First off, you all talk too much!

Miss a day and it takes hours to catch up!
I agree - and unfortunately I tend to miss a few days at a time! I'll be glad when it slows down at work and I can get on more often.
Good day today, just busy. DS11 got a positive diagnosis for Lyme Disease so I dropped the little kids off at school, took DS15 to school late (no exam 1st period so he didn't have to be there early), ran up to the DR got the scripts, ran back to Target dropped those off, got DS15 at noon, ran 3 miles at the green, got the little kids, back up to Target for the scripts and lunch at Panera, now I'm home.
I'm tired!!!
Rose I think he might have had it for a few years and just hasn't had symptoms or ones you can put off on something else. Right now it's just swollen knees. We thought it was growing pains but when they didn't go away I asked for an ortho referral. Dr decided we'll do the referral but just in case, let's test for Lyme.
Now DS15 had a high fever for 3 days and joint pain last week, saw the other DR in the office and he took the wait and see approach. So when my Dr got back in the office and did the test for DS11 I talked to them about testing DS15. He goes in for a blood draw Monday. DS11 has to take an antibiotic for 30 days, them hopefully he will be ok.
Wow, that is scary. Hope he responds well and the course of antibiotics takes care of it. We had a bad problem with Lyme disease in my county. After our walk in the woods last week, I saw a tick on DS shirt and we killed that, but then found one on my butt a few days later! It wasn't there the day we went for a walk, and not for a couple days thereafter, and oddly enough did not feel it when I took my showers, although it might have been smaller then. We think it was on me or DS, fell into the couch and then a couple days later made it's way on me while I was sitting on the couch. Have him in a baggie in the freezer, will call out local health dept to find out what to do, and see if Lyme is still as rampant. If I have to take antibiotics, probably the sooner the better. But not sure what they will want me to do, since it doesn't show up in the blood tests for awhile. I will have to see if there is any repellent to take care of ticks, I really like walking there.
Well I am sitting in my ER awaiting heart echo results on my 13 yr old DS who passed out today

All the other tests are fine but they want a pediatric cardiologist to look at the echo and she can't until after 6....so we wait! Have been here for 5+ hrs already and she is going nuts!! Have plugged her in to all the electronics I can

and she is still driving my crazy!
Hoping your DS is OK, that would be scary. Better safe than sorry, figure out exactly what it was.
DD won a GREAT award last night!! DISTINCTION in AP Chemistry! SUPER, DUPER proud of her! She was afraid it was "just" going to be a gym award (although I told her I'd be proud of that as well). And despite getting started late, the ceremony wasn't painfully long. It was supposed to start at 7:30 but didn't actually start until about 8:05 pm.... but we were out of there by 9:15 pm.
Congrats to your DD! That is awesome! Hope DS does as well this coming year. They don't do award ceremonies at the schools anymore, only for the seniors. He got some stuff, but it is handed out in class. Not sure why, you'd think they could streamline it so they could all be in it. I will be there for senior though, will be sure not to miss that one. His last award ceremony I missed, he forgot to tell me about it (he wasn't there either), and he received the award for being in the state finals for the NG Geography Bee. I would have loved for us to be there for that one.

My oldest son is a Chemistry Geek! He is going to Penn State for Chemical Engineering. If she just finished taking AP Chem, you might want her to take the SAT specialty test for Chem. This test along with my son's AP score got him out of his first two chemistry classes in college.
I am going to encourage DS to take the tests. I keep on telling him that it will save him time, he can get to the good stuff and skip the other classes if he passes the test. He never had chem until this year, and wanted to do AP next year. He is interested in engineering as well - he wants to be a rocket scientist

! Penn State is one I am encouraging him to look at, as well as some of our local ones. And he is going to apply to MIT, but he has a German grade that is dragging him down, but he doesn't want to give up on it.
27 years ago today DS and I said I do!! I can't believe that much time has gone by!!! (I know what your thinking - Yes I am about 3 inches taller)
Wow, 27 years! Congrats! DH and I were married 32 years ago this September. I love your dress! I know you said it looks dated, but it is pretty and that is what we were wearing back then. My dress was saved and packed away, waiting for the daughter that didn't come along - I'll let DS decided what to do with it after I'm gone.
Question of the Day Giraffe's love to eat leaves. Doctors say we should be eating 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. How many are you eating? What are your favorite fruits? What are your favorite vegetable? Do you cook any in a special way that you can tell us about?
I love fruits and veges, but (esp veggies) are a hassle to prepare when you are in a hurry. I have eight on my WW tracker which I usually fill up. I have blueberries in the morning with my oatmeal, banana for mid-morning, a few servings of carrots in the afternoon. A soup I like has two servings, and I always have one or two in the evening, along with maybe some berries, which is usually a couple of servings. I like roasted veges too, and some days have a huge salad for a meal with all sorts of salad veggies, with just a touch of dressing. It is so big it absolutely fills me up.
Have trouble with apples, since if I eat one I feel more hungry - very frustrating since it is such a healthy fruit. And I hate peeling oranges, even though I love the taste!
CAROL is who I was trying to think of in earlier post (OSUGRAD) - I am similar in age and family to LisaH, Janis and CAROL

