Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Thanks CC! Glad I got the elliptical in this morning despite having to quit early. I'll probably just do WATP this week, at least for a few days until the knee feels better. It hasn't hurt this bad in a long time. I have been pretty good the rest of the day. Ash did the 10 minute AB workout with me. Just cleaned up the kitchen and now DH and I are watching DWTS. I like this cast a whole lot better than the last few. And these people are good!

Will probably be a rough night of trying to sleep as the wind is howling. Going to have some more water and Crystal Light.

Did anyone watch Celebrity Apprentice last night? I love the margarita and appletini mocktails! I'm going to have some margarita in a few minutes. I already had the Appletini tonight. You seriously don't miss the alcohol in them! I can't believe I am saying that.

I may also do some Wii Fit Plus on Wednesday when I am home.

Time for that 'margarita"!

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!

NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.

How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.

Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.

Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.

We have done 12 out of 21 weeks, so the challenge is 57% complete.

I find everybody on the list an inspiration and everybody who participates in this challenge is an inspiration in and of themselves. Whether you post, lurk or just pm your weight and check results on Tuesdays, you have made a commitment to yourself. And that is the biggest inspiration of all!BY Octoberbride03

Hello everyone :flower3:

I hope this is the right place :rotfl2: Otherwise people are going to be confused by my results postings :rotfl:

If I missed anything, please PM me. I didn't do part 3 since we're all in one place now. I hope that's right :confused3

Hope everyone is having an OP week!

HOLY GUACAMOLE! I am working full time until the end of the school year! :faint: What started as a brief conversation in the ladies room a few weeks ago has lead to being one of only a few ( maybe the only?) subs that can use the computer management system and now has "experience" in the Guidance department. I should be finished with this assignment at the end of the week and another school is waiting for me! Unfortunately their secretary had a heart attack Friday and will probably be out the rest of the year so I was asked to fill in. I was so :cool1: when I said yes and then when I got off the phone and let it sink in I had a mini panic attack! This is seriously going to cut into my Judge Judy time!:rotfl: We are going to have make a lot of adjustments at home.

Anyway :wave2:

I also signed up yesterday morning for Weight Watchers :scared1: I was so resistant to it for so long, but I couldn't do it anymore. I went with my mom to her weigh-in and she finally hit 100lbs lost!!!! I was so proud of her!!! And so inspired that I joined myself. I went through my cabinets and fridge last night and today and labeled everything with the points values...it looks like A Beautiful Mind came rolling through my house! I think it'll turn into a challenge, too- my mom and I have roughly the same amount of weight to lose to get to our goals...I told her it was on til the break of dawn! So far today I've been good and on-track with my points :) Can't wait to see some results!
:thumbsup2 I should do that to my stuff. :cheer2: to you and your Mom, but a little more :cheer2: for you! ;)

Church was a disaster. It has nothing to do with the religious part of it. My friend was a jerk to me. I don't understand why she thinks she has the right to insult me and what's more, I don't understand why I continue to call her my friend. :scared1:

Today is filled with classes, a math team pizza party and awards and then I have a makeup yoga class. I am hoping to get into the grocery store to shop if I can get the time in.
I must be really tired because I had to read that 3 times to figure out what makeup yoga was-- somehow I was thinking it was some sort of new cosmetics strategy. "Ok, now we are going to down dog with the eyeliner. Hold that pose with your blush." :lmao:

Thanks for the compliment! :) I will try to post as much as I can on the thread, although I believe there are rules about posting links. I will find out because I think posting them on the thread is a great idea! :thumbsup2
You are free to post links as long as they are not to a sight that YOU benefit from commercially. If you have a site with recipes that you also advertise your in home cooking business, or it is pay per click and you keep posting it to increase your check then you can NOT post it. But if you just want to post recipes/links to sites you come across then please go ahead. We all want to see what you find!

Was going to type more but have to go call my mom. Not sure if I will make it back later. Will just say that the WW went okay today.

Thanks for the info LTS! I wouldn't know how to benefit from any of websites, so I'm good to post links. I have been busy doing research today and will post some recipes tomorrow.

