Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

Anybody have any recommendation as the best place to buy small appliances? I'm thinking Target or Kohls...

I was at Costco, today, and they were handing out coupons for November 26 - 28. I looked back and don't see this posted. Costco will open at 9:00am on Friday.

EYING a bluray player. Now that best buy is up they have one for 50$ but it isnt wifi. One at target is wifi redi. Why would I need wifi to watch blurays? I already have a tivo premier that netflix, you tube.:confused3

You wouldn't need it to watch Blu-Rays...Some ppl will use it to stream netflix, youtube, pandora etc.

Also that Sony has no wifi, its an addon purchase to get it wifi ready and costs roughly $70 or so. If wifi is important to you then best buy insignia is the best budget one. Otherwise go with that cheapo to just play Blu-Ray

I'm interested in the Wii bundle that Best Buy has listed in their BF ad. Does anyone know if I can order it online and pick it up in the store later, to avoid the crowds and shipping charges?

I am looking for a laptop for my DD. I want an i3 with 4 GB Memory and 500 GB Hard Drive. She really wants something lightweight. I'd like to get her a 15.6" screen.

I haven't really seen anything that has jumped out at me this year.

I do see an HP in the Best Buy ad. Does anyone know anything about HP? We have a Sony and Toshiba. I am not familiar with HP.

I am looking for one too. I thought that I had heard that Toys R' Us is having Netbooks for cheap!!

Many of the Blu Rays have bonus content, games etc, that you can use via internet connection. I have never tried it, because ours is old and they didn't come with wifi then. When I get a new player, I will be sure it has wifi.

HP is a very reputable computer company, I have had many HP computers in my time, and they have all been good machines.

Thanks for posting the Best Buy info! I see a few XBox games I want at good prices. I also see that they open at 5 but I need to go to Target first. Urgh...

As for the HP question, Hewlett Packard is definitely reputable.

Hi BF buddies! I am a little overwhelmed this year for Black Friday...I will actually be on vacation in Orlando and really don't know where to start. I normally have a Black Friday outline plan on where I'm going first, second, and so on and DH normally goes in the opposite direction so that we can maximize our BF shopping as much as possible. I guess I'm looking for help and advice from anyone who actually lives in Orlando and BF shops or who has BF shopped on vacation in Orlando in the past. I guess it's overwhelming because here at home I know where the stores are but I have no idea where things are in Orlando...any advice? We'll be near Universal, staying at Vista Cay. Thanks for any help!!

I haven't seen the BB ad but I got an email from TigerDirect with this laptop for $599.99. It is kind of confusing because the email and the lower description say 500GBHD but the upper description shows a 320GBHD. :confused3

The TiVo Premiere does indeed effectively reduce the extent to which you need a Blu-ray Disc Player with wifi capability. The only big thing you lose out on is an easy way of updating the firmware, something which you may need to do a few times a year, depending on which discs you rent/buy. One "advantage" Blu-ray has over older technologies is that the software that runs the disc's software could change over time. You'll have to do this by downloading the update on a computer, and then copying it to a thumb drive (make sure you buy one if you don't have one, and factor that into the cost comparison), and then move the thumb drive to the disc player.

During the first year, I've had to update the firmware five times on my older player, and two or three times so far on my newer player.

I've personally never been very impressed with any of that content. I wouldn't pay more than $5-$10 more for a player, just to get that content. YMMV.

We've had very bad experiences with HP. In the time I had my Dell Inspiron, my wife bought her HP laptop, sent it in twice for repair, and finally trashed it. (We wouldn't even give it away to a niece or nephew, it was so unreliable.

For laptops, I think you're better off sticking with brands like Dell, Toshiba, Sony (or Apple, if you swing that way).

If I buy a video game today 11/13 and I know it is on sale on BF will they adjust the price when I go back in on BF? I know in the past they would but wondered if they still do.

I'm not sure, but if I recall correctly, if the pricing is quantity limited, then you'll only be able to get the lower price applied if there is stock left on the shelf when you go in for the price adjustment. (But to be fair, my memory of this is sketchy, and based on what the policy was years ago.)

I don't think there are any absolutes where this is concerned. We had an HP and granted it was long ago but it was fine. We have a Dell now and it's doing fine so far but it's weird because we had a Dell before and it was absolutely the biggest pile of trash ever. Everything and I mean everything went wrong with it. We only tried Dell again because we got an offer we couldn't refuse. :)

I am not familiar with hp laptops but we only have hp pcs at our house. In my opinion, they are the best!
I too am looking for a similar laptop for myself to replace a pice of ** Gateway!

We've been at Disney multiple times for BF, make sure you get down to the gift shop EARLY to get a paper on Thanksgiving because they go quick and even tho I have most of the info ahead, I still like that hard copy to take with me to the stores. The Orlando Mall wasn't terrible but still BF level crowds. I normally do Mapquest to all the stores I want to go, in the order I need to be there that way I don't spend time lost. Walmart on 192 is my biggest nightmare it was packed (as I'm sure is just the case for it being Walmart) but was easier to get in and out of than the Best Buy. That lot is so small and was just ridiculous. Patience and planning are really all you need just like at home and in the heat of shopping you actually do forget where you are anyway lol Have fun :thumbsup2

Thanks memphismovin! I really appreciate the advice! We'll be at Vista Cay so I'll have to send DH out to a gas station for a paper early!!

I am so very excited about Target's Black Friday sales this year. I saw the leaked flyer and am going bright and early!!!
