BL Challenge ~BLUE TEAM~ Week 9

I walked 2 miles on my treadmill last night when I got home from work. I'm off today and plan on walking another 2 miles in a little bit. I've been eating really good lately. My mind has been in the right "zone" the last few days, so I'm taking advantage of it before it changes.

I hope everyone is having a good week. Go Blue - Lisa.

QOTD Tuesday: Is there any activity that you don't do now that you think you will do when you lose some weight?

I would love to be able to jog some with my walking...need some additional pounds off before I attempt it though.

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

Some weeks when I finish my calculations they surprise me. I then recheck everything and then step away for awhile. Well I have stepped away but the numbers still say what they say. Let's take a look.

-------------------Black Team-----Blue Team-----Red Team-----Total
started week---------20-------------24------------26------------70
removed---------------3--------------2-------------5------------10
current-members------17-------------22------------21------------60
not reporting 1 wk------4--------------1-------------6------------11
not reporting 2 wk------2--------------7-------------1------------10
weigh ins for week-----11-------------14------------14------------39

For your information on Week 1 we had 138 participants and 107 weigh ins. Where has everyone gone??? This week I have had to drop a member of Biggest Loser Central (our tireless leaders) for not reporting in for three weeks. WOW! The faithful and hearty on the ones that are left here. Let's stick this out losers!

Now on to the fun.

Blue Team Week 8

14 weigh ins
3 gains totaling 15.5 lbs
4 maintains
7 losses totaling 8.2 lbs
2 removed from challenge with a losses totaling 3.8 lbs

Weekly net GAIN 7.3 lbs
Cumulative net loss 152.7 lbs

Now the real fun begins. Let's look at our Blue Team Superstars.

Once again we will include the following disclaimers. If you skip weeks your percentage is adjusted accordingly. If you gained last week and lost this week that affects your percentage. If you lost this week but are still working on losing last weeks gain you are not named a superstar. If you got problems with that PM or email me to gripe about it.

And of course the standard disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. I try not to. Believe me I really pour over all this stuff before I post it for you. I strive to be as accurate as possible. If you have a concern please PM or email me.

That's enough blubbering for now. I bet nobody even read it anyway. Here's what you're waiting to see.

We have had a few close weeks but that did not happen this week. One team clearly dominated the numbers this week. Let's see who it was.

The week 8 WISH BL 6 Challenge Biggest Loser Team

#3-The Black Team with a net GAIN for the week and -0.295% (a negative percentage of pounds lost)
To be #1 they would have had to lose an additional 14.4 pounds

#2-The Blue Team also had a net GAIN and -0.259% (a negative percentage)
To be #1 we would have had to lose an additional 17.7 pounds

and now announcing our weekly Biggest Loser Team Champions

#1-The Red Team-0.367%

The Red Team has pulled a victory for three weeks in a row. What are you we going to do about that Blue Team? The end is near and it would be great to see Blue at #1 again wouldn't it? To do that we need to work together. Chatter on the team thread. Encourage and challenge each other. Be responsible and be accountable. Remember why you started with this challenge.

I was thrilled with adnil530-Linda's enthusiasm this week. She is the weekly Red Team Biggest Loser. She is almost at her goal weight. This challenge has really helped her.

A big part of my motivation is being part of a team. I am a team player. I would be embarrassed to post a gain, I would take that as a failure. I would beat myself up a bit for a maintain. I am well aware of what that extra piece of pizza would do to me, so I put it back.

Thanks for the inspiration Linda. You are proof that it CAN be done and we can help each other along the way.

We only have 5 more weigh ins. There is time to make a difference if you work hard. You are worth the effort. Wouldn't it be great to see your name in colors before this challenge ends? You know what to do and you can do it. Get to work. You can be a superstar!!

Have a healthy day!

Congratulations Lisa!:cool1:

I hope everyone is doing ok this week. I know I'm sort of struggling with keeping things interesting - not just the exercise but the food as well. I know I get in a rut of the same thing for breakfast and lunch everyday - dinner is always different but then I feel unsatisfied in the later afternoon- especially around 3:00 pm - anyone else? I'm also running out of dinner ideas of things my kids (including DH) will eat. I tried Greek style meatballs tonight made with 93% lean ground turkey and a ff yogurt lemon cucumber sauce. I liked them and it was 4 pts for 5 meatballs. But then my littlest one said "dad, when's mom gonna be done with this thing so we can go back to the way she used to cook":rotfl: I guess that was a resounding NO for this dinner. Sigh.... sometimes I feel like Sisyphus and my rock is the whole weight gain/weight loss battle.

