Biggest Loser Alumni Holiday Edition: past, present and future participants welcome!

Good morning all!

Sue, thanks for coaching yesterday! :flower3:

We will not have a coach for the next couple of days as we celebrate the holiday but I am posting this recycled QOTD from Worfiedoodles that is a classic:
QOTD: If you woke up today and it was time to open one present, what would you want it to be? Not peace on earth, not a husband that does the dishes, something you can hold in your hands, ride, drive, or see. What tangible present would make you squeal with delight today?

And since I am in a recycling mood, I'm recycling my answer, too.

Okay, totally frivolous, totally impractical for my lifestyle and where I live but one of these would totally make me squeal with delight.

And a trip to WDW wouldn't hurt either! ;)

Congrats to our biggest losers of the season, and a special shout out to LISA!!!!!!!! Way to go I-da-ho!!!!

:lmao: Thank you, Buffy!

It actually wasnt all that busy at HS tonight.

Glad that you had a good time at the Osborne Lights! :santa:

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?

We only did token gifts this year but I did get a beautiful black running skirt with a sparkly WISH logo on it for the Tink that arrived yesterday. :tink:

When we went to WDW for Christmas in 2009 we simply did not have time to enjoy the Santas. It is something that we would like to do on another trip when we don't have newbies with us. :santa:

Deb, I hope that you get to relax and enjoy time with your boys this week-end.

Lisa - :worship: WAY TO GO with your last challenge! I am so proud of you and how you are doing. A total inspiration to me to get going again!

Thanks, Jen! It's so nice to see you posting again! :yay:

I just had to get some new running socks, too, mine disappear at a remarkable rate! :rotfl: I got some really cushy trail socks. What did you get?

Pamela, hope the plumbing problem was quickly resolved! :flower3: That is a big :scared1: this time of year. Enjoy visiting with your folks!
CC, how was squidfest? ;) I'm sure it is a wonderful family tradition! :santa:

Funny story, for ds's K class we had to send in a wrapped gift for Santa to give him. He came home that day and loved his Santa gift, and said, "And guess what! Santa had the same wrapping paper as us!" :scared1::laughing:

:lmao: That is one smart cookie you have there, Michele!

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. Look for the new 2012 BL No Excuses Challenge thread soon after. I will be searching for coaches, and a co-hostess for one of the team threads.

Sounds like you are ready to enjoy a well-deserved fun family time! :goodvibes Thanks for hostessing the Spring Challenge. Looks like a lot of fun! :flower3:

Happy Christmas Eve everyone.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, too, Dona! :santa:

I'll leave the cleaning til last, and then if I run out of time, I'll have a drink and figure the house is clean enough.:rotfl:

:drinking1 Hey look at that! That house is already clean! :rotfl2:

Have a very, Merry Christmas, Kathy!

I can’t believe you went to the mall today! I thought Monday’s trip was miserable. :worship:

I wouldn't have gone for myself, but DD really wanted to go... and as that is the only place around here with a Disney store, I am hoping that she shopped there for me!!

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Yep, asked for some winter outdoor wear but I doubt I'll get it. Target has a really nice lightweight down type jacket.

Do what I did.... buy it, wrap it, put it under the tree, and mark it "To Mom From Mom!"

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?

Yep, we go in Dec as often as we can and love the Santa's. I think our favorite is the Monkey King in China, he is very animated and the kids love him.

Never heard of the Monkey King~! Does he bring gifts?

CC the field trip was easy. It's a 5 minute walk to the town library from the school and only 11 kids to shepard. We stay for an hour and have story time, a craft and sometimes a snack, then back to school for lunch. they do it every Thursday and the parents rotate weeks.

Doesn't sound too bad. Did the kids have "Christmas-itis"?

Good evening all. Today was busy. I had to take Mom to work so I could go to Target (:scared1:) to pick up some prescriptions for her and then to WalMart (:scared1::scared1:) to return some items for her. And then one of the items I tried to return wasn't even from there. :sad2:

When I came home, I was put in charge of wrapping all my brother's presents, and I made his CDs that I will be giving him. I'm still working on Mom's photo album but will finish that tomorrow. I finished vaccuming downstairs and did five loads of laundry. Need to do a sixth but that can wait. Have to go pick up Mom and my brother in a few minutes; he was supposed to come home tomorrow but is coming tonight instead. He and I are going to Grandma's tomorrow (I think). He likes to go spend time there, and I have to go with in case he has another seizure-which he hasn't since the last time I mentioned it.

Sweet of you to be so helpful to Mom. Glad your brother hasn't suffered another seizure. Hopefully your holidays will be peaceful and healthy.

The mortgage refi is underway, all presents are wrapped including the "important" ones. I've got Christmas dessert 2/3 finished. I just need to make the topping and get that on in time for it to chill. I may do that tonight. My eating has been really good as I can't stomach a lot and really am not craving sweets or food in general for that matter. My SIL made turkey tonight and when I ran some gift certificates over she made me a plate. I had turkey, mashed potato, corn and cranberry sauce. No gravy. Chris and the boys had mac and cheese and hotdogs so I feel much better about my much healthier meal.:cool1:

Tomorrow we'll go to my parent's house after lunch. We'll do their tree then Mom is making a complete Ham dinner for us all. Sunday we'll do apps here. It will be nice to just stay home and let the kids enjoy their gifts.

Oh my.... busy, busy lady... as usual. What are you making for dessert? I made one of those super easy semi-homemade ice cream cakes for DD's swim team supper the other day.... they are SO delicious and the kids LOVED it. I need to remember to make it more often when I am asked to bring a dessert somewhere.

Glad you are keeping up with the healthy eating as much as possible. I stayed totally OP yesterday, despite the craziness and the holidays looming on the horizon and was rewarded with a full 1 pound drop on the scale since yesterday! It was a big woohoo for me to see a decent number before the year ended!! And it spurs me to stay on track over the holidays!

I seem to remember a Zumba game for the Wii - but it seems like a month ago I wrapped it. I did wrap it last month. LOL I need to dust off the presents before I put them under the tree.

I have been to Disney during December and I don't think I have heard of the Santa's?? I did do the CP one year and that was great.

My work detail ended Thursday night. I had such a great group of people working for me - I was bored stiff for the last two weeks. They needed no supervision. I went back to my building today, the man I work with (my work husband ;)) gave me some really nice gifts, pair of driving gloves, some Yankee Candles and a box of Godiva chocolate. When I brought them home, DH made a comment that the gentleman I work with had shopped more than DH had. LOL

That was sweet of that man to remember you with those gifts.

I found out that the class I was to go to in a couple of weeks in Oklahoma was cancelled, to be rescheduled in late February or March. My boss asked me if I would be able to work days (Heck YES!!!!) to be involved with some upcoming projects. After working nights since 1987 - I have about had it. But on the flip side the idea of commuting into Boston during the morning rush isn't that appealing either.

You have worked nights for 24 years!!??? Wowza. I imagine it would be exciting to get back to days, but I agree with the driving into Boston. Could you take the commuter rail? Or maybe work a slightly off shift, like 6am - 3pm or something like that?

DS is in 9th grade and just started wrestling. As some may remember he is small. He weighs about 93 pounds and is 5'5". But it's working for him - he is on the Varsity wrestling team and is close to earning his jacket. As long as he is able to keep his grades up, it's been a great experience for him. He has kyphosis (hunched back) and the Doctor says that as long as he isn't lifting weights, etc. it's a great sport for him.

Wow, he is super slim! It's great that he has found a sport that can embrace his smaller size!

The 2nd and 3rd floor of the house are spotless. It will only take about 30 minutes to clean the 1st and I am ready for company. We will be visiting a few of my aunts tomorrow and then have 20 for dinner on Christmas. I will start cooking tomorrow night. I will cook the sweet potatoes, squash, turnip, mix together the stuffing for the mushrooms, cook the pork roast for dinner. Make the whole wheat dinner rolls. So all we would have left for Christmas is cook the ham and turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and asparagus. Make soft dinner rolls. Throw the Holiday Brie and the stuffed mushrooms in the oven 1/2 hour before the guests arrive, This year I have to remember to defrost the shrimp - last year I forgot. I know I have forgotten something.

Impressive! I've only got two floors and only one of them is reasonably clean at the moment. And I would have a MELTDOWN if I had to have dinner for 20 on the table for Christmas. I hate cooking and it makes me nutty!!

I really enjoyed peoples pictures of their trees. I will try to post a picture of mine. The rate the needles are falling off - I better take the picture quick.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. Look for the new 2012 BL No Excuses Challenge thread soon after. I will be searching for coaches, and a co-hostess for one of the team threads.

Janis

Merry Christmas Janis! Glad you were with us for the challenge. Enjoy your dinner.... hope you get a chance to relax and eat... being the hostess can be stressful.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone.

Had a busy day yesterday. I went grocery shopping, cooked the meatballs and sausage, made homemade pizza for dinner, and dh finished wrapping the presents.

Today I have to make an apple pie, pick up the platters for today and tomorrow, get presents organized to take with us.

We are going to go up to my parents this afternoon. We can't leave too early since they live right near the stadium where the jets and giants play. This game may also delay Christmas. My bil is a real jet fanatic. If they lose he may not make it(yes it has happened for a Sunday dinner). We will be home about 9 tonight.

Tomorrow I have to make an another apple pie and a pumpkin pie. Then I have to reheat the meatballs and sausage, and get the cheese and pepperoni tray set and pack for the transport. If I get home early enough tonight I may make the pies.

Today is pretty easy. Tomorrow is the tough day. Dh and ds's willl help out so it will work out.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Again Merry Christmas

Wow.... another busy cook! Makes me realize how much I DON'T cook!:rotfl: Everything sounds delicious!

I hear you about the football traffic. My DSIL and her husband live near Gillette Stadium (well, not real near, but close enough) and we have to be careful this time of year what time of day/week we visit! Nothing like sitting in traffic for a game you're not going to!!

Good morning everyone and a very Merry Christmas Eve to all!!

It's been a busy week, but I've stayed pretty low stress. My antique cell phone died and that stressed me out to add a trip to the verizon store on the to-do list, but it all worked out, and now I can actually text.:rotfl:

Ooooh... now I can text you!! :thumbsup2

I try not to stress and just enjoy the holidays but once in a while it gets to you. Today is my busy day, lots of cooking and cleaning to finish up and we have the whole family over tonight. I'll leave the cleaning til last, and then if I run out of time, I'll have a drink and figure the house is clean enough.:rotfl:

I definitely need to adopt that attitude! I kept trying to convince DD that the pasta supper should be a candlelight supper.... it is hard to see dirt and dust in candlelight! :rotfl: Unfortunately she didn't buy the idea.

Thanks to all the coaches this week! It's great to see such an active thread during such a busy holiday time. We have a pretty low key Christmas morning, so I hope to read back properly and catch up with all of you here.

Congratulations Lisa!!:cool1: Our biggest loser!!! I am so happy for you, and you, too Never Give Up and you are shining this year!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!!:santa::hug:

Merry Christmas my friend!!

***********

First of all.... Merry Christmas Eve to all of my friends!!

Second.... HUGE thank you to those of you who sent me a Christmas card. Sorry I didn't reciprocate... never managed to fit card making into the schedule this year. And I find it funny that I got more cards from my "imaginary friends" (as my family calls you all) than I did from my side of the family!!!

Okay...... today is the dreaded "cooking" day. I hate it, but it must be done. So far I've diced and toasted the bread for tomorrow's bread pudding, made two huge apple crisps (one for tonight, one to take to DSIL's on Monday), and started the broth for the broccoli cheddar soup that is for lunch today (Thanks to our dear friend Laura for the recipe!). Tonight's lasagna is already done (thanks to DH this summer!) and defrosting nicely, as is the garlic bread (store bought...oh well).

I need to make the salad for tonight and tomorrow (having spinach salad for breakfast with the quiche), quiche for tomorrow morning and finish the soup and that will probably be it for today's cooking. SO not too bad. Tomorrow morning I will just warm the quiches and make the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls (sure, homemade would be great, but I DON'T bake!). We will have a late breakfast, mid-afternoon munchies (taco dip, hummus and veggies, chips), and then make-your-own pizzas and bread pudding for Christmas night dinner. Not too fancy, but something that makes everyone happy!

DD is at the pool right now. I had DH take her. I had fully intended to go and get in a good hour's workout myself, but when I started thinking about it I realized how very far behind I was and realized that it wasn't going to happen. If I have time this afternoon I may take a walk with my Mom, but that will be it for a workout until at least Monday. I'm not going to stress about it.

DH and DD should be back by 10:15 or so. My parents are due here at 11 am. DD's room and bathroom haven't even been TOUCHED yet. Then I will need to pull out the trundle bed make up both beds in there for my folks. DD's "bed" on our floor is already made up.

