Blowing bubbles? yes or no

Also wanted to remind people not to use bubbles inside. That residue can get on the floor and make it very slippery. I have found this out the hard way, not at Disney, but at home.

Sometimes I think that all people do on these boards is sit around and wait for soemthing new to complain about. Bubbles? really? Disney produces bubbles themselves! I have the greatest picture of my DD running around in front of the train station through the bubbles. Do people really walk around WDW, the "happiest place on earth" being annoyed by things that other people do? I would love if I was next to you while we were wating for a parade or a ride and you brought this out. You can not walk around being worried that you are going to offened someone because if you read these boards long enough you're going to be scared to do anything!

Okay, I'll bite. No, I don't sit at home and wait for something to complain about. Nor do I sit here and just wait for someone to mention something so I can comment negatively on it.
BUT...if someone posts something, on a public discussion board, and I have an opinion? Yes, I'm going to comment. Do I walk around the 'happiest place on earth' looking for problems? No, of course I don't. But, when my glasses have sticky stuff all over them, from bubbles hitting them, or my dd has a red and painful eye due to bubbles hitting her full in the face in an attraction que?? Yes, I'm going to be very unhappy in 'the happiest place on earth'. I'm sorry there are those who fail to understand what some here are saying.

The vast majority of posters have said fine, use your bubble gun. But do it in the more open areas, where others can see it. That way, if there is an issue with bubbles, they can detour around it.
But in line for an attraction??? Where it tends to be a bit darker so you don't really know what's going on??? No...not the place for bubbles. Way too crowded and no possible way for people to avoid the bubbles if they are being used nearby.

So, yes, you should be concerned about those around you. It's common courtesy.

Nope. I don't want bubbles on my clothes, glasses or camera. Bubbles can make the ground slippery too which would be an even bigger hazard in the attraction line.

I wanted to add another comment since I noticed people are mentioning the CM's who use those things: I avoid the CM's who are doing the bubble thing which would be impossible to do in an attraction line.

I'm fine with bubbles at home outside, my kids used them when they were little but I've always felt they don't belong in theme parks and I wish the CM's wouldn't use them.

ah 'the happiest place on earth' arguement.

I can see where you are coming from, I can agree that some things are blown out of proportion on these boards. To many the idea of getting ate up over bubbles may be absurd.... but if you read the majority of the posts correctly you will see that some people have had issues with bubbles. The OP asked a genuine question to which got genuine responses.

So what where people supposed to do? Ignore the OP and no answer their question?

No they did what they were supposed to do on a public forum, they responded. Now if you want to walk around WDW in fear of offending someone then thats a little daft. All anyone was asking for was a little consideration for others around them.

I'm not aiming my post at you, so please do not think that. I'm just giving my take on some points you and others have raised.

I would add though that if people were not considerate enough for others feelings/experiences then they probably aren't going to be bothered by what people say. It's a shame but there are always going to be people who don't give a thought to others.

To those who say "but Disney makes the bubbles and sells the guns!"...Disney sells alcohol too but doesn't expect you to walk around drunk and spilling things on others. Disney sells little kid underwear but doesn't expect you to let them run around wearing only that.

And yes, you'd think this should be a common sense thing but nowadays common sense isn't common.

Ya know what? If a child playing with bubbles shot a few in my direction AND one got my eye and another stained my pristine cotton Mickey tee AND I slipped on the ground where a HUGE pile of bubbles had burst, oh AND my skin became irritated, inflamed and riddled with pus filled sores---I would hate bubbles.

As that probably won't happen, I'll artfully (well, as artfully as I can) dodge the bubbles that I don't catch and, if annoyed by said bubbles, either move myself out of the way or ask the bubble felon to please cease and desist.

OP, I'm assuming you're not gonna let junior shoot these devils at my eyes and while standing <1 foot away from me:confused3. So it's all good--just use common sense:wizard:

I was thinking along those lines too. I was thinking Disney sells play swords but I wouldn't let my kids run around stabbing people with them.