Have a great week everyone!

I am posting this early, because I am on call tonight, and I may not be able to post it tomorrow am...

QOTD Wednesday: What is your favorite ride in a Disney Park?

QOTD Wednesday: What is your favorite ride in a Disney Park?

Would have to say Rock n Roller Coaster...will be riding it in a couple of weeks!!

Congrats Lisa...great going:cool1: . Come on blue team, let's get our numbers back up:woohoo: :woohoo: . Let's make these last WI's great ones, I know we can do it. We will be leaving for Disney 11/28 and won't be back until 12/14 but I'm planning on taking my scale. I'm thinking that knowing that I still have to WI while at the World it will help keep me on track and hopefully not show gains.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!!!

Wow, thank you njmom and tammy. I worked really hard to keep up my exercise routine on the treadmill last week, so far I've been doing pretty good this week. NJ, I know what you mean about dinner, my DH keeps making comments to me as why don't I have as much or any bread on my plate as he does. He knows I'm trying to lose, he just likes to pick on me.

I've gotten in a routine for breakfast, instant oatmeal and maybe a yogurt later. Lunch is usually 3 pieces of ham and some chocolate pudding. Dinner is usually a little heavier, but I get a 1 cup measuring cup out and measure whatever the meat/chicken item we are having. I've been trying to eat more fruit for a snack - but I'm not doing very well with this.

Tammy we are going to be in WDW the 2nd week of December. I also thought about bring my scales, but I'll have to see how much space I have in the car. My parents are going with us, so it will be 4 peoples luggage, plus all the "extra stuff" in the back of my suv.

What did you think of last nights BL? I was very happy with the outcome. I tried something new for me during the commercials. I got my 2 pound hand weights out and whenever a commercial came on, I got up and did different arm activities. My arms were burning. I left the weights in the living room, I'm going to try to do this more often.

QOTD- I love the Tower of Terror. I start laughing as it goes up and down and usually, I can't even tell that we are done.

Sorry, I'm rambling this morning, I need to get back to work, hope everyone has a good day - Lisa.

Yesterday was good for me. I stayed OP, exercised and even drank all of my water. YIPEE!! I am on the right path again. The scale even confirmed that this morning.

Monday QOTD: Do you have any hobbies to help you take your mind off of food?

I DIS all the time, if not the DIS then somewhere else on the internet. Sometimes if I want to snack I will get a cup of water and get on the computer. You know time flies while surfing the internet and I can usually ride out the snack attack.

Tuesday QOTD: Is there any activity that you don't do now that you think you will do when you lose some weight?

As per my tag I love to walk around the block. I have not been doing that too much lately because I am too embarrassed because of my weight. I want to do that again. I love to see the beauty of nature. I think I will also enjoy hiking when I am thinner. This geocaching thing sounds like something fun DH and I could do together. He want to ride ATVs. I am definitely not up to that yet.

Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite ride in a Disney Park?

I am a Disney Park baby compared to most of you folks. I went to DL over 30 years ago as a teenager and enjoyed the Haunted Mansion. My in-laws took us to Epcot when they lived in FL 12 years ago. The only real ride I remember from that trip was the Norway boat ride with the trolls. Before DSs California wedding reception in 05 DH and I went to DL. My favorite ride of that trip was soarin' at DCA.

Another thing to do when I get thinner is to take that dream trip to WDW. DH thinks it is stupid for two adults to go there but he does see an advantage to going so we can prepare for sharing an adventure there with our grandkids.

Monday we got exciting news. I have two grandsons and grandbaby #3 is on the way. It is a GIRL!! After the doctor read the sonogram and proclaimed it was a girl he said they are never wrong about the sex of the baby. He said if it is a boy, which he knows it is not, he will pay for the circumcision.

So much excitement. So many wonderful things in life. What a reason to get healthy so I can live a long happy life enjoying it all.

