They are charging customers 27.00 to rent a movie for one night.

SCAM

they give no receipts so you can't prove that you returned it either.

Or they say you kept it for 25 days, when you did not.

Can you please share evidence of this?? or is this a personal experience?? I am just curious because I have seen no complaints of this elsewhere and know many people who are using these machines.

we used the one in Publix a month ago and I was scared! It did however send me a receipt to my email. and when I returned it, it sent me a return receipt as well:confused3:. Did something happen that caused you to have this experience?

and for the above who does not understand THE POST

they CLAIM you never returned a dvd SINCE THEY DO NOT give receipts. do you get a receipt? DUH THEN, that's how they cheat you.

They claim you did not return, when you did. Or CLAIM YOU KEPT FOR 28 DAYS when you did not.

The market here where our is says they are removing this week due to complaints. So good luck with your credit card.

If they never send an email (and they may or may not) you will be billed XXXX days.

Has been happening for months to many people here. THEY NEED TO submit a paper receipt WHEN you return and they don't.

I love them! You can rent online and pickup the movie the next day.

I have returned a couple of movies at a different location than I picked up and haven't always gotten a returned email, but never a charge.

I've used Blockbuster Express multiple times. They do email the receipt and return confirmation, so you can prove what time it was. If you don't get an email then you have a problem but I very much doubt whatever went wrong was on purpose, which is what a scam is. It could happen on any machine.

Why did you keep renting with them? At least after the second time...
And I would call if I did not get the email receipt right away, at least with in 24 hours. My guess is the machine is broken.

Not true.......... you really need to watch your CC account!!!!! A month later you could be charged without knowing if you don't check your CC account often.

How do I know this.......it happened to me!!!!!! Rented a movie from Redbox and returned it to a different kiosk the next day. I never received a email that I returned the movie, thought nothing of it. A month later I saw that Redbox was trying to take 27.00 out of my CC account. I called Redbox up and told them I returned the movie the next day on time. The scary thing is that they keep your CC info on file!!! All I had to do is give them the last four digits of my CC and they could see all the movies I had rented!!!!! They also saw that all the movies that I rented were returned on time and that I never had a late charge, so they took the charge off my CC account. Haven't rented from them since and never used Blockbuster assuming they must operate the same.
 
I refuse to use vending machines to get movies. I love our little neighborhood Family Video. No receipts needed there.

Not so scary. They don't keep your credit card on file. They associate the last four digits of your card number with your name. You should actually be happy about that - they were able to see that the person with your name and a credit card ending in those four digits has a great return record :teeth:. But that's ALL they see - the last four numbers. It's after 1 AM here, so I'm not going to get into probability, but anyone at RedBox would have to try billions of combinations if they were going to try to steal your (or any customer's) card number or identity.
 
I supervise the person who fills the BB machines throughout Central KY and fully believe this is a scam. Receipts are emailed, tracking is great, but mistakes do happen. If I lose money with something, the last thing I would do is the same thing again. There too many red flags here to make the original post useful.

You,sir/mam, do not have to respond with a DUH THEN:confused3, simply answer WHY you had the issue and HOW it went down.:rolleyes:. As for the machine here in SC, It gave a receipt at the machine FOR the DVD as well as sent a copy to the email. It also gave me a confirmation number stating that the DVD was accepted and processed.:snooty:

If the machine is supposed to print a receipt and does not, then you should email them right away and tell them.

If you are supposed to get a receipt in your email and dont't then you should email them right away and tell them.

And don't use them any more.

Yes, dispute any overcharges with your credit card company.

It is a good idea to avoid automatic return or drop off return of anything -- DVD's, rental cars, library books, etc.

OT: If the gas pump fails to give me a receipt, I leave my car right there (rather than take the time and gas to move and park off in a corner) and go in to get my receipt.

they are doing this all over. The machines d o not give receipts. they were not made with receipts in them.


The machines are in sueprmarkets and drugstores and etc. I heard that when you go to complain or have a problem, the store can't help you as it's not really their machine, just leased. They will tell you to call the number on the machine. How convenient for them

It's good that we are made aware of this before the unsuspecting and my elderly grandma gets ripped off. thank you poster i read that there are numerous complaints at the better bus office about this company.

No one ever said your warning was not heeded. It is not a mistake for trying to help others, the way you came across was not. as for why, you stated that the answer you gave was for the poster you quoted and the one Prior, which was me, so I guesstimated that you were talking about me:confused3...:guilty:
 
I have had no problems renting from them ever as well as redbox once I was overcharged and I called redbox and the problem was fixed right away. Dispute the charges with your credit card company your machine just might not be working correctly. There is no need of being rude.
