Birthdate on postcards

I have read through the first few pages of this forum....and did not see this issue addressed.

For the mail in sweepstakes, are you mailing in with birthdates on a postcard? Is anyone concerned about the security of this? ie, Many folks use birthdates and kids' birthdates as passcodes for things like bank accounts, etc. I have mailed in a few "postcards" inside of envelopes. The official sweepstakes site says to send in either a piece of paper or a post card. Do they open envelopes? Has anyone won sending their entries sealed in envelopes instead of on a postcard? I know I'm being paranoid....but I'm also very curious.

I wouldn't worry about it. You should NOT be using birthdays for passwords and codes whatsoever on anything you want to remain secure anyway. It's such a huge giveaway, use something else. From watching shows like 24 and Law & Order, I know not to use birthdays or any other important dates, names, common phrases, favorite colors, teams, places, television shows, bands or movies. Use something completely random but rememberable, use a few different passwords for everything and not just one, and when you pick numbers- pick a random date that you'd remember but couldn't be linked to you as a significant date like the year Yankee Stadium opened....

I have been mailing in postcards and have been writing my birthday on them. I haven't had any problems so far but I never really thought of people hacking my information off of them

I sealed mine in an envelope. Name, address, and birth date is too much information to give out. Thieves can make a mess of your life in a hurry w/ that much info.