QOTD for Tuesday, 3/27: Pretend that today is your birthday. What is one gift you would like to receive? I cannot be health related or something like worldwide genuine respect.

A trip to WDW would be great as would enough money to pay off my college loans. I've been out of school for awhile so there isn't much to repay, but still. A paid-off condo with the funds to live off until I get a job would be great as well! :cloud9:

Off to work on Healthy Habits and I need to be in bed by 10 PM.

Have a great, OP day tomorrow everyone!

Galloway has a great program for beginners that can be found here on his website. This is the link to his prior to 5K training training. http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/beginners.html

He does have a program for 5K training that is like the C25K program. I actually like his program better because you start out and stick with the intervals. Unlike the C25K that will have you running 3 miles. I know I can never do that. I wish I would have known that when I was starting. :hippie:

Thanks for the info! I'm going to check this out too Kathy. :cool1:

Chocolate chip cookies was my first thought too, followed closely by a margarita to go with someone's mexican.:rotfl2: I think cookies might lose something without the butter, and they are a treat where moderation comes in handy.

Moderation is very much worth remembering!

Sorry about your friend.
You are doing such a nice job as coach this week, CC. So full of helpful suggestions. I had the roasted tuscan vegies at Bertuccis' recently and they had eggplant in it also, not breaded, they were all roasted with olive oil, and it was very good.

Thanks for the hug. I will have to try the veggies next time. Are they a side dish? I may have had them, if so.

Good evening everyone!!

Well, I did have a dinner plan, but not a day time plan, and ended up snacking too much and not eating a real breakfast or lunch, but dinner was healthy and full of vegies, and tomorrow is a new day. I did get a compliment from my brother yesterday, that I was looking skinny. I'm far from skinny, but I did say thank you and accepted the compliment. I'm down 8 pounds this year, and I can feel it in my jeans and scrubs. I need to remember that every day, and remember how good it feels and only eat when i am hungry. Remember the genie and he will grant my wish, right.

Have a nice evening!!!

I love how you always get right back on the wagon! :worship:

HOLY GUACAMOLE! I am working full time until the end of the school year!

:yay: for a job! (I do feel bad for the secretary who had a heart attack.) I am sure things will work out fine and you should be honored that you were immediately asked for the position. Your kids are great!

Thanks for the  too!

In a moment of memory lapse, I presented this week's HH as a team challenge. The bolded part explains how things work now that we have merged.

Healthy Habits Week 13: Carousel of Progress

In honor of merging threads, I thought we could focus on how far we have come in the last 12 weeks.

This week’s 4 Habits are:

1. The family showcased in CoP didn't have a refrigerator at one point, but they did drink water. Drink a total of 64 oz. of water during the day. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.

2. We get to see exercise equipment from decades ago. I'm not sure how ell it worked, but we do know the value of exercise. Exercise daily. The goal is purposeful movement that burns calories, not a specific minimum amount of time.

3. In the final scene, we see the family cooking Christmas dinner. While the protein burns, the meal itself appears to be healthy and in particular, a good source of protein. Eat 2 servings of protein per day.

4. One of the things I noticed from watching the family go through time is that people have different ideas of how to reach their goals. This week, think about your goals and each day, do something YOU think/know will help you reach one or all of them. Examples: Journal your food, have a glass of milk, save your spare change. Note: Exercising and eating protein do not count.

Mini-Challenges

1. [Reflect on Your Progress: Think about what has worked and what hasn't worked. Think about who is helping you and who is not. Consider where you are now, where you were, and where you want to be.

2. A Good Way to Make Progress: Make 1 of your workouts (or part of one of your workouts) strength training.

Note: This week will go from Saturday to Thursday as this was posted late.

Please PM me your total points as well as the break down of points by Tuesday at 5 PM. Everyone who participates will be entered into the hat for the prize. There may not be a prize every week.

I really need to get back to posting more... :sad2:

Went to a wedding shower for a friend of ours over the weekend, and while I did eat a cupcake :scared1: I didn't eat all the super sweet frosting (just don't have the taste for it anymore) and I ate sensibly the whole day and at the party so I'm pleased. :goodvibes

So I've decided to take the plunge and am planning to do the Princess 1/2 in February! :yay:

I'm scared to death...mostly of getting swept or wearing out... But I really want to give this my best shot. The thought of going over 13 miles in one day is really daunting at this point, but then again, I never thought in January that I'd be able to do 2.5 miles at once and now it's no problem. Plus the race isn't until February so I know I can do this!!

Hopefully I can find someone here to run it with me since my DM has already said that she'll go to WDW with me but she won't be running with me. ;)

Going through old VHS home movies to get some put on DVD. Lots of good memories. Still kind of hard to see videos with my grandma in it though...

Quotd recipe--grilled cheese.

QOTD for Tuesday, 3/27: Pretend that today is your birthday. What is one gift you would like to receive? I cannot be health related or something like worldwide genuine respect.[/CO!

Well-- if it's something huge like a trip...there's a house I'm in love with a few blocks over. It's little, cute, kind of old with a huge backyard. I noticed it last summer when I found some great free stuff on it's lawn and I realized it was an old mans house that probably went to a retirement home or died. It's been empty since, and for sale.

No great ideas, but I did want to mention that allergies are (unfortunately) rampant. I brought shrimp to a party because it is low in points (old method as this was years ago) and I found out a good friend of mine is allergic to them. Interestingly enough, for his wife's baby shower, they had shrimp bruschetta. His cousins made and they didn't know about his allergies! My soap box message is that you may not know and it could be a problem. Maybe stick with simpler food like teryikae (sp) chicken or beef, but no peanut sauce. If you make your own cake, it can be free of everything but wheat. Cupcakes are really in right now. You could decorate them with graduation cap shaped picks. Tortilla chips and salsa are always popular. Maybe a cheese and cracker tray. The veggie platter was a bit hit at the party I was at on Saturday. The same was true with the fruit platter.

Now, if you are thinking a meal, there are lots of popular items. Stuffed shells or lasagna, or baked ziti. Meatballs are easy to make, but check the bread crumb ingredients for nuts. (Store brands tend to have lots of concerns about cross-contamination.) Roasted veggies are good and easy to make. You could do a sandwich bar using finger rolls. My mom always says kids like thing that don't require plates. I personally like to stick to things that are popular. I went to something where it was laua style, but not very authentic, and the complaints were nonstop when I was on the committee that planned the event the following year.

Long story short, I'm easy to please and I would suggest simple, common, party fare. Events that I have attended where this happens have received the most compliments. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the advice CC. I am planning on serving some of the "standards" ... meat tray, fried chicken, salads, rigatoni, possibly pulled pork sandwiches, munchies. I plan on buying cakes (one with his high school colors ... and one where he decides to go ... no decision yet).

Families and friends will be invited from 5-7, then my son's friends will be invited from 7-9 for munchies and anything that is left over from the dinner. This is what parents have done at the parties we went to last year.

I saw on a DIS thread where someone had root beer floats ... where the root beer was on tap. I am going to look into that also. I have just started with the guest list and there are a lot of people ... and it is mainly family right now .... ugh.

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

Total group weight loss so far 908.9 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 144 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
35% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 12?

I forgot to weigh in Friday. Then was out of town and totally forgot this morning to check in on the scale. I've been feeling crummy off and on and I want this health stuff to go away already. Anxiously awaiting results from the rheumatologist. He should be getting my blood, urine and chest x-rays if he hasn't already.

We(my brother, daughter and I) left Friday evening and went north out of town about an hour away and stayed at a hotel with good friends of ours. I had some anxiety symptoms on the way there but once my dramimine kicked in it seemed to relax me some so when we were getting ready to head slightly north of there to go find a lake I took another dose and was good all day so did it again on way home and fine too. The rest of the weekend was okay but today I've been feeling off and dizzy.

We just went to find some sites and a lake to teach the kids to fish. It was proving difficult all the entrances were closed from water and snow leaving them soft. Finally a park ranger told us of an entrance we could walk to the lake from pretty easy. We didn't think we'd find snow but we did. I have lots and lots of pics so sorry I go overboard on sharing. :goodvibes

Friday night when we got into Payson, AZ we specifically got a hotel with a indoor heated pool and hot tub. hehe. ;)

Hope you all had a great Monday I'll try to get some replies and catch up tomorrow. It's getting late and I feel so dizzy staring at this screen.

Good Monday morning everyone.

Had a busy day yesterday. I had classes, went to a pizza party/advisors meeting/awards ceremony, went grocery shopping, unloaded groceries and then went to yoga.

I am getting a cold but fighting it. I don't feel so bad that I am staying home but it is annoying.

I am going swimming this afternoon. I haven't gone swimming in a long time so I can't wait.

QOTD for Tuesday, 3/27: Pretend that today is your birthday. What is one gift you would like to receive? I cannot be health related or something like worldwide genuine respect.

I would have my bills paid off so that when I retire I have less to think about. They are lower than they have been in a while but dh is talking of retiring next year and I will probably go a year or two later so it would be nice to have our affairs in order. The best thing about retirering will be that we will be paid during the summer for the first time. We don't work during the summer but work to put as much money in the bank during the school year so that we don't have to.

HOLY GUACAMOLE! I am working full time until the end of the school year! :faint: What started as a brief conversation in the ladies room a few weeks ago has lead to being one of only a few ( maybe the only?) subs that can use the computer management system and now has "experience" in the Guidance department. Anyway :wave2:

The first couple of weeks will be tough but you can do it. I think it will be a great experience and you will be great. Cook during the weekend and serve leftovers during the week.

I must be really tired because I had to read that 3 times to figure out what makeup yoga was-- somehow I was thinking it was some sort of new cosmetics strategy. "Ok, now we are going to down dog with the eyeliner. Hold that pose with your blush." :lmao:

This comment made me laugh when I saw it last night. Thanks for the laugh.

Congrats to all our Biggest Losers for this week, especially Congratulations trinaweena!!!

Zoesmama Those pictures look beautiful. I am glad you had a great time.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Good morning all.

Sorry to have been MIA for the last couple of days. I was away to the UK over the weekend....managed to stay OP while eating out, which is encouraging for my upcoming vacation. Now I am super busy getting ready to depart for the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy on Friday.

Congratulations to all the Biggest Losers. Excited to see my name up there. top spot still eludes me.....but I will keep trying.

Hope all is well for everyone. just wanted to stop in and say hello.

Christopher

CC- Luckily the winds calmed down by bedtime. Woke up at 4:15 for no real reason and then reset the alarm for 5:45. I'll workout tonight plus I have to give a massage later.

A slight headache brewing this morning. It should be better once I drink my tea.

Decided that tomorrow will be my Costco, Staples and TJs day. We are low on many things including food. I have no idea what to have for supper tonight. It will probably be mac and cheese. Ash has dancing and Izzie is going to a friend's house this afternoon. I need to stop at the post office later. Should stop at the ATM this morning as well.

Time to get Izzie up and start getting ready for my day. It's VERY COLD here this morning!

Tortilla chips and salsa are always popular. Maybe a cheese and cracker tray. The veggie platter was a bit hit at the party I was at on Saturday. The same was true with the fruit platter.

Just a quick chime in here...... it is nice to avoid allergy triggers if possible.... especially if you specifically KNOW that someone attending the function has an allergy, but you can't avoid EVERYONE'S allergies, so don't make yourself crazy. I think it is more important that things are LABELED so folks can make informed decisions. Obviously nuts (tree nuts and peanuts) can be an issue for many people, so maybe best to avoid those. But you never know what kind of strange allergies someone might have..... my DS is highly allergic to poultry and pumpkin.... but I don't expect to show up for T.giving dinner and find just a tofu turkey and apple pie. I just need to be able to make informed choices for him.

Now, if you are thinking a meal, there are lots of popular items. Stuffed shells or lasagna, or baked ziti. Meatballs are easy to make, but check the bread crumb ingredients for nuts. I'm freezing!!! I want summer back!!! I guess I'll get used to this seasonable weather thing again, but boy have I been spoiled this year. Hope all is well in your busy life.:goodvibes

Good but busy. Heading to New Bedford, MA tomorrow. Haven't mapquested it yet (and sad to say after living in MA for the first 27 years of my life that I don't know the answer to this), is that anywhere near you?? DD has a job shadow with the Dept. of Marine Fisheries. She is so excited! But I don't know what I am going to do with my day. Obviously I'm NOT heading home. Will bring my Ipad, my healthy lunch, a good book, and my audio-book and try to keep myself happy. Will probably wear comfy clothes and good shoes so I can take a few walks too!

