BL Challange - Red Team - Week 1

Hi Vicki !

I think we are on the same cruise! I'm sure I saw your name on our cruise thread.

Lill

Hi Lill---

Yes - you are right we are on the same cruise. I did see your name on our cruise thread. I thought your Dis name looked familiar :) . I can't believe our cruise is less than 3 months away now. I am getting excited!!!! :cool1:

Vicki

Hi Red Team
My name is Evette, I'm almost 52 (next month) and I live in Wheeling, IL.
I have a lot of weight to get rid of...I've lost weight and gained it back several times but never got near my goal weight. I'm hoping this will be the motivation I need to succeed this time!

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you on the RED TEAM and I know we can support each other through our journey.

Hi Evette!

Here's to getting closer to goal! :cool1: For all of us.

My brother is pretty close to Anaheim. Were you in DL all the time when you lived there? APs? I should go back and read your post. Maybe you said. ;)

Good Luck Losers!

You can do it!
:cheer2:

Thanks Tiger Lily.

Not the oldest. The most wise. ;)

Where in NY state, Michelle?

I live in a small town just West of Syracuse.

Well, I shouldn't have been so lazy and went back to your avatar. :lmao: ;) I'm always travelling through - on to Vermont.

Wow, this team is hopping! I'd better jump in here and introduce myself!!:goodvibes
My name is Tracy, I'm 35 years old (for another few weeks), and I live in Vermont with DH, Steve, and my 2 daughters, Ashley(17) and Emmalyn(6). I work for the federal government, and spend all day long sitting at a desk.

GO TEAM RED!!!:cheer2:

And speaking of Vermont. What part of the state Tracy? I love crossing Lake Champlain over to Burlington. I cross up at Newport going back to Lennoxville, Quebec - where I went to university.

Hi LisaViolet--

Nice to meet you too. I see you are from Toronto. My husband and I were there visiting before kids and really liked the city. I am looking forward to hopefully losing some of my baby weight here... It sounds like you had some success on the last BL. That is great....hopefully I will be as lucky !!:goodvibes. Well here's hoping for lots of "losers" for the RED team. :thumbsup2

Vicki

Hey Vicki,

The accountability really helped me with the Jan-April BL. Also, I'm a tad competitive. :lmao: ;) Doesn't hurt. ;)

This time I signed up for more than the weight loss. I have issues with making "mistakes" or "failures" - which most of the time is just my silly perception. I need to post gains and be okay. Because all of us will have gains at some point on our weight loss journey. And in the past I just wanted to run and hide. No more. I can't expect to go through life like that.

Hi LisaViolet

Yes, we went to DL a lot and we did have AP's. My DD Kellie really misses it, it's one of her favorite things. The first question she asks anyone new she meets is "Have you been to Disneyland?" and her second question is "What's your favorite ride?" She is a walking advertisement for Disney!

that's where i'm going first!! i leave for Vegas next Tuesday and return late Saturday night. vegas trips always put poundage on for me! i guess craps is not an aerobic activity :confused3
No unforunately, and to the disappointment of many, craps is not an aerobic activity. LOL
Vegas can really put on the pounds if you aren't careful. We have just about anything and everything here you could want to eat and/or drink. But I'm sure you'll do just fine! ;)

Same goal for me Beth. My brother is in Rancho Cucamonga (makes me laugh every single time I type it! :lmao: )and has lived in Ontario (:lmao: both in Canada and California). Did you grow up near there?

Congratulations on your weight loss. :thumbsup2
Thanks! I actually grew up closer to Los Angeles, then moved to Glendale, and finally to Burbank. We lived in Northern Michigan from 2005-07 because I have family up there and after I'd had it with the snow, we moved here to Vegas.

I'm happy to be back close to CA again, and especially close to Disneyland again. :goodvibes

I'm so thrilled to see so many more Red Team members and learn all about you!! This is going to be GREAT!!!
:yay:

Wow, I thought I would wait til the kiddos were down for nap to post and we are already 3 pages in! I guess I better jump on in, huh?

