I've just been sticking with what I have been doing. Lots of water, exercise and following the diet. I started two new exercise classes that I love!
That's great! What kind of exercise is it??
The one I am working on right now, besides losing weight and getting healthier, is the Disney half marathon. I am aiming for the Wine and Dine half in 2014. But I will be running a half locally before that.
MK-Splash Mountain, Tea Cups
Epcot-Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Maelstrom
HS-ToT, Rock n Rollercoaster,
Disneyland-Alice in Wonderland
California Adventure- California Screamin', ToT
We are going to San Diego in January and I am trying to find a way to convince DH to go to DL for a day.
I lost a little over one pound this week.
I started Zumba class last night. It was really fun and a great change of pace for my cardio.
I have plenty of healthy activities planed this weekend for DH and I. C25K run then a movie and dinner tonight, mini-golf, hiking and a picnic tomorrow. Sunday will probably be a rest day. I really need it!
GOTTA hit DL while in CA! I managed to arrange a wedding trip to NM into a 10 day trip including 3 days at DL a few years ago! If I could convince DH of that, I'm sure you can manage one day at DL!
Enjoy your day of rest.
Soooo...what do I do? I bought a new scale this week. My old scale never said the same thing if I stepped on it twice, and I hated that....it would be up to 3 lbs off! So I lost 3lbs this week, but I didn't really lose 3lbs, I really only lost a pound or 2. I am going to pm my new weight with the new scale since that is what I will be using from now on. Hope that is okay!
QOTD: Hmmmm...my favorite ride is any ride in Disney World!

No, seriously, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Soarin! My all time favorite ride!!
I excercised a ton yesterday - gardening during the day, then in the evening I went for a 30 minute run and then played tennis with DH for about a half hour or so after. I was beat! Today is more strength training. Hope you are all having a great week!!
Great job with all of the exercise! You'll figure out what to do about the different weights, but at some point in time you will need to just bite the bullet and start recording under the weight that the new scale gives you. It will all work out in the end.
I wanted to be more active this challenge and then I don't update for 2 days! Well not much has been going on, eating hasn't been great, its always one meal or snack everyday that throws me off but i'm trying. I went to the grocery store and bought some fruit, they finally have nectarines back which i love! But i hate peaches!
Try preplanning ALL Of your food for a few days. Take an hour and plan EXACTLY what you will eat (including portion sizes) for EVERY meal and snack. Write it all down in your food journal ahead of time and then just add a small checkmark as you actually eat it. Have a small "plan B" of adding a piece of fruit or a small salad if you are truly still hungry after eating the planned foods, but other than that, stick right with the preplanned things. This eliminates the mindless eating and snacking and boredom eating that can sometimes take over. After a few days of nearly perfect OP eating, you will feel less inclined to go off plan.
i talked to a couple other managers about what happened the other day and they said i should really talk to HR about it. SO i'm thinking that over..we will see.
Do what feels right for you.
i went running yesterday. Well... "running" really, but it was 40 minutes of doing something so that's better than nothing. I will run again tomorrow, today i'm sore and i don't want to make it worse.
Right now im really tired so im going to take a nap before my mother gets home, because once that happens, its all over. I will check back in later
Hope it was a good nap!
Quote of the Day
If you're always racing to the next moment, what happens to the one you are in? Enjoy the ride
Sorry I'm a little late to the party, busy day.
Going back to pg 29 so I can catch up.
I keep trying to remember to LIVE in the moment. Sometimes it is hard, but with the anticipation of only having DD home for one more year, it certainly makes every moment more precious.
Hershey bar. I loved it but then felt guilty the next day. LOL So we ran 3 miles today. It was horrible but it's on the books.
Your run was SO MUCH BETTER than mine.... as in, I didn't run! SEE.... you beat me!!
I personally wouldn't splurge on a Hershey bar.... not enough appeal for me.... but watch out if you are holding a batch of cookie dough or maybe a 3 Musketeers bar!!
We each have our own kind of kryptonite!!
SEE, take that mean girl. She's so dang smart and mean girl is jealous!!!! But a gym award is nothing to throw stones at either. Your DD is awesome!
Congrats to DD!!! I will share the news with DS15 when I drag my butt upstairs.
Thanks for the encouragement for DD.
Bowling decor is being cut from the Nifty 50's cartridge. Thankfully they had one bowling design on there and I laid it all out on the Gypsy so I just need to cut it and piece it together.
The bowling pins are empty beer bottles wrapped in white plastic table cloths and the red stripes are made from red electrical tape.
I'll post pics when I'm done.
Sounds really cute! Can't wait to see pictures!