SOOOO missing last week's warm temps! I put on my walking/running gear to head out yesterday, took one look at the thermometer that said "39" and pulled out the TM!

Well, I did have a dinner plan, but not a day time plan, and ended up snacking too much and not eating a real breakfast or lunch, but dinner was healthy and full of vegies, and tomorrow is a new day. I was so :cool1: when I said yes and then when I got off the phone and let it sink in I had a mini panic attack! This is seriously going to cut into my Judge Judy time!:rotfl: We are going to have make a lot of adjustments at home.

GOod for you on the long-term assignment! I've had a few of those. You do get used to working after a while! :rotfl: You need to develop a "PLAN" Like throwing in a load of wash first thing in the morning. Then it is ready to hit the dryer when you get home and you can fold it before bed. Crockpot dinners can be a big savior! I have a few recipes/ideas if you need. Like an easy crockpot chicken cacciatore, and a creamy southwest chicken with black beans. Of course there is also pot roast, pulled pork (or pulled beef or pulled chicken), shredded beef tacos, cooked whole chickens.... lots of SB friendly stuff for the crockpot.

I think one of the keys to using the crockpot when you are busy is to get the stuff prepped and into the crock the night before. Then I put the crock in the fridge, plop it into its base in the morning, turn it on, and out the door you go!

Full college scholarships for both my kids.... including living expenses, books, and a car allowance!!!

Thanks for the update!

:goodvibes

Great job!

Going through old VHS home movies to get some put on DVD. Lots of good memories. Still kind of hard to see videos with my grandma in it though...

Sorry about that. When I watch a bit of old home video and hear my Grampa's voice, I tear up instantly.... and he has been gone for 16 years next month.

Prayers that everything comes back okay.

:goodvibes

THanks for sharing the pictures. How exciting that your daughter got to experience snow for the first time. Anytime she wants more, I'll be happy to send her our next blizzard!

Okay friends.... I have to apologize for NOT keeping my promise. I never got back on here yesterday. I got carried away at the scrapping table. I'm making some GREAT progress and really enjoying myself, so I'm sure you understand!

As I mentioned to Kathy, I have to drive into MA tomorrow to take DD to her job shadowing experience. Since it is such a long drive, I will just hang around and wait for her. I will probably try to find a McDonald's or such with free wi-fi and make use of my Ipad, so I should have plenty of time tomorrow to play catch-up here.

For now the TM is calling and there are beds to be made and three loads of laundry to fold BEFORE I can continue to scrap. oh well.

Hi Everyone!
QOTD for Monday, 3/26: I am up for a challenge. What recipe would you like to see made into a healthier version? My goal is to PM you a recipe by Thursday.

My MIL's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! I always mean to try those "bean" brownie and cookie recipes, but I never have.

Well, I typed in my cc number and hit the button. And I think it may be a good way to see what I am doing wrong. I entered my meals for the day so far-- all mostly SB legal and I have TWO, yes 2, points left for dinner and the rest of the day!:lmao:

I had a regular premade hamburger patty for lunch (leftovers from Thursday) and it was not from lean beef (which sb doesn't allow either) so that 9 points:eek: sunk me! And i had it on a mini bagel that had the same nutrition content as a ham. bun.

And while SB encourages a small serving of nuts for snacks at 5 points I think I will be cutting back on those!

Good thing it is Saturday and week will begin on Sunday-- I am going to need all my weekly points to eat dinner tonight!:rotfl2:

I will say that I am unimpressed with their food database though. Nearly nothing that I typed in was on the list. I had to add in some grocery items that I think should be basics to a plan like this like the specific brand of whole wheat bread, International Delight Peppermint Patty creamer and the burger patty. Couldn't find anything close enough to use.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner about you giving WW a try! Good for you for trying something new!

When I incorporated some SB aspects into my eating last year, I was very careful to stay on my WW points. As you can see, the SB eating and WW eating are pretty different when it comes to CALORIES!

I think the problems with SB and Atkins start when folks are used to eating larger portions of higher calorie foods.... then if you have a carb splurge and throw yourself out of ketosis, the calories pack on the pounds.

I was very afraid of getting used to eating larger portions and losing my ability to properly estimate a WW portion of things, which is one reason I stuck with my WW points when I started eating lower carb.

Nuts are healthy and yummy, but the portions sizes are TINY. When I consider eating 4 points of nuts (one serving), I have to think about whether I would rather have a low fat cheese stick, an apple, a Vitamuffin, and two clementines instead.... because that is what else I could have for the SAME 4 points (using the old Points system, not new P+). Sometimes I DO want the nuts.... I want the salt and crunch. But if I'm trying to fill my hungry belly, obviously the second choice is better.

WW CAN WORK and DOES WORK. But it will definitely require a different mind set from SB or Atkins. And if you are afraid of eating too many carbs, as you have been used to a lower carb diet over the past months, you CAN do a lower carb version of WW. But it is a bit challenging. I rely a lot on low carb pita and wraps, berries, lowfat cheese, egg whites, salmon burgers, natural peanut butter, and stuff like that that fits BOTH diets.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you want to chat!

I hope this works. I could not get to the reply screen last night.

QOTD for Sunday, 3/25: What does your schedule look like for the rest of the week? What pre-planning do you need to do to stay on plan?

As a substitute, I don't always know on Sunday what the week ahead will look like. That said, I do have a few things that I try to ALWAYS do to prepare for the week.

I try to always have a menu plan in place. And most of my dinners rarely require more than 30 minutes of hands-on time, so even if I have to work that day, I'm still okay.

I plan my menus with alternating lighter and heavier (more and less points). And knowing what my dinner Points will be makes it easier for me to plan my breakfasts/lunches.

Exercise is tougher to fit in on work days, but I try to keep a pair of sneakers in the car so I can AT LEAST get in a lunchtime/break time walk, if nothing else. I definitely PREFER morning workouts, but I will hit the Y in the evening if the day has gone off track.
*********

Okay..... I"m caught up for the most part. I'm off to make beds and hit the TM! TTYL............................P

I did my 5K, Run for the Rescues (for the SPCA) on Saturday morning, my actual birthday, what a way to start it all off. I didn't do well, the course was ruff! Um, dog reference? It was all hills, and I am not exegerating!
Anyways....catching up!

What does my week look like? Well, I am solo this week as the parents went on vacation. I am hoping to get in some workouts at home. But Tuesday night I am going to go see DAUGHTRY!!! :rockband: With running home to take care of the dogs and cats, and then up to the venue, I am hoping to at least eat something not so bad for me!

Good luck this week everyone! :woohoo:

Awesome job on the 5K! That is awesome that you did it! Just try and keep up the exercise and get used to the distance and the Everest Challenge will be a piece of cake for you! Way to go!! And have fun at the concert! Happy birthday Lara!!

Yikes! I woke up at 11 AM! :scared1: So much for my morning run. Guess it will be an afternoon run. DS1 got back from his trip at 2:30 AM. He called at 2 with an ETA. Threw on clothes and hopped in the car to meet the bus. Then when we got home I couldn't get back to sleep! gah I had problems falling asleep when I first went to bed. Then I had to take DH to work at 7. That time I did fall right asleep.

The day without children was lovely. DH and I did go to the beach, alas, no whales. We had lunch and a nice walk on the beach. Unfortunately we went to Harry and David's and I stupidly bought some macadamia shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate. OMG!!!!! I also got chocolate covered raspberries. I did not buy moose munch which was on sale! About the only redeeming thing I did!!:lmao:

So I've had a bowl of cereal and once that settles I will probably go run. Depends on when DS2 gets up and what he needs. He was bummed that he never got a workout in while on his trip. "We always got back to the hotel too late and the area was closed! I wasn't sure if they really put tape on our doors and I didn't want to get in trouble getting up at 5 AM to workout." They had a good trip. I'm sure I'll get the details when he's up.

QOTD: My first thought was chocolate chip cookies! But reading everybody's answers got me thinking I should come up with something dinner-y. Unfortunately, I can't!