My name is Laura, I'm 33 years old, married for 13 years with three little boys ages 8, 6, and 3. I run an in home childcare/preschool, and I also bake and decorate cakes part time (average 1-2 per week).

I've always thought of myself as overweight, mostly because I am tall (5'9") and large boned. But now I look back at those pictures of myself in high school and college and realize that I really wasn't! Wish I had known it then.

Now I am waayy beyond overweight, and have a huge battle ahead - well over 100 pounds to lose. I look back at where I was at this time last year and realize that, although I have had many ups and downs, at one point getting almost back up to my starting weight, I am actually down almost 25 pounds. So I am trying to tell myself that is a good thing, instead of saying to my self "but I could have done so much better!" I think sometimes I am my own worst enemy. I really need to work on the negative self talk.

I am not following any specific plan, because I love food and just can't deprive myself of anything. However I do try to log everything I eat into FitDay and keep track of my calories.
I had started adding in exercise, going to Curves a few nights per week and walking in the morning. But I currently am dealing with a broken wrist (scaphoid, which is taking forever to heal) and a broken bone in my foot (3rd time in the last 2 years), so things aren't really getting anywhere right now with the exercising.

I'm glad to see several people here that I "know" from past BL challenges and around the boards elsewhere.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Out of 36 people on the Red Team we have had 22 check in already and its only 4:30 (Eastern time)! Here is a funny picture I ran across and I know we all feel this way at some point.

hey team just trying to keep up with all the intro's before the weekend hits in full swing.

i'm excited to hear there are fellow DCL-lovers on my team!! i'm excited for you guys cruising in 3 mos!! which itinerary?

i'm actually fortunate in that this is my 2nd trip to vegas this year. first one was bi-annual girls trip and then my BFF got free rooms so we are going back with DH's this time. i must and i mean MUST go to Mesa Grill each and every time i go to vegas. :rolleyes1 beyond that it will be splurging on breakfast sweets and drinks at the table that will do me in. We are taking our walking shoes this time in hopes of getting a couple hour walks in the mornings. we are both doing a 1/2 marathon in 7 days upon returining home. thankfully I completed my last LW (long walk) today and am tapering from this point out

i'm so happy to meet new teammates and also :woohoo: to see smiling familiar faces!!

pre-challenge -- off to read that and see what i can be working on....

How did you exercise today? What did you eat?

As far as exercise for me I used my hand weights for a little while (will pick them up again this evening) and I spent 25 minutes on my elliptical.

For breakfast I had a bowl of Special K Vanilla and Almonds with skim milk
Lunch was a small chef salad (4oz) with honey mustard dressing (love that stuff)

Snack: I had 2 100 calorie packs (Golden cake with creamy filling, like mini Hostess Cupcakes)

For dinner we are having baked chicken, with a baked potato and corn on the cob.

I had a bacon and egg sandwich on a roll for breakfast with a lemonade.
1 kudos granola bars for a morning snack ( i take a late lunch)
leftover porkchop, mashed potatoes and greenbeans in garlic olive oil.
1 entenmens multi grain bar.
I'm not sure I am going to eat dinner tongith ( side effect of a late lunch).

no exercise unless running to catch the train counts. :lmao:

PS don't forget those drinks when you caount your calories!

Hi Red Team. My name is Ann Marie and I am 39 for a few more months. I live in Marysville, MI and work casual as an ER nurse. I have two girls that are 9 and 11. I also homeschool my girls and they are both level 6 gymnasts. Keeps us very busy.

I have about 70 lbs to loose. I am going to watch what I eat and work out more. My other biggest problem is that I am addicted to Diet Coke. I am sitting here gaging down water. I'll have to go to the store and pick up a few lemons to help. We have a membership to the YMCA and I really need to start going again.

Count me in as a DVC and DCL lover. No cruises planned but we are going to Disney in Dec. I can't wait.

Off to check out the challenge and to send my weight.

CharityLynn,

I just wanted to let you know that I love this picture!!!!!

Vicki

I had a bowl of granola with blueberries and 2 blueberry muffins and oj for breakfast.

For lunch I had a very small slice of pizza and water.

For a snack I had another blueberry muffin. Can't tell I like blueberries can you--

Now I am hungry and am trying to think of something healthy to eat. Maybe some cottage cheese and carrots.

I also walked for a half hour this morning after I dropped off my daughter at preschool. I am hoping to start walking an hour a day--if I can find time in my schedule with 4 kids and also find the motivation to go that long :)

Vicki

Hi Ohmom,

We are on the 4 night Disney Wonder Mouse Fest cruise that sails on Dec. 7th. I can't wait for this cruise. Do you have any cruises planned? We also have a 7 night Eastern St. Croix cruise planned for Dec. 2009. :cool1:

Vicki

My eating has not been great today but I am doubling up on exercise to day to make up for it.

Breakfast was a non-fat chai & low-fat coffe cake from Starbucks, which apparently has gone UP in calories from the last time I checked.

Lunch was left over Peperoni Pizza w/ light cheese.

Dinner is going to be tough and I hate to say it but it will likely be Taco Bell. My DD has Pep Band tonight and has to be there by 6pm and I am sure, knowing my DD she will have to have Starbucks before hand. I will likely skip it this evening.

If all goes well my calories will still be within range, altough the high-end but the exercise should balance it out.

Exercise today I did 50 mins (3 miles) of a new in home walking DVD I got from Netflix. I will do another 45 min (3 miles) in home walking this evening, after dropping DD off for Pep Band. And maybe even 30 mins on the treadmill this afternoon while watching Days of our Lives.

vicki -- i'm envious! no cruises planned now, but i keep reminding DH i want to sail on the new DCL ships (assuming they are still building them?) as when they announced new ships the goal date was 2012, so that's what i want for my 40th birthday!

i was recently surprised by my wonderful husband that his company's outsource company is holding a convention at the GF in October and I get to go along! so that was a total shock and i'm excited! beyond that we have a family WDW trip for summer '09 planned.

i am so blessed.....

ok, i think i may have already posted but i powerwalked 8 miles on the TM this morning. so i get to eat a little more than usual today
B: cereal with skim milk; turkey sausage links (not a good pre-workout food!)
L: pb&j sammich, plum, sunchips
snack: more cereal (just couldnt' get enough today)
D: turkey BLT on wheat, corn on the cob
snack: rice krispie treats and maybe a glass of wine later

this is a not my best day to post but LW days are hard for me! i will post my food for tomorrow too!

Hey I'm a homeschooling gymnastics mom too. But I am in California. My girls are 10 and a level 4 (first season), and 7 (8 in October) and a level 4 but wont be competing till next spring (she;s not quite ready)

Hey Vickey I have PCOS too. Did they say you were pre-diabetic because of it? They told me that I am on the borderline and gave me metformin. The doctor also told me that the medication will help me lose some weight (not alot but hey any little bit counts).

Speaking of any little bit i read that forcing yourself to sit up straight burns a few extra calories. Couldn't hurt to try it?

I am pre-diabetic and insulin resistant, but my doctor didn't want to put me on any medication for it yet... he sent me for a nutrition consult and he's holding out faith that I can get it under control on my own again... I'm not so confident some days!

I totally agree that every little bit counts, though... I remembered what you said and sat straighter through the meetings I had this afternoon-- we'll see if it helps! :goodvibes

My food for today:
Breakfast: cheeseburger quiche
Lunch: chicken salad
Dinner: no clue (will be eating out after prayer)

Water: 32 ounces so far
Exercise: none yet. our power went out just as I was starting & elliptical won't work without it....LOL! Now getting ready to take girls to gymnastics so today may be my day off of exercise (usually weekend are my optional off days).

We just got an email and have recieved a few more red team members!

disneyluv, IngridRalph, lynnielou, neonurse

Can't wait to learn more about these 4!

:yay: GO RED TEAM:yay:
