I will be choosing the gift card. I see that I can purchase merchandise, but what tours and other special things can be purchased?
Thanks,

Here's a link to the conditions for the cards:
Birthday Fun Card

It lists some exclusions such as spa services, Sammy Duval Watersports and Richard Petty Driving Experiences.

I'm not sure about the tours such as Key to the Kingdom or EPCOT Segway touring. They could be considered to be "on-site services", which are included in the card use.

Do you need to use the card on your birthday only?? Not that it is too hard to spend that amount in one day.

No... you do not have to use it all at once. We got one for my nieces B-Day on 9/02/09. The CM at the will call window told us she could use it at any Disney merchandise store in any of the parks and any Disney owned store in DTD. She also said that it could be used at any Disney store in the U.S.

The gift card we received was for 68.00 the value of a one day child's ticket as the B-day girl was 5. Also in order to recieve the GC we had to show a valid multi-day pass for the parks.

Spending it was not a problem. They let us use the GC at the BBB towards her princess makeover.

Can someone clarify the birthday giftcard for me? I was told on the phone yesterday that the GC had to be picked up in person on your actual birthday. She said that was the only way I could get one.

What has everyone else's experience been? We have two birthdays we are celebrating at WDW, only one will take place while we are there. The other will be missed by a few days and we were told that we could not have the GF for that one. Also, we are AP holders.

What are the real facts here?

It must be on the actual birthday and proof of birthdate is required. AP holders are eligible for the Fun Card.

When we picked up the GC for my neice on 9/02 we also had to show I.D that it was really her B-Day. We had her passport and that was fine.

Do they check the pass then? My niece is going and they are leaving on her 5yo DS's birthday. They will have passes but are planning on using them on the day's before his birthday since that would be travel day.

Yes...they asked for the ticket that we were using for her and scanned it to make sure there were valid days left on it. We had used 2 of the 5 days when they ran it thru.

From Disney's FAQ about the What Will You Celebrate promotion:

Q: I purchased* a valid Passholder Pass or a Multi-Day Ticket that I will use for admission on my birthday in 2009. Is there anything else I could receive on my birthday?

A: Yes, you have several options which are available for you to select once you arrive at the Park with your confirmation message, your proper valid ID, and your Passholder Pass or Multi-Day Ticket that you will use for admission on your birthday. You can choose one of the following:

•Disney's Special Birthday FASTPASS® Cards+. Save time waiting in line and get immediate entrance to the FASTPASS® return lines of 6 select FASTPASS® attractions at the theme park you visit that day. No need to return later in the day to ride. Plus, when you select this option, you can also receive cards for up to 5 additional members of your party+.
•A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket* for you to use for certain purchases including select merchandise, recreation or tour experiences, or for Disney's PhotoPass® on-site services at participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort; or
•A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

IOW, if you have a multi-day pass that you will be using on the actual birthday for admission, you can choose from the above options. If you do not have an admission ticket for that day, you will be offered a 1-day pass for the birthday celebrant.

Does a day come off for that day when they run it through? I was wondering bcause we will have 10 day tickets and the Halloween Party is also on my daughter's birthday that day and I just wasn;t postive if we would go in the parks that day or wait until the Halloween Party when they allow you to enter at 4:00. I was thinking of just showing up at guest services at 4:00 but I guess we beter go in the morning and use a ticket for that day on top of the Halloween ticket price. We wil have days left on our muti day ticket and will be going to the parks the next cople days after that.
Thanks,
PammyPoppins

well it appears based on what others are reporting that if there aren't any days left on the ticket, you're going to be offered a one day ticket as your only option. And according to the rules, that ticket MUST be used that day.
SOOOOOOOOOO, if I were your niece, before heading off to GS at one of the parks, I would just add a day to the child's ticket at the front desk of your hotel. If they already have multi-day tickets, it only going to be a couple of dollars. That way when they scan the ticket, it will still show an unused day, and he would be able to get the Bday fun card. Even though the ticket will not get used it's basically like buying the Bday fun card (valued at $68 for a child per an earlier poster) for like $3 or $4 for the extra day. Not a bad return on your investment IMO. :goodvibes
Hope they have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

Great idea, I'll pass it along. It might not work since they are using some kind of armed services discount on the tickets but worth a try. They may just change their plans a little to do the parks that day at least for a little bit, the kids are 5yo & 2yo so they can't do full days easily anyway.
