Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Nuremburg - how cool ! I lived in Stuttgart for 2 years and went to the Nuremburg Cmas Market one December. Wish we had gone back and done some other tours there. Very historical city. Sind sie Deutsche or are you American? You will love this group. Welcome and good luck! Looking forward to reading your posts!

Shawnprincess:

Great to meet someone who knows my home town! I am German and a Disney fan - so that brought me to a mainly American board... :goodvibes

It is amazing that I have actually met quite a few people here on the DIS who have been to Nuremberg - I even met a few DISers when they happened to travel here. It's always great fun to see my internet friends in person! :thumbsup2

Giraffe's love to eat leaves. Doctors say we should be eating 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. How many are you eating? What are your favorite fruits? What are your favorite vegetable? Do you cook any in a special way that you can tell us about?

9! I am lucky if I eat 1 in a day. I usually do, but there have been those days. :rolleyes1 I average 3 a day when I'm doing "better."

Healthy Habits: I have recorded the points for everyone's I have received and replied to you. If you did not receive a PM from me regarding HH, please PM me your points again. You have until Monday, 6/11 at 5 PM. Thanks! :)

My eating could have been so much better. I spoke with my nutritionist today and she had a few more suggestions. We are planning to meet in about a month for a full appt. She gave me another book to read and I'm hoping this one is as helpful as the last one. My big goal is to not beat myself up when I mess up.

Lots of homework to do for my statistics class so I better get going...

Shawn- Good to see you! My parents are visiting us now from NC! I'll let you know when I'm coming down again. Don't see it in the near future though.

Having a rough night. Got an email about a friend who lost her baby today. She was only 3 weeks away from delivering their little boy. She went to the doctor as he wasn't moving and found no heartbeat. She delivered him this morning and the cord was wrapped around his neck. I am just totally devastated for them. Her daughter is in Izzie's class and she has been a big help with Izzie this year. I was with her all yesterday afternoon at Carnival Day at school. She seemed good. I just can't stop crying tonight. I remember saying to Izzie yesterday that we would get to meet her friend's brother when we got back from Disney. I noticed a lot of cars at the house this morning and thought they must be having a party. She is coming home tonight or tomorrow and they will tell their two little girls. They were so excited for the baby. My heart is just breaking for them tonight. Please put Jen, Todd, Julia and Lena in your prayers! They are a real sweet family.

Otherwise it was a nice day. Brian's soccer team won 1-0 and they play their last game tomorrow morning. Ashleigh's play was a success and we found out that the next show in the fall would be The Phantom Tollbooth. We had a nice meal after the show at the cast party. Brian is going to help with the drama club website next year and I plan on helping to plan the cast party or be the photographer.

Gotta help Ash record a video for her book report now.

Thanks for letting me cry on your shoulder! I know how wonderful you all are and knew I could come here to share!

God Bless you all tonight and your families!

Hmm...where has that motivation gone? I'm sure I put it around here somewhere....:confused3

Ok not TOTALLY unmotivated, I went running again this morning! I woke up and I ate a nectarine and then I forced myself to go running. I did 3 miles, walk/run as usual but I ran more than usual. And, a fox came out of the woods and ran ahead of me for about half a mile! It was so cool! I don't usually run that way on the trail so it was nice to see some different things.

I also tracked my food today...up until dinner. But I had a healthy dinner (chicken and some sweet potatoes) so i'm feeling pretty good about all that.

Otherwise I lack motivation to do anything. My room is quite messy and i need to clean it but im just feeling very blah. It's how i've been feeling lately, just lacking motivation to do anything and then feeling bummed about it. I'm happy i got my run in though and got that out of the way because i know i wouldnt have the motivation to do it now and i would feel worse if i hadn't done it.

I'm also feeling kind of annoyed about some friendships right now. Basically certian friends have stopped making an effort to maintain friendships and it just makes me feel really sad/angry. Maybe its just that time of the month, causes me to be extra moody. I'm going to not dwell on it.

QOTD - I do not get enough fruits and veggies but i get a decent amount. I really truly love fruits and veggies, and I always start my day with some sort of fruit...usually strawberries, or a nectarine, or grapefruits. I also love rasberries. Not a big fan of blueberries, unless its in a pancake or waffle.

Veggies I love! Although, i have issues with salad because it never makes me feel full, and i can't eat it as a "meal" but i also don't feel i've truly found a good salad. my salads are plain and boring and just dont do anything for me. For veggies i love sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, turnips, califlower, mushrooms, and green beans. I eat baby carrots a lot but don't really like them, and i eat brocolli but im not a fan.

I'm going to go upstairs and get some water and see about just spending ten minutes doing some cleaning. I just got a new iphone so maybe i'll have siri set an alarm haha

I will also put in a load of laundry, and then i want to look into some stuff for boyfriend and i to do at the cape when we go in july. I've been vacationing at the cape for 26 years, but this will be my second trip with him and we didn't do much the first trip and he was bored, so i want to find some fun stuff to do. I know we are going to go biking cause we did that on castaway cay and it was fun so that's a decided, and provincetown because thats like a second home to me (my ancestors came from portugal to provincetown, we still own llots of land up there, my grandparents are buried there etc), but that still leaves probably a day to find something fun to do. And we are not beach people.

