there is a $5/pt credit.
Did not get info on whether there are developer points or minimum downpayment.
Three view types, standard, lake, and MK (about 20% of rooms)
1 BR MK view in Oct is 287 - weekend nights for that season are 56

They can take "preorders" now and submit the actual paperwork on sunday. Docs will be several weeks to reach us due to volume.

I like the look of the rooms so far, and not just because I really wanted to. I think it looks clean and crisp and I love the scarf on the king bed--doesn't that mean duvets?????

THANK YOU!!!!

And, I have to say, I'm in love  Has sort of a Bauhuas feel, very minimalist and clean - just what I like! Sadly, $112.5 is out of my league, so I'll be hoping for a major incentive... and a winning lottery ticket. ;)

I posted this on another thread (thanks to Laurabearz for pointing out the still shots here). I am definitely not "wow'd" or "feeling" the decor. That part of this new resort is sort of a letdown. It kind of, feels like the themeing/decor at POP Century (more upscale of course), but sort of bland ?
Location is the only draw for us right now and just not sure that's enough. Does anyone know what kind of other amenities they'll have (besides the the lounge on the top floor and the new pool area ) ? It may be posted somewhere but I didn't see it.

Really?! I guess I should wait to make up my mind if I like the decor until I see it in person. My 1st impression was the opposite! LOL! :lmao:

I wonder if Disney did this to boost resales of SSR to maintain the integrity of DVC as a whole. Many have speculated that it wouldn't make sense for DVD to improve a resort that is already sold out, but I think the Treehouses will absolutely boost SSR resales and that's good for everyone.

I don't think it is so much about resales, but perhaps more about bolstering pricing. Some resort is going to be at the bottom of the pricing pile, but SSR (love it or leave it) has experienced, I think, a disparity in pricing great enough that it weighs on the whole pricing strucure. This is a pretty nifty antidote.
