:( Just wondering, anybody avoiding the aviary section at AK? I notice a LOT of people getting bird droppings on them while walking through there. We avoid it now, as my wife has had several shirts and hats bombarded by birds in this area.

Didn't have problems there. BUT we (dd and I) got nailed at MK going from Frontierland over to Haunted Mansion.

I was holding a soda. She was holding fries. Both got hit on the shirt AND the food was splattered.

GROSS!!!!!!!!!

Never avoided it, love it and have never had one dropping on me, and I spend literally hours in there. I have had, however, numerious near misses in the parks by the SeaGulls that fly around.

:D Don't get me wrong, we love the place and had spent a lot of time there because the birds are gorgeous. Unfortunatley, we had to weigh the damaged clothing againest watching the birds, and saving the clothing won out. :(

LOL, I hear that, I just wear stuff that can be washed and the bird "stuff" comes out easily.

:( Does it gross you out when an uncovered part of your body gets hit, in particular the hair, if your not wearing a hat.? Some of those globs are huge! They must feed those birds well! :p

Never had my hair hit, actually no part of me. Guess I have been lucky. :) Like I said I have had several near misses. Dee did get hit both on his shirt and sandwich at Sea World when some moron (and yes, I do mean moron) was feeding the birds in the open dining area outside the Free Beer Pavilion/Beer School/ food stand. He did get his sandwich replaced and was able to wash the "stuff" off his shirt.
I don't wear a hat, so, I am sure my time will come. That is what washrooms, soap and water are for, right? :)

:) Yea, your right. And that moron that fed the birds was indeed a moron. And that goes on a lot at WDW even with all the signs telling you not to feed them.:(

Yes, that is for sure.

One time at Tom Sawyers Island my Mom got dropped on. Let me say, this did not look like bird droppings, it was more like a horse had flown over her head and had let loose. It was disgusting! We knew we had no choice but to get a new shirt. An offduty castmember had seen what had happened and took my Mom over to the Pooh store and they gave her a new shirt for free!! I thought that was a great example of that Disney magic we always hear about!!

Funny you should mention that. We were waiting outside narcoosses when a bird did it's thing on my wifes shoulder. She was able to clean it off in the restroom, but a CM noticed her struggle, and offered her a free dessert after our meal. :p Another CM to the rescue! ;)

I had a Seagull poop on my head at the Fort Wilderness boat docks. I was not happy :o

I didn't ever get pooped on at WDW, but one of those darn seagulls literally flew INTO me whacking me in the head as we were exited the rafts to Tom Swayer's Island and were strolling down the lakeside walkway! My kids thought it was hysterical.

I haven't been pooped on at WDW but I used to work at a zoo and it's a big joke with my DH that if there are birds nearby don't stand too close to me - I have been pooped on more than my share by birds - let's just say I'm not real fond of birds to begin with and now.....I DO NOT like them. But I just seem to have bad luck - I had a sweat bee fly up my nose once and a squirrel attacked me another time so I guess I just attract crazy animals (just kidding...the animals weren't crazy - just crazy circumstances) Anyway back to WDW I did have a seagull attack me and yank a bite of turkey leg meat out of my hand walking through MK. I really would like to just beat all the people who feed them - that's why they are so agressive.

Yep, feeding them makes them very agressive. I saw a little child get knocked over by them at Epcot near the McDonald's food place and I was furious, not at the birds, but the people who think it is ok or cute to feed them. If you MUST feed them, make it away from food areas.

BTW, I LOVE birds and enjoy them, not their fault, but their nature, that makes them "do their thing" in the air.

Please don't be too angry at people who feed the birds. Some of us are just plain ignorant and don't realize the long term effects until we read threads like this. I used to be one who loved to feed the birds at WDW (using the 25 cent feeders there, but that's a different story of blame). I even had (what I thought was) an adorable picture of DD feeding the birds in MK when she was little. After reading these threads, I've vowed never to feed the birds there again, and I feel so guilty about all the times I sat feeding birds, not realizing what I was contributing to. So please don't get too mad-maybe they're just dumb. Hopefully, they'll learn!

Simba's mom - I was probably a little harsh when I said I wanted to "beat" people :D I'm really not a mean, agressive person at all. And I'm sure I have done stuff that could contribute to a problem and never knew it....just having worked at a zoo I guess I was more in tune with what causes the birds to act that way. And if they had feeders then you sure weren't doing anything wrong. And even more importantly now that you know the outcome you are not going to do it anymore....there are many people who just don't care (not everyone who feeds the birds...but the ones who read the "do not feed the birds" sign and then proceed to do it.

Oh....and just so you know how much I "hate" birds. I have a bird feeder in my front yard and absolutely LOVE the bird show. They are amazing creatures....I just have bad luck about getting pooped on:D

No, I am not mad at you, I am mad at the people who ignore the signs near any food area that tells you not to feed the birds. I love to feed the birds and squirrels AWAY from the food areas.
Dumb, no, I don't call anyone that.