Check in Blue and let us know what is on your mind today. There are so many faces that have disappeared from our thread. I miss all you guys and want to hear from you again. We are a team and we CAN do it together!

Have a healthy day!

Good morning Blue -

Just back from the Family Y in our area - tried the whole "strive" circuit this morning. My left arm is shaking from fatigue but my right side is fine - I guess I must use more of the muscles on my right side than on my left.

QOTD - Sheepishly admitting that my favorite ride at Disney is the Dumbo ride and I'm so glad that my DD is young enough to still enjoy it so I have an "excuse" to go on it.

Speaking of Disney - I'm headed out to Florida tomorrow night for my first solo trip. I can't believe I'm telling anyone this - because I feel so chicken now that the time is here to go alone. I'm not worried about my safety - I'm just scared I'll be lonely and really miss the kids and DH.Actually what I'm really afraid of is the stares that say "she's a big fat cow that can't even get anyone to go to Disneyworld with her" if I'm being totally honest. I've always wanted to watch a shuttle launch and my family has no desire whatsoever to go. They can't wait for me to go so they can and I quote - "Pig out on Pizza, have dad grill burgers, stay up late, watch a lot of tv, and go to mcDonalds". I keep telling myself it will be ok - that he's a good dad and I have to let go and let him handle it - even if it is different than what I would do. So I'm going to watch Fridays launch and check out the Cocoa beach area and take a drive to Vero beach (to see Disney's Vero beach) and then over to WDW for 2 days.

Brenda - Good for you for staying OP, exercising AND drinking all your water! It's a triple shot day! :cheer2:

To my Blue team friends - thanks for being there for me to post to - when I'm feeling down and out. I may not be the biggest loser in weight - but inside I AM the biggest loser because I am losing my bad eating and not exercising habits and replacing them with healthy habits - and I've gained new friends - so Thanks. Have a healthy day Blue!
Lisa

Lisa, good for you. I've always thought a solo trip would be fun. Just think, you can do exactly what YOU want to do and go where YOU want to go without having to worry about pleasing others. People are not going to looking at you - except with jealous glance! That is awesome that you will be able to catch the shuttle launch, I'm sure it will be an amazing sight.

Keep up the good work. I love to come to this board too, it always inspires me and gets me in a good mood. Stay safe and healthy - Lisa.

How wonderful that you are going to live your dream of seeing a launch. As that magnificent rocket soars into the sky remember that you too can soar to any heights you want. You are not a big fat cow. You are a strong secure independent women taking some time to do something for herself.

As long as you are in the area of course a trip to WDW is in order. I am so jealous. As you enjoy a sinful Disney treat think of us. Then get back in control and don't blow all your hard work.

I'm sure DH and the kids will be OK for a while with you gone. In your absence hopefully they will appreciate all you actually do for them.

I have one more 30 minute exercise session scheduled for this evening and that will end successful day #3. I had all my water drank by 1 PM. I am finally doing it and it feels GREAT!!

Safe and healthy travels to you Lisa. We want a full report when you return.

Hi Teammates! I have had the weirdest week so far!!!

We were served with our WARN Act notice yesterday - which means that Jan.9-23 there will be significant layoffs. They had to give us a 60 day notice because they have already hit a reduction of 33%. Ok so that REALLY sucks! I'm a bit bummed and thinking that I probably won't be able to go to WDW and the Poly next year...:sad2: We had a HUGE layoff about two weeks ago and personally my department was cut in half. I'm sitting here wondering how we can afford to lose anymore :confused3

On a good note one of the moms of a future girl scout found us a place to meet starting Monday so our Brownie troop will be getting off the ground finally. I had arranged to get things going at the school but the board only meets once a month and due to a a clerical problem at the school we didn't make it on the agenda for this months meeting. I found out Monday when I called to confirm that we were scheduled. :scared1:

I'm doing okay with my eating and exercise despite all of my setbacks. Thanks for allowing me to vent a little

Congratulations Lisa on your weight loss! Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Congrats on working so hard! You deserve the reward. And I did something similar last night too. during the commercials I got up and did push ups, jumping jacks and situps. I was very proud of myself!

Good morning Blue -

Have a fantastic trip!!! I have always wanted to see a shuttle launch. Back in 2006 we were actually on the grounds of KSC waiting for the launch and they had to delay it. OHHH, it was so frustrating. I hope you have great luck!!!

