Yeah - I'm not on that list - WHEW!!

Monday QOTD: What is your favorite "newest" food gadget?

I posed this question because I just got a "spiralizer" or they also call them a "spirooli". This morning I picked a huge zuchinni from my garden and then diced some organic cucumbers and threw in a little olive oil, sea salt and pepper. YUMMO! I got to use it for the first time today, and all I can say is WOW. I can't wait to use a zuchinni in place of real pasta. It really changes the taste of the zuchinni and gives it a whole new rebirth!:cloud9:

I also gotta sing praises of my Vitamix I got for my birthday - I'm loving that too!!:cloud9:

As far as the new "season/challenge" goes: I'm here to help in any way needed, and I expect to kick some butt when it starts :)

I guess one thing we have to think about is do we want teams or one big thread. I know it will be busier than the summer challenge. I'm torn there - I like a big thread to get to know everyone, but I know that it will be hard to keep up with at the beginning.

Saturday's QOTD: What is your favorite salad that you make at home and what is your favorite homemade salad dressings?
Mixed greens, craisins or raisins, raw almonds & raspberry vinaigrette (store-bought). Sometimes I just do olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Sunday QOTD: 10 Happy Things
This is actually a tough one for me. Hmm...
10. Reading a good book 9. When DH has cleaned without me telling him to 8. DD doing something especially cute/smart 7. Sleeping in (not that I ever do that) 6. Date night 5. Performing in a play/show (not that I do that anymore either) 4. Spending time outside 3. Get-togethers with friends/family 2. Any vacation 1. Disney vacation

Monday QOTD: Newest food gadget
We bought the food chopper/stick blender all-in-one thing. Made homemade wheat breadcrumbs last night and have pureed some other stuff with it.
http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CSB...3JRO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1248714849&sr=8-6

And after a weekend of staying within my daily points, I'm up 2 pounds this morning:confused3 This is why I normally don't do mid-week weigh-ins. Oh well, I'm going to call it indigestion and stay with my plan for the week. :goodvibes

 to you, Shannon. It's frustrating but I am sure that you will be heading back in the right direction in no time!

Yeah - I'm not on that list - WHEW!!

Melanie, the spiralizer looks kind of fun. I see it does a few other things besides spiralizing -- I was picturing your family saying "Mah-ahmm! Spiral carrots again?!?" ;)

A kitchen gadget that isn't new to me but "newly discovered" in my utensil drawer is my little hand grater. I've used it for lemon zesting, cheese grating and garlic grating just this week-end.

I'm here and ready to do whatever is needed for the fall BL challenge. I am up for hosting or putting together the coaching schedule or anything really. As we said when deciding to extend this challenge, it is a democratic group and everyone's opinions are welcome! :goodvibes The big thread is cumbersome at first but gets more manageable as time goes on. I don't like teams because you lose out on a lot of good information, support and inspiration unless you read both (or all) threads. Maybe teams but a big thread or combined later to a big thread?

Remember folks there are still six weigh ins for this challenge so lots of time to get a head start before the fall.

Have a great day, losers!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Haven't posted in awhile because I haven't felt like I've had anything to add, but I enjoy reading. My new job has been doing wonders for this because of the amount of activity. When I unpack my pedometer, I'm going to wear it to work one day to see how many miles I walk in a single day at work. Of course, running up and down a rollercoaster lift does tend to help things. ;) Hope everybody's summer is going great!

As Lisa said, BL Central is starting to talk about the next challenge and a poll will be posted probably sometime later this week so those who couldn't participate in the summer challenge will see it and be able to respond. We're getting excited and can't wait to hear your ideas!

Okay, for me its nothing fancy like a spiralizer, but I've started using my garlic press more, and adding fresh garlic to many dishes.

I'd guess that after running up and down the rollercoaster for the summer, your teaching job in the fall will seem relaxing in comparison :thumbsup2

As for the new challenge, I like the one main thread, just for getting more ideas / more discussion. The multiple teams adds a bit more competition to it, which may deter some people from reporting gains; on the flip side, maybe some people do better when they don't want to let their team down :confused3 Either way, I'm sticking around :thumbsup2 I may not be getting too far with this summer one, but I know I'd have done worse if I wasn't participating ::yes::

I know exactly what you mean! That's why I like to help out. I find I have a lot more incentive if I'm actually doing something, it keeps me motivated. If I were just on my own, it would be a lot harder. It's really motivating to see your name on the list, or on the flip side, to be able to admit your failings and have a group of people who understands.

