Good evening friends! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Summer is busy and the computers are giving us trouble. I just had a few minutes to catch up with things here.
So sorry to hear about the Splenda in the Sandwich Thins. I LOVE those things! But I must admit that I read the calories, fat, and fiber and nothing else. It never occurred to me that there might be artificial sweetener in them.

I will probably continue to eat them occasionally myself, but I won't give them to the kids anymore. I tried to eliminate most Splenda (and aspartame, etc) from my diet about 18 months ago and I only have one holdout left that I can't seem to give up (but I have dropped from 7 servings per week to about 4-5).
It seems like I forgot to PM Shannon AGAIN this week with my weight. Chalk it up to my mind being like a sieve! I will send it on its way tonight... but have no fear, I am FAR from being the BL! I gained 2.4..... but let me quickly explain our extended July 4th "eat-a-thon".
We arrived on the Cape about late morning on Friday. The eating challenge began immediately! I did pack a bag of "parachute" foods to help me out while I was there, but it wasn't enough. I ate my high fiber instant oatmeal and my usual hot drink (with added fiber) every morning. That was a big help. And I ate a green salad with some lean protein (with the salad dressing that I brought along) for lunch every day. I had lots of fresh fruit. I stuck with drinking lots of seltzer and didn't imbibe except for one glass of champagne.
I had decided that dinner would be my SPLURGE meal most days. But sadly, a few times, that splurge began with the afternoon snacks. And DSIL considers a full plate of meatballs and stuffed shells an APPETIZER! (Yes, that is TRULY what we had for appetizers on July 4.) I did indulge in some steak tips (just a few ounces), potato salad (very lightly dressed with mayo... ate about 1/2 C) and 1 1/2 corn on the cob (VERY lightly buttered but so yummy). I also filled in around the edges with baked fish (freshly caught sea bass), brown rice salad (with black beans), and lots of green salad. So it wasn't all bad. Actually, I only had three real big meals.... two dinners (as mentioned above) and one late lunch of fried scallops, sweet potato fries, and some onion rings (a splurge that I have been planning for a few weeks!). We were there from Friday until Tuesday evening, so it was a very extended weekend.
I guess I should focus on what I did right every day.... I kept at least two of my three meals well within plan EVERY DAY. I exercised EVERY DAY I was there (sometimes more than 60 minutes). I skipped dessert most meals. I didn't drink any alcohol (except for the champagne). I brought along healthy foods to keep me on plan and I didn't ignore them when I was faced with LOTS of delicious fattening foods. I drank lots of water/seltzer EVERY DAY. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... I got RIGHT BACK on program as soon as we returned home!!
So overall I am well pleased with how I handled a very difficult extended eating event. Hopefully the 2.4 I gained during that time will disappear quickly.
Sorry to ramble on and on... Thanks for reading. I hope to catch up with the QOTD later on................P
