Blizzard Beach at 55 degrees

I went to a local water park last May when it was in the upper 60's and the place wasn't that crowded but walking around in a wet bathing suit was cold, so I only stayed for about 90 minutes, changed and went to the amusement ride side of the park. I couldn't imagine going to a water park in 55 degrees even though if I was a local, I might go, ride Summit Plummit a few times and leave. After all, how often does it not have any kind of line?

I think what amazed me was that the park was open at all. The day before when it was even colder, the Blizzard Beach sign read "Closed For Today." Property is really busy because of the MLK holiday...perhaps that's why it was kept open.

It was -42 here the other morning. So it was 97 degrees warmer there:rotfl2: Personly I wouldn't mind swimming in that weather but I don't think I would going on the slides. I wind would make me too cold up on the top.

Last week it was so cold here in Chicago we could not get our house warmer than 55 degrees INSIDE. I could not imagine walking around in a bathing suit.

Thanks for sharing!

Well, apparently there are limits. Here's the sign today. The high is supposed to be around 50 degrees and it's really windy today>

As a Floridian, I would never be in any water if the temp was below 75. Our pool is not heated and from May-Oct we use it faithfully but after Oct-April we won't touch it! My step dad always wants to drain it when we don't use it.

So 55 degrees is 3-4 layer weather for me! It's supposed to get to the 30's tonight in Miami so I'll be wearing my 3 layers and a coat if I go out. My blood is thin!

I am a Floridian, and there is no way I would live anywhere that had a temp below 20 degrees on a regular basis, so go ahead and laugh it up at us Floridians who bundle up for weather under 55 degrees. Just remember we are the ones who live in the same state as Disney world. LOL LOL LOL

Oh, those two little girls look so cold!!

It looks like it would be a nice place to sit and relax on a chair in the sun with no crowds. No swimming for me though.

Thanks for sharing. :)

CupidsKiss, if you look closely at the pics you'll see that the chairlifts are completely empty and there's no one on the stairs to Summit Plummet. If the cold didn't bother you, it was a great day to go. I did ask a couple of people where they were from: England and Canada.

John

HaHa! I figured it was Canadians! Not sure what the temperature was but, we had River Country to ourselves one day. The guards ended up foregoing actual guarding and just followed us around the whole day!

We always swam in our unheated above ground til mid October, so it seemed fine to us!

I laugh too at Floridians all bundled up in 55 degrees.:lmao:
55 is t shirt weather!!!:rotfl2:

Looks like a great day at the park, and thanks for posting the pics. I have been dying to see some good ones of BB.:thumbsup2
whats funny is that the couple of kids in the pics, must have just been in heaven having that entire park to themselves... good for them!

I'm a former Yankee living in Central Florida now. Yes, I am freezing! Absolutely freezing. Today I had on a turtleneck, sweater, and a winter jacket. We just aren't used to this type of cold. They are predicting high 20's low 30's for the morning. I doubt I will have many students in class. So many of the kids don't even own long pants. I feel badlly for everyone coming down on vacation in the next day or so. It should be back in the mid 70's by Saturday.

I'll better go on taking pictures of nice views of the place and relax than take a swim in that temperature. A no thanks for me.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

Hey, I just realized the day you shot these was the day Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) was there. I know a lifeguard there and even shown working in one of your pictures. He told me he just looked down and Harry Potter was floating past.
