YES!! If I could give out an award for best overall eater..YOU WIN!! You have inspired me to really work harder on getting more variety in there for my family! Wish we could do a week at your house!
Ooohh... an award? Is there a tiara involved???
I will admit I have always been a reasonably healthy eater. But over the past few years I have definitely progressed in the right direction. So many more veggies and greens, mostly organics and many servings every day. I eat veggies two meals a day, minimum, but often three (love spinach, tomato and/or onion with my eggs), plus snacks (yesterday's afternoon snack was grilled squash.... I had a craving!) WW makes it SO EASY to eat lots of veggies because they are all 0 points (except for starchy veggies like potatoes, peas, corn, parsnips), so no weighing or measuring or counting! I can toss together a salad willy-nilly!
I'll be the first to admit that we eat a LOT of broccoli here... but it is something we all like, it is pretty easy to find any time of year, and can be made in lots of different ways.
Love to have you for a week here, but I think we would make you nutty! Life has been insane this summer!

Yes!!! Had a good day today, finally!
I was pretty much OP the whole day. In looking back my only real slip up was the yogurt I had right before lunch. I was really hungry but if I had noticed the time, I would have waited the 30 minutes until my "lunch zone". I did go over my protein today though, I'm starting to get the calorie part down so now I need to work on balancing out my carbs, fat and protein.
Yeah on the good day!!
Another good thing. I was researching sports nutritionists at my local hospital and it turns out the sports nutritionist is my friend!! She had given me some guidelines for DS10 so he can gain weight, so I'm going to try to call my insurance co tomorrow and find out if they cover nutrition so I can see her
Ooh that would be good. I've always wanted to talk to a sports nutritionist regarding DD's swimming. Love to hear what you learn.
So tomorrow I'm aiming for another good day!
Congrats to all of your losers this week!!!
Great job!!!!
Here's to another good day!!
I got off to a great start on the challenge. Then, the 4th of July and my birthday came along. I managed not to gain any weight that week, but I did not lose any either. Then, last week my mother had an accident and had to have surgery (shattered her ankle, 20 bone fragments pieced together, a plate, and 9 screws). I am a stress eater so, by the time Friday came around, I was up 3.6 lbs. from the week before. Mom's recovery will be long (at least 4 months) and stressful and I am an emotional eater. I am trying to stay focused though and counter the eating by excercise. The problem I am running into is that I have 2 kids under 4 and I am taking care of my mom since she cannot get around well so, I obviously have little time for myself right now. Does anyone know of any excercises that burn max calories in small amounts of time (like 30 minutes)? Any suggestions would be great!!!!!
Oh my gracious. First of all, prayers for your Mom's recovery. Second, prayers for your stress level.
For max calorie burn I would probably suggest circuit training. It combines weights and cardio. I like it because it doesn't get boring because you keep changing from one thing to another. And it is pretty easy to do anywhere if you want to keep it simple.... jumping jacks, squats, bicep curls (using small hand weights or whatever you have on hand), push-ups, tricep dips (using a chair or bench), chest flies, stuff like that. You just progress quickly from one thing to another. I've written up a few of my own circuits that I could share or you could definitely Google a good one.
Finally, some tough love..... You need to get a hold of that stress eating. Is eating too much or the wrong thing going to help your Mom in ANY WAY? Is it going to help your kids in ANY WAY? Is it going to help YOU in any way?? I'm guess the answer to all of those questions is NO. You will just end up feeling more stressed (from the guilt of overeating) and out of control.
When you cannot control other things in your life (Mom's recovery, kids needing attention, etc), take heart in knowing that you DO have control over what you eat! And by GRABBING that control, you will feel SO MUCH BETTER! You will wake up knowing that you need to care for Mom, care for the kids, but that you CAN EASILY care for yourself.... by eating right!! And that burden of waking up with the weight on your conscious of what you ate yesterday will be gone!
I know from whence I speak. You will feel better about EVERYTHING that is going on right now if you get some control over your eating. And you will be in a better frame of mind to take care of EVERYONE in your life that needs you right now. And it will be a good way of taking care of YOURSELF!
Summer Thrills!!!
QOTD: What is it you look forward to doing or are already doing because you've gained confidence in your fitness...it can be silly, inspirational, challenging or all the above!
I can do anything I want without getting winded or overtired easily. I can keep up with my kids, lift things, carry things, and so on.
For me, it is riding the AquaDuck! I know it seems silly, but had I not lost the weight before this cruise in September I would have worried so much at those travelers who poke fun at the overweight, the pain in my knees making it up the steps would remind me of my condition and the flab on my arms would have kept me from having as much fun as I could...all horrible reasons not to enjoy the simple things...but that's how I felt. I still am not at my goal, but I will be able to run up those steps and be so proud of how far I have come...I will celebrate each zoom down the flume!

And reclaim the lighter side of life with a much healtheir heart (both physically and emotionally).
GOod for you!! And great question!!

Happy Tuesday friends! Yet another nutty day here. Started at 5 am with the alarm to get us out the door at 5:35 for 6:30 practice (yes, it is a 40+ minute drive). I did my walk/run while DD swam, ate my breakfast (that I had brought along) in the car, drove her to Driver's Ed immediately following swim practice, waited another 2 hours (as the DE is also 40+ minutes from the house, it isn't practical to go home), killing some time in Target and a local consignment store. Then home to make lunch for everyone and start checking email, etc. And now here it is, 1:30 pm, and I feel like I've accomplished nearly NOTHING. And DH's birthday is tomorrow and I still need to wrap his gift and plan the birthday dinner! The house is of course, in disarray, which makes me nutty, the car is a dung heap, and we are leaving for vacation on Sunday and there is absolutely NOTHING packed yet.... I haven't even made a LIST!
Really watching my calories and carbs this week in an effort to have a good weigh-in before leaving for vacation. No matter HOW HARD I try to be good on vacation, by about Wednesday or Thursday I have pretty much thrown in the towel and am double-fisting the Ghiradelli chocolate brownies that DSIL always makes.

I often come home from the week at the lake up anywhere from 3-6 pounds! Then it takes me a month or more to get back to where I was! I get right back OP but the weight just DOESN'T drop off like it used to when I was younger.
And this year will be a bit tougher, because we are actually leaving our lake vacation with my family a day early because DD has a big swim meet Saturday, then we will head STRAIGHT to the Cape for DMIL's birthday party on Sunday! We will be staying at the Cape a few days to visit with out-of-town family that we don't see too often. And then the Thursday of that week? Well, glad you asked. DH has SURGERY scheduled for that day!

If I can keep my weight gain to just 3 pounds or less for those two weeks I figure I'm doing good! And that's my goal. GOTTA keep up the exercise!
Okay.... I've got some beds to make and laundry to fold (does it EVER end??). TTYL..............P