After lunch I will do the last bit of "Santa" wrapping, set the table for Christmas Eve dinner, and get ready for late afternoon church (4pm service). We will be home from church about 5:30 or so. Hopefully the lasagna will be fully warmed by then, we will throw in the garlic bread, and eat by 6:30... 7pm at the latest. Then some relaxing, maybe a game or two and then a reasonable bedtime for everyone!

I may or may not be on here tomorrow.... depends on how the day goes. I will take this moment to SINCERELY thank each and every one of you for being the most WONDERFUL group of "imaginary friends" that a girl could ask for. I hope you each have a peaceful, healthful, and relaxing Christmas holiday.

May Santa bring you the unequaled gift of better health for next year.

Much love to you all........................Pamela

Monkey King:

Ignore my goofy face, DS10 (4 at the time was a little freaked out being that close) I can't remember the story of the Monkey King though, it was a while ago and I have baby brain, I was about 7 months pregnant with DD at the time.
DSC_0078.jpg

DSC_0105-1.jpg

eta: DH found this shortened story of the Monkey King
Here is what it says on the China scroll:

"The story of Sun hou-kong, the Monkey King, is an ancient Chinese legend that tells an exciting tale of redemption and enlightenment.

Sun hou-kong, a monkey raised by humans, became the Monkey King when he single-handedly defeated a horrific monster in his homeland. Afterwards, the Monkey King acquired incredible powers when he cleverly uprooted magic stick guarded by the Dragon King. With this magic stick and the ability to do just about anything, the Monkey King started to look for adventure and mischief. Buddha was not pleased with this abuse of power and decided to seal the Monkey King inside a mountain for eternity. The Monkey King quickly realized the error of his ways! Fortunately, a monk named Thang Seng believed in the Monkey King's redemption and asked Buddha to release him. The Monkey King proved to be a loyal comrade to Thang Seng. Like many holiday legends, this heartfelt story sends and important message of hope."

Good morning all!

Sue, thanks for coaching yesterday! :flower3:

We will not have a coach for the next couple of days as we celebrate the holiday but I am posting this recycled QOTD from Worfiedoodles that is a classic:

How can I not answer my own recycled QOTD?! :rotfl:

If I opened a new tv for my bedroom, I would squeal with delight. I don't think it's actually happening as there is nothing wrong with the one I have, it just still has that giant back and I'd enjoy an upgrade  I keep waiting for it to die, but a natural death seems to be taking a long time ;) This is the last giant tv in the house (I always have the worst tv), so letting it go would propel us fully into the 21st century. I am ready to go back to the future! :dance3:

Merry Christmas Eve, Everyone! I hope this frantic day is filled with good friends, good fun, and not too much stress!

Maria :upsidedow

Congrats, Lisa on being the BL!!!!!

Got one more thing for my Dad to wrap and then just get stuff out of the storage room.

QOTD : We're getting an xBox and I asked DH for the BL game for it. We also got Just Dance 3 so that will help us.

Gotta think about getting ready for church in a bit. Ash is showering and then I will give Izzie a shower. Mom is napping now and Brian, Dad and I are watching the Pats game. I'll probably take a quick shower again too. We will leave here for the late night service at around 9:30. We will give the girls their Christmas Eve gift after dinner. They each get a new pair of pjs! Brian's going to make two quiches while we are at church. I think Mom intends to make a couple batches of cookies after the early service. There are a few batches chilling. She also wants to make some cinnamon rolls and a pecan pie.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas Eve. Hoping to sleep until at least 7:30 tomorrow morning if the kids will let us. We always open our stockings in our bed and then the kids will have to get the grandparents up. It's going to be hard getting up in the morning especially since we won't get home until about 1am.

Deb, I hope that you get to relax and enjoy time with your boys this week-end.

The best Christmas present would be an invoice showing our Hawaiian cruise paid for :rotfl:

We spent the afternoon and evening at my Parent's house. My mother made a huge Ham dinner with tons of desserts. Of course SIL was in a pissy mood and yelled at her kids (and mine though they just ignore her). She also made comments about the potato tasting sour and a few other things so my mother was literally sobbing after they left. The milk in her fridge hadn't completely turned, but was starting too, the expiration date was today and my mother has no sense of smell so she had no idea. I really didn't notice the potatoes tasting too strange, thought maybe she had used a different variety of potato. SIL tends to always comment on something and makes my mother feel that she can't do anything right. I tried to reassure her as my guys were all in the truck, but I could tell she was still very upset. When I told Chris and the bosy they all went back in and spent another 20 minutes with her. She seemed better when we left. My mother always spends way too much time cooking and NEEDs everything to be perfect and has a hard time understanding that everyone has different tastes and likes and that it is not a personal attack if someone doesn't eat something. She knows that I have been have tummy troubles so I think I got a bit of a pass card today. Chris on the other hand probably gained 5 lbs as he ate non stop for 6 hours  She did say that he makes her feel good about all the cooking :confused3

My tummy has been doing a great job of keeping me on track. It sucks feeling crappy most of the time, but it sure has cut back on my eating.

I made a chocolate mint dessert out of my Hershey's cookbook. The bottom layer is a cake (almost brownie texture). That is topped with a mint frosting. Those layers are cooled then topped with a chocolate coating. The whole thing stays refrigerated. Chris and Hunter love it. I like it, but not this year, I don't think it would settle well.

Good morning everyone, I'll be your coach for the day!!! Sorry if I copy any of the previous questions.

Holiday QOTD:

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?

I did ask for workout clothes. I went ahead and bought some for myself already lol.

I just learned of the Santa's a few days ago. We've never been in December and if we were there, we would totally do the Santa's. World showcase is mine and DHs favorite thing about WDW!

Jill: I know you are a special educator, but for which grades? It sounds like you teach a range of grades. :confused3

I teach in an alternative education school, so I teach 6th through 12th grades. It's trying at times. Especially the boys. I hope my boys never grow up to act like some of the ones I have. They are so immature! The girls are so much better than the boys. They act much more mature than those boys!

We will not have a coach for the next couple of days as we celebrate the holiday but I am posting this recycled QOTD from Worfiedoodles that is a classic:

Have a very, Merry Christmas, Kathy!

Hmmm...this is a tough one. What I would really like is a vacation home (with no mortgage of course). I'm just not sure where that home should be located. I think it would have to be in Hawaii. I think DH would enjoy a quiet little place (ocean front of course) on the island of Kauai. Although, if we had a vacation home there, it may turn into our permanent residence and then we'd have a vacation home in beautiful western PA lol!

Or, I would love a motor home! But, I'm not so sure we could afford the gas to get anywhere in it lol. Can I get a motorhome with a Sheetz gas card loaded with a few tens of thousands of dollars of gas?!?!

Well, we had a very busy and wonderful Christmas Eve. We had dinner with my family at 2:30. The fish I made turned out so yummy. I definitely over ate, but it's a holiday so I'm ok with that. We did presents and went to 7:00 church. Poor DS5 was so tired he fell asleep sitting up during the sermon! He missed almost the whole service. After church, we went back to my sister's house and hung out for a quiet night (and more eating). The boys are in bed now, so DH and I are getting ready to get everything out of hiding. I cannot wait for the morning! After a morning here, we have to go to my inlaws for a couple hours then, DH works from 7p-7a.

I hope to get on here tomorrow. I am coach Monday and a little nervous since I am new to the BL. Plus, I had nothing to do on Monday when I signed up. Now we are going to DHs grandma's in the middle of nowhere in OH (and I mean nowhere...I can't even get cell phone service there), so now I'm not so sure I will be on much. Sorry in advance. I may post the QOTD tomorrow night and try my best to get on throughout the day Monday.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy!

Jill

Merry Christmas ALL!

Never thought I'd be up all night tonight but while I was at church with my parents and Ash, Izzie came down with the stomach bug. She is getting sick about eery 45 minutes to an hour. When I got home she said to me, with tears i her eyes, "Mommy, this is the worst Christmas ever!" She goes from smiling and laughing to absolute misery in about 2 seconds.

Santa was able to come and deliver gifts without her noticing. She woke up once after he came, got sick for a few minutes and laid right back down and went to sleep.

I'm on the couch and she is on a bunch of beach towels on the floor in front of the tree. She goes back to sleep so quickly. Talk about bad timing. Brian texted me when it started. Watching The Bishop's Wife right now. It's one of my favorites though You've got Mail is also on but I can watch that anytime.

Should try and get a little bit of sleep. We actually may sleep in tomorrow. Ash was exhausted when we got home and went right to sleep. Just hope she will sleep until 8:30 or even 9 would be appreciated. Her stocking is in her room so she can look through that. Our tradition of opening stockings on our bed will have to be skipped this year. Poor kid! She is just miserable!

Merry Christmas all.

Had a pretty nice day yesterday. I couldn't eat too too much when I got to my mother's house since I had to help my sister finish her presents. She made vests for our neices and needed buttons sewn on them so I volunteered.

I did show my mom her quilt even though it isn't finished. She has a problem with too much pattern so this is pretty calm and she liked that.

My one sister knitted mittens for all the cousins. The funny part was that they fit the girls really nicely but they just weren't the right fit for the guys. Not just one guy but all three. My nephew's almost fit but it wasn't even close on my guys.

I did pretty good with eating yesterday. I did have some dessert but there was not much I wanted to eat for the main meal so I had a big dish of salad and a small piece of ham.

I still have to make a couple of pies for today and to cut up some cheese and peppperoni. I think we are going to do bagels for breakfast since the bagel shop is open.

Question of the Day

Was there any thing special or surprising under the tree ?

WIll be back later. Have a Merry Christmas

Hi everyone,
Just jumping on quick.

Merry Christmas to everyone that celebrates :santa:

Hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families, friends and loved ones

Question of the Day

Was there any thing special or surprising under the tree ?

Merry Christmas!

I got a new suitcase set (3 pieces) that is going to be exchanged/upgraded for a 4 piece set that comes with a carry on. I got two new pairs of sunglasses, one for work and one for playing in the parks. Also got new socks for work (they have to be above the ankle). Mom also got me a box of both travel and real sized toiletries and some sponge candy. Then she gave me our rather heavy spare change jar and said that if I roll it all, I can have it. :thumbsup2

Mom was very pleased with the photo album and my brother loves his CDs.

DVC contract with a note that said "Paid in Full"?? Four year scholarships for both kids? Either would be great!

And since I am in a recycling mood, I'm recycling my answer, too.

Okay, totally frivolous, totally impractical for my lifestyle and where I live but one of these would totally make me squeal with delight.

And a trip to WDW wouldn't hurt either!

We only did token gifts this year but I did get a beautiful black running skirt with a sparkly WISH logo on it for the Tink that arrived yesterday.

When we went to WDW for Christmas in 2009 we simply did not have time to enjoy the Santas. It is something that we would like to do on another trip when we don't have newbies with us.

Yup.... still leaking today. DH replaced the line from the toilet tank to the shut-off yesterday... but unfortunately the leak is in the shut-off, which will require a plumber. We will shut it off when we are gone this week (and keep a bowl under it for the leak when we are here and using it) and call a plumber after the 1st. oh well. We like our house and it was built quickly and fairly inexpensively.... but the plumbing was obviously done by someone rather incompetent as that is the one consistent issue we've had over the past 17 years.

:drinking1 Hey look at that! That house is already clean! :rotfl2:

Have a very, Merry Christmas, Kathy!

Yup.... I finally had to give up on having a totally clean house by about 1pm yesterday. I figured in the long run it was more important to have a bit of time to relax and enjoy my family. DS's room is STILL a disaster, but oh well... he can tackle it next week. The three glasses of wine with dinner certainly helped me overlook the mess!!

Either a clean house or a Ferrari

Monkey King:

Ignore my goofy face, DS10 (4 at the time was a little freaked out being that close) I can't remember the story of the Monkey King though, it was a while ago and I have baby brain, I was about 7 months pregnant with DD at the time.

So much fun to see a picture of Sean as a little kid! I can't believe how tall he is compared to the other three right now!

How can I not answer my own recycled QOTD?!

DH offered a new tv for the bedroom, as that is primarily "my" tv, but honestly, I'm okay with the one I have.... and if I replaced it with a flat screen I would have to ditch the entertainment center it is in and I really like it. Hopefully your tv will die soon! Try spilling a cup of coffee on it, it might help! ;)

Merry Christmas Eve, Everyone! I hope this frantic day is filled with good friends, good fun, and not too much stress!

Maria :upsidedow

The best Christmas present would be an invoice showing our Hawaiian cruise paid for

Sorry that things were tough for your Mom. I understand how she feels. I am sort of like that.... I want everything to be perfect for my company, even if it is just my parents. I was stressed yesterday because they showed up early and I wasn't even dressed yet.... I was still cooking and cleaning. But my folks would NEVER make a negative comment about my house or food and hurt my feelings. But my Mom was giving me a hassle about RELAXING and just letting things go.... but it was hard to do. I don't think I really relaxed until we were in church. Dinner was easy (thank goodness) and as I said, the wine with dinner certainly helped with the relaxing!

Anyhow, nice of you to be so aware of how your MOm is feeling and to make sure that you (and your family) helped her with that. I'm sure she went to bed feeling much better than she would have otherwise.

The dessert sounds yummy.... sounds a bit like my MIL's mint brownies. Sorry that your tummy isn't allowing you to enjoy the holiday treats.

They are both great ideas! How about a motorhome with a lifetime supply of gas... if we are dreaming, might as well dream big, right??

Enjoy!

Jill

Don't worry about Monday.... we will be just fine. Pop on in the morning (or whenever you can get here) to say HI and post a QOTD and then don't worry about us if you can't get back on. I'm sure it will be quiet.

TTFN :tigger: :santa:

Oh my.... that is the WORST! Knock on wood, that hasn't ever happened to us... we suffered our share of colds and such during the holidays, but not that. Hopefully she will feel well enough at some point in the day to enjoy opening her gifts.

Sounds like a nice day..... weird about the mittens not fitting.

What kind of pie???

Question of the Day

Was there any thing special or surprising under the tree ?

WIll be back later. Have a Merry Christmas

I had a big surprise in the form of an IPAD!! I didn't even ask for it, but I"m not going to return it! DS is pretty envious, as that topped his list and he did not get one.... but I will share mine with him.

DD wasn't as thrilled with her Ipod Touch as I had hoped.... not sure exactly why. She seemed excited initially but her next reaction was...."well....I already have an Ipod".... but I thought that this would be so much better than her old Nano. She can return it if she wants, but I"m not sure what she would get in its place.

DS loves all of his Legos, but I guess they are paling in comparison to my Ipad.

Hi everyone,
Just jumping on quick.

Merry Christmas to everyone that celebrates :santa:

Hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families, friends and loved ones

Merry Christmas to you too!

Nice gifts. Glad everyone liked their gifts. What the heck is sponge candy??

*************

Just popping on to say Merry Christmas to everyone. I was typing this on my new Ipad, but it went "poof" and I can't figure out why, so I'm "old schoolin' " it on the desktop to reply.

We really took our time opening this morning, so we managed to make the gift opening last several hours (we took a break for brunch along the way).

I am enjoying my foods, but not going nuts. I made a "light" quiche as part of the brunch selections (no crust, no bacon, veggies, light cheese, and mostly egg whites), and I made a small batch of reduced fat cinnamon rolls (along with the crazy big Cinnabon ones). I made a lovely spinach and apple salad with raspberry vinagarette.... it was delicious with the quiche.

For a big splurge I had a few glasses of mimosa with brunch and enjoyed a Lindt truffle from my stocking. Not sure when I will open the large bag of peanut butter M&Ms. Might save those until I will my brother's family next week... then I can share them and not be tempted to eat them ALL.

We have some afternoon munchies planned and then make your own pizza for dinner. I will have a light thin crust (I think it is whole wheat) and then load it will sauteed veggies (had to do something at 7 am before the family got up today) and some light cheese. It will be a nice treat for not too many calories. Then dessert is homemade bread pudding (the O'Hana recipe.... never tried it).

Tomorrow will be a tough day, food wise. DH's family always has too much food around. So I need to hold it together today as much as possible. Then Tues and Wed will be totally OP days.... Thurs-Sat will be tough, as we will be at my Mom's and celebrating "cousins Christmas" while there. I guess I'll just do the best I can by planning ahead, eating really light when possible, bringing healthy foods and snacks whenever I can, and making sure to exercise. Can't do more than that.

I'm gonna run and make the bread pudding and play a game with my Mom. Then I want to read the "Hidden Mysteries" Disney book that I bought myself and play with my Ipad! TTYL........................P

Not sure if this is the right place so if it isn't, please let me know.

Hi there! I just wanted to come by and introduce myself since I'm planning on doing the WISH spring challenge when it starts January 1.

My name is Ash, I'm in my early 20's and I've decided that this is the year that I'm finally going to get healthy. And since it's easier to keep on track with someone doing it with you; what better place than here? :goodvibes

I've been over-weight ever since my teens when I had a two year fight with depression and turned to food and junk to make me feel better, ballooning my weight to over 200lbs. (Man, that was hard to admit...) Thankfully I've beat my depression, now it's time to take off the weight. I've already been making changes in my diet, cut out soda entirely, and drinking more water. Plus we're looking into getting a treadmill for us to walk on since our exercise isn't what it should be... :headache:

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and looking forward to fitting in some smaller clothes!:cool1:

Hello everyone! I was here about this time last year with similar intentions. I never made it all the way through the last spring challenge, but did lose 11 pounds overall.

