Biggest Loser Alumni Holiday Edition: past, present and future participants welcome!

Congrats to our biggest losers of the season, and a special shout out to LISA!!!!!!!! Way to go I-da-ho!!!!

Sorry I was such a terrible coach today. I forgot about the library date with DD's class when I took todays date. Then we ended up going to Yale to see DS15 run again, so another 1.5 hour drive through rush hour to get there, then we had to wait for his event. Tonight he ran the 600 meter, placed second in his heat and ran in it in 1 minute 39 seconds. He was in an unseeded race but that group actually ran faster then the 2nd seeded group.

OMG my computer sounds like a rocket ship taking off so I'm going to shut it down until DH can look at it. So, I guess I'll touch base tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great night!!!

It actually wasnt all that busy at HS tonight. Granted we didn't get there til around 5 but still wasn't to bad. Sci Fi I think changed their menu, at least it appeared that way to me. They have a lot more sandwich/burger items on their dinner menu now. They still have the steak and the shrimp pasta items. They also added wings to the appetizers. Which let me tell you, those wings were DELISH! We both had angus cheese burgers and split the wings. Alan also had a side salad. I don't normally drink soda now But my head was spinning so bad because I was hungry (and I'm sure my blood sugar was dangerousy low). After a few long sips of soda and a few wings I started to feel better.

We ddn't ride any rides while we were there. We checked out the Osbourne Lights before dinner and then just sat around and talked before we checked in for our reservation. It was 930 by the time we were walking out of the park and after 10 by the time we got home. I walked about a mile and a half. So in the past 2 days I've walked 3 mies.

I need to get back on track and eating healthier. Ever since I was in IL my eating habits have gone down the toilet :thumbsdown.

Nothing planned tomorrow other then picking up some stocking stuffer items and a few things for the furbabies. Our honey baked ham is being delivered at some point tomorrow.

Good morning everyone :goodvibes A big congratulations to all of our losers and especially to Lisa. You rocked it this time :cool1:

I'll BRB with the QOTD.

Thanks for keeping track and congrats to everyone!

I am totally (well DH right now since I am on here) getting wrapping done tonight! I am also so excited that DH and I are having a date night tomorrow night. It just doesn't happen with DH working every weekend now. I am dragging him to see The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo!! YAY! Those books were awesome and I can't wait to see this movie. It better be as good as the book (although they rarely are). I plan on doing lots of reading during this break. I just don't feel like I have the time during the school year. Oh well, now I'm rambling. On to finish wrapping!

Jill

You're welcome :) Enjoy your date night. You'll have to let me know how you like the movie. DH and I go to a lot of movies, but I haven't added it to our list yet.

You are a WONDERFUL weightkeeper and thank you SO MUCH! :flower3:

Please excuse me while I do a little :jumping1: here. I am so happy to be the Biggest Loser this challenge. This is the 10th challenge that I've done on the WISH boards since 2009 and by far the most successful for me. Everything just clicked this time. I watched my calorie intake, realized that exercise never burns as many calories as you think, and hit every goal I had for each month. I could never have done it without all of you to support me! I thank you all so very much. :flower3:

You're welcome, I had a few stumbles but it'll make things easier for me during the next challenge.

Yahoo! You did excellent :yay: You should be jumping up and down.

Sounds like a nice relaxing trip. Did they add anything new to this year's light display?

Good morning everyone, I'll be your coach for the day!!! Sorry if I copy any of the previous questions.

Holiday QOTD:

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?

Holiday QOTD:

This year I asked for new workout clothes. I haven't bought myself clothes to work out in since I had a gym membership, which was almost 4 years ago :scared1: Don't worry, I haven't been walking around the gym in bright yellow spandex or anything :rotfl2: Just old shirts that I don't wear out anymore.

I also bought DH a FitBit this year. I'm not sure what all it does, but we've both been into getting healthy since September, so I'm hoping it's something new to keep him motivated as well as myself.