Unfortunately you are right, common sense is not as thick on the ground as it used to be.:sad2:

Yes, people do walk about being annoyed by things other people do. And then they come to the DIS and post about how xx "ruined" their trip. One thing I learned from the Dis is ANYTHING you do inline (or in the park) will annoy someone. That doesn't mean do whatever you want, as there is nothing wrong with thinking of others and following rules. But sometimes the DIS takes things too far.

And for what it is worth, bubbles are not "something new to complain" about. The same people have been complaining for years. Personally, I have never seen people complain about bubbles any place other than the DIS.

I have seen CM's blowing bubbles EVERYWHERE. There are attractions that blow bubbles, some even drop from the sky (so no "escaping" them) while you are seated. Bubbles are blown in the close confines of parades and at turnstiles. They are blown at shop entrances and at playground entrances. I have even seen CM's blowing bubbles at the line entrances.

I guess I must be very lucky because after many years of prolonged exposure to bubbles, I have never had one pop in my eye, stain my clothes, cause me to fall, or ruin my camera. I have had the pleasure of seeing the joy on many faces from the "magic" of bubbles.

bubble felon?:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh TAG FAIRY!!!! LOL

And in the end, what it comes down to is that we on the Dis are the enlightened few ;) and the thousands upon thousands of other guests at Disney will always be running amok, trying to ruin our vacation. WWWD? :rotfl:

I wouldn't do it on a line where people are not able to get away from it or the bubble are going to directly hit people.

However....

Last year at Seaworld, they were selling these cute bubble guns (and the person selling them was blowing them out showing people how they work) and my daughters wanted them. So we got them and they used them as we walked around the park. This was towards the end of the day so we were pretty much on our way out.

At one point, my wife went to do something (forgot if it was to buy something or the bathroom) and my youngest (3 at the time) was in the stroller and was using the bubble gun straight into the ground. This was a large walkway in a corner of the park so people could easily avoid the bubbles, specially since they weren't flying but just building up on the ground into a bubble mountain.

Most people laughed and pointed as the walked by staring at the bubble mountain (this wasn't a busy location so it was a slow trickle of people) saying OMG or letting out a giggle.

Anyway, the point was that if they employees use and sell these things in the park then the consumers are more than welcome to use them in the park. Just be considerate of the people around you and don't use them in crowded or tight spaces.

As far as people with allergies go, those people should probably be in a bubble themselves.

I was with you, until this. Really? This was not necessary or nice.:sad2: I have crazy sensitive skin, as do others in my family. It is not fun to get something on you and have your skin freak out. It is not as simple sometimes as washing the offending chemical off. Your skin can keep reacting to it for weeks.

You didn't really just say that!?!

Break out the popcorn:: boys, it's going to be a bumpy night!

This. I had a contact allergy on my right hand last week. I still have hives up my entire right arm 9 days later

I could waste my time telling you your comment was not only insensitive but just plain STUPID, but I wont. :rolleyes1

However, I will tell you I hope you or a family member never have to wait and hope for an eye transplant or suffer from a sight losing injury.
You know, the surgery and possible rejection and cost of a hundred grand....

Hope you never have to face it.

:sad2:

I LOVE when a person is polite enough to ask about something, gets replies, then says that they will not do xyz and people continue to lecture that person. It really makes others want to ask questions too.

If you don't mine my child crying because we don't have one and she wants to pull the trigger too.......or that she is jumping up and down and bumping into your child.........

Really, what is wrong with teaching your child to stand in line correctly or patiently?

I have had three kids and rarely do you have a problem waiting in line for a ride. When we do, we know it's time to back to the hotel.

On one of our trips last year we were in line for Kilimanjaro Safari. There was a little girl in a stroller ahead of us, maybe 2 years old with a bubble gun. The parents weren't paying one bit of attention to her and she was just holding her finger on the trigger constantly so the bubbles kept coming out. They were going all over the place and finally the couple in front of her (that was getting covered in bubbles) turned and asked the parents if she could stop. They took the gun from her, which made her scream and cry. Had the parents been paying attention like they should, it probably never would have happened. Thankfully they took the gun from the girl because it was annoying many people around them.
