BL Summer Challenge 2009

Tuesday's Question of the Day

What is your favorite exercise that you have done consistently over the last two years?

Well, unfortunately, I'm not consistent on exercising, but when I do get my butt moving, its the step, and exercise bike that I use the most. Just because they can be done when watching TV with DH.

Gotta get back to work, I'll come on tonight and post last week's results :)

Hey all, haven't had a chance to read back...I have been gone on a mini vaca for the past 3 days...did not eat well at all but have been back on track for the past day and a half. Feel good about getting right back on that wagon! Plus I had fun on my vaca and didn't feel too guilty for enjoying my food and drink. I am going back into the gym tonight...it has been close to 2 weeks since I have been due to work and my vaca.

bday: Melanie!

What is your favorite exercise that you have done consistently over the last two years?

Obviously I am a big fan of running - since I started 2 1/2 years ago, it has become something I really enjoy and rely on. It's helped my brain and my back and my soul, and the fact that I have been "training" for "races" has kept me pretty darned regular. And the fact that there's always another race on the horizon has kept me interested over the long term.

A Second favorite is my Gaiam resistance cord workout - it's the one at Target that comes packaged with a cord and this has also done great things for my core, my speed and my back and shoulders. Plus, it is a fairly enjoyable routine with variations for making things easier or harder as necessary.

Why can I never just pick ONE favorite?

What is your favorite exercise that you have done consistently over the last two years?

Like Corinna, I've become a runner. I really do like it, and I've become fairly consistent, if only because I had to in order to train for the WDW Half twice. The first time I was terrified of being swept, and the second time I really wanted to improve my time. This year, I want to be alot lighter before I start, and see how that works out. I'm pretty sure that will make me faster. I am by no means a speed demon, and I know I can do better!

Hi there-- sorry I just worked 7 days straight and forgot this weeks weigh in. I was going to just quit but put some pants on that were too loose a month ago and they now...fit....:scared1: Not good. My laptop is still not connecting so I haven't been able to be online too much due to back issues. Dumb laptop is connecting everywhere but the house apparently. Husband needs to talk to the router people. :confused3 I refuse to let this happen. Don't worry, I will come around, I'm just venting. I have a couple of days off, that'll help. On the great side, the kittens weaned and running amok and I feel I can trust the other cats with her. I still play with her as much as I can handle as she is a single kitten, she gets kind of clingy when I've been gone a lot (but very sweet and loving) Haven't been exercising much, just been working then watching tv, movies, reading when I get home. That's me though, I've always been a very sedentery person. Well, I need to get some sleep, check back soon.

Good Wednesday Morning EVeryone.

Congrats sahbushka on being the biggest loser this week and to all the other losers this week

It is very cool here this morning. It is supposed to be a nice day here. I have another doctor's appointment but I don't think he is going to do much. i know this cast should come off next week.

Wednesday Question of the Day (really off topic)

Are you a Harry Potter fan?

My family are big Harry Potter fans. WE almost went to the movie last night at midnight but they were sold out. We will be going sometime today. I can't wait. I reread number 6 last week and next week I will reread number 7 after I see the movie.

Have a great day everyone.

Congratulations to this weeks biggest loser -- sahbushka!!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Wednesday Question of the Day

Are you a Harry Potter fan?

Yes, DH & I are definitely Harry Potter fans - from the beginning. We will be going to see the new movie over the weekend.

Congratulations sahbushka and all our biggest losers this week! :cool1:

It seems harder losing weight in the summer but everyone seems to be doing a good job just plugging along or maintaining. :thumbsup2 I know that I want to get my numbers moving back down on the scale instead of maintaining like I have been.

Susan, I was wondering how your little kitty was doing. I am sure that you are glad that she is "weaned" now. I've had a lot of connection issues at home and work lately so I feel your pain. :badpc:

Wednesday Question of the Day (really off topic)

Are you a Harry Potter fan?

We love Harry Potter! DS was too young to read the books when the movies first came out but he has read them all now. I will read Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows while I am on vacation in a couple of weeks. We will see the movie hopefully this week-end. I wanted to see the movie before I read the book.

Have a great OP day everyone!

My younger son was given #4and he had never read 1 - 3. I had never even heard of the books. Before he could read 4 I got him 1 - 3 and we all enjoyed them. We passed them around as each one got read. My ds has read them at least 4 times but I think it could be more. I have read them at least 3 times myself. DS left an hour ago to see the movie and dh and I are going this afternoon.

50sjayne - glad to hear your kitten is doing well. Hopefully now that she's weaned life will settle down a little :goodvibes

Wednesday Question of the Day (really off topic)

Are you a Harry Potter fan?

::yes:: I have been disappointed in the movies (1&2 were the best, 3 was disappointing) and really enjoy the books. I just bought #7 on Monday because it finally came out in paperback, and am half-way through it now. I never heard how it ends, so I'm enjoying reading it now to find out.

Thanks for the congrats all. I am pumped to finally be bl again! Unfortunately I think I may have gained this week due to birthday and mini vaca, but I am back on track and will have a great wi the week after this one! Have a great op day all and don't forget the water!

As far as HP goes, my dh and I are big fans...we went to a bunch of the midnight book releases. I haven't cared for the movies as much as I enjoyed the books though.

Sarah

What is your favorite exercise that you have done consistently over the last two years?

I enjoy Walking on the weekends. I walk at A local park on a 4.8 mile trail that circles the outside part of the park. I listen to relaxing New Age music on my MP4 Player in which I have 1,000 songs

I haven't posted in a long time - we just got back last week from a 6 day vacation to Fort Wilderness and left my daughter in Florida with her friend. Tomorrow we have to go pick her up half way along with her friend. Then next week we are off to the beach for 6 days.:cool1: It has been a super busy Juy. I thought summer was supposed to be lazy days:lmao:

I gained about 4 pounds while we were at WDW (mostly due to massive amts of ice cream eaten - have you seen the garbage pail ice cream at typhoon lagoon??:scared1:), but it was all off in about 4 days so all is good. I am going to try to do better on the next vacation.

QOTD - We love Harry Potter. I am not really a fan of the movies as much as I am the books. We would go to the bookstore and get the books at midnite on the day they came out - at least for the last few. My kids weren't old enough to read them when they first came out. I think I read the first 5 books in about a week!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend.

Congrats to all the losers of the week!!!:cheer2:

How was Fort Wilderness? My family is thinking of going there in 2011 or 2012. Had you been there before? Way to go on getting the weight off so quickly! (must remember garbage pail ice cream!)

Sarah

We had a really good time. There is a lot to do at the Fort and we didn't even begin to do most of it. My advice though is to rent a golf cart. We had a blast riding around on that thing. The pool was really crowded so we didn't use it very much. They have a campfire sing a long with Chip and Dale and a movie every night. One of the neatest things was watching wishes from the beach at the campground. That was really cool. I recommend it you'll have a great time. We are going back in October for 11 nights (3 nights at Saratoga Springs though) and I can't wait. It will be a lot cooler then so camping should be a bit more pleasant!

I got my 4 mile walk in today. I didn't yesterday - took my Birthday off yesterday :) - I'll try to make it up this week maybe by doing an extra lap each day. I was going to do an extra lap tonight- but I started to late and the bats were flying because it was dusk. When one bat flew right in front of my eyes and face - I made that my last lap, lol.

Yesterday and today my calories were in the 1700 range, higher than I wanted - but technically tonight's walk took care of the extra calories and put it in the 1500 range - but then It negates the extra burn off the walk, lol. I'm just going to continue to keep plugging away. So far I haven't been sucessful at lunch or morning. Probably because doing a little more than 4 miles a day is still quite a bit when I wasn't doing it prior and my "toenails" are not enjoying the mileage, lol.

Oh someone asked above about switching up shoes. I wear my specially bought running shoes (That I buy because I had problems when I was doing the marathons). These shoes were around $160 from a running store and have lot support to keep my feet from rolling in ( I think I supponate - if I remember correctly)- I really didn't expect nor have I had till this time the toenail pain. I wonder if the nails were too long - in anticipation of getting a pedicure before going to Disney.

QOTD: Are you a Harry Potter fan?

We have seen the movies, but not read the books. We like the movies, and think they are better than plenty of the tween-aimed movies we see, but also not the best. However, we will certainly be seeing the next one in the theater (we had netflixed the others). DS likes but does not love them.

Good Thursday morning. How is everyone this morning?

The entire family saw the latest Harry Potter. Ds2 saw it by himself at 10 AM and dsh and I saw it at 4 and as we were sitting there ds1 came down to say hello. He was sitting with his gf. We enjoyed it. There was a lot of comedy and a lot of action. It was not exactly like the book but it was very close.

LuvBaloo You should enjoy #7. It takes a while to get through. I am just restarting it again myself.

bobnjenn0828 Welcome back from FW. It is one of my favorite places to stay when we go to DW. I have been there for a week but never longer. Ds2 has had races with people on who can finish the HP books first. I remember buying the book at midnight and he had to have the light on in the car so he can read on the way home and we only live 5 minutes from the bookstore.

sahbushka I love FW but I have only tent camped. Dh and I are thinking about buying a camper and all I can think of is camping with it at FW. we are looking at a very small one just for the two of us.

Thursday Question of the Day

Can you change 1 thing today to help you on the road to being healthy? If so what is it?

I plan to get back to eating more veggies. I have been very lax in the last week or so about veggies. I have been getting in my fruits. I have been drinking a lot of tea without anything added to it. Twinnings makes a tea bag that you can brew it in cold water for iced tea. You don't have to brew and wait for it too cool. I really like them.

Have a great day. I will be back later to bring back the COW for next week.

Cut back on Potato Chips. Allthough I do not eat as much as I did last year and years past. But I eat a small bag of chips with my lunch
