How much is a black out day ticket these days? And do you have to buy it the day of the black out or can you get it ahead of time? Where do you buy it? At the ticket booths?

Disneyland Annual Pass Blackout Tickets
If you have an An Annual Pass but are visiting Disneyland on a blackout day you can buy a discounted ticket. These Blackout Day tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance ticket windows.

You must have your Annual Pass with you to purchase a Blackout Day Ticket.

One little known thing about Disneyland Annual Passes is that blackout days do not apply on the day that you purchase your Pass. So if you plan to visit Disneyland and the first day that you want to visit is on a blackout day then you can purchase your restricted pass but still be able to visit the park on that day.

And yes, you can purchase the tickets at the ticket booth.

Hope this helps.

Ouch! I paid $45 for my blockout ticket in June. They're $50 (!) now.

Blockout day tickets are available for purchase and are valid on a day that your Annual Passport is blocked out but you wish to visit the Resort Theme Parks. Blockout Day tickets are Park Hopper® tickets and are currently $50 each (prices subject to change without notice). These tickets are available at the Main Entrance Ticket Booths and may not be purchased in advance of the day you wish to visit. Annual Passholders must present their valid Annual Passport and valid Blockout day ticket to be admitted into the Disneyland® Resort Theme Parks on a Blockout day.

Jeez, skiingfast is right......for $50 I think I'd have a hard time not upgrading. :)

Thank you for the info and the link. I had looked on the Disney site but couldn't find it. My boys will be going to DLR with the music departmant at their school in spring. They are going on a black out Saturday and maybe an evening, not sure. Since we already have APs I was going to see if they would be allowed to buy black out tickets for Sat instead of buying regular tickets. I bet $50 is still cheaper than whatever group deal the school might get. But upgrading to a Premium AP is still alot more money and not worth it for one black out day.

I agree with you! There's a big difference between $50 and well over $100, and I at least would not make up for that difference with discounts.

True but it's when you decide to go during another blackout day that you will be wishing you upgraded the first time and not handing over $50 each time you decide to get an extra day in.

Well, the whole thing is pointless now. I just heard back from the music teacher. He said it is a package deal for the music competition and DLR and they can't be split up. We wouldn't normally go on a black out day anyway so this would have been a one time thing. Oh well, it is what it is. :confused3

So I just realized, you said they are going in spring....my DD14's band is supposed to be going in spring as well. Wouldn't it be fun if they went at the same time?

This is interesting info. I will have to pay to upgrade for two days on Labor Day weekend. Maybe I should spend the money to upgrade to the PAP instead of $100 for one-day upgrades. If I paid the $299 price when I bought my DAP in April - what will I pay for the upgrade to PAP? Is it prorated?

It will be $459-$299=$160 with an expiration date of your original pass (ie april)

Currently you get a 20% discount(normally 10% but you get an extra 10% right now) in stores as well as 15% discount on food (except not at carts). Also free parking (bring your parking receipt when you upgrade to get the $15 back).

The discounts and free parking pay for my PAP each year.

They don't prorate it, it will be as described by sportbettor in the post above mine. :) We have done that upgrade before, but we did it the month after we activated our APs.

Ok thanks :) I don't think it will be worth it at this point. We always walk over to the park and I only have 2 blackout days in the 3 trips I am planning before the pass expires. Thanks for the info though! :goodvibes
