Does anyone know if DVC opened the top of BLT to other DVC members, not staying at BLT, to see fireworks or grab a drink? I would hope by now they would realize there would be a lot more buisness up there if they did.:woohoo:

TOTW is still restricted to Members staying at BLT.

If people want to go and get a drink at a nice lounge and watch the fireworks, they can always visit the bar at California Grill. I personally like the fact that it is restricted access, and I would hate to be staying at BLT and be locked out from it because it was at maximum capacity from people not staying on site.

I agree. If it isn't busy enough, I'd rather see it opened to anyone staying at BLT first, guests at CR second. There are just too many DVC villas now...it would be swamped every night.

Mostly I wish they would get the word out that it exists. Everyone on the DIS knows about it and there has been mention of it in DisneyFiles, but I still think there are probably members staying there who know nothing of it. It's not mentioned in the literature you get at checkin.

the literature is not only for DVC members - it is for everyone.

that would only cause more hurt feeling by non-DVC members.

as far as allowing others - definitely BLT guests regardless of paying or points - that say not sure about CR guests.

have you ever seem the deck over there at CG - it is a bunch of people. since BLT gets the better views - my opinion - then TOW would be even more crowded.

would almost allow other DVC members staying elsewhere - but of course then would want the pool at bc/bcv/bwv - open to all members too.

Well the California Grill also has restricted access to watch the fireworks up there for those guests with ADR's that evening. Now you can also ask at their 2nd floor check-in if they have room at the bar depending on how busy the restaurant is, however there is also a chance they could say no to going up there. So the only location where you are guaranteed to watch Wishes from is the 4th floor observation deck at the Contemporary, since it's open to anyone wanting to out over there.

they put the benches back on the 4th floor so there is seating again at the CR.

It's still restricted to DVC members and their guests staying at BLT on points.

I too think they need to reconsider and open the TOTWL to all guests staying at BLT. And if that doesn't work, open it to all DVC members. It says right in our BLT POS that the TOTWL does not belong to the DVC. And that Disney has the right to do whatever they want with it. If it gets too crowded they can restrict it again. I think members not staying at BLT won't come that often after the initial rush as it takes too long to get there from another resort. And if you come too late you might not get in. Of course to let other DVC members in they'll have to do something about needing a KTTW card to just get into the building.

I think they don't want to go through the trouble of opening it up to DVC members not staying at BLT. If they did that, how would those people get it? The resort is key-card access for guests, so that creates an issue of people waiting to get in, needing to hire a door attendant at entrance, people invariably wandering around outside and then not being able to get back in, etc. They could more easily open it up to any BLT guest, but I think they'd rather maintain the exclusivity as a selling point. (though it's a weak selling point IMO)

Of course, if it is financially unsuccessful, who knows what we'll see happen. (but again, I say it'd be easier to open it to BLT guests)

Actually it may be very easy to get in. We stayed there this past Sun and Mon night and every time we took the skybridge from the Contemporary, the doors were always open so anyone could come in. Also the attendant in the lobby just checks to see if your room key says DVC Member but doesn't check that you are actually staying in the resort. So unless there is a secret number on the room key that signifies BLT, if a DVC member staying on property gets in through the skybridge, then they may be able to get into TOTW.

There is a way to tell by the card numbers; it isn't a secret to CMs. That's how pool attendants at BC/YC know that people are guests entitled to use the pool just by looking at their KTTK.