This is actually a question for my own good. I've never done this before, but I'd like to learn about people's experiences. We're going to Disney next December, but I'm not sure if this will be too boring for a 3 year old :confused3

No, I didn't ask for anything health/fitness related. I asked for practical things that I need for Florida. :thumbsup2 Although Mom did just give me two pairs of sneakers that she only wore a few times and didn't care for. I plan to spend all my free time walking around the parks so that will be nice.

I would like to do the Santas around the World stories. They all seem pretty interesting.

I didn't really ask for anything for Christmas.

If we did WDW at Christmas we would certainly take in the Santa's and every other holiday event that we could fit in.

Lisa - :worship: WAY TO GO with your last challenge! I am so proud of you and how you are doing. A total inspiration to me to get going again!

Holiday QOTD:

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Yep, I asked for new running socks (and since I bought them for myself....I know they will be in my stocking! :rotfl:) I also asked DH to buy me running items but to wait until the day after Christmas because our running store is having a huge sale that day. While it won't be under the tree, I will still be getting it. I am excited because today I ran in my skirt that is being held together with safety pins! ;)

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

DH and I went years ago at Christmas and did not do this. If I went again, I would totally do it and love it all! :thumbsup2

Too busy to write more right now! Have a Happy and Healthy Friday everyone!

Jen

QOTD: We always have some Disney paper. This year it's Toy Story, Tinkerbell, Pooh, the fab five and princesses. We also use Disney gift bags. We fill in with various other paper. I like lots of colors spread out around the tree. The same papers are used for gifts leaving the house. Each year I have to pick up more Disney paper, but I still have a pretty good stockpile of other wrapping paper.

We almost always have a Disney paper too.... but since I didn't buy anything this year, we don't have any. OH well.

I hope you got it all done. Tomorrow we have a Mortgage refi meeting in the morning then I'm tackling the housework. My mother actually started cleaning Nick and Hunter's room today, but they need to finish.

Yup.... go most everything done downstairs. And I was smart enough to pick up after the kids ate.... put away the extra table, washed everything, etc. So I came downstairs to a nice clean house this morning! It was a LOVELY feeling!

I had a lovely suprise today. My entire family showed up at work at Noon to have lunch with me. They got McDonald's for themselves and I had already had a yogurt so we just sat and talked. Apparently it was my mother's idea as she's been concerned that I'm depressed. So She called Chris, and her and my Dad picked up the boys. They also brought me a nice little rose plant. :goodvibes It's nice to see how much they all love me :goodvibes My mother doesn't distinguish between depressed and stress out. I have plenty of anxiety, but I'm not at all depressed.

So sweet of Mom to be so concerned! I know my Mom feels bad when she thinks I'm stressed (like yesterday.... she called as I was pulling out my hair at the toilet that had started leaking!!).

Congratulations to all of you! You all should be very proud of yourselves!

I have enjoyed working with all of you! I have cheered you when you PM'd me your losses and shared in your frustration when you had to post a gain!

It has been an honor to be your weightkeeper!!

I look forward to tracking your weights and goals in the next challenge. Keep up the great work :thumbsup2

You all did SO GREAT during this challenge! WTG!! And double congrats to Lisa for being our BIG LOSER!! Percent or pounds, you still did great!!

Great job to DS! Don't worry about coaching. Things are so quiet here with the holidays... I feel like we are doing fine just taking care of each other!

Sounds like a nice evening at MGM. I'm envious of you and others who live close and can just "pop in" any time! That is definitely a dream of mine!

I asked for a Bosu ball, but didn't realize how expensive they are. When I realized it, I asked people NOT to get it. Other than that I just asked for a renewal of my WW magazine subscription and maybe another magazine like Fitness (which I currently get for free, but it is due to expire).

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?

I"m not particularly familiar with the all of the different Santas and such that they do at Epcot. I think I'd really like the Santa in Germany, as I believe that St. Nick originated there. And I'd like to see the Santa in Norway.... DH is Swedish, so that would be reasonably close I suppose.

Interesting question!!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve friends! Believe it or not I actually braved it into a MALL today. DD needed to finish her shopping and wanted to hit the mall, much to my chagrin. It was crowded, but not insane, when we arrived about 11 am, but even WORSE by the time we left around 1:15. But she is DONE shopping and so am I. I was pretty well done, but we needed grab gifts for a last minute get-together next week, so I finished that up in Target.

DD has a swim meet tonight at 7pm, so I need to go have something to eat (missed lunch....just had a small salad a minute ago, but it won't be enough for the night), and then do some wrapping and get ready to head out.

I told myself that I would try hard to NOT miss a day on here over the holidays to help keep me on track. BTW, I was a samer today.... not exactly what I had hoped for, but pretty much what I anticipated with TOM here for a random visit (perimenopause.... so much fun....NOT!).

My parents are arriving tomorrow around 11 am. I think by then DD and I will have already been at the Y for a swim and workout. Then after lunch it will be time to finish wrapping and get ready for 4pm church. I will pop on to say hi and hopefully answer the QOTD (if there is one tomorrow). TTYL........P

Evening All!

We just ate dinner and my parents are getting ready to start making squid. They do one step first and then my sister, brother-in-law, and I join in the fun.

I've been working on some replies. Hopefully, the poof fairy stays away. :goodvibes

Tracey: Your parents are staying through Christmas, right? :confused3

Hi Jen! Thanks for the good wishes. I will know more when I get my test results. I am being tested for Celiac disease. I had allergy testing and was diagnosed with wheat and oats allergies. I felt so much better eating gluten-free; however, I have to be eating gluten in the weeks leading up to the test for the results to be accurate. Less than a week to go! :)

Guess I'll start tomorrow. After work and dinner, I decided to just sit and relax with my boys. I've been so busy running around and baking, I just needed a day of nothing.

I am a huge believer in making sure I take the time to relax! :thumbsup2

Donac: DS’s trip sounds so rewarding! It’s wonderful that he is taking the time to do such a wonderful thing for people.

I am all about food cultures and such, but that just sounds..... icky. Gla dyou enjoy it and nice that your parents are making you a special squid!

One more year of eating the same as everyone else, but next year, my meal will be gluten-free! :thumbsup2

We need a group trip to WDW just so we can all ride Soarin' together. Maybe CC would join us if we promised to hold her hand!??

I’m up to the challenge!

Morning friends! DD was MOST unpleasant when I had to wake her for swim practice this morning after just a mere 3 hours/45 minutes of sleep. :scared1: She did homework for a SOLID 7+ hours last night. I'm sorry, but that is just INSANE! What do these teachers expect?? And she had to miss swim practice AGAIN last night, which of course did NOT make her happy. I cannot WAIT for holiday break.... she needs it SO BADLY!

I know a 5th grader who spent hours doing homework. I finally insisted that she go to bed. I couldn’t believe how much time she spent during homework and hadn’t finished yet. I think she was on hour number four when I finally said, “BED.” (Granted, she had to read in bed for 30 minutes-homework- before she could turn off the lights. ;))

Wednesday QOTD: with less thn 4 days to go before Christmas, what one thing have you been putting off that you need to prioritize and get done today? I'm sure we all have those little things that we've put off thinking we'll get a minute soon, but soon never seems to get here.

Well, it’s Friday, and we still have wrapping to do. :rolleyes1

Hi Kathy! Hope you have a wonderful holiday too! :)

Jill: I know you are a special educator, but for which grades? It sounds like you teach a range of grades. :confused3

Shawn: Is everything all set for the holiday? I keep thinking about you as we are wrapping and wrapping and wrapping. :goodvibes

i was thinking it would be nice to make something yummy - a breakfast casserole perhaps?

do any of you have a breakfast casserole recipe?

i should probably make a nice dinner too...hmmm.....

I tend to make a mess out of casseroles. I much prefer boxed cinnamon crumb cake. They are carb heavy, but not so bad on fat. :goodvibes

Hi Sue! Thanks again for being our weightkeeper! :cool1:

I went to go pick up the picture calendar that I created for my in-laws and had printed at the store. The store was more out of my way because the closer one ran out of the supplies to print them. The ones I made for my mom and dad and my grandparents was delivered today also.

