The price is $112 per point . Existing members can buy a minimum of 25 points. $5 discount available - I believe it is a gift card. I am not sure if the $112 already factors in the discount. Founder brick for 160 points or more. More details to come. Points charts are out but guides have not been given approval to email them.

BLT is in the point calculator on the member site! I just worked up the info and got the points per night for the room type I want.

I was just on the member site and all I could find were the points at the contemporary under disney collection. I didn't see bay lake tower listed. Can you help me find it?:confused3

Use the points calculator. That's how I brought it up.

no studios? high points....

No - these are just what I'm interested it. There are studios, 1-bedrooms, 2-bedrooms & grand villas listed in all view categories.

Go to the Points Calculator. BLT is at the bottom of the drop down list of DVC resorts! :goodvibes

I went to the points calculator on the members' site and did some comparisons too. I was going to stay at the BWV-standard studio in December for 2 nights @ 29 points. The same dates are 35 points at BLT in a standard studio. So not too much higher than I thought. Though in a comparison, the points are higher than all of the other planned trips I have. I'm looking at the WLV for 5 nights @ 70 points, whereas BLT would cost 85 (standard studio).

If I can just buy 100 I will do it. I already have 610 points, and may be unloading a few of my smaller contracts (BWV).

Looks like there will be 3 views - standard, lake, MK.

A standard view for a October weeknight in a studio is 12 points, lake view 15 points, MK view 18 points. To compare, a BWV standard is 9 points, BW view 12 points.

Based on some weird math I like to do:

$107/pt (assuming $5 discount).
$3.70/MF year

Divided by 7 trips =
$107/7 = $15.28/pt

$15.28+$3.70= $18.98/pt for 1st 7 trips ($19)

15 pts for lake view Studio = $285 for a studio night

So the payback for BLT comes much SOONER than 7 trips. Its really not a bad deal.

Read that standard views make up 11% of the rooms

Lake views are 69%

Magic Kingdom views are 20%.

Looks like the SV are going to be especially tough to get if you don't call right at 11 months. Total resort will have 295 2 bedroom -equivalent units. Assume that means lock off units like BWV. Can't find anything that says whether there will be any dedicated units of any size.

1. Let's assume your trips take place over 7 years. Dues should then be $25.90 not $3.70. Point cost over that 7 years is now $41.18 not $18.98.

2. New cost $629

Now if you take your 7 years and divide it out to 10, 20 etc. the cost per night starts to drop

At 10 years using the above your point cost is $10.70. Your dues over that time would have cost $37. (Assuming no rise which is not really realistic, but...) New cost 40.70 cost per night is now $610. At 20 years it goes to

Gotcha... I see what you are doing. You are cumulating the Maintenance Fees.

To me, Maintenance Fees are a 1 year cost. Once and done. I pay MF for 2009, I use points in 2009. I don't keep "counting" the MF in my costs for 2010 room rates.

Here's another way to look at it. If I go to Contemporary for the next 7 years and stay the same number of nights at the same time of year on my points - it will cost me the following EACH YEAR in beginning of November:

Studio equivalent Lake View
DVC:
$15.28 (point cost divided by 7) + MF of $3.70 = $19/pt for Studio = $285

Rack Rates (based on current 2008 pricing online):
$580/night for Standard Room in the Tower

So EACH year my room will cost me $285 via DVC.
After 7 years - I "effectively" paid off my points. Now my room costs me only MF * Points.

Its just a way to see how quickly you are saving money. Its not a total calculation of costs. Thats why its a yearly view. You don't accumulate the MFs.

Another point - If you wanted to calculate it this way you could - but you would need to take your total number of points and multiply them by 7. Why? Because you used your points 7 times during those 7 years. The initial point cost was a 1 time expense. But the MF and # of uses increases each year.

Its actually really hard to make the math work because you have 2 yearly items (MF and # of users) and 1 fixed item (buy-in costs).
