BL Challange - Red Team - Week 1

How did you exercise today? What did you eat?
Breakfast: I had half a bagel with tbsp of peanut butter.
Lunch: Lean Cuisine, the chicken rice bowl. With a 100 calorie pack cookie for dessert.
Dinner will be tough because we are going to the San Gennaro Feast and there will be tons of good Italian food!! I'll probably just have a bite of this and a bite of that.

Exercise was walking and doing my Biggest Loser DVD.

Dinner is going to be tough and I hate to say it but it will likely be Taco Bell.
I LOVE Taco Bell. LOL I'll just get something small from their new Fresco Menu.

Everyone is doing so good with their exercising. That's one thing I'm still struggling with.

Hey Red Team! My name is Lisa and I'm 43 years old. I've been married to my husband, Gary, for 14 year on 10/8, have 2 sons (Zac and Noah, soon to be 13 & 11). I live in Northeast Ct.
I'm so excited to be joining this challenge, have never done one before and definitely need the motivation. I need to lose a little over 100 lbs, currently 258. I started watching what I was eating last week and have lost 4 so far. I like to walk but just never seem to find the time.
My husband and I are going to Vegas in March and next December we are taking my parents to Disney. I also want to do the Disney 1/2 marathon in 2010. I plan on focusing losing weight and getting fit and then next fall I will do the Marathoning for Mortals 1/2 marathon training program.
I look forward to getting to know you all and getting and receiving support. I've been a long time lurker but never really got involved. That's changed now:yay:

Good evening Red Team!

Wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself. My name is Jennie, I live in a small town in Northern Virginia. I'm 34, married to my DH for 11 years. We have a eight year old son, and twin daughters that are four years old. I'm also a SAHM - but I'm hardly ever home, LOL. I'm 5'10, and while I'm thinking I'll probably lose about 40 pounds, my main goals are to eat better and move more. I'm loosely following Weight Watchers - but not exactly, because I disagree with how they figure out some of the points values on food. I'd rather eat a 2 pt veggie than a 0 pt popsicle - I think my body would get more out of the veggie, know what I mean?

My weight has never been an issue per say, but my crappy eating habits sure have been. This past year has been very hard for my family - my grandparents died in May, and my father was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in June. I'm tired of waiting until xxx day to get healthy - my time is NOW.

For exercise, I have a Wii Fit, and I like to work out with the Firm DVD's. I'm hoping to run/walk in a Disney marathon one day - but I'm not sure how to get information on those? Link please, anyone? I know that there are groups getting ready for a ToT run, and I've heard about the Princess one next year, but I don't think I'll be ready for those.

So, very excited about being part of the team, and being accountable to others! Everyone have a great night!

Hello Fellow Red Team Mates. My name is Linda and I am 48 years old. My husband Mike and I have been married 25 years in Nov. We have 4 children, 2 girls who are out on their own and 2 girls ages 12 & 8. I have always been 115-125 lbs. Then I quit smoking 3 years ago, I am hormonally changing, and I love to gorge out on food. Went to the Doctor the other day their chart says I am obese. I thought I was just pleasantly plump or chubby hugable. No less, I'd like to see myself get below 150 lbs.

I look forward to being on this team. This is a new one for me.

Linda

I have to share my victory for day one! You guys have already inspired me! It was just me and DD for dinner so we headed to a little diner close to home. I always get food covered with gravy when we go there...including gravy on the fries. Tonight I thought about this challenge, and reporting to this group, and it gave me the kick I need. I ordered a grilled chicken breast with baked potato, carrots, and a salad. So far so good, day one!
For lunch I ate half of a chicken caesar salad (split with a friend) and a slice of cheese pizza. Could be better, could be worse.
For breakfast I had a bowl of cinnamon Life cereal.
That's what I've eaten today. No snacks. Oh, wait, someone gave me a bite sized peppermint patty at work today and I ate it. It really does help make you think twice to be accountable!

Exercise today, I did 4 miles on the treadmill. I'm planning to go downstairs and use the wii fit for 30 minutes, but it sounds like DH and DD might be on, in which case I'll just head to bed. I've got a big training run planned for tomorrow morning!

LisaViolet ~ I live in the Burlington area, so you come right by me when you come through!!

Well, off to check on the status of the wii...it's either exercise or bed...drumroll please...

Lisa- I am planning on doing the Disney 1/2 in January 2010!!! I am not familiar with the Marathoning for Mortals program, will look into it. We could be marathoning buddies!!!

Well friends, my day went like this: Ran 7 miles, came home did laundry, went shopping. Came home, took a short nap, picked up DD took her our to eat, then to Tae Kwon Do.

My eating today:

B-bowl of cereal
L-Kashi granola bar
D-BBQ chicken salad at Nothing but Noodles, chocolate chip cookie.

I have had my fill of water, I drink 80-100 oz each day. DH wants ice cream, but I am trying to resist. But I may have a small bit, I have calories left in my allowance for today. Weather here is rainy, will probably walk on the TM in the am. The inlaws and I are running a 5k on Sunday, The Teal Ribbon Run for ovarian cancer (MIL's best friend died last year of it). I am going to try to run a PR(personal record) of less than 32 minutes, which would be shaving 2 minutes off my last 5k time.

Tomorrow will not be a good eating day-USC v OSU Football game. We have planned this "football night" with pizza and wings for a few weeks, but I am going to eat less. As long as it is a once in a while thing, not an all the time thing, it should be okay.

Glad to meet everyone who has posted up, looking forward to losing with all of you!!

