Although I've planned on doing this for our past two trips, this is my first dining report. I'm an avid Disney food porn follower, so I decided to try it myself this time :). I remembered, with the help of DH to take pictures of our food most of the time.

First, an introduction. This trip was just DH and I.....we left two rather upset little girls at home with Nana. We also joined up with my best friend, Girldreamer02 and her hubby for most of the trip, but I usually didn't take pictures of their food.

This is us............

This was our first DVC trip, and we stayed at our home resort, Bay Lake Towers for most of our trip, but we spent our first night at the Boardwalk, and we were not of the dining plan for that night. The rest of the trip we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan. I'm a pretty serious planner, and we followed the ADRs I had made for most of the trip, but we did make a few changes.

After a minor pat down at the airport in KC (apparently if you wear a dress to fly you're concealing weapons), and a pretty smooth flight, we arrived in Orlando right on time. However, all of the gates were full, so we ended up spending 20 minutes sitting on the runway before we could get off the plane. We had gotten a towncar to take us to the resort, and the driver actually called to make sure we were still coming since he was waiting for us at the baggage claim.

We finally made it to baggage claim, got all our bags, and made a quick grocery stop on the way to the Boardwalk. We didn't get anything too exciting, but we did get some donuts because we didn't have too many breakfasts scheduled, and a case of bottled water. The bottled water really ended up saving us money because we froze a couple bottles each night and took them with us to the parks. We bought a case of 24 bottles for about $3 and it saved us from having to use snack credits on them.

It was about 5:00 by the time we got checked in and dropped stuff off in our room at the Boardwalk. DH suggested that we head for Downtown Disney as we didn't have park tickets for this day. The Marketplace bus stop was closed the entire time we were in Disney, so the Bus dropped us off on the West Side, right by Planet Hollywood. It looked pretty quiet, so we decided to see if we could do a walk up, and we were able to get in with no problem.

I had honestly forgotten how loud it is in here! We've eaten here before, and I knew exactly what I wanted to order.....the LA lasagna. Definitely not the healthiest dish, but I think it's yummy. The portion is huge though, and I was only able to finish about half. DH had a harder time deciding what he wanted. After a lot of debate, he decided on the Philly steak and cheese sandwich. He was definitely happy with his choice. He also really loved the french fries it came with, and so did I (I stole a few).

The one thing I will say about Planet Hollywood is that they definitely move people through. We were in and out of here in around 30 minutes, but we didn't mind because that way we still have plenty of time to wander the shops :goodvibes.

:wave2: I know, we're awful ;). Our younger daughter didn't really care to much, but the older one was pretty irritated with us. I just told her that we needed some mommy and daddy time. Honestly though, there were a lot of times when I found myself thinking about how much more fun it would have been if they'd been with us. Next time!

I'm in! I've flown out of KC many times myself before I moved and had my one search there. :)

Can't wait to read the rest of your reviews.

Wow!! You have managed my dream... An adult only trip to Disney... Going to keep tabs on this one...

Great start.

I also wanted to say I am a single mom and decided to go by myself last March. My kids are older, 2 in college (and they are at different colleges with different schedules) and 1 in high school. The kids couldn't miss that much school, so I went alone. Thankfully they were pretty good at supporting my trip, but I know they wanted to go. I had such a blast, but I did miss them at times. We are trying to figure out a time when we can all go again together. :goodvibes

Looking forward to your reviews and your pictures. :thumbsup2

You're off to a great start and I can't wait to read more! I love your pictures! Where did you find Jafar?! I can't remember ever seeing him outside of a parade?

Thanks for taking the time to do a DR!

Ok, I know it's been forever, but I haven't forgotten. Life has just gotten really crazy. I substitute teach, and, for some reason, I have been extremely busy, and it doesn't look like it's going to be letting up any time soon.

However, on we go!

The next morning, we were ready to head to Bay Lake and check in to our first official DVC stay. Plus, I was really looking forward to meeting up with my bestie who I hadn't seen in over a year.

We decided to grab some breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery first, and I'm not sure that was the wisest decision. All I have to say is if you're going to eat outside, watch out for the birds!!! I had a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, and DH had a cheese danish.

I can't say that I was very impressed, but DH really liked his.

We sat on the boardwalk to eat, and while we were eating we were dive bombed repeatedly by the birds. It didn't make for a very pleasant experience.

He was in the Art of Animation building at DHS. They have extra characters in there on non Fantasmic nights. We actually saw Mary Poppins along with two penguins there last time. This trip we also saw Captain Smee.

Joining in! We are staying at BW in Dec and also doing DxDP. I counted at least 8 places on your list we are pretty sure we are going to eat at. popcorn::

OK, I had this whole post typed and when I tried to submit it I lost it all, so I’m going to give this another try.

After breakfast we hopped on a bus to the Magic Kingdom and walked over to Bay Lake to get checked in. We checked in (our room wasn’t ready) and got our tickets/dining plan set up. Then we headed back to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with our friends who we hadn’t seen in over a year. I was so excited! We met up with them in front of Town Hall and were able to see Mickey and Minnie fairly quickly.

Finally it was time for lunch….after not eating much breakfast thanks to my birdie friends, I was getting pretty hungry. We had ADRs at Liberty Tree Tavern, and, admittedly, I was a little worried. We had lunch here our last trip and it wasn’t exactly a wonderful experience. The waiter brought me the wrong entrée, and by the time he came back to check on us so that I could tell him, everyone else was done eating. However, I really wanted to try the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, so we decided to give it another shot.

For our appetizers, both DH and I had the Tavern Fried Cheese. I love the little ones, and DH likes the sticks, so we usually just end up trading until we’ve both got what we like. These are quite yummy, but DH still prefers the cheesesticks at one of the local restaurants we have at home.

Next up were the main dishes. DH played it a little boring, and got the Angus Cheeseburger with bacon. He said it was good as burgers go, but he thought the fries at Planet Hollywood were much better. He prefers thinner, crispy fries to the the thicker ones they have here.

I had the Pilgrim’s Feast. It was yummy, and I loved it! The turkey was real turkey, and the mashed potatoes were yummy. The green beans were also pretty good, but I wasn’t thrilled with the dressing. If you like it out of a box, you’ll be fine though.

Next up, the best part of the meal……….dessert!! I knew exactly what I was going to have, and it didn’t disappoint. It definitely lives up to all the hype here on the DISboards. Even though I was pretty full at this point, I still managed to eat quite a bit of it.
DisneyJan2012014.jpg

I also got a special birthday cupcake.

DH got the fruit cobbler for dessert. He said it was just ok. I’m pretty sure it was strawberry and he was really hoping for cherry.

We're pretty much right in the middle of Kansas City and Denver, but I have family in KC, so we almost always fly out of there. If you've driven between the two, you've probably driven right past where we live (on I-70), but if you blinked, you missed us ;).

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!
Its coming, I promise, it's just taking me a while.

subscribing - an adult trip wow!!!
It's probably our last one for a while, but it was nice.

Can't wait to read the reviews!!!:goodvibes
Thanks!

We did have a good time, but honestly, I spent a lot of time thinking that I wished they were with me, especially when we met Phineas and Ferb, DD #2's favorites!

We really liked the BW, but it sometimes felt that the buses took an awful long time to get places (partly because they share with the Yacht and Beach Club and the Swan). The resort itself is really pretty, but watch out for those birds :scared1:!
