Biggest Loser Alumni Holiday Edition: past, present and future participants welcome!

We just started our home improvement goals last year! So far we have repainted most of the rooms, replaced the carpeting with high quality laminate, laid tile in the entryway and back door, replaced the dishwasher and kitchen sink. We're currently putting in the baseboards and crown molding.

So much to do still, and then we move to the kitchen and bathroom! Wish we moved faster, but its a very piecemeal operation.

I find home improvement to be so expensive. I try to do a room or two each year. We have redone our floors in laminate too. This year I built a pantry/closet in the empty space above our cellar stairs. I cannot tell you how much room that gave us. I can actually put everything away now. I also redid our room, paint, mural, blinds, baseboards, linens, slipcovers and upholstered the bookshelf. It looks totally awesome. I'm still in awe everytime I walk into my beach getaway. We also replace our washer, dryer, dishwasher and trash compactor. I'm hoping to find time later this winter to strip the wallpaper off the bathroom walls and paint in there. I replaced the countertop and sink a couple of years ago, but the wallpaper is original to the house 11 years ago.

I just lost my post. I will try again after work. Got to run now, but I do want to say have a great day today everyone!

CC

Kathy, Thanks for the welcome. Control & support are what I need. With some accountability thrown in.

It was very cold while were at Disney. But hey, we were at Disney!:cool1:

CC--sorry you lost your post!

Checked the weather this morning. We should be able to get out of here, I think. Light snow and rain. Cincy is calling for light snow. Fingers crossed that the forecasters are right! We have a couple of cool days while we're there, but a couple of warm days as well. I just want to see the sun for a bit!:goodvibes

Have a great day!

I'm sure some of the meal sounds gross to some of you. I don't think I've yet met a person outside of my family who eats this.
How did this tradition start? That's a really cool thing to have as a meal. I love fried calamari, so maybe...... Just the visuals.. EEEK!!

I don't want to give up the extra money as the full time job has good benefits, but the money isn't terrific. Waitress/Bartending money adds up much quicker, but no benefits and since we need both the benefits and the money I'm just going to do both until we climb out of debt.
I am so impressed with your stamina and determina Deb! (And your home improvement skills!)

Just a quick note to let everyone know we made it home last night. Travel was tough as always but uneventful.
Glad it was uneventful! Thanks for stopping in, had your travels on my mind!!!

5 full shopping days left and then I get to breathe. If anybody would like me to re-post the shopping rules here, just let me know:rotfl2:
Can you add do not wait until the week of Christmas to go shopping?

Taryn--I don't know when you leave, but I wanted to make sure to say--have a fabulous time at HHI!:goodvibesToday I got a new bikini top at Target (yes, there is snow on the ground but my top from the spring would have fallen off if I tried to wear it next week.:thumbsup2)
I am sure you will look fabulous!!!!!! Have a WONDERFUL trip. Your gifts from DS do sound thoughtful!! That's an impressive trait for a male to have at Christmas!!! We're not leaving until the 29th, not sure when you are coming home, hope we get to chat before we leave!

First chance I've had to get on today. I just spent the last 5 hours baking 5 different kinds of cookies. We had our church Christmas pageant this morning. It was so much fun! DD2 stole the whole show as the Christmas Star!
So cute! That's a lot of baking! Do you give them as gifts or use them for your family?

Just a short note to say hello. I think we are almost done shopping except for the group in KC. We can't decide what to send them.
Having to ship gifts is tough. Brad's aunt in Texas always sends us money orders!
Another fairly productive day here. Baked our gingerbread men, and michael got into it with me, so it was fun. all I really need to do is enjoy the company of my family and friends, and if I don't get all I want done before Christmas eve, it doesn't matter. So I enjoyed his visit, and on christmas eve, what's done is done, and I will relax and enjoy myself.
Yesterday morning when I realized that at that point, all would be "over" except the cleaning in one week, I came to the same realization! So yesterday morning while we were getting ready for church, I turned up the Christmas music. Sophie and I did a little jig to Baby it's cold outside, then the girls and I danced around to Believe by Josh Groban from Polar Express. It was one of those times where no one was stressed, DH even put on a Santa hat. He thanked me later, said it helped allieviate the mood. Just kinda living in the moment... You are VERY wise, Kathy!

Taryn--please say hi to Ann and Jennz from me! I am still resisting facebook, but might break down and do it after Christmas. My plan is to get up at 3:30 and be out the door by 4:00. Our plane takes off at 6:00.
All of my friends from hs and college are on FB, and lots of cousins that I love and live across the country. It's been a great way to keep up. We're kind of a weird little community, we share on FB even though we work together, etc. We talk at school about what we posted on FB the night before.. LOL. Plus, I got really close to a group that were all planning trips in July 09 on here, and keep on FB. Some of those people have turned into lifelong friends..... Hope you come home to all ready and done today!

I love an excuse to spend more time on the computer.;) Sunday 12/19/10- The holidays are full of traditional foods, many not conducive to weight loss. Is there anything that you serve or bring to you holidays celebrations that help keep you on track a little bit for that day?
:lmao: at the bolded part.
And honestly, NO! We do Christmas Eve at Brad's parents. She always has me make sausage balls, but has a feast of other stuff. Menu for mom's varies year to year, so we just wing it. My brother insists on a ham, but otherwise we like to have "fun food" as I call it with veggie trays, snacks, etc. Very non-traditional, but fun. Basically, I guess the biggest thing that keeps me on track a bit for that day is that we pack up lots of leftovers from both places and take them to HHI. It keeps me from over indulging on that day, but then it just hangs around....:rotfl:

I totally agree with BOTH of those statements!!
It's nice to be validated. :lmao:

Like a lot of people, I feel that weight loss, WW, and/or the BL thread is just a way of life. I try to follow most of the time, so I can enjoy myself when I go on vacation and around the holidays. If I didn't give myself time to cheat I'd never be able to keep it up.
I think in the long run, that's the key thing there, for me anyway. I am NOT where I want to be yet. I have learned so much about myself in this journey, and part of that is that I am an all or nothing person. Meaning, if I'm good, I'm good and if I'm bad, I'm horrid. I have to have the mental focus to be good, and during the holidays/vacations I'm not mentally focused on weight loss. If I can maintain or come out with a small gain during these times, then I can get back to the "nothing" mentality and refocus when it's all said and done.

Sorry for the argument with DH. I think the whole manly/provider thing really hits them hard when it isn't going right. And instead of saying "wow, this sucks!" like we do, they get cranky about it. Had to :lmao: about Christmas Story. I can take it or leave it, too, but the menfolk in my house love it.I think I finally inspired by DH to get himself back into shape. :yay: He signed up for the gym and has been twice this week and he's agreed to try the new WW with me.
He did admit that it really bothered him not be able to go get something for dinner for his family, shower us with gifts for Christmas, etc. I tried very hard to convince him that A. we don't need to be going out to eat, B. we don't need stuff, C. none of that matters.

I once got down to 134 a few years ago, but felt sickly thin and my friends said I was too skinny, so I set 145 as my goal the last time around and decided I'd assess my situation when I got there and maybe go for 140.I've never been terribly over weight, but I am a HUGE foodie, and many of my plans/vacations center around great food.
We're foodies, too, which makes this sooo much harder! Sounds like you have your goals and reality well set!!!

My name is Sunny and I'm 44. I've been married to Thomas for 22 years, we have two children, Jen 25 and Drew 20.
Welcome!!!! I will say this, you've come to the right place for motivation. I wouldn't be half as successful without this group of friends!! As for keeping up, you'll be fine. I'll admit that it moves kinda fast in the beginning of a challenge, and it's hard to keep up, but just do the best you can! DO NOT GIVE UP because you can't KEEP up. Read every day, even if you don't post. The motivation will keep you going until you can post!

