We generally go to the Mall of America to watch the madness, but rarely participate ourselves. Might have to get to Kohl's though for jeans and underwear for our vacation...
There is no way in...well, you get the drift. The only time I went shopping on Black friday was when I was drug kicking and screaming by my ILs when we were all visiting in Gatlinburg, TN...what a nightmare!!!! Never again, even if they try to trick me into it this year...I will plead sanity and stay behind.
I am not big on shopping on an ordinary day, the crowds on Black Friday are too much. It's like a freakish cult the way people plan their attack with maps, sales flyers, parking strategies, synchonized watches...NUTS!!!!
Oh well. I'm off to compile an alphabitzed list of entrees I'm planning to order on my Feb. Disney trip. Maybe after that I'll go over my Magic Kingdom touring plan and circle all the bathrooms in red sharpie on my old park maps . . .
I would actually go shopping on Black Friday if the deals were plentiful and worth getting up at the crack of dawn for. Since they aren't, no, I won't be shopping on Black Friday. In year's past I have.
My sister and I go shopping but crack of dawn for us is getting up and out by 8:00.....not 5 or 6!! We go more for wandering around and eating a good lunch somewhere.
I used to go but not that early- the lines are just too long and you can't shop through the crowds. Usually the things I want aren't really hot things so I just go later on in the day when there are still things on sale.
I went to Kohl's for the past 2 years very early and the line on both sides began at the very back of the store and some people only had 1-3 items! No freakin' way! I went back around 8pm and walked right up to the register.
Plus, shopping for DS1 is done because who knows how much $ will be left over after our WDW vacation next month!
DH and I will be venturing into the madness for the first time this year. Last year, he told me that he'd always wanted to go out in the morning and watch people fight over stuff. Not sure if we'll actually buy anything or not, but we plan to have fun.
We all laughed at a student employee who told us in all seriousness, "My sister and I are going to the Black Friday sales. We're getting up REALLY early at 8:00 so we can hit all the deals."
For me, there is NO deal worth fighting someone over. Or waiting outside at 4:00 a.m. in the cold. Or dealing with crowds. Last year, I went on the Saturday morning after Black Friday. There were still a lot of good deals and I was pretty much the only customer in the store.
