I have to ask... what did you think was going to happen when you started this thread? Did you think we would all say, "Oh, Freyja you know so wise. How should we react? Please tell us so we can be appropriate."
I will state again- I did not go out and celebrate- I woke up in the morning, watched some news.... got ready for work, came home, made dinner watched some more news... but if someone felt like celebrating that a mass murderer had been killed by order of

I think the problem stems from the fact that many people are thinking the OP is saying that being happy about OBL's death is wrong. She's not. She's saying that she didn't like the cheering in the streets.
In fact, in the op, she said she was happy he was dead and that the US killed him. You actually agree with her.

You know what? I really didn´t think that much about what kind of a response I would get. I was simply stating my mind like I often do on the Dis.
The response I´ve received hasn´t really surprised me. Many posters have been harsh but there have also been quite a few who have agreed with me, and even more who have sent me messages saying they feel the same. I find it interesting that there are people who are afraid of voicing that opinion here and send me private messages instead.

The problem is that the OP likened her disgust level of the celebrations yesterday to the ones she witnessed after 9/11. You can't come here, as a non-American, and tell a bunch of Americans that their choice to celebrate the justice served to OBL is as disgusting as those who cheered in the streets for the 9/11 attacks and NOT expect to get some backlash.
So, semantics is okay for you and not others?

I guess my response would be if you think it is wrong... teach that to your children... don't try to parent other adults. I see people every day who do things that I dont' agree with... I don't scold them like naughty kids... I teach my kids MY MORAL CODE and hope it sticks.
Nice deflection, how about just ask the question posed to you and not ask me something in comparison to other posters who have nothing to do with what I asked you? Maybe you just don't know how to answer![]()

Okay, so let's blow this popsicle stand and get Freya drunk on authentic Mai Tais!
I'm sorry... You didn't ask me a question. Maybe you just don't know who you're responding to?![]()
Backlash and down right nasty are two different things. In an adult world that is.
My apologies, you are not the poster I asked. That being said, I found your comment below a bit ironic, I mean what was the point of your quoting me and asking "so semantics are okay for you but not for others", if it wasn't to take a little nasty dig at some on this thread?
I have many problems, many of which stem from 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden so excuse me if I don't bow my head and say a prayer for his sorry butt. Nor will I feel disgust at people who were happy he is dead. I will not condemn others until I have walked a mile in their shoes.

I take it that doesn't go for bin Laden? Because I'm assuming you haven't walked a mile in his shoes (and I bet his shoes are stinky!) ...
