Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

I know the ad isn't out but do we know what time Walmart will open? I hope later.. I, like most posters, do kohl's then walmart then target which used to work out with their opening times. I don't know that I can be at kohl's before 3 this year. These opening times are crazy.

I want the TV from target. Anybody get one last year have thoughts on this particular tv?

Which TV? I have seen them both in times, past. The Apex is average and the Westinghouse has some really strange buttons (you may want to go to the store, soon and look at one, first). While the Samsung has a good price, the 60 hertz is a turn-off (as 120 hertz is becoming the norm in flat-panel TVs).

So far, Walmart's ad hasn't been "leaked" -- last year, they were open 24 hours (because of the incident in Long Island, NY, the year before). All the "doorbusters" had black shrink-wrap over the pallets, which was removed at 4:00 a.m. on the nose.

Now, since Target and others are opening their doors at 4:00 a.m., I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the world's biggest retailer ups the ante and starts their Black Friday action at 3:00 a.m.!

We should find-out, very soon...

Any one seen deals on Soccer Balls?? Last year, I was able to get them for $5 at Walmart. Will they have them again this year for $5?

Thanks for responding!!

Ok so far what's the best flat panel tv deal out there so far then? I'd like a 37 or 40".. unless a 32" is a GREAT deal...

Am I better off looking for deals NOW and not on BF?

My experiencewith Target is to check back later that night if it is something that you really want. I have arrived early in the morning to find that they have sold out of something only to go back later that night at around 8PM to find that they have re-stocked the item. One of their stockers told me that when the delivery for Black Friday comes in, they have tons and tons of boxes and that they just unload the palettes as they get to them. So if you are there in the mornings and ask if they have extra items "in the back", they really can't tell you because they don't know where they are.

I'm thinking that I would likely just stay up all night if I have to be at Target at 4. I wonder if getting in line at 3 or so would be wise?

I would love to know when Wal-Mart starts selling their stuff. I hope that it's not at 4 too.

As I said in an earlier post, Walmart is the wild card in all this. I am betting they may "take off the wraps" on their BF merchandise @ 3:00 a.m.

As for Target, you will definitely want to stake-out your place around 60-90 minutes prior to store opening, as "if you snooze, you'll lose"...

Plus, according to the "leaked" ad, it looks like you will now be able to download a map from Target's website telling you where everything is at your local store (since the "deals" won't be in their usual departments).

I would imagine the Blu-ray player will fly, too (since they are Sony, which has been a very reliable brand) -- also, according to the ad, Target will give a $10 gift card for every $100 spent, which makes for a bigger deal than at Walgreens, etc.

Personally, I'd do the 4 a.m. thing -- it's only once a year...

Thanks for pointing out the $10 gift card! I wasn't paying attention to that. That does make it a really good deal. I have three Target's within 15 minutes of me so I may have a shot. I can probably do 4 am but I am dreading as we are flying out in the evening on BF to Disney. That makes for a long day.... :scared1:

Oh wow...you lucky duck!! That would SO make it worth going out at the butt crack of dawn to know you'll be in Disney that night!:lovestruc

I am really disappointed with Target's ad. Not one toy my daughter has on her list is on sale. No Zoobles, Squinkies, Furry Frenzies, Zhu Zhu pets, Sing-a-ma-jigs or anything else. What a bummer. All these toys are on sale now but not at great prices and I am so hoping that the Target ad is incorrect.:confused3

I am betting that the Wal Mart ad is going to show a sale time of 3 am, so they can one up Target. Wow, this is soooooooooooooooooooo early.

I just checked out the Target ad and found tons of things I'd buy... but, nothing that I really wanted. Not sure it's worth standing in freezing cold at 3AM for... we'll see what Wal-Mart offers.

I'm in the market for a new TV and Wii... and I'm seriously thinking that the deals offered this week are the best I'll see.

I did see either on TV or on the Target website that they were going to do the map thing. I think you will be able to get it on Thanksgiving or the day before?:confused3 Should help a little bit.

Although so far, I haven't seen much that makes it worth getting up that early!

I am pretty sure this ad is "the real deal" as we are a little over 2 weeks away from the event (and in the meantime, these ads have to be shipped-out to the nation's newspapers, etc.).

Not to go all negative on Target, but in the past, they've missed the boat when it comes to new/fad toys. It was just a short while back they took a pass on being a launch customer for Zhu Zhu Pets (and Walmart and Toys "R" Us got 'em, instead).

Plus, the big BF deals were probably negotiated months ago with the nation's biggest toymakers (namely, Mattel and Hasbro). Most of the toys you mentioned are from newly-formed toy companies.

Are you able to get any of the deals online? I know in the past I have gotten some deals online but I don't remember if it was target or another store. Thanks
