Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

How can you tell if you can order online to any stores on Thanksgiving Day for the BF price? I heard that some places you can. Do you just need to check websites? Thanks for your help.

For those of you needing HDMI cables to go with your BF purchases, don't fool with an extra trip to the store. Instead, go to monoprice.com , today -- they sell high quality cables of all types/sizes for pennies on the dollar!

I know this may be a dumb question, but what would I need a HDMI cable for?

So I (along with 5 million other people!) would like to get the band hero set from walmart for $75. The ad shows it's available at midnight. So... how does that work? Do you go in the store hours before, get one and hang on to it and check out at midnight? Do you have to go to a 24 hour store?

I've never done this scenario, so any advice is appreciated!

How does price match on amazon work? Do they just mark their prices down to the lowest known? I understand that some people are putting things into their cart now. How does this all work?

Quick question: it looks like the TRU ad is actually going to work well for me, since I can get there at 10 on Thurs at get pretty much most of what I want. The only thing I really need from Target is the 3 DS games that are running at $4 and $7 (Lego Batman, Iron Man 2, and Lego Battles). Will these be those items that will run out quickly? Just wondering if I have to get back up to wait in line at 3am for just those items or if you think I could get them later...not sure if those are some of the "hot items" because of their price? :confused3

Does Gamestop participate in Black Friday and are their deals generally worth it?

Also...Anyone with experience from Westinghouse? I know they are kinda random brand now that apparently rents out their name so I am a tad worried about that. I did go to Target yest and saw a 42" setup and it looked ok.

You may want to revisit Target and take a closer look at the TV in question (Westinghouse TVs tend to have some bizarre/awkwardly-placed buttons).

For HDTVs, Blu-ray players, certain cable boxes/DVD players.

If you are into the HD experience, a single HDMI cable does the same function that 5 cables (red/white audio and red/green/blue) can do.

If you're using a coax or the yellow/red/white cables, it's time to upgrade.

Does anyone have the special 4 day target ad saved into a PDF or have a different link I can use? The one listed in the thread I can not get to from work and I really want to see the ad. I am stuck here waiting for someone else to do their job so I can finish mine and I can't leave until its done. So I was hoping to review while I was waiting not so patiently. :rolleyes1

Yes, they do -- one of their big offers in 2008 was high-capacity memory cards for a fraction of the price.

Normally in the 24-hour stores, shoppers will begin to congregate around the wrapped pallets (they are covered/secured in dark-colored shrink-wrap) in the early evening hours of Thanksgiving and they wait it out until WM associates do the unveiling...

Ok, headed there now to check it out.i don't think they have the 40in in stores but I'll check out the next one up. I don't think button placement is a huge concern though. :)

Thanks for mentioning them because I'd forgotten to check them. I'm looking for XBox games so they are certainly one I'll watch.

Time to be organized. I am overwhelmed a bit- only had one "item" on the must buy list and now I have about 20. I am looking for a digital Camera- I am thinking the best buy nikon might be a good choice. But do I want to fight the best buy crowd- our store is terrible with check out on Black friday.

What are you looking for in a digital camera? I love my Nikon DSLR but not sure Nikon has the best point & shoot cameras.

Still trying to figure out an online strategy. I'm mostly interested in the eMachines at Walmart (unless I can get one at Target on Sunday) and the $99 Nook at Best buy. I have already purchased a refurbished Nook for $99, but would rather get the new one. However, I am not willing to withstand the Best Buy camp out just to get that one item.

So, when should I start trying to get these things online? Some said Walmart had the Black friday stuff online on Thursday? What time? and what about Best Buy? When will their black friday stuff go online?

Maggie