My cousin did this for my grandparents last year and they were on :cloud9:

You can do it, you can all do it :wizard:

Thank you! I needed this! :)

Morning all! Got a four hour stretch last night thanks to having hubby give a bottle around 4am. Being exhausted has made me turn to food and that needs to stop!!!

Hubby gets a

Holiday QOTD:Do you have matchy matchy paper or is it a free for all?

It is definitely a free for all in my house. Although, this year, I decided not to waste labels and everyone got a specific wrapping paper for their stocking stuffers.

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

If you were to go to Disney during the holidays would you decorate your room?

Probably, but I honestly don’t think I could handle the crowds at Christmastime. :sad2:

Today shouldn't be too busy. Mom has *finally* scheduled a hearing evaluation, so I'm going with her to that this afternoon. Hopefully I'll be able to sit outside the booth with the audiologist and observe!

I enjoyed hanging out with the audiologists who worked with the students with hearing loss when I did my master’s degree. It was really fascinating to see what they do, especially after having had my hearing tested so many times already. :cool1:

I have continued my Mom's tradition in wrapping in shiny foil paper. That is the only criteria. We have been using the same wrapping paper for years now it seems. We must have bought a bunch one year for a fundraiser at school. DH did the wrapping and informed me that we need to look for some paper on sale after the holidays. :santa:

That sounds like a beautiful tradition! :cool1:

Kristina: Glad you enjoyed your trips to DTD and HS! :)

Congrats to all the top 20 and especially to LISAH!!!!!!!!!

At the audiologist's today, it was confirmed that Mom does indeed have a mild-moderate hearing loss. Unfortunately, she can't afford hearing aids right now, and will probably have to wait 4 years to get them until I can get significant discounts. :rotfl: The audiologist was very nice though and even let me help out with looking in Mom's ears, running a test, and calculating some values. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your mom’s hearing loss. Unfortunately, hearing aids are so expensive. :goodvibes

Buffy: Thanks for coaching. I commend you for chaperoning a field trip. I made my sister do that once. It was a long day for all of us. :goodvibes

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Like Jen, I have some socks coming that I picked out, and my mom often picks up pants for me, so I may be getting more.

Disney Fluff Question of the day:

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?

Don’t evict me. I’ve never heard of this. :rolleyes1

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Yep, asked for some winter outdoor wear but I doubt I'll get it. Target has a really nice lightweight down type jacket.

If you could go or do go to Disney around the holidays, do you take part in the holiday Santa's from Epcot's World Showcase and if so, which one do you enjoy the most and why?
Yep, we go in Dec as often as we can and love the Santa's. I think our favorite is the Monkey King in China, he is very animated and the kids love him.

CC the field trip was easy. It's a 5 minute walk to the town library from the school and only 11 kids to shepard. We stay for an hour and have story time, a craft and sometimes a snack, then back to school for lunch. they do it every Thursday and the parents rotate weeks.

Good evening all. Today was busy. I had to take Mom to work so I could go to Target (:scared1:) to pick up some prescriptions for her and then to WalMart (:scared1::scared1:) to return some items for her. And then one of the items I tried to return wasn't even from there. :sad2:

When I came home, I was put in charge of wrapping all my brother's presents, and I made his CDs that I will be giving him. I'm still working on Mom's photo album but will finish that tomorrow. I finished vaccuming downstairs and did five loads of laundry. Need to do a sixth but that can wait. Have to go pick up Mom and my brother in a few minutes; he was supposed to come home tomorrow but is coming tonight instead. He and I are going to Grandma's tomorrow (I think). He likes to go spend time there, and I have to go with in case he has another seizure-which he hasn't since the last time I mentioned it.

The mortgage refi is underway, all presents are wrapped including the "important" ones. I've got Christmas dessert 2/3 finished. I just need to make the topping and get that on in time for it to chill. I may do that tonight. My eating has been really good as I can't stomach a lot and really am not craving sweets or food in general for that matter. My SIL made turkey tonight and when I ran some gift certificates over she made me a plate. I had turkey, mashed potato, corn and cranberry sauce. No gravy. Chris and the boys had mac and cheese and hotdogs so I feel much better about my much healthier meal.:cool1:

Tomorrow we'll go to my parent's house after lunch. We'll do their tree then Mom is making a complete Ham dinner for us all. Sunday we'll do apps here. It will be nice to just stay home and let the kids enjoy their gifts.

Did you ask Santa for anything health or fitness related for Christmas or did you buy anything health or fitness related for someone else that will join you on your weight loss/fitness journey? It so what was it?

Yes, I did--and I bought and wrapped a few long-sleeved wicking shirts a few weeks ago on sale for myself:rotfl2: DH supported it, he is encouraging me to get out and run in the cold this winter, but I despise the cold:scared1:

Holiday QOTD:Do you have matchy matchy paper or is it a free for all?

It's kind of a free for all. Funny story, for ds's K class we had to send in a wrapped gift for Santa to give him. He came home that day and loved his Santa gift, and said, "And guess what! Santa had the same wrapping paper as us!" :scared1::laughing:

Peace,

Hello everyone,
Today was a crazy day, but I did make it to the gym :goodvibes Tomorrow I am aiming to try Zumba at 9:00. Seeing as I'll be eating a ton the next 2 days I want to get my workouts in as much as possible.

Hi Gretchen,
That's one thing I love about Disney. There's a ton of walking. One of the reasons we like the Boardwalk is that we can avoid the long lines to the boat/buses and walk to either DHS or Epcot right from our resort.

I didn't really ask for anything for Christmas.

If we did WDW at Christmas we would certainly take in the Santa's and every other holiday event that we could fit in.

Here here, I am right with you :thumbsup2

Yep, I asked for new running socks (and since I bought them for myself....I know they will be in my stocking! :rotfl:) I also asked DH to buy me running items but to wait until the day after Christmas because our running store is having a huge sale that day. While it won't be under the tree, I will still be getting it. I am excited because today I ran in my skirt that is being held together with safety pins! ;)

DH and I went years ago at Christmas and did not do this. If I went again, I would totally do it and love it all! :thumbsup2

Hi Jen,
Now that's what I should have done. I'm somehow down to like 3 good pairs of socks. Maybe I'll find a good after holiday deal. Probably not on socks, but you never know :rotfl:

Happy Christmas Eve Eve friends! Believe it or not I actually braved it into a MALL today. DD needed to finish her shopping and wanted to hit the mall, much to my chagrin. It was crowded, but not insane, when we arrived about 11 am, but even WORSE by the time we left around 1:15. But she is DONE shopping and so am I. I was pretty well done, but we needed grab gifts for a last minute get-together next week, so I finished that up in Target.

You actually hit the mall :scared1: Just kidding. We drove around it trying to get to the movie theater in time. We took DS to see Arthur Christmas. It was actually a pretty good movie.

I know a 5th grader who spent hours doing homework. I finally insisted that she go to bed. I couldn’t believe how much time she spent during homework and hadn’t finished yet. I think she was on hour number four when I finally said, “BED.” (Granted, she had to read in bed for 30 minutes-homework- before she could turn off the lights. ;))

Wow, now that's dedication ;)

Hi Sue! Thanks again for being our weightkeeper! :cool1:

Hi CC :wave2:

You're welcome!

Don’t evict me. I’ve never heard of this. :rolleyes1

No evictions :rotfl2: I believe each country has it's own Santa. For example France has Pierre Noel in his typical French Christmas attire. Each country has a Santa and each Santa has a tradition or something. I think it would be neat to check out. It might be a little boring or above a 3 year old, so we'll see.

Oh, well then maybe DS will enjoy it :goodvibes

I hope everything goes well at Grandma's

Wow, you go :thumbsup2 Talk about being busy.

Hi Michele,
Good for you. I always end up starting my shopping off by buying myself a gift. It just always happens that way. Then I'm off like a shot gun.