Good day today, just busy. DS11 got a positive diagnosis for Lyme Disease so I dropped the little kids off at school, took DS15 to school late (no exam 1st period so he didn't have to be there early), ran up to the DR got the scripts, ran back to Target dropped those off, got DS15 at noon, ran 3 miles at the green, got the little kids, back up to Target for the scripts and lunch at Panera, now I'm home.
Oh my! I will definitely put your DS on the top of the prayer list! Hopefully it was caught quickly and will respond to treatment promptly.
Be sure to get your Target Pharmacy rewards card..... it isn't much, but I just got my first 5% saving card in the mail and we don't get many prescriptions.... but it adds up quicklly!
I'm tired!!! And I have a wicked headache, I always get one when I run. I wonder if my breathing is wrong. Well, I'm sure it's wrong but I need to figure out why my head hurts so bad.
Trying to figure out what to have for dinner. I'm leaning towards pizza but $$ is low this paycheck so I might just send DH out for hot dog and buns and we'll have burgers and dogs. Gardenburger has some really yummy chipotle black bean burgers. They are awesome!!
It must be the month for low bank balances. DH gets paid once a month.... at the END of the month, and I have already had to go into the account and make an extra deposit this month!

And it's only the 9th! It's gonna be a long, lean few weeks here! Thank goodness I put some cash away for some upcoming graduation gifts! Fridge and pantry are fairly well stocked (although we are out of milk at the moment) and I have cash in my wallet, so we will make it without another withdrawal from savings if we don't go nuts.
LOVE Gardenburgers. My Shaw's doesn't carry them anymore, so I have to go to Hannaford to get them. I also like MorningStar Farms California T'key burgers... really yummy. Not so fond of the MSF Asian patties, but will need to eat them, as I have two packages in the freezer.
Uggh. I had the same thing happen when I started the challenges back in 2010. My old scale was off by 6 pounds. I am glad you figured it out early and have a more accurate number to work with. The nice thing, my new scale seems to be spot on with my dr's office, so no big shockers when I go there.
Buffy--I hope everything is ok with DS and the Lyme disease. It sounds like maybe you caught it early???
OOoohh... nice to see you here a few days in a row. I have been following your mini TR on your journal page... just haven't taken the time to respond.
Rose I think he might have had it for a few years and just hasn't had symptoms or ones you can put off on something else. Right now it's just swollen knees. We thought it was growing pains but when they didn't go away I asked for an ortho referral. Dr decided we'll do the referral but just in case, let's test for Lyme.
Now DS15 had a high fever for 3 days and joint pain last week, saw the other DR in the office and he took the wait and see approach. So when my Dr got back in the office and did the test for DS11 I talked to them about testing DS15. He goes in for a blood draw Monday. DS11 has to take an antibiotic for 30 days, them hopefully he will be ok.
Oh. that long?? Well, hopefully it will respond well to the antibiotics. Prayers for DS15 coming too.
Okay I skimmed through the thread but between the TV and Rosco whining I wasn't really focusing. I'll go back later and post replies
QOTD:
MK: BTMRR
Epcot: None really, don't really like the park
HS: Tower of Terror
AK: Kilimajro Safari
Will admit that EPCOT is not my favorite either, but the frustrated wanna-be world traveler in me LOVES World Showcase! And Soarin' alone is worth the price of admission!!
I'm down 2 pounds since intial weigh in!! I'm 2.3 pounds away from ONEDERLAND
THat is GREAT!!!
YIKES! Hopeing all goes well and they get better soon.
Well I am sitting in my ER awaiting heart echo results on my 13 yr old DS who passed out today. All the other tests are fine but they want a pediatric cardiologist to look at the echo and she can't until after 6....so we wait! Have been here for 5+ hrs already and she is going nuts!! Have plugged her in to all the electronics I can and she is still driving my crazy!
Was going to go to Zumba tonight...so much for those plans...and you can imagine my diet in the hospital! I shared a few chicken strips with her over lunch and then ate an entire container of dried pineapple, banana's, papya, cranberries, dates and peanuts
can't wait to research the company and find out how many calories THAT was...
My gracious! Hopefully everything comes back normal and maybe it was just a one-time thing. Prayers for you folks too! I'm definitely NOT going to be skipping church tomorrow!
Oh my Jen!!! I hope everything is ok!!!
DS15 went through something similar. Turns out because he's a runner he has low blood pressure and a low resting heart rate. Put that together with the chronic nose bleeds in winter and you have a perfect storm for fainting spells. He has to be really careful when getting up to quick.
Keep us posted and we will continue to keep you guys in our prayers.
DD and I both tend to run toward low blood pressure, so I suppose I should keep an extra eye on her at swim.

to you Pam for your daughter's AP Chem award. My oldest son is a Chemistry Geek! He is going to Penn State for Chemical Engineering. If she just finished taking AP Chem, you might want her to take the SAT specialty test for Chem. This test along with my son's AP score got him out of his first two chemistry classes in college.
Awww... thanks. She knows she SHOULD take the Chemistry SAT subject test.... but really doesn't want to! Can't say that I blame her, but she shouldn't miss the opportunity to spend ONE DAY taking a test that could take the place of an entire semester of chemistry classes in college!
Thanks, Mary! I am now up to 25 massages in the next 14 days! I left a note that I am not to be scheduled for any more massages between now and when I leave as my body can't take more. My DH of course said that's less than 2 a day but I said there are some days when I am doing 5 massages in a row which is my maximum for a day! My boss went and booked me 2 and said that I had agreed to stay late for those which I had absolutely not done! Going to be a crazy 2 weeks with probably lots of take out! Tips were a little better today for the groupon. I have 2 non groupons tomorrow so it won't be as bad!
Going to Izzie's last game in the morning and then going to work and then going to Ash's play and cast party. Just made a big batch of mac and cheese for the cast party. We went to see the play tonight! It was good but it was hard to hear at parts. They had the air on which created noise. I actually couldn't hear Ashleigh at all and people farther back couldn't hear ANYTHING!
Sunday will be Ash's last soccer game and then we're going to an ice cream place for the thank you party for the kids. They did well this season and they are a really nice group of girls.
Thanks for listening! I've been incredibly stressed this afternoon! Enjoying my Friday night cocktail and then I will have some water and then head to bed! Thanks goodness I started packing early because otherwise I would be in deep trouble! I only work Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat. so I have eight more work days to do 25 massages!
OK, off on another tangent!
TTFN
Fingers crossed that all of the massages will be good tippers!
I
Hey everyone!!! Had a fairly good weigh in today - would have liked more - but that's the way the cookie crumbles!!!
"Fairly good" is SO MUCH BETTER than "Miserable" or "Disappointing"!
27 years ago today DS and I said I do!! I can't believe that much time has gone by!!! (I know what your thinking - Yes I am about 3 inches taller)
My Maid of Honor - my one and only sibling - Lisa
I waved goodbye to DH and DS - they went camping with Scouts. So we decided our Anniversary dinner will wait until we are on HHI in August. Anyone been there and eaten at Michael Irvine's Eat?? We will send DS and his friend to Teen Night Out - and we are going to a "fancy" place.
Happy Anniversary! THanks for sharing the pictures! SO pretty.... and so "of the time!" It kind of makes me sad to look at how dated my gown looks (just celebrated 20 years ourselves) compared to what the girls are wearing now. Oh well.... Enjoy your belated anniversary dinner. We didn't go out either. DH bought us concert tickets for the end of June and we will have dinner out that night (thanks to my parents) before the concert.... provided, of course, that I can actually MAKE IT to the concert, as DD has a swim meet that weekend.
Quick Hostess Note:: I have been trying to keep up with the QOTD archive on the first page. What I have done is put the Quote of the Day under the Question of the Day (one is in blue the other purple). Enjoy.
Janis
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip! I need to upload some of her latest podcasts. I always mean to sit down and listen to them but I completely forget.
Plans for tomorrow:
Grocery shopping
Dinner at Rudy Tuesdays (or lunch depending on what time we decide to shop)
Swimming (weather permitting)
Finishing up laundry
Cleaning my bathroom
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Oh... now you are making me crave the salad bar from Ruby Tuesday! Thanks for nothing!
Good Saturday morning everyone.
Question of the Day
Giraffe's love to eat leaves. Doctors say we should be eating 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. How many are you eating? What are your favorite fruits? What are your favorite vegetable? Do you cook any in a special way that you can tell us about?
I will be back later with my answer.
Have a happy and healthy day.
Did you take that photo yourself??
Okay.... this is RIGHT ON PAR with the audio book I am listening to right now... "In Defense of Food" by M. Pollan (the same person who wrote "An Omnivore's Dilemma"). His tag line for this book is to "Eat Food. Not Too Much. Most Plants." I am on part 3 where is is talking about eating plants. Definitely gives me food for thought (pun intended) about my diet habits. With DH doing long-term low carb, I feel like it is a bit harder to plan meals around plants as opposed to animal protein.... even though I feel it is important. I do try to tweak the meals as much as possible so that DH gets more animal protein and the kids and I get more veggies and whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat couscous, quinoa mostly).
DO I eat 9 a day? Gotta look at my food journal.... BRB. Okay.... hard to say exactly what I get because I rarely (never) measure my veggies and I only measure smaller fruits like berries.
Looking back at my food journal for the past 7 days, the lowest number of servings I had was last Saturday (when I sat in the rain for 6 hours at a swim meet). I only had 4 servings that day.... two of each. And Sunday was only marginally better with 2 fruit and 3 veg. But after that the week improved and I had between 7 1/2 to 10 servings of fruit and veg each day for the remainder of the week. I am noticing the days when I eat salad twice and have some sort of fruit or veg at breakfast I tend to have the most servings. Having greens with my breakfast definitely helps! Most of this is veggies with only the highest serving of fruit only coming a few times at 3 (mostly it seems I eat one or two servings of frut a day, on average).
Anyhoooo.... don't have specific favorites, as I like most of both. Go go veggies are baby spinach (cooked, raw, in salads, in wraps, with eggs, etc) and baby carrots (easy to grab and snack on), plus cooked broccoli.... LOVE IT! Love it both steamed and roasted. The only veggies I would say that I DON'T love are turnip and radishes. But I would eat turnip if it was offered at a dinner. Radishes I would refuse.
No real special recipes for veggies. I try them lots of different ways.... grilling, roasting, steaming, sauteeing. Some are definitely BETTER some ways than other ways.
Go to fruits are mostly apples because they are usually inexpensive, usually pretty good (although this time of year it gets difficult), easy to grab and bring along, and preportioned. Also love strawberries and blueberries (mostly buy them in season). Honestly.... hard to think of a fruit that I wouldn't eat and enjoy... although some I choose to NOT buy because they are really high in sugar or I'm concerned about what it takes to get them here.... gotta think about my carbon footprint!

