Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

Imo the "best" so far is the 40" from Target. However looks like the cheapest might just be that $198 32" from Walmart.

I bought one last year and almost never use it but for some reason I have no sound on one channel. Probably not a huge deal because its likely a small amount of those that have the issue.

I am looking forward to see what Best Buy has to offer. So far the only thing I am rly considering is Toy Story 3 and a new TV for my room from Target. Maybe some toys from TRU but idky.

It's for my daughters bedroom. I don't necessarily want to grab the cheapest one I see....but I dont need all the bells & whistles either. I'll wait & see Best Buy & WalMart too.

Can you tell me what the price is? I can't access the ad for some reason.

I think they're going to be $299 everywhere - but the $50 gift card certainly helps!

Target was also giving out a Giftcard with the Xbox, but only on the 4G model...DS has asked for the 250

Assuming the "leak" of the Walmart is accurate its a 720p version while the Target one is 1080p. Likely not a huge deal since its a kids room tv but its something to consider.

Another pretty good deal from Sears is a 24" LED 1080p TV for $229. LED is newer tech so imo a fairly good price on this. However not as developed as LCD.

After about 4 years of hearing the 'amazing black friday t.v. deals' we have decided the price is now low enough to buy one. Right now the target 40" and 46" tvs are my focus. Not sure which we want but prob the 40". I am not really focused on Best Buy because every year people camp out like 2+ days and snag the big discounts (let me know if I am wrong with that). Target opens at 4am. Is there a reasonable time I can get there to get the deal or is ut not likely? Basically, would I need to get there at 2am? 12am? 10pm? 8pm? earlier? Whatcha thoughts?

Last Sunday, Kmart offered another 10% off for one day for reward participants. I got a red Wii for an additional $20 off plus the $50 reward 'credit'.

Just checked out the Target ad...I now remember I am looking for electric blankets for the kids but I didn't see any on sale in that ad. I am also still looking for a 500GB netbook. I doubt I will see that in the BF ads.

Sears has electric blankets right now on sale for $26 in their "Shop Black Friday now" sale. I think that is what I paid last year at Kmart for the electric blankets I got for my kids.

Magnavox Wi-fi Bluray Disc Player at $69 plus a $10 credit for Vudu. Bound to be this model: MBP5130/F7

How is that Bluray player? The price is low enough to maybe get me in the Blu ray market. Although I would rather pay a little more for better quality than cheaper for junk.

Thats a tough call and likely dependent on where you live. Sometimes I hear Target TV deals are ultra limited to a small pallet. I did Walmart last year so I cannot give my first hand experience.

But I was able to get to Best Buy by about sun up and was able to get my surround sound. They seemed to have decent stock on their doorbuster stuff so it did last for some time.

I do think though that a good deal of college kids and stuff with a lot of free time camp out days before at Best Buy. So depending on where you live this could change.

I would say weigh the options and see which is worth it to you. My guess is though you would want to get to Target fairly early though for that 40" deal. It just might be the best deal to be had for avg size TV like that. I just don't know what kind of stock they have.

Best Buy may have the best one available. Their normally $99 allows streaming from Netflix.(Imo important idk if it is for you). I will be looking at Blu Ray players with that feature for my room.

Surprisingly haven't seen any good Blu Ray deals yet.

Are there any deals on the Nook in the BFriday ads?

Maggie

Have not seen one.

I am a veteran of several Black Fridays including 2 Target openings --good to see more of us "dads" in on the action!

The way Target does things is these TVs will be on a pallet on the main "racetrack" floor (not in electronics!) -- much like the way Walmart does certain promotional items (download your store's map from Target.com on Thanksgiving Day for the exact location). Once that pallet is empty, that will most likely be "it" for the doorbuster TVs.

Now, as to what time -- if you are in an area with several Target stores within a 10-mile radius (such as St. Clair County, Illinois -- Target has 3 stores within 8 miles of each other), you might be OK to jump in line at 2:30, but no later than 3:00 a.m. If you are in, say, New Jersey, you may have to show-up even earlier (the reason I say this is because I know from my experiences N.J. has a LOT of shoppers crammed into that small state).

Got it thx. Not a member but there are a cpl good deals there. That laptop seems nice and $95 for that Blu Ray also seems like a fairly good deal.

Better then what Costco seems to be offering. :sad2:

Someone reported on another board that Overstock.com has re-certified Nooks on sale for $99.00 today.

Yeah, that is why I was wanting to know if there was any better deal on Black Friday. I might just go ahead and order the Overstock ones.

Assuming the "leak" of the Walmart is accurate its a 720p version while the Target one is 1080p.
For the 32" that's not a big deal (regardless of what room the television will be used in). If you can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32", then you're sitting too close to the television. :)

40" is just below the borderline between "it doesn't matter" and "it matters". 42" is generally the smallest size where regular folks should star worrying about 720p versus 1080p.

Mtblujeans in the "Walmarts cousin's" ad, there is a HP 500GB netbook with blu-ray for $499. Don't know if you are looking to spend that much or if you are a member but I thought I would mention it.
