Received an e-mail on new incentives for BLT. Not much info though. Does anyone know about it? It gives an amount of up to $1,200.00 off.

What does it say specifically? WE haven't received anything yet.

I got the same email today. It just said $1280 or more at BLT. Offer ends 6/15/09. Wasn't sure if it as a good deal or not.

Not sure what the base points you will need to purchase for that savings. It

Current incentives are giving you a certain $ amount off and then if you have a DVC referral you get money $ or a Cruise. I will try to find the current incentives for you guys.

Found Em:

This is the current Incentives going for purchasing the DVC through Disney.

New Incentive effective 4/1......

New contracts:
$8. discount off $112. for GC & BLT
$10. discount off $112. for AKV
$13. discount off $112. for SSR/THV

These "new owner" incentives are good only with an "existing member referral"..

Existing/New members: (same as the previous incentive)
existing members Add on 100 pts: a 3 night cruise for 4 (160 for newbies)
existing members Add on 125 pts: a 4 night cruise for 4 (200 for newbies)
existinf members Add on 200 pts: a 7 night cruise for 4 (270 for newbies)

OR

These "new owner" incentives are good only with an "existing member referral"..

Newbie..
Take an additional $$ off the already discounted price....
160 pts take $6.
200 pts take $8. etc...

Existing member...
Buy 100 pts take an additional $6. off the discounted price.
Buy 125 pts take an additional $8. off the discounted price.

So...buying into BLT as a newbie...there can be a $14. discount off the original $112. price.

As always call your guide for more "official" answers

I got the same email, and it is for a credit of $1280 or more! Which is $8 per point off a 160 point contract. Isn't that the current incentive w/o a member referral? And with the cruise? just a new spin on and old incentive.

I'm at the world now and talked to a family on a bus today that just bought BLT for $96 a point with a referral bonus. That sounded like a really good price to me!

I definately think the current incentive is better than the upcoming incentive

I am at WDW and just added BLT @ $96 per point. The guides are saying this will end on June 15th.

I was just at SSR this weekend and got an offer for a 3 or 4 night cruise with the purchase of an addiotional 100points. I wish i would have known that when i bought into BLT in Decemeber! :)

The incentive that I posted just started in April. Incentives every few months.

Could you tell me please how you got $96 a point? Was it so much off per point? Or did you have to buy a certain amount of points to get it at that price?

Also, what is the "referral bonus" the pp mentioned? If I wanted to buy points, should I look into trying to get a referral first? How do I do that?

Yes, you can get the name of a current member and use their name as a referral for your DVC. If you go to the referral thread, you can find the names of people who are willing to act as a referral for you. When you find someone you would like to use, just click on their name and send them a PM.

As the buyer, it opens up more incentives. For the member, they get a referral bonus from Disney.

For new buyers, you can get BLT for as low as $96.00 per point if you buy at least 200 points. At 160, you can get it at $98.00 per point. It is definitely beneficial to have a member's name when you contact a guide (there are also cruise incentives instead of some of the point reduction).

I love BLT and added on points in April when the incentives came out. I will be adding on another 50 in a few weeks and I think the current prices are great!

Good luck!!!

I would be happy to be your referral, when you decide to purchase. Let me know.

You should absolutely look into using a referral. Essentially, the current "deal" through Disney is $8 off per point. However, if you use a member referral, you will receive either a cruise or an additional $6 off per point for purchases up to 199 points and an additional $8 per point for purchases of 200+ points. Keep in mind that the incentives are given as a credit against the purchase price and you will have to put down 10% of the full purchase price ($112 x number of points you are planning to buy).

The "referral bonus" simply refers to a kickback that DVC gives its members for referrals (a gift card). Some DVC owners will split that bonus with the new member who refers them. Just check out the member referral thread to find someone to use as a referral.

Best of luck to you!! :goodvibes

Is it silly to ask why Disney will give a better deal if you have a referral from an existing member? I mean, what's the benefit for them? It's not like they will contact the existing member and ask, "Is this person a good candidate to own DVC," or will they?

I think that pre-Internet, referral incentives were given as a way for DVC to "take care" of the friends or family of existing members - - a true insider secret perk. Now, it's a way for us DISers to take care of each other...which isn't so bad either. :lmao:

Any advice for somebody looking to buy at BLT? I was told by a DVC rep that I can buy at $98/point (with referral). Does this seem like a good deal or am I better off waiting??

Looking at a Two-Bedroom vacation home and we usually stay between 5-7 nights - not sure about what "view" to purchase as of yet, but leaning towards Bay Lake View.

I would appreciate any advice.

Yes with a referral you can get the price down to $ 96.00 a point depending on the amount of points. Here is a website that will outline the new incentives. www.dvcnews.com

Should you wait? Good question and one no one could answer. There are always incentives. The current ones are very attractive with the discount on points and free cruise. It is a personal choice but there will probably always be an incentive.

See the point chart at the top of this page and this will help you determine the # of points needed for a 2 bedroom at BLT during the time you want to travel.

Good luck

Hmmmm, looking at the point charts, a 2 bedroom, standard view for 7 nights will run you between 270-461 points, depending on season. The lake view for a 2 bedroom will be 298-509 points.

You can actually do a bit better than $98/point with a referral if you buy more than 200 points. If you buy 200+ points, your incentive with a referral will increase to $16 off per point, or $96/point. As to whether or not to wait, that's purely a personal call. If you are ready to buy, the incentives are rumored to go away on June 15th, so it might be wise to go ahead and buy. That said, if the incentives do get better on June 15th, if your contract has not yet closed, you can amend your contract to take advantage of the new incentives.

Just post any specific questions or concerns you may have and you will get good feedback from those here on the Boards.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input.

After reading some other posts - I am leaning towards the MK view as well. Any else buy the MK view? Seems like that will be a very special view to have from BLT.

I really need to pick a season next. Typically we go to Disney in the fall when the crowds are fairly light so looking at the Choice Season.