This has been my first BL so I don't know if I have any ideas for the Fall one. I hope to be close to my overall goal by the end of this challenge, but would like to continue with the next BL. It will help me lose the last few, and hold me accountable to maintaining! I've really enjoyed the inspiration and accountability our little thread provides. :lovestruc

Yay, I remembered this week!

As for the new challenge, I like the one main thread, just for getting more ideas / more discussion. I do like the one main thread also, but I know in the fall there is usually a lot more people starting out, and I have had a hard time keeping up with the regular team thread in the beginning. And I totally know that staying a part of this challenge has definitely helped me to minimize the damage this summer.

I feel a little more in control this week. We had a nice weekend with family, and I did not eat out of control like I have the past month. I weighed in at ww and was up 4 pounds, but I started tracking my food again, which is key for me. I did ok on the weekend, and today was better and I went for a walk this morning.

I also booked a disney trip with the free quick service dining for november with my DB, Dsil, and Dniece. They are who we travelled to wdw with 3 years ago for my son's 5th birthday, when I fell in love with the place. Funny, my weight now is about where it was then, down 20 pounds from my all time high, then my next trip, I was down another 20, and last january I had gained back 10 of that, and now I've gained back another 10. So looking forward, realistically, I'm going to push to lose at least 10 pounds before november. I'm glad there's another 6 weeks to this challenge and I hope to lose a few before my august vacation.

today's qotd- I'm pretty boring in the kitchen, but I did get my mom's blender recently, with the thought of making smoothies, but have only tried it out on pina coladas so far.

Yesterday's 10 things that make me happy= 1. hugs from my son 2. when he asks me to lay down with him at night. 3. vacations, esp disney 4. family gatherings 5. my lawn freshly mowed by my lawn man (this is the first year i hired him, and I love it, one less stress.) 6. weekends away 7. looking at pictures 8. watching my son play with his cousins 9. planning my disney trips 10. a finished scrapbook. (got lots in progress)

That was great question Melanie.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Hi Mikamah! :)
I think your goal of a 10pound loss for November sounds very reasonable and realistic.

I liked the big thread in January because there was always new posts to read whenever I came on. The team threads in the spring were harder for me; being in the purple team, was very slow with only about 3 people regularly posting. But it sounds like many people are intimidated with a large thread; perhaps the best option is to set the number of threads based on how many people are participating?:confused3 And merge things together if the numbers get too low.:confused3

Although I haven't been around as much for this challenge and I haven't lost much at all, I know it has continued to keep me accountable and kept me from gaining over all.

I plan on being around for the next one too...don't believe I can tackle being a team coach but a weekly one I think I can swing when the time comes.

I too find that at the beginning the one thread was a little more work but really enjoyed getting to know each other from the beginning. I didn't get to know the other team when we were split up just because I never made it over to that team thread, etc.

Need to run and check a few other things...heading to the coast to pick up dd today then dh and I are heading to the mountains on Friday.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

Monday QOTD: What is your favorite "newest" food gadget?

I absolutely love our Margaritaville Machine. We use it to make icees and smoothies a lot. I tell myself that if I made the smoothie with half ice then I am getting half of the calories and making a dent into my water consumption for the day. I like that you can't really tell that there is so much ice since it is grated so fine.

I am looking forward to the next challenge. I think that I will be able to give it more effort. I started this one late so I am still trying to 'get with the program':) Plus, I have been on vacation for the past month which has been really bad for me. We are staying with my parents in Michigan and they tend to eat at least one meal out everyday! Even though I haven't been able to post much, I have been reading everyone else's posts and it has really helped. I am actually proud that I have been able to maintain since I have been here. I will be returning home in a week and a half and plan to really kick it in gear then.

I don't think I would be comfortable being a coach as I am still trying to figure everything out myself, but I REALLY appreciate the people that are coaches!:worship:

Hello, losers! Hope everyone is having a great OP day!

Tammy, have fun in the mountains. It looks like your moose clippie went ahead of you -- but that might just be my computer. ;) I know he is a wily one!

FLAngie, sounds like you are doing great staying on plan during your vacation.

I am just leaving the office after the big work crunch before vacation -- whew! :scared:

So for the next few days you can picture me sitting on this deck
OKOBOJIDECK2009.jpg
drinking green tea or MIL's specialty margaritas -- yum! Plan is to have lots of salad and fruit salad to stay OP.

I will have limited access by iPhone and my MIL's laptop so may pop in a time or two.

Have a great week, losers! See you soon and keep up the good work!

