Blowing bubbles? yes or no

So last summer I actually bought my bubble gun from DISNEY at the MAGIC KINGDOM prior to the parade. I purchased it and then proceeded to entertain about a dozen kids for an hour prior to the parade. I used, they used it. We were sitting on the curb in the circle in front of the train station and there were not many people actually in the road where we were shooting it. No one complained, no one seemed offended and several of the parents actually thanked me for letting their children in on the fun.

I think using it in line would be bad and annoy many, but like everything, there is a time and a place for it all.

On 20+ trips over the last 15 years, I don't think I've noticed people blowing bubbles in the parks and certainly not while waiting in ride lines. I'm surprised to hear that this was going on "everywhere."

They sell the bubble guns at WDW and I've seen cast members in several places using them. During our last trip last month, the cast member at the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean was blowing bubbles, which I thought was strange. My son, however, loves them and asks for the bubble gun whenever he sees it.

Like others, I know I would be annoyed if someone was blowing bubbles while waiting in line. Thanks for asking first. :thumbsup2

I would have been thanking you too. lol. my kids are not good waiters.
Kids were blowing bubbles in dumbo last time and all the parents were greatful I think. (But like I said earlier, the thought of allergies and what not didn't really cross my mind and I am sure the lady who brought the bubbles probably didn't think about it either)

Thank you for asking. I don't care for the bubble as I have skin allergies to soap & I am limited on what can come in contact with my skin. Also I found that the fan misters can be irrating as well. yes it is coolong but some people do not care for the mist no matter the temp [We used them on soccer field during tourments]. Good luck on the trip & enjoy the magic

Disney sells them now. I never thought I could hate bubbles. Then I stood next to a family who used 20 containers of the Disney bubble juice in an hour...

I was coated in the crap.

Another idea besides the hidden mickey book (which I also like to use) is to play the alphabet game, Disney style. One time through could be character names, then Disney movies, etc. We played it a lot during our last trip (especially during the hour wait for Fantasmic) and it was fun. Some letters aren't as easy as you would think!

I as a 30 yr old adult do the alphabet game in meetings at work. Sometimes I even write them out it makes it look like I'm really paying attention. ;)

LOL sorry about that. i can totally picture it. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the hidden Mickey and Alphabet tips, whoever posted those.

Sweet baby Jesus in the manger...NO.

It's annoying to those trapped in close quarters to you. The bubbles can leave a soapy residue on clothes, hands, skin. They can be irritating to eyes and skin. If it has been raining or wet, they can cause an unsafe slippery surface.

And did I mention it's annoying?

:rotfl2: I think the Tag Fairy needs to come visit you again!

Sorry to burst your bubble...but yes, I use the bubble guns and we love it. We typically pull it out only when we're waiting for parades, fireworks, and in line at the opening of the park. Mine is a light up bubble gun so we typically only carry it around at night.

My guess is only a small percentage of people (higher here on the Dis) dislike them. Everytime we've brought ours out, we get smiles and the kids around us are thrilled. We also do nasty, annoying things like hand out glow in the dark bracelets.

One time we were waiting for MSEP and my son played with our bubble gun for about an hour. The vast majority of it was piled on one specific patch of ground where he was building bubble "towers". We engaged the kids next to us and kept them happily occupied during that hour too. I did monitor his use and we did our best to ensure he wasn't annoying folks next to us. We used it at Fantasmic where we went an hour and a half early. It was so much fun and we were joined by quite a number of kids.

Now if someone hates bubbles, all they have to do is come up to us and politely say, "I have a skin allergy - would you mind not blowing the bubbles near me?". Or "The bubbles are affecting my camera - would you mind blowing the bubbles in a different direction or a different location?" or else "The wind is blowing all the bubbles in my direction and I'm getting coated in bubble liquid. Would you mind doing this somewhere else?". We would stop, move, or monitor our use much more carefully.

Cast members blow bubble guns all over the place and few people are annoyed - don't see why we can't blow bubble guns ourselves.

I don't understand why the tiny minority of people who have problems with bubbles can't speak up politely. The vast majority of people will likely be happy to stop if spoken to nicely and politely. The tiny number of rude people that won't stop with a polite request.....won't care even if they are ranted against on a message board. there's nothing much at all you can do about those rude people other than avoid them.

Now, if someone yells at me about my bubble gun, it is quite possible I will ignore them and keep playing with it as there are no rules at Disney against them. Hey - they SELL them so they obviously WANT guests to use them.

I love the bubble guns...always wish we had one. BUT.....here's the thing. Until you've had one of those bubbles go into your eye??? Oh man..it hurts. That happened to my dd while standing in line. It was kinda dark in the que. She turned to say something to me, just as the person behind me 'bubbled'!! She got a face full of bubbles, right into her eyes!!!
If you want to use the bubble guns, fine. But not in lines that have a lot of people in them. Same thing goes for those misters. Yeah, it's sometimes nice to get a bit of the residual spray on you in the summer, but not if you have your phone or camera out, and you get a direct shot!!! Saw one guy take a nutty on a parent who didn't restrain their child, who was just standing there, shooting off the mister, all over everyone around them...and completely soaked the guys SLR. Oh man, he was peeved!!!

As a mom to an 18 year old who was allergic to most bubble solutions, and is now developing allergies to other things, I'd really appreciate those people who restrain themselves and keep the bubbles out of the queues.

If the CMs are blowing bubbles outside of the gift shops, I'm going to have to ask them to stop so we can get by without having to see if she is still allergic to bubbles.

well- I will say something here.

I had a hundred thousand dollar eye transplant. :scared:
As a courtesy to anyone in my shoes or anyone with an allergy or ANY kind of problem, , please , please please dont start a war.

Please, OP, dont do this. The harm it will cause all around is not worth it.

Usually it's pretty easy to go around them. I've only seen it a couple times.

I have seen it a few times and it would bother me if they were next to me.

I guess there wouldn't be a problem if you restricted your use to the Designated Bubbling Areas (DBA).