Nuremburg - how cool ! I lived in Stuttgart for 2 years and went to the Nuremburg Cmas Market one December. Wish we had gone back and done some other tours there. Very historical city. Sind sie Deutsche or are you American? You will love this group. Welcome and good luck! Looking forward to reading your posts!
I think we discussed Germany a couple challenges ago! PS, I am ougrad - OSU in our nemisis

. A lot of people get that messed up, thinking Ohio State or Oklahoma State - I graduated from the University of Oklahoma - and am a rapid Oklahoma Sooners football fan!
Great to meet someone who knows my home town! I am German and a Disney fan - so that brought me to a mainly American board...

It is amazing that I have actually met quite a few people here on the DIS who have been to Nuremberg - I even met a few DISers when they happened to travel here. It's always great fun to see my internet friends in person!
I lived in Germany for a couple of years back in the 80's, my DH was stationed at a little place called Hessich-Oldendorf, about 30 klicks from Hanover. Loved our time there, would go back to live there in a heartbeat, although I imagine it has changed some.
Having a rough night. Got an email about a friend who lost her baby today. She was only 3 weeks away from delivering their little boy. She went to the doctor as he wasn't moving and found no heartbeat. She delivered him this morning and the cord was wrapped around his neck. I am just totally devastated for them. Her daughter is in Izzie's class and she has been a big help with Izzie this year. I was with her all yesterday afternoon at Carnival Day at school. She seemed good. I just can't stop crying tonight. I remember saying to Izzie yesterday that we would get to meet her friend's brother when we got back from Disney. I noticed a lot of cars at the house this morning and thought they must be having a party. She is coming home tonight or tomorrow and they will tell their two little girls. They were so excited for the baby. My heart is just breaking for them tonight. Please put Jen, Todd, Julia and Lena in your prayers! They are a real sweet family.
So sorry for their family. It is heartbreaking. They are in my thoughts and prayers.
Question of the DayAll these guys say MINE MINE MINE. We as women and mothers here this all the time from other people and we are always pleasing other people.
What do you do for your MINE time?
MINE time - usually reading a book or on the computer or my iPhone. Saturday mornings I usually wake up before anyone else, and catch up on all the shows DH doesn't like that I DVR'd. That sometimes take two morning, luckily DH sleeps late on weekends when he can.
Today started off with a trip to the ER for Izzie. Her ear started bleeding this morning around 7:30. We think it was infected as the swelling had increased again. The dr drained more from it and we have to try and make an appointment with the plastic surgeon or an assistant in the next 2 days. I know he's in surgery tomorrow and in Boston on Tuesday so this could be a challenge especially since I'm supposed to work all day on Tuesday. It never ends. I talked to my co-worker who is going to tell the boss for me to prepare her in case I can't be there. My family comes first and we can reschedule the massages for another day. We were back home by 11:30. It hurt a lot despite the medication they gave her. Lots of screaming and crying. They finally gave her motrin which kicked in about 15 minutes later. She has her ear wrapped in gauze.
Hope Izzy is feeling better soon. I feel for you trying to take off work during a really busy time. It is crazy that I feel guilty if I do, but family comes first with me too. And stuff happens.

Really busy crazy week at work, but good on the diet front. I stayed OP, tracked and was very careful. So far I turned down donuts, sundaes and chinese food. But it paid off! Overslept Friday so couldn't weigh myself, yesterday morning was 6 pounds! Gotta love the first week after a break! I started out above where I had started my last challenge, and it just fell off! I know it will slow down after this, but that is a great feeling! I have been dancing around all weekend! Splurged Thursday and today on milk duds when we went to the movies, but drank water instead of the slurpees.
Movies again next weekend with friends, and lunch with that, so will need to be absolutely good until then Going to Eggspectation, never have been. I have seen it on expense reports, and seems very popular.
Looks like our trip is a go. So excited to see my new niece and nephew, another nephews wedding and a family reunion. Going to be a crazy trip though. Lots of driving to make all the events. Need to make it their though, spend some time with DMIL. During the fall challenge, she lost two of her siblings in the space of one week. I fell apart during that, and did not do very well the rest of the challenge. This week, her third sibling passed away. It is her three older siblings and she is the next one in age. Her younger brother (only other sibling left) is undergoing treatment for cancer, although they think it might be OK now. But I think she is probably feeling a little scared and shakey. She is much healthier than the three of them were, so that is a blessing, but she is probably thinking she is next in line...
Work has gotten very stressful, filling in for a coworker, so even did some work at home this weekend. She is back the middle of this week, but I am crazy far behind. Will probably do some work at home next week as well, but at least it will get it done. They put off the accounting changeover to July, so that gave me some space, but of course it will just get crazy then! Will be so glad when it is over!
Need to wrap this up, send in my HH and weight and get ready for work tomorrow. Take care all!