I am seriously so far behind I don't know where to start. I have gained yet another pound. It seems I lose 2 pounds then gain a pound. I seem to be getting nowhere. I don't know what happened last week. I thought I had been good but I didn't track so maybe not. This week, I have just lost the plot. I have been so hungry and I just can't seem to stop myself from indulging. It doesn't help that I am on a new team at work and I really don't like the work. It is customer telephone contact which I have a huge irrational fear about. Yesterday, I made 1 call (I should be making 50). It took me half an hour to build up the courage and I had to write myself a script out. I don't have to ask anything difficult or sell anything but I just don't feel comfortable. After the call, I had butterflies for hours later.

I keep turning to food as comfort which I know is wrong. I just don't know what else to do. I want to find the motivation to exercise when I am stressed but so far I haven't found it.

As for ideas for the new challenge, I also like the main thread to talk about things. Although, I think a team challenge would motivate me more. Maybe we could have teams to do challenges (COW) or something like that. I have to say I have really enjoyed being involved and it has definitely helped me to stay motivated (which I have really struggled with otherwise). In fact, I am very lucky to have all of your support as well the support from the people and leader at my WW meetings. If we do have teams, I would love to be involved, if you will have me. If you don't have teams I would also still loved to be involved.

I have to just keep telling myself, comfort eating isn't hurting anyone but me.

It sounds like everyone is having a good week so far. Keep up the good work and just keep swimming :fish:

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars for Week 10 of our BL Summer Challenge!

Week 10 Biggest Loser!!

#1-1.84%- sabushka:banana::banana:

This summer challenge has been a struggle for some of us (including me). With 6 weigh-ins left, there's still lots of time. Remember to stay positive, be proud of your successes and learn from your mistakes.

Here's a couple of quotes I'm using to keep me motivated:

Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can.
(unknown author)

It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.
(Vince Lombardi)

The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!
(Marvin Phillips)

You know what to do to make the magic happen. Get on the wagon. We are all here to help you on the journey. We can do this one day at a time. One bite at a time.
(Dare2Dream)

Congrat's to sabushka and ALL the BL's!! Way to go- Keep up the great job!

As far as the fall competition. I really like the single threads, because I do believe a lot of people drop off after a few weeks, but I do realize how big it gets too.

I'll go with the majority though I'm easy to please :)

Today's QOTD is brought to you by the fact that I just did online check in for POP Century and I'm so excited.

Tuesday's QOTD:

What is your favorite Disney Hotel and why:

Mine is the AKL because I just love the theming and it's so incredibly beautiful. I do love the monorail hotels for ease of getting to MK & Epcot - but the theming at AKL is so wonderful. Plus I love the animals.

POP will always be near and dear to my heart . It's so much fun and the price is so great that it allows us to take LONG vacations!!

:grouphug: maznorm :grouphug:

I like to always find something positive in everything, and reading your post, the first thing I thought of, was that you did successfully complete a customer call:cheer2:
The second thing that jumped out at me, is that I completely understand where your coming from with comfort eating and trying to find motivation for exercise. I haven't mastered that yet, but sometimes, it helps to ask myself (and I mean literally talk to myself) "what do you want more, to get healthier or to eat that?"

And the last thing about your post that caused my mind to shout out is:

Of course we want you in the next challenge!
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Hey all! I am very excited to be the BL this week!!!! :cool1: What a great boost for when I feel like eating something I know I shouldn't and what great motivation to get back in the gym....I haven't been going much lately.

For those of you on WW....did you know that 9 peanut m&m's are 3 points! Isn't that crazy! I used to eat a 1 lb bag of them at a sitting! That would have been days worth of points! Crazy!

Favorite Disney Hotel....hmmmm...hard one....I have to say I LOVED my stay at the Port Orleans Riverside when it was Dixie Landings! It was really great. As far as one I would love to stay at in the future....Grand Californian or Wilderness Lodge....they feel so warm and cozy and I love that you can get bunk beds for the kiddos! How fun! Hopefully someday!

Sarah

A great big congratulations to sahbushka and all our superstars this week! :cool1:

Thanks, Shannon, for the interesting statistics -- interesting that half of us gained and half of us lost. I liked the quotes, too. :)

maznorm, :grouphug:, we've all been there!

Tuesday's QOTD:

What is your favorite Disney Hotel and why:

At Disneyland, it is the Grand Californian. At WDW, it is a tie between Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom -- anyone seeing a pattern, here? :thumbsup2 I have to say the animals are a bit draw for me, maybe even more than taking the boat to MK.

Onwards and downwards, losers!

QOTD: Funny you should ask. I just had one of the department heads at work come to my desk Friday and ask for my favorite WDW resort. I had to give one from each catagory however. POP for value, POFQ for moderate and after hemming and hawing I said ALK for a deluxe, mostly because it is the most unique. I also love Wilderness Lodge because it makes me feel like I'm at summer camp!