Talk about jumping on the band wagon! When did you get the biggest loser dvd? I also agree with the taco bell comment! It can be done well! I am also struggling with getting excersize in. I work so much overtime I barely see my kids or sleep let alone work out. I will have to work on this!

I work for the federal government, and spend all day long sitting at a desk. Yikes!:scared1:

GO TEAM RED!!!:cheer2:

I work there too! I sent you a PM!

Today I have had a bowl of oatmeal with a 1/2 cup of lf milk, a string cheese, a healthy choice meal, and a WW ice cream bar. I am making ww chili beef tacos tonight for dinner! Yumm! I have had 6 bottles of water so far today!

Great job everyone!

Sarah

Boy you are fast, I just came here to post this and BAM! it is already posted.

I have added our new team members to the first post.

Yes, I am speedy like that and bored too lol. I seriously am on the computer almost all day. I work for ChaCha so I browse the dis while waiting on
questions.

I'd love to do a marathon or a half marathon...2010 may be the perfect year for it too...lol We can have our own Dis Red Team twice removed team...lol

Ya'll inspired me already. Wed. and Fri.'s are normally my days off for exercise, but after reading everyone's intro threads, I went and walked 35 minutes on the treadmill.

What did I eat today? Well, probably not the best day by any means, but I had a few small victories along the way.

B: Kashi Cocoa Beach and 1/2 c. 2% milk. (I measured the cereal for the first small victory)
L: Found out it was someone's birthday today when I walked into work and saw food all over the place. :scared1: Had a BBQ, one spoonful of potato salad, a small handful of chips, and steered clear of the desserts. :thumbsup2 D:At my Mom's....so it was hamburgers, rice and gravy-I ate half of what I normally would have and loaded up on the broccoli instead. Refused dessert much to my Mom's dismay.
Snack:banana

Everyone's off to a fantastic start! :yay:

Hey There! This is my first time being active in a forum on the dis boards, I am pretty shy in real life and on the internet. I am trying to break out of my shell :)

My name is Ingrid I'm 35 and I live on an island in Washington State with my husband Ralph and my kiddos who are 13 & 10. I work at home doing insurance billing and my office is currently in the kitchen. We are remodeling our house which has led to diminished space and my treadmill being in the living room which is a less than ideal place to work out if anyone is at home.

We just got off of the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise a few weeks ago and had an amazing time! I however put on 10 pounds on the cruise. I am a super yo-yo dieter and am aiming to lose the same 30 pounds for the third time. However I would be happy losing just 19 either way my goal this time is keep it off! We are going to Hawaii in Feb/March for our 15th anniversary and I want to feel better about my body then I did on the cruise.

So my plan is to 5x a week do the following....45 minutes on the treadmill, 20 minute hike with my dogs in the woods, and 25 minute Gilad workout with weights. I usually hike with the dogs and swim with the kids on the weekends. I really want to get my kids more active as well. I eat very well and my major downfall is beer uhm beer. I am taking two weeks off from my favorite beverage as a kick start to my weight loss. Thanks for having me and I look forward to supporting each one of you and getting to know you!!!!

~Ingrid

Yep ended up at TB but I was VERY surprised to find that if I didn't eat the shell & tortilla strips and I usually skip the salsa the Taco Salad was only 360 calories not even close to the over 800 calories it normally is. I am glad that I checked the website because I was alloting 500 calories.

Now I am off to do a 3 mile in home walking workout. This will be my third workout of the day.

Hi everyone, I am a new member who has just been added to the RED team.

My name is Krista and I am 39. My DH and I have 3 kids, DD13, DD8 and DS6. My weight problem began after I had my first DD, who is now 13.

I was doing pretty well this summer, losing around 20 lbs. We then went on the EB Repo cruise and I gained 6 lbs back. So, I have 29 lbs to go until my goal weight. I am not following any specific plan, just concentrating on portion control and exercising. I walk a minimum of 30 minutes per day, but usually try for an hour. We have a WiiFit, treadmill and recumbent exercise bike so I have those options if I don't walk.

I have a weakness for Chipotle burrito's and chocolate.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all my fellow losers!! :) Thanks to Christa and CharityLynn for leading us!

Sorry to post so late!! My name is Rhonda and I live in a little itty bitty town in central Illinois. About 4 hours south of Chicago. I am 37 years old and have 3 children. DD-10 and DS-6 and DD-4. I would like to lose about forty pounds. I joined WW after DD was born and lost 75 pounds. Over the last year, I have managed to slowly but surely gain back those 40 pounds. I am so disgusted with myself because I knew what to do--I just didn't do it. A friend of mine got me started on the DIS boards and she talked me into signing up. We are not on the same team though, that is ok....we are both so competitve that that is how we made it through college. I teach 7th grade Reading, English and Social Studies and I have been trying to walk every day during my free period. We have started a BL at school and our weigh in there is Mon. So I am excited to be weighing on Fri and Mon because that will help to keep me accountable through the weekend. You all inspired me today to pass up the yummy Friday cake in the teacher's lounge this morning and pass on the breadsticks when we ate out for dinner!

Help! How do I get my clippie to show up? I thought I followed the directions.:lmao:

Krista! It was an amazing trip! I wonder if we crossed paths :) We participated in the FE but not a lot else.

Way to go passing up the cake and breadsticks! That is the way to get it going! I need to go work out! You all are inspiring me to get off my duff!

I got the Biggest Loser DVD about two months ago. It's the very first one. I like it. I just need to do it more often. LOL
