So why can you be insulting then????
I will handle your insulting me as the guidelines of the DIS state. I learned that on this thread.

So why can you be insulting then????

I think that she was referring to this quote:You accused me of hating all muslims! When I never even mentioned them once. I think most muslims prefer to distance themselves and their beliefs from Bin Laden.

You accused me of hating all muslims! When I never even mentioned them once. I think most muslims prefer to distance themselves and their beliefs from Bin Laden.
I think that she was referring to this quote:
"Well in my book when someone is disgusted by the actions of a group of people who belong to one larger group, she/he is stating disgust by those people individually and as a whole. The people the OP was referencing her disgust with are individual American citizens celebrating the actions of our country as a whole."
In other words if you comment on a group of Americans then it reflects on all Americans just as if you comment on a group of Muslims then it must reflect on all Muslims.
That's how I understood the comment at least and in no way reflects my opinion which I'll keep to myself.![]()
I've seen this posted numerous times in this thread, and just wondering if there really is anyone here that believes Bin Laden's life was indeed, precious?
Oops, I thought that you left or I wouldn't have posted. I'll bow out now.Do you really not see where I got that from your post?
Aren't you disgusted with the terrorists that attached us on 9/11? You know the Muslim terroristss? By using the logic from the bolded above that means that you should find all Muslims disgusting since they are a part of that larger group. Or is that not what you are saying?![]()

No I honestly have no idea where you got that from at all!
The OP stated she was disgusted by the celebrations, I never said I was disgusted by Muslims.

But you are disgusted by Osama and the 19 hijackers, correct?
Re-read what you wrote and see if you can figure out how I concluded that you hate Muslims

I'm giving up on this now since it isn't getting through.
Have a good day.![]()
Again you chose to use Muslims when I had not once written that word.

Ok, first of all I did not say that I thought any of it was disgusting or that I was appalled at anything. Please point out where I even remotely hinted at that?
Second, mermaid, ok so what about our citizens feeling the same way? That's part of our family, right?
Third, I also have NOT bashed anyone that has celebrated in that fashion.
This is why threads like these get out of control...people read into things that simply are NOT there. (See bolded.)

Did you not see the people outside the WH acting like they were at a kegger?
Chanting USA at a baseball game, waving the american flag, reciting the pledge of allegiance are completely different types of celebrations than the party-type atmosphere that I saw on TV.
We are not barbarians. What separates us from him is our humanity, respect for life and morals. By celebrating a death of anyone, to me, brings us a little closer down to his level.
I felt relief at his death. I felt patriotism and respect for those brave soliders who carried out the operation. I felt hope that there can be a better tomorrow. However, I did not feel joy at the loss of a human life. He may have deserved to be dragged through the streets and hung up from a flagpole, but giving him a respectful burial speaks volumes about the kind of people Americans are. To me, personally, celebrating the death of another human being tarnishes that a bit.
