I am renting points from a DVC member. Can I go to the Top of the tower lounge? I keep hearing different things. I am hoping so because I would like to take the kids to see Wishes from there one evening.
THANKS!

It's currently only available to members who are staying at BLT on points and their guests staying with them.

Everyone keeps saying something different. Does anyone have a number I can call to get the correct answer?

If your KTTW card says DVC member on it, then you should be allowed into the lounge.

Last time I was there, that is what they checked. If you don't have that notation on the card, then you probably won't be allowed to head up (unless there are different rules when you arrive and with DVC things can change).

Good luck and have a great trip!

I think if you try to call, you will be told the official policy and that is DVC members and their guests staying on points.

I don't think you will know for sure until you get there and try to use the lounge. But I have read that renters who had the DVC designation on the KTTW card were able to head up.

I've heard that too actually. I guess it's just luck whether or not your KTTW card will says member on it. If it does, give it a shot! I wonder if they've ever asked anyone for their membership card?

Got the answer!! Anyone using points (renting or owners) will be allowed to access the lounge!!! YAY!!!!:cool1:

According to DVC, it will say it on my card! I will have same privleges as an owner of DVC since I am renting points from one!

Just to spare you possible disappointment....you don't get all the privileges of being an owner just by renting from one. It is true that you may be allowed into the lounge if you have DVC member on your resort ID. But, in order to use many of the other membership perks (discounts, etc), you may be asked to present the blue membership card, which you will not have. On my last few trips, it seems that they've been asking for the membership card more often than they used to.

Sometimes they check for the card, sometimes they don't. Assume you won't get the perks, and consider it good luck if you do. :)

Well truthfully, the only thing I wanted was to make sure we can view the fireworks from the Top of the Tower lounge. Sounds like we can!
Thanks.

I just read this on allears.net

Where is the best place to view the Wishes fireworks show?

Breathtaking views can be had of the Wishes fireworks show from the 16th floor Fireworks Viewing Area adjacent to the Top of the World lounge. They can also be seen from rooms overlooking the Magic Kingdom. The Sky Bridge also boasts spectacular views of the festivities.

So is this different then the Top of the World Lounge? Is this for anyone staying at BLT?

The viewing area is outside the lounge, but is basically the same place. You can sit in the lounge and watch or stand outside.

But, when people talk about the TOWL, they are talking about both so its only open to DVC.

The BLT viewing deck and Top of the World Lounge have the same access requirements. Anyone staying at BLT can access the sky bridge and view the fireworks there.

Is the sky bridge on the 16th floor as well?

The sky bridge is the bridge connecting Contemporary (4th floor) with BLT (5th floor). On our last night at BLT, we watched fireworks from the skybridge. On one side was the fireworks, on the side we could see the Contemporary's outdoor movie being played.

We liked the fireworks from the skybridge, but thought watching the fireworks from TOTWL/observation deck was better. I'm not sure, but you may also be able to see some of the Epcot and DHS fireworks from the skybridge.

I vowed never to go to WDW after spending one year at WDW during NYE. With BLT and the fireworks viewing options, I'm rethinking that. Can't wait to hear what people staying at BLT during NYE think of watching the fireworks without the crowds.

Got the answer!! Anyone using points (renting or owners) will be allowed to access the lounge!!! YAY!!!!:cool1:

1) As a renter, your room key is no different than an owner.
2) So, yes, you the answer is correct.
3) You ARE allowed in the lounge.

The official policy for access to the top of the world lounge is:

"DVC Members and their guests staying at Bay Lake Towers using their membership."

What this means:

1) Any DVC member and anyone staying with them at BLT on points.
2) Any DVC member and anyone staying with them at BLT using a room booked on cash THROUGH member services (25% discount).
3) Any DVC renter and anyone staying with them at BLT on points.

A DVC member and anyone staying with them at BLT using a cash room booked through CRO MIGHT be able to talk their way in to the lounge by showing their room key and blue DVC membership card.

The only thing they check is your room key. They look for the resort code, the date, and "DVC" printed on the front. They DO NOT check your blue membership card for access to the top of the world lounge.

In order to qualify for any DVC discounts on merchandise, food, and services (tours, massage, etc.) you are supposed to be a DVC member or physically with a DVC member at the same time that member is also enjoying the discount. There are no discounts on park tickets for any non-DVC members at any time, with or without a DVC member present.

I JUST got back from BLT and rented points as well.

My card said DVC member on it, and YES, I was able to access the lounge, wash clothes for free, access the skywalk, and even get free movie rentals.

So the answer to your question is yes, from experience.

Have an amazing time!

I just thought I would let everyone know that when we were there 12/5-12/13 we went to the lounge several times and was asked to see our DVC membership card each time (in addition to our room key).