I will check in tomorrow, hope everone is having a nice weekend

Oh, I'm sorry, Tracey  I'll keep the family and you in my prayers.

BUZZ5985 -- I listened to that Jillian Michaels Podcast you suggested about PCOS. It was very informative. Just that much more confirmation that I have this problem and it needs to be diagnosed PRONTO!

Tracey -- I'm sorry to hear about your friend. The post broke my heart. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Well, I was up this morning and hand breakfast, We went to Publix and got groceries, came home ate lunch, swam a bit, and then lounged for awhile. We had dinner at Red Lobster and I'm getting ready to do a few Sparkpeople videos, take a bath, do some more reading of my Walt Disney biography I bought months ago, and then probably head to bed at a decent hour.

Nothing planned for tomorrow. Forecast shows rain all week. So we shall see...

Tracey, your friend and her family are in my thoughts tonight - what an incredibly sad and difficult thing to be going through. :( I'm sending them lots of wishes for comfort and strength.

QOTD: I absolutely LOVE fruit. This time of year, our family will easily go through 10+ pounds of berries/week. On cereal, alone sprinkled with Truvia, you name it. I'm not as crazy about veggies, but I get them in! I think with the fruits in season now, I'm probably close to those 9 servings on most days.

Busy, busy day. DH and DDs took our older cat to the vet today - she's started peeing where she shouldn't (augh!), and we wanted to rule out a bladder infection. Then off to haircuts for both DDs and over to see Madagascar 3 (very cute and fun!). Then errands...then dinner and the annual meeting at our church. Hung out with a bunch of friends there, drinking wine until they booted us to close the building. :) Home late, DDs down to bed close to 9:30 (!), and we'll be up again early tomorrow. But I did get my C25K in this morning! Next one tomorrow night...

Watching the Celtics, then *sleep.*

XOXO
Liz

Tracey- I just wanted to let you know that you and your friend are in our families thoughts and prayers.

Tracey prayers being said for the family. Don't forget her DS's birthday, many people will not want to talk about it, and she might not want to either but a card would be good for her to receive.

Shawn soooo happy to see you!!! I'm glad you are here!

****************

I had a horrible food day, Way way way over calories and I am paying the price with being draggy, lethargic, moody, bloated etc.
100% back on plan tomorrow. But one upside today, what I ate today was the way I ate almost every day. It was very eye opening to see exactly what I consumed calorie wise almost daily. No wonder I was pushing 200 pounds.

Hopefully I can reverse todays damage before the next weigh in. I dropped 2 pounds this week, I'm hoping for at least 1 on Friday.

sorry I didn't get a Quote up today. I will try for tomorrow. Today I was up to my eyeballs in Bowling banquet decorations. Between cutting the layers, adhering everything and building the decor, I was at it almost all day. I just finished a little bit ago.
Hopefully the kids won't touch them to much because I'd like to save them for next year.

I will post pics later, maybe I'll take my camera with me to the school when we go to decorate.

I'm headed to bed in 10, I'll talk to y'all tomorrow.

Good SUnday morning everyone.

I have a very busy morning. I have to read at 7:30 mass and then there is a special mass at 9 to get reinstalled as Special Ministers so I also have to go to that. usually I eat after 7:30 but I won't have time so I have to eat early this morning.

Question of the Day

All these guys say MINE MINE MINE. We as women and mothers here this all the time from other people and we are always pleasing other people.

What do you do for your MINE time?

Have a happy and healthy day.

If you are wondering. I took all these pictures that you are seeing this week. The giraffes were outside our window in the AKL where we had one night given to us for our 30th anniversary from my sister.

BUBBLES BUBBLES BUBBLES

I love a hot bubble bath to relax me and just take time alone in a quiet space. Even when on vacation I do my best to find time for a relaxing soak.

mine time would have to be when I am on computer. It can get interupted, but I usually make it back at some point. Most of the time I am with my lil princess, which I don't mind even slightly. I waited 40 years to get her and I plan on enjoying her as long as possible.

If I get time to myself I will spend it relaxing with a book or on the computer or watching a TV show or movie that the guys don't like. Yesterday they went wHite water rafting and I watched Dirty Dancing.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Tracy, so sorry to hear about your friend. Enjoy your parents visit. Have a great day all!:goodvibes

QOTD:
"Mine" time has been changing lately with this challenge. It used to be early in the AM sitting and watching a show or two on hulu, but now I get up and either run on the treadmill or do an exercise video. I'm also getting some "mine" time in with Zumba classes now. :cool1:

Hello friends!:goodvibes I wanted to let you all know that I am here with you for the Summer Challenge!

Shawn! Shawn! Shawn! :yay: :yay: :yay: It is so nice to see you! :flower3:

Is school out in your neck of the woods yet? We have 3 days of finals to get through and then we are done for the summer. :cool2:

It will be so nice to chat with you more again! :goodvibes

The QOTD about making a plan B came in to play for me yesterday.

