On the lazy river at Blizzard beach, do they require that you use one of the tubes, or can you just swim along with the river? I prefer to be in the water rather than the hot sun.

Thanks in advance.

I don;t know if it's required, but the time I went, it was so full of tubes you could not have swam in it.

You can put the tube around your waist and let your body hang in the water rather than sit/lay on top of it. I did that some to cool off when it got too hot. That way, you won't be all in the sun but get to relax, too. Relaxing is the main point to me!

Hi,
when we were last there my DH says he heard the Lifeguards asking some youngsters to get back into the tubes as they were swimming alongside etc. But in saying that we alternated between swimming and lazing in the tubes as said before. There are plenty of 'icicles' dripping FREEZING water on you as you drift around - you won't be too hot for long :goodvibes

I was told you had to have a tube. But I have been there when some folks didn't. So hopefull a CM with knowledge will let us all know. Please? :cool1:

You do not have to have a tube. We have been there dozens of times, and many kids and even adults like to walk through. I haven't heard a lifeguard speak to them.... There is a current, so you either have to walk or swim along with everybody, you can't just stop in the middle and splash around.

The people on tubes get pretty annoyed with the kids without tubes, because they always run faster than the current and SHOVE people on tubes out of their way as they go. There is something about being in a tube that people think it's okay to push other people out of their way! :smooth:

People without tubes are a pain in the butt. They seem to think that they have all the rights. IMHO.I got pushed shoved etc. on our Apr. trip. Use the pools. :teeth:

No, they didn't seem to require a tube when we were there two weeks ago. I took note beacuse at the water
parks closer to me, they will blow the whistle on you for that !

I was at Typhoon Lagoon last week and there was a small boy(maybe 8 or 9?)who wasn't in a tube. At one point I asked if he needed help as he appeared to be struggling to stay above water. I would recommend a tube as the current can get pretty fast and it's easier to bounce off people when you're in a tube. If you want to swim without a tube, I'd just go to the big pool and swim with everyone else.
