Hi All - I'm looking @ blenders for our house and there are LOTs of options w/ a huge price range. my budget allows for about $100 for this item so I want to spend it wisely... Of course this knocks out the higher end blenders cuz as much as I would like one of them, they are out of budget for me. Our use will be for smoothies etc. My kids are not breakfast people so I try & do smooties for them so they will at least eat/drink something and it's healty... usually just frozen fruit, protein powder, some greek yogert etc. We'll use it for other things also, but this is the primary chore we will use it for.

Anyone want to recommend a blender they have and love?... suggestions for things to watch for?

I love my Ninja. I use it for everything from smoothies to dicing up veggies etc. I would never buy a traditional blender again.

I bought an Oster at Walmart just a couple of months ago for $60. It has pre-programmed settings for smoothies and chopping food, and a reverse motor for crushing ice and frozen stuff. It also has manual controls. I use it all the time for smoothies. It crushes ice great, also frozen strawberries and bananas.

Thanks! I am leaning between the kitchen aid and ninja so thanks for helping me narrow down my options

I have a kitchen aid. I like it but don't know if I would say I love it. The Ninja seems to fit in that price range and it seems to do a lot.

I was considering a vitamix but now that I am selling all my stuff to travel the world, won't be making that purchase.

I like my Ninja. If you don't mind the motor being on top instead of on the bottom and 48 oz is enough, you can find them for about $40. I had one of those and it worked well. I don't use it any more since I bought a bigger one at Goodwill, but it worked much better than my traditional blender.

I would go with a Ninja if I were looking for a new blender in that price range. I used to want a Vitamix but now I would rather have a Blendtec (it fits under the wall cabinets whereas the Vitamix does not) if I were spending that much money. But, for the $100 range I would hands down get a Ninja. Some models are rated higher than others so do your research on which one is best!

There is a new vitamin that specifically says it will fit under cabinets.

I love my Ninja. My family drinks smoothies a lot for breakfast, and it makes the creamiest ones ever! Before the Ninja, I had a Kitchen Aid blender. It worked fine, until the plastic "spokes" on the base that turn the blade broke. They broke off one at a time until I didn't have enough left to turn the blade! My $100 blender only lasted 2 years. The Ninja is not made like that.

My Blender gave up its ghost during christmas and so I am avidly watching this thread and I see the Ninja is the most popular so far. I was shopping today and saw there are a few models of Ninja available, I was wondering if posters favoring Ninja's could post their model number please. Thank you!

Same here! We had bought a Kitchen Aid blender from Costco awhile ago and it only lasted 5 months before the plastic spoke things that turn the blades began to break off. When there were only two left we took it back to Costco and bought a Ninja there. We love our Ninja!!!

I just got a BL700 Ninja blender. My ninja is great, it blends ice to snow if done properly. We have found it is best to blend the ice FIRST then once the ice is completely crushed add in your mixes etc. The BL600 is slightly smaller and i believe comes with single serving cups.

DH uses both the Ninja (from Costco) and the Nutribullet (got at Bed Bath and Beyond) regularly depending on how much/what he's making.

Loved the Ninja this past summer for frozen drinks while sitting by the pool! (Granted, it was a kiddie pool but still nice to have my pina colada! LOL!)