Have a super week!

Glad you got to go to the coast with your husband. That sounds lovely!

Fly by post here. :car:

Crazy busy day. Nothing like going out of the office for a few days to make people feel like they really need you. :teeth:

I'm just going to try to hold the line here and get right back on the wagon when I am back.

It's snowing like crazy here so I'm glad to see that the forecast is for sunny and 84 in Arizona! :sunny:

See you all in few days! :wave2:

Have a great trip and hold that line! You will be back on the wagon as you are pulling in your driveway! Lots of luck to you, and I know you will do great! Lisa- do you know if there is any incentive to doing the Tink again (since we did the inaugural one)? Any perks for doing all of them? I'm really trying to decide between Tink and Donald for 2013. Donald registration opens up April 10.

Hello all!!! Time has been limited on the boards today, paid bills and all that fun stuff that goes along with shuffling money.
Anyway, wanted to give you an update on my BFF who has just started her weight loss journey. Down 7 pounds the first week!! I was shocked and thrilled for her. This all from diet alone, she has fibromyalgia so it's hard for her to get the exercise in daily. We are headed to WDW in December though, so I told her she needs to start a walking regiment this summer.

Me, well she guilted me into not eating the oreos for lunch so I had a turkey sandwich and some baby carrots. LOL I even busted out the scale to weight the turkey. 4 slices is 2oz of hillshire farms roasted turkey. Lunches total for the day was 189 calories, not bad but I had to much for breakfast. I need to have a minimal dinner. Steak, rice and broccoli is on board. The rice will be my down fall but I need to keep dinner under 571 calories. I should be able to do that no problem.
Trying to find a workout to do today. I'm bored of the treadmill so my choices are WATP, 30 day Shred (never done before), and kettle bells. Any opinions?!?
Oh and I just discovered I have the BL sculpt (??something) workout too.

Congrats to your friend and isn't it great when we have an unexpected kick in the pants? Way to go!

I must be really tired because I had to read that 3 times to figure out what makeup yoga was-- somehow I was thinking it was some sort of new cosmetics strategy. "Ok, now we are going to down dog with the eyeliner. Hold that pose with your blush." :lmao:

Awesome! Congrats on the job the rest of the year LTS! Obviously, they really like you! This will keep you active. Just sit down with some paper and make a daily schedule, like what you could do before work, to get things going that you normally would do during the day when at home. Maybe some laundry, food prep, casseroles, crock pot meals, cleaning, and one morning a week take it for yourself. Have an hour or so before everyone gets up and needs you, to just relax, read a book, do something for you! I know that is what I would miss the most (and I am looking into going back to work as well), and I plan to take a morning a week, just an extra hour even if I have to get up early to do it, and just have some "me" time. Coffee and a good book, a magazine, a tv show, a walk, porch time, whatever. Great job! What a confidence boost-sorry about the heart attack the other secretary had, but they want YOU! That is awesome!

A Chanel J12 watch? No, seriously, probably something more practical like a bike! Like a good bike. I want (need) one. I would use it all the time. We have two local bike shops. I want to go get fitted for one. I know they are expensive ($600-over a thousand dollars). Does anyone on here bike? What brands are good? Any advice/tips? The brands that seem to be popular here are Specialized and Trek.

Congrats! Way to go! You will do fine! Just keep on being active. Run/walk at least 3 times a week, and you will be golden. Try to push that threshold of what you feel you can handle distance wise. Go two miles twice a week, and then once a week for your long run, try to go 3 (run/walk of course). Then the next week maybe go 2.2 miles twice a week, and then go 3.5 miles on the weekend for your long run. If a distance seems hard, do that week over. You have a lot of time between now and next February. Take it slow, and maybe only bump up your distances every two or 3 weeks. You will be there before you know it! Just stay consistent and SLOWLY up your distances and you will avoid injury. Good luck! That is so exciting!

Christopher

Wow- what a trip! The Dream and then the Fantasy? Wow! Please take lots of pics and let us know how it all goes. I am going on the Dream in September for the first time and simply cannot wait! Happy safe travels!

====================================
Well, its a cold snap here again. BRRRRRRR! I did my workout with my trainer yesterday, then did a Spin class last night.

I'm going on a run with a friend today, then have Run Club tonight.

So far, so good! If I can stay OP from now till Friday I should have a nice weigh in!

Lisa I have the Galloway app on my phone, I just reloaded it. I need to set it back up again but I will probably use it more this summer when I can run outside, one bad thing about the dreadmill is it's more difficult to do short intervals.

Kathy I agree!!! I want my warm weather back!! I feel like I want to hibernate again.

LTS Sorry to hear about the secretary but work til the end of the year is awesome! Whatcha gonna do with that hard earned cash? Trip to the World???

QOTD for Tuesday, 3/27: Pretend that today is your birthday. What is one gift you would like to receive? I cannot be health related or something like worldwide genuine respect.

I would love a hunk of cash, I want to pay some things off. Or a trip would be nice too. We want to take the kids to the UK but it's expensive!!

Christopher Green with envy here!!! I hope you have a fabulous time on your cruise!

**********************************
I ended up having a great day yesterday. I weighted and measured my food for dinner 4 oz of steak, 2 cups of broccoli, 1/2 cup of rice (which tasted really salty so I only had less than 1/2 of it) and 1 tbsp of A-1 sauce. Even with my iced caramel macchiato I had with breakfast, I was still 91 calories under target for yesterday!!! I had no snacks!!! I ate until I was full for dinner, not stuffed, and I didn't feel nauseous when I laid down last night. It was awesome!!!!
I did not however get a workout in because DS11 informed me that he needs to be Alexander the Great tomorrow, so we worked on costumes for that. Today I need to finish that and paint stuff for DS10's Blacksmith diorama so he can build that tonight, also due tomorrow. Love my kids!!!! LOL

OK, off to goodwill to find a roman warrior helmet!! I knew I should have kept DS15's warrior costume!!

Speaking of WW, I have a new iPad (GORGEOUS gadget that I've completely fallen in love with) and downloaded the WW Kitchen Companion. This morning, I looked up bananas so I could do something with the three nasty overripe bananas in my fruit bowl (I like 'em on the slightly green side). I found lots of recipes and went with a banana and oatmeal bread recipe. It's baking now in the toaster oven, and I can't wait to see how it turns out! The app is awesome as you go through the recipe - you check off the ingredients, and you can highlight the step you're on. There are options to save your favorite recipes, too, and I'm looking forward to exploring this app more! I'm not sure there are many reasons to keep my space-hogging cookbook collection anymore...

XO
Liz

Oooo, I would love a copy of that recipe if you still have it! :)

So many people do Weight Watcher and love it. I have never tried it, but have relatives who have & swear by it. My sister is thinking of signing up. I hope you like it and good luck (oh, and not to sound mean, but I hope you lose it before your mom does :)).

Jill

Heehee, me too Jill! I'll keep you posted on the progress :thumbsup2 It has been fun finding substitutes for all my old foods, and finding new ones to eat.

Anyway :wave2:
:thumbsup2 I should do that to my stuff. :cheer2: to you and your Mom, but a little more :cheer2: for you! ;)

Thanks! I think I can beat her ;)

QOTD- I would want all the money I will need to get through school, both nursing and anesthesia-wise. AND all the money I will need to live off of during that time- including rent, car/insurance/gas, food, and fun money (that includes enough to go to Disney, of course ) I say rent because I need a calm quiet space to study all this craziness, and while I like my house and neighborhood (I live with my parents) a calm quiet space it ain't!

I can't believe I'm the biggest loser this week! That's crazy! I guess all that southern food did me good...which doesn't make sense at all!

I also go a bunch of grades back yesterday that were very good, so I'm feeling pretty good about all that!

I slept in this morning and I need to make breakfast, (I really want a rasberry pancake) but I also need to finish this homework assignment before noon..ugh! Then after class I have history club, then work till 9:30, then a midterm on wed, and a midterm on thurs. I also have an interview on wed for the big brother big sister program in our area. Plus just a ton of homework.

So i might not be around that much this week, but I just wanted to share one picture from my tennessee trip..i have more to share eventually! I just love how i look in this one!