I have exercised more regularly since then and have managed to keep 10 pounds off, but am ready to lose more! :yay: I would really like to lose another 10 in the next three months.

I started calorie counting (with sparkpeople) the other day, and am looking forward to starting the new challenge and getting to know you all again.

Welcome Ash. I'm in the same boat--also kicking the depression but have gained about 15 pounds in the last 3-4 months.

Great to see the regs and congrats Lisah! Looking forward to the spring challenge, just got a new laptop so keeping up with the boards should be easier.
QUOTD: Hope diamond. ;)

Merry Xmas, Susan

I was very suprised. There were gifts from DH, and all 3 sons. Nick went shopping and got me the Newest Tinkerbell movie, Hunter made me an arrowhead necklace and Colby made me a burlap placemat at school. I have it on my workstation under the pencil holders that the boys have made over the years :goodvibes DH got me Tink pjs as well as a bunch of other things.

I spent the whole day setting up routers, new laptops, adding antivirus software etc. The good news is now Nick has a completely function laptop which he can write papers on (the I key was broke on the old one) Colby has Nick's old one so he can get to his online games and Chris has a new laptop with a screen that is not broken. Everyone here seemed very happy with their gifts and their is nothing to return this year.

Hi Everyone!

Merry Christmas to all celebrating the holiday!

I only have a few minutes to post, but I wanted to pop in and send my good wishes. I also wanted to answer the QOTDs; I'm really working on doing this everyday.

Dinner last night was very good. We actually had leftover stuffed squid tonight. My GI doctor will love how much pasta I've had. ;)

I am posting this recycled QOTD from Worfiedoodles that is a classic:
QOTD: If you woke up today and it was time to open one present, what would you want it to be? Not peace on earth, not a husband that does the dishes, something you can hold in your hands, ride, drive, or see. What tangible present would make you squeal with delight today?

I wasn't sure at first, but then I read some responses and I understand the question. I guess you could say that being hypothetical is not my thing. :confused3

I'd love a chartered plane to WDW with a full week there with park hopper passes and deluxe dining. We've always been counter service people. I can count on one hand the number of table service restaurants we've eaten at so I really want to try another aspect of Disney. We've also never done a water park, but I'd prefer that in April or May.

I teach in an alternative education school, so I teach 6th through 12th grades. It's trying at times. Especially the boys. I hope my boys never grow up to act like some of the ones I have. They are so immature! The girls are so much better than the boys. They act much more mature than those boys!

Question of the Day

Was there any thing special or surprising under the tree ?

I got an iPod nano! I was quite surprised. I really thought the package from amazon was xanatham gum. :rotfl2: (I've been asking for that too and it is so much more expensive at the local health food store.) I did get an amazon.com gift certificate so I'll put that to very good use with some gluten free cooking/baking essentials.

I did get my extremely important package of socks. I seem to have this problem where I wear the pair and find a hole in it the next time I wear them. :confused3

My grandmother gave me a pair of electronic scissors. I think they are for my couponing. :rolleyes1

My sister bought me a waffle maker. She picked it out on Black Friday, so I knew about it, but I love it! It makes waffle sticks, and 4 sticks equals one regular sized waffle. The thing is that it makes up to 6 sticks at once, so I don't have to worry about any spillage. My father is :cloud9: because, while I love to bake, I'm a messy baker. :rolleyes1

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

Merry Christmas everyone!

We opened gifts around midnight . We then went to bed around 2am and were back up around 9. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast and ate our Christmas lunch around 1ish. We then lounged around and watched movies. We were watching Santa Clause 3 and both crashed for a few hours. Alan was putting stuff away when he accidently dropped his Blackberry in water! OYE! So, have to deal with that tomorrow.

We didn't go all out on Christmas this year. I got him an IPOD Nano and Season 3 of Sons of Anarchy. He got me a portable hard drive to back up pictures and stuff. He also bought me a Mickey necklace from one of the stores at Hollywood Studios.

I haven't tracked food since before I left for IL (Dec 9th). I've only exercised twice (walked DTD one day and Hollywood Studios the next). Tomorrow I am getting back on track. Luckily, I've not gained any weight this holiday season.