Me too!! I looove interesting food and enjoy fine dining immensely. We just started getting into wine last year, and with the help of wine.woot.com we have quite a collection now. Of course, none of these things will help with my current weight loss goals, but it sure is FUN.
I love wine, but Dh hates it. I have a goal to educate myself more. Might have to check out that website... Fine dining is DEFINITELY out of the budget right now, we're in a bit (well BIG) crunch, but I love to watch it on tv.:lmao:

I find home improvement to be so expensive.
When we bought our DVC last year, it was that or home improvement. I have to keep reminding myself of that when I look at the carpet I hate, the couch I hate, the wallpaper I hate, etc. etc. etc.:lmao:

Yesterday was sooo busy! We took up money at church for the 2 families I mentioned last week that lost everything in the fire, I was so excited that my teeny tiny church managed to collect $900. DH and a friend's DH that lived across from them set up an account for them at the local grocery store, and took cards to them. This way, they don't have to worry about food while they are getting the donations of furniture/clothes/etc, and they have been getting a lot of that stuff, thankfully. Then we had the Christmas play at church last night. It was sweet! Santa came at the end, and Sophie was so excited. She was the first to tell him what she wanted!!!

Wanted to share the pics. Click on them if you want to see them bigger!

The girls with Santa: (Notice Ak has on her "boyfriend's" phiten necklace even then. Sheez.

Today is my annual "Take mom shopping day!" :scared1: I usually take a day off in December and we go, I have for years, but this year with the snow, I couldn't take a day w/ all I had to do at work, and the roads were too bad when we were off! I hate that it is this late, but I am hoping we have a good time. I have a few more things to get, but helping her make decisions will take all of my mental focus!!!!:lmao:

BRB with QOTD.

Why are you giving up milk? It is soo beneficial in a number of ways health wise and weight wise I can't ever imagine giving it up short of Dr's orders:confused3

Milk isn't as healthy as many people think. Its loaded with fats and sugars, and the proteins are particularly difficult for our bodies to process. Fact is, cows milk is meant for baby cows - and the dairy lobby is one very powerful group.

What kind of cookies did you make? We're going to make gingerbread either today or tomorrow - my favorite part is icing them. The designs take on a life of their own.

We had a really nice walk - did about two miles around the neighborhood! We live in IL, so the weather was a balmy 33 degrees. ;)

It sure is spendy! Thats a big reason we are doing it ourselves, because I just cannot justify the added expense of having someone else do it. Your projects are impressive, and you sound like you have a very lovely home. Hope you'll write about your wallpaper removal - our kitchen has wallpaper, and it will need to come down when we start working in there.

Today I have a mountain of laundry to tackle. My son is home for winter break and brought all his dirty clothes! I have cookies on my todo list and shopping for our Yule meal, which is coming up fast. Today I will crack out the wii- just picked up "Walk it Out" and look forward to trying it.

Just a quick hello and good morning before I hop in the shower. I'm going to work early so I got to get ds up and moving in a minute. He can't miss the bus or I'll be late, and we've been lazy in our mornings lately and I've driven him a lot. I'll be out of work early which will be nice since we have a cub scout pack meeting and we'll have time for supper before that. We are walking to the town square to Christmas carol at the big tree for a few songs, and then we'll go to an elderly housing complex nearby. It should be nice. Then we go back for cookies and cocoa.

Taryn- Your angels are absolutely beautiful. Good luck shopping today, and remember Maureen's rules, and don't go pulling any shelves down if they don't have what you want.

Have a magical monday!!

Morning again! I'm Taryn, and I'll be your coach today! Taking mom shopping around 10, don't know when we'll be home, but I'll do my best!

I just lost my post. I will try again after work. Got to run now, but I do want to say have a great day today everyone!
Sorry your post got lost! I hope you have a great day, too, CC squid lady!

Control & support are what I need. With some accountability thrown in.l1:
We'll be right here for you every step of the way!

Checked the weather this morning. We should be able to get out of here, I think. Light snow and rain. Cincy is calling for light snow. Fingers crossed that the forecasters are right! We have a couple of cool days while we're there, but a couple of warm days as well. I just want to see the sun for a bit!:
Hope you can soak up lots of Vitamin D!!!! I was thinking about you guys while I was listening to the weather just a second ago!

Since we've been sharing our food traditions, and the time is near, our QOTD is of a sentimental, introspective, perspective place. Not centered around weight loss or maintenance, but hopefully a chance to think about why we go through all the stress that can sometimes lead to stress eating, binging, unhappiness, lack of sleep, and lots of other things that keep us from being healthy. If you don't celebrate the holidays, I am very sorry and hope I don't offend you.

QOTD Monday, December 20th: What are your family's most important holiday traditions? If everything else fell apart, what what matter most about the month of December to you?

Here's my own list:
1. Tree farm and parade on first Sat. of December
2. Singing "getting nuttin' for Christmas and Santa Claus is coming to town" to our kids when they are misbehaving
3. Pulling out the ornaments and reliving the memories attached to each one.
4. Kids looking for Elf on the Shelf each morning
5. Holding 2 girls 7 feet in air to put star on the tree.
6. Watching Chrismas Vacation and Charlie Brown Christmas with egg nog and popcorn!
7. Christmas play and candlelight service at church
8. Getting Christmas cards from friends and family
9. Going to MIL and FIL on Christmas Eve and watching their excitement when the family opens gifts. Putting out the reindeer food when we get home, putting on Mickey Christmas pj's, milk and cookies for Santa, and convincing the girls that Santa won't come if they aren't asleep. Our local tv has a "Santa radar" that shows where he is, and the race to fall asleep before he gets to VA is priceless!
10. Playing Santa! ;)
11. My cup of coffee and morning introspection on Christmas morning before I wake the family up. My Daddy, his Daddy, his daddy, his daddy, his daddy, etc. always went outside and shot a shotgun 3 times on Christmas morning, (very rural area, promise). (this represented the fulfillment of the Trinity). My brother continues this tradition now. I think about all the Christmas past, talk to Daddy a bit, and what Christmas means to me.
12. Setting up the cameras, turning on the Christmas music and tree lights, waking up the kids, singing Happy Birthday to Jesus, and then watching my girls faces light up as they unwrap their own equivalents of "Red Rider BB gun", the thing they have been longing for, and savoring the moments. :cloud9:
13. Wrapping up the season with bonding time at HHI for NYE!!!!

Now, I remember why I am taking my mom shopping today! Guess I need to add our girls' day out to this list? :lmao: And the funny thing is, other than Santa and the reindeer's snacks, nothing centers aroud the food. So then, food should not be an issue, right?:rotfl:

Have a wonderful day! I hope you can take the time to at least think about your list, even if you don't have time to share it. In the hustle and bustle of this week, sometimes a little sentimentality is good! Be good to your bodies today, drink your water, move, fuel your bodies but don't clog your engines, and BE HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!
Taryn:hug:

What kind of cookies did you make? We're going to make gingerbread either today or tomorrow - my favorite part is icing them. We had a really nice walk - did about two miles around the neighborhood! Today I have a mountain of laundry to tackle. I have cookies on my todo list and shopping for our Yule meal, which is coming up fast. Today I will crack out the wii- just picked up "Walk it Out" and look forward to trying it.

Beautiful picture!!!! So glad you enjoyed your walk! Have fun with your gingerbread men, my girls are doing that with their Nana while I take mom shopping today. Hoping you can climb the mountain of laundry and knock out that shopping! Let us know what you think about the wii game!

We are walking to the town square to Christmas carol at the big tree for a few songs, and then we'll go to an elderly housing complex nearby. Then we go back for cookies and cocoa. Taryn- Your angels are absolutely beautiful. Good luck shopping today, and remember Maureen's rules, and don't go pulling any shelves down if they don't have what you want.
Sounds like a GREAT evening!!!!!!! Thanks, their halos are usually crooked, tarnished, or missing all together, but I love them. And since Mom HAS NO IDEA what she wants to buy anyone, the only thing in danger of being pulled is my hair!!!!!

taryn--those little angels were so cute--necklace and all.;) Have fun shopping.

tracey--forgot to tell you, loved your story about your little "star.":goodvibes

Kathy--what a great day you have planned!

QOTD--well, we go on vacation at Christmas a lot!;) We always make peanut butter cookies with a hershey kiss in the middle. We didn't have time this weekend, so we are going to do it when we get home. And Tom wants stuffing and mashed potatoes, again. We used to read the polar express every year on Christmas Eve but haven't done that for several years.

Ok, I was killing time until I could put my second coat of nail polish on. Time to get going!

Have a good day!

