My favorite cocktail is the blackberry sour at the California Grill. I emailed WDW, waited 2 months for a response and they wouldn't give me the recipe. Does anyone know the recipe? I really want to make it for an upcoming celebration. TIA.

Did you try google? It rarely fails
So many times:ssst:. I see many recipes online but they aren't the California Grill recipe. I really wish I had asked the waitress, she was amazing. But I figured I could find it online. :surfweb:

You sure? What makes you think theirs is different? Since all those are the same. Is it just they used different brands?

I wish. The WDW site says Kettle one citroen vodka, lemonade and blackberries. Online recipes have schnapps or liquors, or simple syrup, other juices. I could do some taste testing (might be fun:cheer2:) but hoped to cut right to the correct recipe. Maybe it tasted so delicious because I was at the California grill with loved ones just before the pandemic hit. IDK. haha.

Ooo. A taste test could be fun.

So, it is probably more straightforward than you realize. If a drink has lemonade, no need to add simple syrups. A trick to recreating cocktails at home from menu descriptions is to remember that the first ingredient listed is the one in the highest proportion, and it decreases incrementally as the ingredients continue.

I do a lot of cocktail testing and inventing at home as a hobby. In this case, I'd hazard a guess that there are equal amounts of vodka and lemonade and then muddled berries. I'd make this drink by doing the following:

Muddle 3-4 fresh blackberries in the bottom of a glass. Add ice to the glass. Add 3oz vodka and 3oz lemonade to a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and pour over smashed berries. Stir.

I'd taste and add more lemonade if it was too strong.

The most important thing is getting that exact vodka. However, any top shelf lemon vodka will do. I prefer Grey Goose Citron. Also, Disney uses Simply Lemonade at their bars, which is easy to find in stores.

DLgal, thank you so much! I will take your advice and try it as you described. I appreciate your expertise. 😃

Let us know how it goes! I might actually mix one of these up. It sounds great! Just adding blackberries to my list now.

Omg that sounds good!
My sister and I gave each other martini glasses and ingredients for two martinis to each other for Christmas and have been interested in finding more recipes… this one looks delicious!

Update:

I experimented on this today. Some notes:
Muddle the blackberries in the shaker first. Add ice, then vodka and lemonade. Go with a 1:2 ratio vodka:lemonade. I added a bit of extra lemon juice because I like it SOUR. Add twice as many blackberries as I said...4-5 per drink is good. STRAIN into a glass with ice (the seeds don't make for good drinking)

With that said, I used the blackberries to make a blackberry simple syrup to make it easier. 2 cups blackberries, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 2 tsp lemon juice. Boil, mash up or use a hand blender and let sit for 15 minutes. Strain into a glass bottle or jar. Easy peasy.

Next time you want a drink:
1 part vodka
2 parts lemonade
1/2 part blackberry syrup
1/2 part lemon juice (if you like it extra sour)

Pour all ingredients over ice and stir.

I think maybe I’ve found the place to help with a cocktail recipe. I absolutely loved the Smoking Mirror at Artist Point. I now have all of the ingredients (I think) as well as a smoking board. Of course I’ll start experimenting, but if anyone has recreated this, I would love to hear what you did!

Try adding a bit of pomegranate juice to it. I would get this drink and the blueberry lemon drop martini at California Grill and sat at the bar and the bartender said they use the pomegranate juice to give it the color 😊. They took the blueberry lemon drop off the menu last I was there and I was devastated as it’s my favorite and made the meal less enjoyable to not have my favorite cocktail.

I suspect most restaurants won't give out their popular drink/food recipes or there will be less reason for people to go there. While you can search around online for similar recipes, I suspect none will be exactly the same. Many of the copy-cat sites say they have recipes 'just like..........' which are nothing like the real thing. Maybe you can recall enough of the flavors to be able to take parts of the various online recipes and come up with a combination that is similar.

After a recent Disney trip was curious about the Dole Whip I had. If you search around for Dole Whip recipes online you will find a lot that take fresh fruit and whizz it in a blender. There is no fruit pulp in the real thing. The Dole Whip Disney sells is actually made from a dry powder mix and can be purchased online at Amazon.

My husband likes the Evil to the Core at Artist Point. We tried recreating it a lot.. and couldn’t get the blackberry to come out right. We tried real blackberries, and also blackberry sugar syrup. When they recently reopened they listed it as “Blackberry Schnapps” which helps. Maybe they use that in your drink too?
