Black & Gold backings

I just bought 200 pins off ebay ( I know - already addicted ) I just wanted to make sure before I'm stuck that they are all good traders. Many are the gold backed with the disney mark ( I've seen some at DL ) and made in china and some have black backsides also with the disney mark and china stamp. Why are some black and some gold? Most look good with only a few possible euro pins. I guess I need some warm fuzzies after spending so much.. We aren't going till Sept. and it would be too late to try and do something about it. Thanks so much...

There used to be a website that explained all this but I don't remember the URL. Metal for pin bases come in gold, silver, copper, and black colors.
Often prototype pins will come in all the different base colors. (See Disney Auctions) Usually one color base looks the best and the whole edition is then made in that color metal.

oh your just jealous. I spent a bit of time looking up some pins and other than 2 broken backs and 1 that has a pin backing I think they're all good. I figured with cheappins not selling disney anymore I'd better get as many as I could afford at a good price and never have to buy pins again. ( I hope ) I've got 4 pin addicts. now we just have to get to Disney world...