Well everyone, I'm heading to bed. I'll check back in tomorrow morning before the gym. Night!

I seem to remember a Zumba game for the Wii - but it seems like a month ago I wrapped it. I did wrap it last month. LOL I need to dust off the presents before I put them under the tree.

I have been to Disney during December and I don't think I have heard of the Santa's?? I did do the CP one year and that was great.

My work detail ended Thursday night. I had such a great group of people working for me - I was bored stiff for the last two weeks. They needed no supervision. I went back to my building today, the man I work with (my work husband ;)) gave me some really nice gifts, pair of driving gloves, some Yankee Candles and a box of Godiva chocolate. When I brought them home, DH made a comment that the gentleman I work with had shopped more than DH had. LOL

I found out that the class I was to go to in a couple of weeks in Oklahoma was cancelled, to be rescheduled in late February or March. My boss asked me if I would be able to work days (Heck YES!!!!) to be involved with some upcoming projects. After working nights since 1987 - I have about had it. But on the flip side the idea of commuting into Boston during the morning rush isn't that appealing either.

DS is in 9th grade and just started wrestling. As some may remember he is small. He weighs about 93 pounds and is 5'5". But it's working for him - he is on the Varsity wrestling team and is close to earning his jacket. As long as he is able to keep his grades up, it's been a great experience for him. He has kyphosis (hunched back) and the Doctor says that as long as he isn't lifting weights, etc. it's a great sport for him.

The 2nd and 3rd floor of the house are spotless. It will only take about 30 minutes to clean the 1st and I am ready for company. We will be visiting a few of my aunts tomorrow and then have 20 for dinner on Christmas. I will start cooking tomorrow night. I will cook the sweet potatoes, squash, turnip, mix together the stuffing for the mushrooms, cook the pork roast for dinner. Make the whole wheat dinner rolls. So all we would have left for Christmas is cook the ham and turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and asparagus. Make soft dinner rolls. Throw the Holiday Brie and the stuffed mushrooms in the oven 1/2 hour before the guests arrive, This year I have to remember to defrost the shrimp - last year I forgot. I know I have forgotten something.

I really enjoyed peoples pictures of their trees. I will try to post a picture of mine. The rate the needles are falling off - I better take the picture quick.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. Look for the new 2012 BL No Excuses Challenge thread soon after. I will be searching for coaches, and a co-hostess for one of the team threads.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone.

Had a busy day yesterday. I went grocery shopping, cooked the meatballs and sausage, made homemade pizza for dinner, and dh finished wrapping the presents.

Today I have to make an apple pie, pick up the platters for today and tomorrow, get presents organized to take with us.

We are going to go up to my parents this afternoon. We can't leave too early since they live right near the stadium where the jets and giants play. This game may also delay Christmas. My bil is a real jet fanatic. If they lose he may not make it(yes it has happened for a Sunday dinner). We will be home about 9 tonight.

Tomorrow I have to make an another apple pie and a pumpkin pie. Then I have to reheat the meatballs and sausage, and get the cheese and pepperoni tray set and pack for the transport. If I get home early enough tonight I may make the pies.

Today is pretty easy. Tomorrow is the tough day. Dh and ds's willl help out so it will work out.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Again Merry Christmas

Good morning everyone and a very Merry Christmas Eve to all!!

It's been a busy week, but I've stayed pretty low stress. My antique cell phone died and that stressed me out to add a trip to the verizon store on the to-do list, but it all worked out, and now I can actually text.:rotfl: I try not to stress and just enjoy the holidays but once in a while it gets to you. Today is my busy day, lots of cooking and cleaning to finish up and we have the whole family over tonight. I'll leave the cleaning til last, and then if I run out of time, I'll have a drink and figure the house is clean enough.:rotfl:

Thanks to all the coaches this week! It's great to see such an active thread during such a busy holiday time. We have a pretty low key Christmas morning, so I hope to read back properly and catch up with all of you here.

Congratulations Lisa!!:cool1: Our biggest loser!!! I am so happy for you, and you, too Never Give Up and you are shining this year!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!!:santa::hug:
