BLT & Treeshouse DVC Announced

This is exciting!
The op's newspaper article said that current DVC owners will get first crack at it. How long does that usually last? I wonder if there will be anything left after that? We've been holding out buying DVC and DH is exstatic about this annoucement! 300 units doesn't sound like a lot to me :confused3 does anyone know how many DVC units are in AKV?

AKV has a total of 458 units (134 @ Jambo and 324 at Kidani).

Thanks! I guess I'm trying to figure out the odds of us actually being able to purchase :) We're not fond of the 'style' of the CR but we are definetly fond of it's location in comparision to AKV. Now what about any incentives.....we've got a trip planned for Jan and would definetly apply all of that $$ to purchase BLT if we could get enough builder points to cover that stay and possibly one more, just in case BLT isn't finished by Jan 2010.

I wonder if we will get any incentives or will the $112 be the price we have to pay? Either way I'm a happy camper, its better than the huge price that was predicted. Now to see those points charts ...........

Do you think our guides or DVC will be contacting us in anyway to tell us and offer us the opportunity to buy? Or are we left to our own devices?

:cool1: Thanks for posting the info! We won't be buying in at $112/pt though.
I'm happy to hear there will be 300 units- maybe booking at the 7 month window won't be impossible.

We NEED Point Charts!!! :dance3: I'm excited to see the BLT models in a few weeks! (I'm assuming they will be open if sales start Sunday.) I bet the DVC suits didn't sleep very well last night after the day on Wall Street. :faint: It will be interesting to see if there are any 'incentives' that they didn't initially plan on giving? :surfweb: I'm waiting to see if my guide call me - I've been on 'the list' for over a year. ;)

Ah, good point! I have no intention of buying any more points as we have plenty as is, but I would like to stop in to see the models when we're there next month if the models will be open. Probably at Saratoga again in that same building with AKV models?

Anyone know if the treehouse villas are 3 bedrooms? I'm thinking back to info I read months ago about them and I think I remember reading they were all 3 bedrooms. I'm only about 40% sure on that though.

Hmmm... I'm thinking SSR points will gain some point value with having the treehouses. Imagine trying to book one of those at 7 months. Not likely.

I agree. I would not stay at SSR in anything other than the treehouses (maybe.) My husband has fond family vacation memories of the treehouses back in the 1970's. My bet is he'd like to stay in them at least once. Not sure if they will be so exclusive though that they aren't ever available at 7 months.

I can't wait to see the point chart for BLT. Not sure if we'll add on there or not. DH and I have talked about it before-I guess its time to revisit that conversation again. ;)

I want to see how they split out the views. It's only fair to BLT owners to split out the MK views.

There will definitely be some left. According to the filed budget someone posted the other day, they based it on 75 units declared for next year.

What if the minimum purchase is 100 (as it is with AKV right now) well then the prophesized $180 per point is coming to fruition. Doubtful, but still it is worth noting that $18,000 minimum buy in does not tell you how much it will be per point.

I can only hope that the contemporary takes some strain off the system....as it seems incredibly overtaxed as it now stands....

I'm not sure the Treehouse Villas are a good idea.....

On the surface it appears they will be very nice, but consider this:

1. Saratoga is already far too big and overtaxing on the point system
2. The Treehouses are in a nice location - but in no man's land between port orleans and a golf course. they really aren't close enough to Saratoga's services to be considered part of the resort. That is problematic.
3. Saratoga already does not have good facilities for a DVC - more units only makes this problem worse.

I just don't know....why don't they just convert all the other hotels to DVC and make everyone buy a share? it would save on housekeeping....

Anyone else also notice that they continue to pump out DVC units with no new developments in attractions? none....

or are we supposed to thank our lucky stars for Toy Story Mania for the next 5 years like they've made us do with Everest?

...I know the answer to that: yes:wizard:

I was thinking along these same lines. The article stated that Disney would annouce this today, would it be resonable to assume that points charts, price per point and other specific info will be given today?

Interesting perspective... I hope they are comparing to 160 points.

Strange that it goes on sale Sunday and there are SO many questions left to answer...

Point charts
Per point costs
Minimum point buy-in

I haven't read through everything... but I've seen posts both ways. Do we know for sure if the Treehouses are an SSR "addition" or a separate entity?

I was thinking the same thing.....

even with a bad economy - i don't see them selling a monorail spot for 112 or 120 a night....that just doesn't seem to click.

As far as the question about AKV...i think there are a total of 458 units when complete...

that puts it third in size to Saratoga and Old Key West

and i guarantee that they have ALOT of units left to sell....which may effectively stop when people have the choice between contemporary and AKV

I was thinking that very thing...but didn't want to be the first to say it.:rotfl:

The $112.50 is within the "guesses"...and the $180 might be, too.:scared1:
