Dh and I were hugely disappointed with our meal last November at Bistro.
We arrived for our 8:30 p.m. reservation (we thought going late would help with the children problem). We also decided to go on a night that was not late-night at Epcot, thinking that would help with crowds and noise. The room was jam-packed, noisier than Chef Mickey's, with kids shouting and waiters running top speed. Now that they let kids order off the kids' menu from downstairs, the place is a zoo. Everyone seemed to be waiting for the fireworks, which of course cannot be seen very well from the restaurant anyway. There are much better places to see them.
Dh and I considered leaving, but we really wanted to enjoy a bottle of our favorite Joseph Colombo Cote du Rhone, which is available at Bistro and no where else on property. We decided to give it until 9 pm to order to see if things quieted down. Well, I can assure you things did not even begin to quiet down until after 10 pm. The room is fairly small, there were kids at nearly every table and the noise bounced off the walls something fierce.
Also, the waiters, while pleasant, rushed us through the meal. It was clear the kitchen was hard-pressed to deliver on the ordered food. Dh had the scallops, which were fishy-tasting and way too old to be served. I had the filet, which must have been the last and worst one in the fridge because it came smothered with brown gravy, obscuring its poor condition.
We've dined at Bistro in the past and have enjoyed it. However, we now find it totally overpriced for the food and worse than Chef Mickey's for ambience.
We will not be going back, even to enjoy our favorite wine.