As far as going solo and your fears... first of all, congrats on voicing them, because that is 1/2 the battle. And don't worry, you are going to have a great time, but know that there are some people that speak without thinking. Case in point: During MNSSHP we were talking to a man in line who was on a solo trip. He was seated at a restaurant and when he told the waiter that it was just him, the waiter said... "Oh, that is so sad". :sad2: So PLEASE, if someone says something, it might not be related to size at all, just the idea of being on a solo trip. People just always don't get it. But HOW LUCKY ARE YOU???? You get to do exactly what you want, when you want, and at what speed you want! Have a great time!

Leanne

Hang in there, Scary times for sure.

QOTD: My family LOVES splash mountain, I LOVE Soarin', Peter Pan, IASW, BUZZ (especially because I maxed out!:rotfl: ), Everest, RNRC, TOT, Does Carrousel of Progress count?, Big Thunder (especially at night), hmmm, too hard for me to pick 1!:lmao:

I am really looking forward to Friday, I am going to an all day seminar (work is paying for me to go) called "fighting fat after thirty" with 4 main areas. Stealth fat: how to recognize the enemy and destroy it (obesity, female fat cell, physiology of the fat cell, holiday weight gain, overweight or overfat, liposuction). Food for fighting fat: how to eat and still loose weight (protein diets, paleolithic diet, carbs, sugar substitues, etc) Physical feats for fighting fat: (20min workout, finding motivation, weight training, walking, stress reduction. And Psychological correlates of appetite and weight control (stress cascade, breaking stress rlated eating cycle, conquering food cravings and addiction, maintaining body weight, portion control, 4 common clinical conditions and how they're related ~ obesity, depression, chronic pain, and sleep deprivation).

I am sooo excited about this, and hoping I get the motivation I need and a kick in the pants to finally be consistent!

Princess Vija, that does sound like an exciting class. Have fun, share what you can.

It's almost Friday - hope everyone is having a good week. - Lisa.

I apologize for being an MIA co captain. Sadly, this has taken to the back burner of late.

I have my licensing exam for teaching on Saturday and that has taken a lot of time. I am also entering week 3 of being sick. I've not been counting points, and right now I'm coughing so bad exercise is out of the question. The good thing is I have maintained. I'm hoping that after this weekend things will get better. It doesn't help that tomorrow we are all bringing treats for our study party, Friday is a Thanksgiving potluck with one of my campus organizations, and Saturday is a potluck followed by a bar crawl with the other grad students to celebrate teh exam being over.

Eeyores Butterfly - I'm sorry that you have not been feeling good. Wow, you do have a lot going on in the next few days. Good luck with it all, stay strong.

I got up this morning when my alarm went off (5:15) and walked a mile on my treadmill before I took my shower. It was not too bad. After I finished I went to the kitchen and fixed my lunch, so I could cool down. Now if I can just get motivated to do this more often.

Have a good day Blue - Lisa.

Wow - Thank you all for such kind words.... I'm really touched by the generous spirit you all have. Thank you.

Leanne - I'm so sorry for your notice - I'm sure you are feeling very stressed right now. Please hang in there the best that you can right now.

Jessie - 3 weeks of being sick!:scared: Yucko! Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon.

Vija - What a really interesting seminar you are attending. I hope you will post here and tell us about it when you have a few free minutes. It sounds fantastic and I hope it helps you get back on track.

Lisa - Great job on the early am date with the treadmill! Way to go!

Brenda - Way to GO! I promise to let you all know how it was and I AM going to stay OP while I'm away. I hope you continue to stay on track and feel better. I am def. with you on the COW challenge!

I played on a BMI calculator this morning and discovered that if I lose 8 more pounds while on this challenge - my BMI will no longer be in the Obese category. I will be the very last possible number for the Overweight category. Keeping that in focus will really help me while I'm away.

Thank you all again for your kind words and thoughts. For those in scary situations. Take care of yourself. We are all sending some pixie dust pixiedust: your way.

Have a great rest of the week everyone

Sorry this is so late, I am just getting on the computer now and I have to get off in a minute for the next thing on my agenda for today... busy, busy, busy...
