How long before they start lowering your blood pressure?
I have been on losartan for 10 days and my top number is 176. They put me on it when my BP was 185/89. I would think 10 days later it should be going down more than that.
Where are you getting your reading? At home or at the drs?
Bp meds are something that takes awhile to get the right pill and dosage sometimes. Have you been back to your doctor?
I am on 10 mg of lisinipril now once a day and I am at 125/80. Sometimes I get reading of 120/70 and I ask if I should be asleep.
Go back to the doctor and have them change it up. It should be better than that IMHO(non doctor but play one on the Internet opinion)
This is all interesting to me, because I took my bp the other day, and it was 153/106...but yesterday it was 143/98. I thought that was better. I'm assuming not?
I also take lisinopril......at 20 mg now, but have been down to 10 and might go back to that next doctor visit in June. It runs normal sometimes, but low more often.
sometimes trying to control the bp takes a few tries of different meds or combination of meds.....I have had two for the last few years....but my doctor recently dropped one of my meds to half of the dose and gave me another type because I am a diabetic too....takes care of other issues.....
Just keep knowing that eventually the meds get it right..
one of my meds is lisinipril an I have that nagging cough too......like a tickle at first that I need to get rid of...
7 years on Lisinopril here, no cough. But everyone is different, which is why folks have to realize that going on BP medicine is a process. I went through 3 meds before I found one that actually lowered my BP...and even then I take a second BP medicine to make the Lisinopril work properly.
My mom went through 11 before she found one that lowered her BP, but that drug caused her feet to swell, so on to number 12, and that one gave her a rash. Number 13 did the trick.
my mother, husband and son all take lysinopril-my mother got the cough-and no it did not get better-progressvily worse-her doc changed her to hizar and that works with out the cough-and doesnt have a reaction with femara which lysinopril did. I take telesmartin-and it works great with no side effects.