Not nearly enough veggies or fruit in my diet.
I am really trying to work at it. So, I look forward to hearing the special ways everyone cooks it.

Just finished 20 mins of Zumba on the Wii, and I have to say that I don't like doing it on the wii at all. Its really hard to follow along and even though the wii is saying I'm doing it, I know I'm not doing it right as fast as the "instructor". I like going to the actual class better, so I think I will be getting rid of the game. Besides my living room is WAY too small to really do the movements.
I did my weigh in today, and the scale stayed right where it was last week...
I will admit that I struggled with tracking everything every day, so I will be working on that this week!
And I will be happy that it wasn't a gain, and look forward to my new workout routine!
Give it another good week and hopefully you can have a "WHOOSH" weight loss that is significant!

Happy Saturday everyone! Was up with the birds for DD"s morning practice and took an excellent brisk long walk with another swim mom (she is a runner and tri-athlete... but she was going to yoga later, so just wanted to walk). So by 8 am I had my exercise done and my DD had her workout done! Popped home and made a nice healthy breakfast for everyone (had the second part of my breakfast as well) and now the men are off to b.ball and I will head out in a bit to arrive for the start of the game.
DS looked SMASHING last night for the semi-formal and his girlfriend looked absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Her dress, despite being a subdued color (gunmetal grey) was lovely and sparkly and PERFECT! She is tall, like my DS, but was able to wear heels and was just the right height! They looked so "together"!! I was thrilled. Nice to meet her family as well. Took lots of pictures and will share one here later with DS's okay. The orange and pink wrist corsage was the perfect pop of color. I was glad that DS had opted to go with a charcoal grey tie rather than a brightly colored tie (which was my idea). It was nice that neither of their outfits "outdid" the other and it made the flowers a bit extra special that they were the only color.
Her Mom did her hair and it looked special and pretty and had some pretty sparkly pins in it. I was pleased that she made such an effort. It made the evening more special for DS. The dance theme was kind of stupid (Sports???

) and they said there wasn't much theme decor.... but they still had fun.
Gotta leave here in 10 minutes for DS"s game. I guess I should pack up some lunch for us all, as we will be there for several hours right at lunch time. I'm not sure what I have to pack.... will go look now. TTYL..........................P