Woo hoo for plan B! :woohoo:

Kayla, hope your foot is okay! :flower3:

Healthy Habits: I have recorded the points for everyone's I have received and replied to you. If you did not receive a PM from me regarding HH, please PM me your points again. You have until Monday, 6/11 at 5 PM. Thanks! :)

Maybe it is your body telling you to get some rest? :hippie: I'm sure it will turn up sooner or later.

Liz, hope that your kitty is okay. :cat: It's tough on the humans as the pets get older.

Buffy, as you say, that is the nice thing about the wagon, it rolls around every day to pick you right back up! :goodvibes

My "MINE" time is at the computer in the morning when I catch up with all of you. :cool2:

Oh yeah! ::yes:: Nothing clears out the room at my house like a chick flick! :rotfl2:

Have a great day all! :goodvibes

Thanks Lisa!

QOTD: Besides work and school I don't have a whole lot of obligations or anything that takes away most of my time (the life of a teen...) so I pretty much do whatever I want. Favorite tv shows, photography, reading, running, cleaning (yes, I just said cleaning), computer. I tend to do things that make me feel productive, so even if I'm watching tv I'll be doing something else at the same time. All day is mine time. ;)

My foot is better today, but man did it hurt last night. It's so small but so deceiving, like a paper cut. I went running last night and it hurt but luckily after awhile the pain went numb. However it hurt to walk afterwards.

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday QOTD: For "mine" time I like to read before bed and I also watch General Hospital! My family knows that if GH is on tv they better sit and watch with me, or leave me alone. :lmao: Oh another fun "mine" time is obsessing over Disney. My kids will talk about it with me, but they laugh as I read trip reports and whatever. I don't care, I love it!

One thing I love is when any of my family joins me in exercising. At first I was going to say exercising was "mine" time because I do it for ME. But I enjoy it so much more when they join me. Not like I can outdo my kids so they certainly push me and we have so much fun.

Good afternoon everyone,

Thanks for the prayers for my friend and her family. She is home from the hospital and she sent out an email to everyone about her little boy! It just breaks my heart for them!

Today started off with a trip to the ER for Izzie. Her ear started bleeding this morning around 7:30. We think it was infected as the swelling had increased again. The dr drained more from it and we have to try and make an appointment with the plastic surgeon or an assistant in the next 2 days. I know he's in surgery tomorrow and in Boston on Tuesday so this could be a challenge especially since I'm supposed to work all day on Tuesday. It never ends. I talked to my co-worker who is going to tell the boss for me to prepare her in case I can't be there. My family comes first and we can reschedule the massages for another day. We were back home by 11:30. It hurt a lot despite the medication they gave her. Lots of screaming and crying. They finally gave her motrin which kicked in about 15 minutes later. She has her ear wrapped in gauze.

DD12 and DH lost their last soccer game of the season but they played with a lot of heart. Taking Ash to dog sit in a few minutes. The craziness never ends around here.

No exercise here again today but I haven't eaten much either. Got a lot going on this week. Will post when I can!

TTFN :tigger:

SHAWN -- Welcome back to the challenge!! :cool1:

KAYLA -- OUCH! I hope your foot is feeling better

CC -- I feel your pain right now. I had to take statistics for my Bachelor's degree and OMG I have no clue how I managed to pass that class, :lmao:

TRINAWEENA -- I understand the blah feeling and re-evaluating friendships. I've had to deal with both. Sometimes we wished people would just show a little more effort toward relationships and it just doesn't work out. I hope your mood brightens soon and your able to have some peace.

BAMB -- Don't beat yoursefl up over the food choices. Sometimes its inevitable with how crazy life can get at times. I went over my calorie count by like 15 yesterday but eh it is what it is. I enjoyed an awesome meal at Red Lobster for dinner.

All these guys say MINE MINE MINE. We as women and mothers here this all the time from other people and we are always pleasing other people.

What do you do for your MINE time?

My me time usually consists of whatever I'm doing for a workout. On occasion I may take a bubble bath at the end of the night or read a book before going to bed. We don't have children so I pretty much do whatever whenever I want. However, sometimes its just nice to deliberately stop what I'm doing in the middle of the day and do something for me. :)

but im just feeling very blah. It's how i've been feeling lately, just lacking motivation to do anything and then feeling bummed about it.

TWINKIES!!! For the past two days I have been BLAHVILLE!! I only lost 1.6 pounds after walking 30 miles last week and sticking to under 1500 calories a day (under 1200 most)...I know I put some muscle on b/c my clothes are much looser but I want to see that scale move! Then it just hits me like a brick that I feel listless and lethargic...I still did my 6 miles yesterday and will probably manage it again today but getting a late start...sigh..had two pieces of bread (usually a low carber around here) and eating a salad now...then I'll get on....I feel like I need some B12 or something, maybe iron? Just feel sooo tired, I just want to lay down all day!

Here's to a better more energy filled week...and bigger losses on the scale!!

For QOTD...I honestly do the treadmill in my 'me' time..it's the one thing I do where no one bothers me or interrupts what I'm trying to do...so I def. call that 'me' time!