This is what we made for cookies: Nestle Crunch Snowballs, a few sugar cookies, lime spritz cookies, peppermint meltaways, and chocolate mint dreams! I love peppermint, can't you tell!

I use the cookies as gifts for the kids teachers since we care not supposed to give them gift cards, etc. We can give gifts to the class but not specifically to the teacher!

Today I have to bake cupcakes for DD2s party at school tomorrow and make the chocolate candies with the molds. I also plan on wrapping this morning while DH does his shopping in Nashua. Going to watch a few movies while I do that. I watched A Christmas Carol and Mamma Mia while I baked yesterday and then put on Christmas music. I also am so far behind on podcasts that I should listen to some of those too. Still trying to catch up from vacation. Working tomorrow and Thursday so I really need to get all this stuff done today. Also trying to make sure DD1 is completely caught up plus she has dancing and basketball tonight.

Almost time to head to the bus. Then I'll come home and start the cupcakes. I also need to pack up DD2s teacher cookies in their containers. I bought little plastic containers at the Dollar store. Works great for the treats. I love to do the baking it's just the cleaning up that I don't like! I got the kitchen cleaned up last night and unloaded the dishwasher this morning. I hope to get in a workout. I slept in this morning due to a sore throat last night that I still have and the fact we stayed up to watch the end of the Patriots game! It was painful but at least they won!

TTFn :tigger:

I'll treat myself to coming back here once I get everything done!:santa:

Flipflopmom - I'll TRY and keep up, but I will continue to read if I get lost. I do need to decide what my plan of attack is, but that will have to wait about a week. I'm still not done shopping.

Octoberbride03 - I would love to see the shopping rules. When my kids were little, we made rules for everything.

On the fourth day of the holiday challenge my true love gave to me . . . four motivating words, three sets of ten, two exercise gloves and a big glass of water for me!:santa:

Sue, it will be busy for you soon with tax season -- even year end is busy. I've started several new corporations this week for clients. I always persuade them to switch as the end of the quarter if not at year end. We'll be glad to see you whenever you can pop in! :goodvibes

Can't wait to get started, hope I can keep up.

This is a great group and don't worry about keeping up -- just hop in where we are! :thumbsup2

CC, you're holiday dinner sounds like a true labor of love! :santa:

Shawn, so glad that you had a safe trip! :thumbsup2 We will be chatting here until 1/1 when we migrate to our team threads.

Evening everybody

5 full shopping days left and then I get to breathe. If anybody would like me to re-post the shopping rules here, just let me know:rotfl2: No new ones to add at the moment but if i come across any I'll post it.

Maureen, I loved the shopping rules! :santa:

Rose, have a safe and happy trip! :santa:

Tracey, loved the story about your sweet Christmas star! :goodvibes

We still have to wrap but dh hates to do that too early:confused3

Maybe it's left over from those days when the boys would fiddle with the packages once they were under the tree? :santa:

The cards are in the mail!!! Did I win? ;)

Oh yeah, you won hands down! :cool1:

Deb, sending you a  for your two busy days this week!

Tauwillow, your neighborhood looked like a beautiful place for a walk. :goodvibes

QOTD Monday, December 20th: What are your family's most important holiday traditions? If everything else fell apart, what what matter most about the month of December to you?

Taryn, love the little angels. :littleangel:

I'm thinking that AK's relationship may last longer than normal since they are apart over the holidays. That might explain a bit of DH's crankiness, too. ;)

Some of our important holiday traditions are the decorating of the Disney tree, driving around to see Christmas lights, and, of course, the dressing up of the cat and dog on Christmas morning. :santa:

Have a great day all!

Hi and Good Morning
Just jumping in here.

QOTD Monday, December 20th: What are your family's most important holiday traditions? If everything else fell apart, what what matter most about the month of December to you?

Some traditions have change over the years with losses of different loved ones, so the Most important thing is just being able to be together and creating new memories.
Our favorite holiday activities include: cooking together, (my 3 daughters and I) decorating and wrapping presents always with Christmas music and watching Christmas movies.

Good Morning all!

I missed the entire weekend due to a nasty virus in my house. My kids woke up Friday night/Saturday early morn vomiting! It was the first time either DS5 or DD3.5 ever threw up. It repeated all night long. I spent Saturday nursing them back to health only to start it myself just about bedtime. And thus spent a second night in the bathroom!

Anyhow I'm on the mend and actually kind of motived to do three sets of ten!

QOTD Monday, December 20th: What are your family's most important holiday traditions? If everything else fell apart, what what matter most about the month of December to you?

Since we have a young family I'm working to make traditions for our OWN family (versus with my Mom or the In Laws). We have declared Christmas morning for our family only. Kids can open their presents, we can have breakfast together, DH & I both do sound at church so that always factors in.
We host our parents for dinner Christmas evening.

The kids have been asking all morning to put up Christmas decorations. Our tree is up, so I keep asking what decorations they want. :confused3 I mean I have several tubs of decorations, but seriously with 2 little ones I don't feel the need to put out every piece of Christmas crystal and porcelain knick knacks. I told them we'll hang the stockings - I'm holding off as long as possible on those because we use stocking hangers which just set on the fireplace. I keep envisioning DS pulling on a stocking and the brass holder crashing down on DDs head. This happened last summer with a potted philodendron.

Ok - off to attempt to make the kids eat breakfast.

See you all later!

I'm stealing this! :rotfl: This is definitely what matters the most to us at this moment.

Hi everyone! Just dropping in to catch up on posts and put up my own update. Saturday was great, eating went well, water went well, and we were out and about all day, so I got plenty of exercise. Sunday....not so well , but today is another day and I've already started off on the right foot! Unfortunately we'll see how yesterday faired on the scale today.

Off to do my lunch run! For once I'm excited b/c Friday's run went great!

Hi everyone. I should start with an intro first....My name is Jeanette, 28, recently engaged as of December 4th. This is my third and final yo-yo weight loss attempt. The fall challenge was my first challenge. I have been actively working towards weightloss since April, but was conscious about it since January. I started at 180, now Im down to 125 (or 127 if Ive been bad:rolleyes1). Im feeling good and happy, I think I might try to go down towards 120. What really helped was learning that my caloric intake is lower than the average person because Im on the shorter side. The healthy habbit challenges also helped boost my weight loss :cool1:. I work full time and go to school full time (Im in a PhD program). I am also planning a wedding full time. I hope you all dont mind if I post stuff about the wedding since that is the biggest thing on my mind.

Welcome to everyone that is new! You will definitely love being part of this group.

Sooo, on to the wedding stuff...Im finally getting my ring back today!!! Im so excited. Its been more than two weeks. While getting my ring, Im going to stop by my childhood church and get more info about having my wedding there.

Have lots to do, but I'll be back later with replies.

What beautiful angels you have. I love the pics. I got a chuckle out of AK wearing the necklace.:lmao: I hope you have a good day with your mama.

We are walking to the town square to Christmas carol at the big tree for a few songs, and then we'll go to an elderly housing complex nearby. It should be nice. Then we go back for cookies and cocoa.

That sounds like a very nice evening. I heard some carolers with instruments in the distance when I was running yesterday and was hoping they would come by our house but no luck.

QOTD Monday, December 20th: What are your family's most important holiday traditions? If everything else fell apart, what what matter most about the month of December to you?

This is probably going to get long since we have so many traditions to carry on. Sorry!

Weeks Prior
1. Black Friday shopping at 3am with my mom, lunch together, then the tree lighting ceremony in our downtown area.

2. 2-3 wks before xmas...going to the tree farm and cutting down our tree, taking it home and decorating it.....talking about the memories attached to each ornament.

3. xmas party at work (always so much fun)

4. letting the boys stay up to watch all of the xmas shows on tv. Eating popcorn and turning off all the lights in the house while we cuddle up and watch together.

5. Finding elf on the shelf every morning, helping the boys open their chocolate advent calendars, and updating our count down santa.

6. christmas play at church

7. Baking cookies....I have to admit this year I bought the break apart ones:lmao: Im running out of time.

xmas eve
1. christmas music all day!!! Pizza for dinner!
2. church
3. Santa stops early to leave xmas PJ's while we are at church (Taryn this year theirs are mickey too);)
4. hanging the stockings
5. My dh reading twas the night before xmas ( my dad did this for me until I was 18):rolleyes1
6. Writing santa a letter and leaving milk and cookies.
7. Sprinkling reindeer food on the lawn
8. hanging the magic key on the door for santa (we dont have a chimney so how else would he get in.:confused3)
9. Calling Santa (my mom sends the boys letters through a company that gives a 1-800 # to call and santa gives updates. The last call he says Im almost there so hurry to bed). Its fun to watch the kids race up the stairs.
10. Playing Santa and feeling so blessed seeing the presents under the tree.
11. Leaving Santa's magic foot prints on the living room carpet (did this for the first time last year and the kids went crazy in the morning.)
12. Cuddling in bed with my dh and watching a christmas story.

xmas day
1. getting woke up by my kids bright and early.
2. playing xmas music, getting the camera ready and catching their faces when they see the tree and all the presents.
3. opening gifts
4. Go to my parents for breakfast and gifts. (more traditions but I wont bore you)
5. Go to my nana's where my whole family gathers. Exchange gifts and eat.
6. Head home, get into comfy jammies, kids play with all thier new things
7. inlaws come over...more gifts and food.
8. Relax and the past two years we played Wii.

Gosh I am exhausted just writing this all. Now I cant imagine why I am so tired by the end of the night.:rotfl2:

Taryn you honestly either 1. are not going to believe me or 2. think I am totally crazy but I am coaching on xmas eve and my question was going to be Name your favorite holiday family tradition.:lmao:

I will apologize in advance if I am not on here much in the next few days. I have off next week so I am trying to prepare for that at work, and I still have to wrap everything, clean my house, and make food/cookies. So I am a bit busy. Just wanted to check in and let you know I am good. My cold is getting better and I ran 5 miles yesterday at my usual 12min/mile pace.

I hope you all are enjoying your day. I have to say I think I might be finally in the christmas spirit.:goodvibes

QOTD: We all wear our Santa hats on Christmas morning. One person is in charge of handing out the gifts. On Christmas Eve we read Twas the Night Before Christmas to the kids. Santa leaves their stockings in their rooms so when they get up they can look inside. There has been a Webkinz peeking out of the top the last few years. Sometimes the girls get into bed together and wait for DH and myself to wake up. We then gather onour bed to open our stockings all together. I then come out and put the tree on. The girls have to wait until I have the camera ready to take their picture as they see the tree the first time with all of their gifts under it. We have quiche and some kind of muffins for breakfast. I just got my order from TS today so I will make the cinnamon muffin melts.

This year it will be the 4 of us and DSIL so we will probably hang around in our jammies and watch the movies we get and play the Wii and DSi games the girls get.

DH makes his mom's Christmas pudding every year too. He will also be making prime rib and we will have the traditional dressing, green bean casserole and potatoes and carrots. I will also be making peppermint stick ice cream pie!

Having a bit of snow this afternoon. I picked DD1 up at school as she called and said her tummy hurt. Hopefully DD2 can go to school tomorrow. I made all the cupcakes and frosted them. I will drive her to school and bring them in.

Back to cleaning. I really want to make the candy molds but not sure if I will have the time. DD1 still has dancing and basketball tonight.

Thanks for starting this thread - I love that all alumni and future participants were also invited. :)

 Hi everyone, I'm Nicole. I am 29 and married with a 2 year old son.
Hi, I'm Nicole, age 29, married with one kid too! Mine is a 3yo daughter. :)
I started in late spring 2009 with the BL challenges. I lost about 20 pounds and got a lot more fit. I ran the Princess half marathon earlier this year. I joined the maintainer team. I kind of fizzled out on this last challenge, though. Between working OT, travel and injury - my November wasn't so good. But I'm back on track, determined to maintain over the holidays, and hopefully lose a few of those pounds that crept back on.

Traditions for Christmas have been shifting - as a young family, we're trying to establish our own traditions but as we have no family in MN, we always go back to NJ on Christmas. Baking/decorating cookies, listening to Christmas music, and reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" are standards. This year I started doing more things at home with our 3yo DD - advent calendars, putting up a tree, letting her pick out a new ornament or two.
