Happy Monday Everyone!

Still snowing here We have over a foot so far and it's a picture perfect wonderland.
Christmas was a blessing filled with many family moments that I Truly Treasure.

QOTD, Monday, December 27: With New Year's right around the corner, do you have a resolution that you'd like to share and if so, does it involve the next BL challenge?

One of my New Year's resolution is to be able to keep up with the BL Challenge thread/s I need to read and respond daily to keep on track.

Well off to make some Vegetable Barley Soup for the shovelers out there
stay well and safe :flower3:

We had a great Christmas here with my parents. It was a rather low-key day with no traveling and no other company. It was super relaxing and I stayed in my pajamas all day!! We had a nice breakfast together, but mid-day food was kind of a "help yourself" (we had a nice Christmas eve sit-down dinner, thanks to my Mom).

Yay for a nice relaxing Christmas. How is your DH doing?

Thanks for being our coach today, Sue! :flower3: I'm sure that you'll do a great job!

I have two goals right now: one, train for the Princess on 2/27 so I can see my BL friends who will be there! :yay: princess: and two, be in ONE-derland when I get there! :woohoo: I can do it but I have to really stick to it!

You're welcome! Good luck to everyone doing the Princess. I've never been into running, so :worship: to all of you that can do it.

Today is our day of cleaning. Spent 2 hrs on the boys rooms/closets and the LR. Now I still have the kitchen and laundry. Sorry to hear about your poor tree. and the carpet:scared1: Our weather forecast is also the mid 40's for thur-sun. I never have been so excited for 40 degree weather.:lmao: I hope you have some warm days for your trip too. A run along the beach sounds lovely.

I always say I am going to eat better, exercise more, spend wisely, etc. Its usually the same thing every year. This year I think I stuck to it better than previous years and 2011 should be no different. I really want to rock the next challenge so I am as fit as can be for the princess.princess:

We cleaned a bit today again too. We may try to go see Narnia this afternoon at 4:15.

I found that joining this thread was a great motivator for me.

Today's qotd- I'm not big on resolutions either, but this year with the princess looming, I am making one. One is to stick with ww and track my food, and in doing so I know I can lose 10 pounds by the princess which will bring me back to One-derland, so that is my resolution. Also, I will continue with my training so I will be able to walk after the princess.:rotfl: Gotta get back to epcot for that margarita. It's a little more real now that Christmas is over, that is the next big thing. I started to peruse the planning board, and since it's vacation week, looks like it will be busier than we're used to, so we should make some more plans. We don't usually park hop, but think it might be a good idea. We'll see.

Sue- I was showing my sil this thread the other day, and hope she may join us for the spring challenge, but what she said was, " oh, so this is like your facebook." and I think that is true. It's nice to have a place to come and visit and socialize every day, isn't it?

Best of luck with the WW. Any particular margarita in mind? The pics from the new Cave look great. I think there's a blood orange one and a margarita sampler there. The new Mexican place also looks like it has a few tasty margaritas on the menu.

You know what? I think she may be right. Another reason for me to not join FB :lmao:

QOTD: My resolution is to maintain! Of course I have to get back to my low weight after the holidays. Hoping to start the EASA2 today. I will get some exercise shoveling in a bit. Very congested this morning! DD1's cough is horrible Still got the rash but not as bad. We'll just keep her on the benadryl. Wind is still blowing and it's still snowing. Not getting as much as originally expected but that's fine with us. We're hoping the wind dies down so we can get out the snow blower. Not worth it to do it when it's so windy.

Best of luck maintaining. Hope DD1 starts feeling better

One of my New Year's resolution is to be able to keep up with the BL Challenge thread/s I need to read and respond daily to keep on track.

Hi there, where do you live in Mass? Hope you do well with the next challenge. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the posts, but it's worth it :goodvibes

Anyone try the new pumpkin vita tops yet? I haven't been able to find them :confused3

Just I quick pop in to say hi and that unofficially I PASSED ALL 3 TESTS!!!!

I couldn't be happier.

Thanks for all the support during the fall challenge and the prayers while I was awaiting my results! :)

I of course, cannot wait for the results to arrive in the mail so they are final.

Today was okay. Not the best day in regards to eating, but it could have been worse. I know I was stress eating a lot. :headache:

Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

Congrats CC!!!! That's great news to get over the holidays!!!!

Just played a marathon game of Disney Apples to Apples and we're watching Fantasia! Hoping the girls go to bed early! DH and I are both exhausted! We were napping earlier today when my mom and dad called. Got about a foot of snow total! Hoping DH and I can watch Waking Sleeping Beauty tonight. Not sure if there is anything else on tonight. Sorry I'm rambling! Just wiped from Christmas and shoveling today!

TTFN :tigger:

Good morning, everyone! I am back to post the QOTD then I am looking forward to responding to posts.

QOTD, Sunday, December 26: Did you receive a "gift" for the holidays this year that will make your "getting fit" journey easier? Maybe it was a new-found motivation or an actual tangible item. Please share!

Good morning fellow losers and maintainers :) I will be your coach today. This is new for me, so I apologize in advance if I do something wrong. Let's start off the morning.

QOTD, Monday, December 27: With New Year's right around the corner, do you have a resolution that you'd like to share and if so, does it involve the next BL challenge?

First I have to say is WOW this is a fast moving thread. how in the world do you guys keep up, let alone post repsonses! My hats off to you guys!:thumbsup2

For Christmas I got the 2 new BL DVD's. I LOVE the power walk one. I just did mile 1 tonight and I LOVE it. it is more intense than WOTP DVD's, and it feels like a good exercise so far for me.

And I am debating about my new years resolutions. I want to use my time more wisely (i.e. not sit in front of the TV all night long!;)). And in that I want to scrapbook and get caught up with putting away all of my photos and scrapbooking all of our trips I've been waiting to do. I also am going to do the BL challenge at my DH's work. AND PLAN TO WIN! I did it 2 years ago, and won the challenge, and I am going to join next time again. I'm debating about joining WW again to help this succeed. I do want to loose weight, but I don't know about putting up a number, we'll see. AND I WANT TO FINALLY EARN MY BLACKBELT!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Princess Vija- I bought the BL Power Walk but haven't had time to try it yet. Maybe I'll try it out in the morning before heading off to work. I also need to get started on my EASA2 very soon! Let me know how the other one is. They were $7.50 at KMart last week.

Kitchen is cleaned yet again. DH and I are hoping to go to bed early though with the wind still howling I'm not sure how well we'll sleep. Maybe we'll watch Waking Sleeping Beauty! Not sure if there is anything on tv tonight!

TTFN :tigger:

Yahoo great job :cool1:

Hope you have a great day tomorrow too!

Just played a marathon game of Disney Apples to Apples and we're watching Fantasia!

Hmmm... what's Apples to Apples?

For Christmas I got the 2 new BL DVD's. I LOVE the power walk one. I just did mile 1 tonight and I LOVE it. it is more intense than WOTP DVD's, and it feels like a good exercise so far for me.

Thanks, I might have to check out that walking video. I love my Leslie Sansone ones so maybe I'll like that one too. Wonder if they have a clip on Exercise TV?

Best of luck with your husband's work challenge. Go get em :thumbsup2

Blackbelt? Lookout!!!

Princess Vija- I bought the BL Power Walk but haven't had time to try it yet. Maybe I'll try it out in the morning before heading off to work. I also need to get started on my EASA2 very soon! Let me know how the other one is. They were $7.50 at KMart last week.

Let me know if you like the walking one too. I think we may still have a KMart in Saugus if it's still around. If you like it maybe I'll take a drive down.

Well, I think I may do a little cleaning and head to bed. We never made it to see Narnia, but I did end up taking a nice hour and a half long nap with my DS this afternoon instead. And I'm back to normal. No more stomach bug :woohoo:

Back to work tomorrow, but only 3 days until another long weekend :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great day and didn't do too much shoveling today. It's still super windy here.

DVCCruiser- DH grew up in Saugus! Apples to Apples is a comparison game. It usually takes about 15-30 minutes to play but we were having so much fun we didn't want to stop! It's popular at DD1s school. My 18 year old nephew got it for Christmas too. I think we'll get the girls the regular one for Valentine's Day. We usually give them a little something.

Watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Not much else on right now! Girls are heading off to bed momentarily! PLEASE LET THE WIND STOP SOON!!!!!:scared1:

Hello friends:goodvibes

We are back here at my Mom's house, never did make it to the mountains as we planned due to the weather conditions there. We left here on Christmas Day heading to my in-laws house around noon. My friend called us on the road to tell us they would have to go to the mountain house right away before the snow started getting bad in Raleigh. So we told her we would try to get up there Monday (today). Original plan was that she would pick us up at MIL's house Sunday. She made it to Boone but could not get up the road the house was on so she left her car about a mile away from the house and her Dad took her and the kids up to the house. Today she called us and told us not to come up there, they have a foot of snow, more snow falling, about 14 below zero with the wind chill, gusts to about 50 mph:scared1: The power was going on and off, they don't have much food and 9 people are there already. She still hasn't been able to get her van or the stuff in it the rest of the way up the mountain.
Of course now I am kicking myself for going out Friday and getting them all extra gifts but I guess I will see them all at some point before we go back to Germany.

So, we finally came home this afternoon. Spent 44 hours with my in-laws:eek: I am feeling so calm and peaceful to be back at home. Away from the incessant nervous chatter and questions from MIL;) I fixed homemade tomato soup and nachos/queso for everyone for supper. We have been in such a mood for Mexican food lately!! We stopped at a new Outlet Center on the way home and got some good deals. I haven't weighed since Saturday morning but I will face the scales tomorrow. I was up 4 pounds Sat morning so I was eating good the first week herepopcorn:: We are watching Monday night NFL and I haven't eaten anything since 7:30:cool1:
We have about 6 inches of snow here at my Mom's but the roads are clear. Same conditions at my in-laws. So we had no problems at all getting home. I think our whole state got some snow which is very unusual. My friends in Germany say we are continuing to get so much snow there and at times road conditions are bad.

I enjoyed reading about everyone's Christmas:) Tayrn, I was laughing at the image of Sophie eating so much and then getting sick:rotfl: (sorry!) Lindsay, your moment at church brought tears to my eyes. Dona, so funny that you got the same knife set from your MIL twice:lmao: Kathy, sounds like a fun day in PJ's with Michael. LisaH, in the end I don't think DS was too surprised at his Kinect:headache: I went out Friday morning to Target to get him some PJ's to add to his Santa stash and somehow he got the idea I was going to get the Kinect since I saw him and DH playing it at Best Buy the night before and having so much fun...so he thinks it was the last minute present! Our funniest/cutest moment was when we went to put the Santa gifts under the tree, we saw a bottle of chocolate milk under the tree. At first, I thought DS had been snooping under there and left it by accident but then we decided he left it as a Santa snack. He confirmed the next morning he had. DH drank it and said it was pretty good!

I am hoping to do good over the next 2 days since I have my annual gyn appt Thursday morning. It will be disappointing to weigh in there and not have the scales show as good as I know they could have. I remember what I weighed there last year and I want it to show 24 pounds less this year. Not sure if I can get outside to run or walk, it's so bitterly cold here and windy. Hope everyone affected by these storms can stay home and be safe:grouphug:

Maureen: Wow, that is some snow!!! Thanks for sharing the pics.

CC: congrats on your unofficial results!!! All your hard work really paid off!

Pamela: glad to hear from you and sounds like a wonderful Christmas at your house:goodvibes

Cam: Your Christmas sounds wonderful. Way to go on cooking all those healthy, protein rich items. You will have good healthy foods to reach for now:goodvibes

Tracey: So much fun and games at your house:goodvibes

My New Year's Resolutions are to exercise at least 30 minutes daily, continue to run 3 times a week, run in a "real" 5K, journal food daily and complete a couple of large needlework projects.

I feel like I left somebody out but I enjoyed reading all the posts and catching up here:goodvibes Have a great week and be safe out there! Remember you can burn ALOT of calories walking in the snow or playing in snow. And, cleaning house burns alot of calories too;)

Shawnprincess:

Hey everyone.

We had a good Christmas. :) I wasn't even online Christmas day too much excitement and playing. Had to play with Zoe's new toys zhu zhu pet town building, Light Brites and Lincoln Logs. My brother was into the Lincoln Log building and Light Brite. I made her wait until he got up which wasn't too long and we watch Happily N'ever After on Hulu(no cable or basic even because the tv would require the box) which we enjoyed. Now we will have to watch the 2nd one before they go off hulu.com. Then my mom and other brother were over for dinner. Then I was out helping my mom with her PT work delivering newspapers to supplement her disability income. Thankful that the paper size will drop now so maybe yesterday was the last one I'll help with for a while. I need my weekends back and I want to start attending church again which is hard to do when I sleep Sunday mornings.

QOTD, Sunday, December 26: Did you receive a "gift" for the holidays this year that will make your "getting fit" journey easier? Maybe it was a new-found motivation or an actual tangible item. Please share!

I got Target gift cards from my best friend and her parents(known them for some 16+ years so they are family :goodvibes ). I was able to buy 3lb hand weights, Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolis and 30 Day Shred dvds and I had my eye on the Bob Harper Inside Out series specifically the yoga one since I really enjoy yoga and got it but put the yoga mat back. It was a thin cheap one and I'll just keep at in on the carpet until I can afford a nicer one(30-40 bucks) Let me say that one is very intense like it says something I will be working up on for some time. The 30 Day Shred looks very doable(it has levels too though) I was giving it a go through before I start on it. I was doing some of the moves(dd did too she was excited to watch these as much as me since she loves watching BL) and it was work but sure moved along fast. I always do that before I embark on a new workout dvd. I haven't watched or tried out the other video yet. But I thought some new dvds would be motivating. I feel like I have gotten bored with Walk Away the Pounds dvd(I only have one it gets old). I'm so excited to start with 30 Day Shred in the morning. My brother has had the tv/living room occupied since he got home playing his video game he got with his gift cards. Anyway yep I was able to get some new tools for weight loss for Christmas. :)

I journaled my food on sparkpeople today. I had a soda this morning, 3 Hershey kisses, a candy cane and pumpkin pie w/ cool whip and still stayed 25 calories under my minimum. :) Of course my fruits and veggies don't look to great and I kinda slept through breakfast. lol Tomato soup with extra tomato was really "it" by way of veggies/fruit.

QOTD, Monday, December 27: With New Year's right around the corner, do you have a resolution that you'd like to share and if so, does it involve the next BL challenge?

Mine do include BL challenge, eating as clean as I can and ditching the soda completely again. :) In general I want to start taking better care of ME.

Maureen,
Wow that is some snow. I miss it somewhat. The fun part of it but not shoveling or having to warm my car up. I love being able to jump in my car and go no matter the time of year. :thumbsup2

I'll try to get more personals in the morning after my workout.

We stayed at my brothers til around 4 yesterday, and I did not have to go into work at all. It's really blowing, so hard to guess how much, but since i have the day off, I don't need to think about it til later. I did ok on the new ww yesterday. I bet they will stay close because of their upbringing and being taught the importance of family and gratitude. It's definitely feeling like a pajama day here.
Glad you had an OK day with ww yesterday! I hope so. My brothers were 13 and 16 when I was born, one graduated when I was 3 and left home, so we have a different kind of relationship. It's definitely BIG BROTHER with him, he was more like a second dad because he stayed on my case all the time, and I don't see him as much, even though he only lives an hour away. There's a lot there. (Doesn't call on mom's b-day, etc) My other bro lives 2 houses down from mom, I see him every Sunday, and he's been in the trenches the whole time. He and his wife are our kids "godparents", nothing official or anything, we just asked them if something happened to both of us if they would take them in. I hope my girls will be closer....

QOTD, Monday, December 27: With New Year's right around the corner, do you have a resolution that you'd like to share and if so, does it involve the next BL challenge?
I'm not making any. My "goals" seem so far away, each day for me is a "new day" to work on them. Financial peace, lose a few more pounds, exercise more, be a better parent, wife, and daughter, etc. etc. etc. Life goals!

I used 145 the last challenge for a goal and reached it and decided to wait and see how I felt. Since I'm not 100% happy I'm going to try for 140 next challenge. I once got down to 134 and everyone said I was too thin, though to be honest I felt good, so that's probably an issue right there. So, I'm hoping that I can just tone at 145 and that by doing so I'll get down to 140 and it'll be a healthy 140 that I'm comfortable with. My other goal will be to let go of work a bit. I'm an accountant so anal by nature and I have trouble leaving work at work.
I've struggled a bit with both of these issues. I am up in weight, so I'll be starting the year as a loser. I have no idea where I want to get to. As for work, my issue is that the kids there take all my patience, and then I'm a bad momma. Gotta work on that, too!

I got new Aasics and a new warm-up suit from DH (he had some help from my Mom!). The Aasics feel great.
YAY for new shoes!!!! Glad you had a great Christmas!!! I love pajama days!

Wow! Great job getting everything cleaned up so you can come home to a clean place! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear about all the fun that you have at HHI!
Slow and steady, slow and steady! Hope that 6 mile run on the dreadmill didn't do you in!

We got snow last Jan, but its usually just flurries or a snow squall with a dusting. Got a dusting a couple of weeks ago, but Dh can't remember ever having this much snow here and he's lived in the area since he got out of the Navy 20+ years ago. I know with most everything being closed on Christmas people must get cabin fever but you're traveling in occassional Whiteout conditions here. Seriously; What is WRONG with people:headache: Snow like this actually makes me nostalgic for PennDot believe it or not:rolleyes1 They may not be good for much but they KNOW how to clear the roads. If I'd still lived there, I could have gone to work this morning no problem. Poor Onslow whines about going out, you can just see his head above the wall of snow:rotfl: We take him but then he can't find anyplace to go:confused3 I think its because he can't find a proper scent to help him pick his place.
Our VDOT is great, I think they must just have better training since we're a little more used to it! One of our dogs goes behind our bushes when it snows, he doesn't like to potty on snow. The new puppy just goes wild, digs, and then finds some dirt and GOES! I can't believe people were that crazy over Christmas markdowns!:scared1:

just some advice from a healthcare worker....you can still exercise with mono just no contact sports for about a month. I think they were just afraid philly fans would throw snowballs at the players or opposing fans.:lmao: It gets a bit nasty there.I was looking at my training plan yesterday and realized we only have 9 more weeks to go. My runs start increasing now so i am getting a bit nervous. I know I can do 7 since I did that over the summer but Im nervous for the 8 and 10 mile runs. I think once I accomplish 10 I know I can do another 3. I was up bright and early today. Only delayed patients for a 1/2 hour and staff had to report as scheduled. I called to check in on them and they said the roads were tough. We got a bunch of cleaning done and dh snowblowed our property. We can finally see out living room carpet
Did he snowblow it? :lmao: You'll be fine. Before I cut back on my runs when life got in the way this fall, I had done a 9. Don't know what kind of training program you are using, I just added one mile to my Saturday runs each week. It was easier mentally to do it that way for me. I thought, I can handle one more mile..... It was all mental! I know you were stressed over the people at work, glad you got to stay home. Did you ever get out and play? I am crazy, but I have always hated playing in snow. Something about cold and wet just makes me feel icky!!!! They had told me no contact sports for a month, but to also take it easy with ab training????...... I didn't feel up to anything until now, I am SUPER scared to run for the first time again!

I was showing my sil this thread the other day, and hope she may join us for the spring challenge, but what she said was, " oh, so this is like your facebook." and I think that is true. It's nice to have a place to come and visit and socialize every day, isn't it?
So how will you feel w/ your SIL here? Are you on good terms? I think I would die if someone I knew in IRL was here, this is my SAFE PLACE!!!!!

QOTD: My resolution is to maintain! Of course I have to get back to my low weight after the holidays. Just got the menu for the restaurant we order from for NYE! Chinese food! YUMMY! Last I will have until I reach my goal again and maintain for several months! We have to order the food on Thursday!
Sounds like fun! Happy late Anniversary!!

Christmas was a blessing filled with many family moments that I Truly Treasure.
:cloud9:That's great!!!!!

Just I quick pop in to say hi and that unofficially I PASSED ALL 3 TESTS!!!!
:yay::woohoo::dance3::woohoo::yay::dance3: WAY TO GO LADY!!! ALL THAT STUDYING PAID OFF!!!!!

First I have to say is WOW this is a fast moving thread. how in the world do you guys keep up, let alone post repsonses! My hats off to you guys!: I want to use my time more wisely (i.e. not sit in front of the TV all night long!;)).
I know what you mean about time management. I've come to realize that I actually get more done when I have more to do, if that makes sense. Somehow, I can get pampered chef, school, work, home stuff done but give me a few days off, and I'm a mess!!! Just FYI, I read through, and hit multi-quote at the end of each post. Then when I am done, I usually just cut and paste and respond. It is time consuming, but my BL replies and morning coffee get me through the day!!!!:surfweb:

We are back here at my Mom's house, never did make it to the mountains as we planned due to the weather conditions there.
So, we finally came home this afternoon. Spent 44 hours with my in-laws:eek: I am feeling so calm and peaceful to be back at home. THAT IS SOOOO SWEET!!!!! Yeah, miss Sophie loves her party food and buffets where no one is watching. Little pig. Did you go to the new Tangier outlets in Mebane? How were they? I thought about you traveling! Glad you decided not to chance it! How much longer are you home?

We had a good Christmas. :) The 30 Day Shred looks very doable(it has levels too though) I was giving it a go through before I start on it. I was doing some of the moves(dd did too she was excited to watch these as much as me since she loves watching BL) and it was work but sure moved along fast.
Glad you had a great Christmas! I like the Jillian DVD's, they are intense!!! Just do what you can, and it gets easier. KEEP WATER NEARBY!

BRB

Going to try to make this in list form, for easier readability. We'll see.

1. Plans foiled yesterday. Power flicked off, MIL worried about DH's Granny's furnace not coming back on, so mid day we had to go over there so DH could drive her in our 4WD to check on it. Spent the afternoon there, but at least she fed us leftovers! :rotfl:

2. I love to make yeast breads, which are so totally bad for you. I made 2 loaves yesterday with the intent of taking them to HHI, they travel better, to eat ham sandwiches with MIL's leftover ham. We had grilled cheese instead last night.:rolleyes1 A one inch slice has 236 calories!:scared1: But, we cut them .5 slices or less, so maybe it's not too bad. I feel my control over eating spiraling downward. It's getting bad, which is putting me in a bad mood. I tried doing several sets of pushups, arm weight work, ab work yesterday, but I need to get in cardio, other than housecleaning!

3. Spent hours in the girls' rooms yesterday. I took Sophie's, and DH was supposed to be supervising AK. Found him in the living room on FB on his itouch............................ But at least they are clean!

4. Need to get down Christmas decorations today, finish the laundry, go to TA's wife's funeral (she died a week ago today, I know they are just ready for closure!), go see Mom, dust, mop, oh geez. Just lots to do!

5. The episode w/ Sophie has me worried about her again. She just doesn't seem to get full. Even at home when it's healthy stuff, she could eat all the time. I nursed her until she was a few months past 2, and our ped said that would cut her risk of obesity down that she only had like a 24%chance, but I am beginning to wonder if she's in that 25%. It's really, really worrying me. I feed her healthy here, but no matter how much we scream and shout, grandparents just don't get it. Like the other day, they were giving her caffeine free pepsi. I squealed, and she said "it's caffeine free" and I said "BUT IT'S NOT SUGAR FREE!!!!!!!!!! The rule is, one glass of milk with breakfast, and then nothing but water the rest of the day." I wonder how many calories they are letting her drink. Mom is better, but she has a peanut m&m addiction that Sophie gets to partake of.... She literally throws a fit for more food sometimes... I thought about taking her to a nutritionist or something. I just don't know. She'll be 4 in a few weeks, so she just really doesn't understand. She'll tell you "that's healthy" or "that's not healthy", she loves to dance and run and exercise... I just don't know.

Well, after typing that huge list of stuff to do, I think I'll get busy. Have a great day everyone! Sorry for my venting.

:hug:Taryn

Good morning all! :goodvibes

In just a few short days we will be starting our spring challenge!

My other goal will be to let go of work a bit. I'm an accountant so anal by nature and I have trouble leaving work at work. I also check the boards and email a lot during the day and guilt myself into making up for the time at night even though I know I don't use my whole lunch time even though I don't get paid for the hour and I end up doing more work at home than the time missed during the day. So, maybe my goal is to not spend as much time on email and the boards Nah, that's not happening. Just another reason why I don't dare sign up for Facebook.

Sue, that letting go of work thing is hard to do. I have a to do list in my head for work at all times. Sometimes I get mad because I'm thinking about cases when I am scrubbing the toilet -- I just can't get away! :scared1: I'm trying to train my brain better but it is a toughie! :flower3:

We got snow last Jan, but its usually just flurries or a snow squall with a dusting. Got a dusting a couple of weeks ago, but Dh can't remember ever having this much snow here and he's lived in the area since he got out of the Navy 20+ years ago.

Wow, Maureen! That was a lot of snow! Poor Onslow! :lmao:

I was looking at my training plan yesterday and realized we only have 9 more weeks to go. My runs start increasing now so i am getting a bit nervous. I know I can do 7 since I did that over the summer but Im nervous for the 8 and 10 mile runs. I think once I accomplish 10 I know I can do another 3. Good luck with the rest of your training. We will be there before we know it.

Yep, once we have January under our belts, we will be on our way! princess: It will be hard but we can do it. I did start a thread for us to talk about the Princess separate from the BL threads since we have the teams and we will probably drive everyone crazy otherwise! :rotfl:

Also, I will continue with my training so I will be able to walk after the princess.:rotfl: Gotta get back to epcot for that margarita. It's a little more real now that Christmas is over, that is the next big thing. I started to peruse the planning board, and since it's vacation week, looks like it will be busier than we're used to, so we should make some more plans. We don't usually park hop, but think it might be a good idea. We'll see.

I really love to park hop. It's a lot of fun to go to one park in the morning and another in the evening.

One of my New Year's resolution is to be able to keep up with the BL Challenge thread/s I need to read and respond daily to keep on track.

Well off to make some Vegetable Barley Soup for the shovelers out there
stay well and safe :flower3:

Sounds yummy! :p

Just I quick pop in to say hi and that unofficially I PASSED ALL 3 TESTS!!!!

:woohoo: Congratulations!

Apples to Apples is a favorite especially when you have a lot of people -- it gets pretty funny!

DS got Monopoly Deal -- which is a Monopoly card game. We've had a lot of fun with that -- it is the fastest Monopoly game ever! :thumbsup2

First I have to say is WOW this is a fast moving thread. how in the world do you guys keep up, let alone post repsonses! My hats off to you guys!:thumbsup2

That is one of the reasons that we are doing team threads this challenge so it is easier for folks to keep up.

Vija, you won the first challenge that I ever did in 2009. I remember it and your tae-kwon-do prowess well! :goodvibes

Sorry the snow set in and you missed your visit to the mountains, Shawn. Sounds like you are having a great time and have a wonderful plan for when you return. And you survived the in-law! :flower3:

I'll be interested to hear how you like the 30 Day Shred. I've never made it past level 1! :rotfl:

I just don't know.

, Taryn, I know that you worry about Sophie. She is too young to make good choices on her own. I totally agree that the soda thing is a big no -- DS even at 11 rarely drinks soda but I let him have chocolate milk and always have. (Maybe because I can't hack plain milk myself -- I hated the change in taste when the feed changed. :rotfl:) I remember that you took DH with her to a ped visit once to talk about it. Did the ped give you any guidance on what she should be having for her age/weight? Maybe adding some lean protein or milk or yogurt might help? I tried to look to see what they recommended for her age group on mypyramid.gov but the site isn't working right this morning. Try not to worry about it too much. You're on it and I know that you will keep it under control as much as you can.

Only got a short run in yesterday on the TM due to severe wardrobe malfunction with the sports bra -- let's just say things were not being held where they belonged. :rolleyes1 I did 3 miles but there was no way I was doing 6 so I will have my long run on Wednesday.

Have a great day all!

Hi Tayrn:goodvibes Yes, we stopped by the Tanger Outlets. I thought they were pretty good. We only went into Nike, Coach, Yankee Candle, Hanes/Champion and Hickory Farms. I could have stayed all day but that's all the guys could take:lmao:

Good luck getting everything done and just think in a few days you will be relaxing at HHI:cool1:

I am excited because when I weighed this morning, I am only up 2.5 pounds. Much better than the 4 pounds I was up on Christmas Day morning:thumbsup2

I think if I am very careful berween now and Thursday morning, I can get a little more off. That's when my Dr appt is. We do have a family celebration for my Dad's bday tomorrow night but I will be careful.

My first thought aboout Sophie is not to stress out about it since she's only 4 but I am sure that's not very helpful advice:) You are doing great to encourage her being active and showing healthy choices. Those little bodies are growing so fast, it's no wonder they are crying out for so much foodpopcorn:: I've seen lots of DS's friends that were chubby/big eaters when younger and are now huge teenagers, VERY tall and thin!
(I'm not saying Sophie is chubby and I don't think you are either:goodvibes)

Tauwillow: Forgot to mention that we watched the Nutcracker on Christmas Day and saw your son!!! He was great! Wow, those kids are all so talented!!!!! Unbelieveable!

Have a great day everyone! I am going to try to be very active today and eat lightly over the next 48 hours until my Dr appt Thursday morning. We need to re-evaluate what we are doing today and Weds since we weren't planning on being home we have no plans!

Be careful if you are travelling today:goodvibes

Shawnprincess:

pjlla, glad that you had a good Christmas and good luck with all that snow! :santa: You really are so fortunate! :littleangel: How is your DH doing?

Were you the one whose tree fell over so many times last year? Someone's tree fell down a lot last year but I can't remember whose.

You have a happy New Year, too if we don't see you before then. :flower3:
Good memory! Yup, it was my tree that fell over three times last year! Broke several favorite ornaments. But no problems like that this year. Tree is nice and straight and secure... and barely decorated!! Things were just TOO crazy this year and I ended up telling the kids to each pick about 10 of their favorite ornaments, hang them on the tree, and that was it! I pulled out just two or three very favorites of my own (all Disney, of course) and DS and I hung the ornament we bought together in Disney this past May. That was it... no colored balls, no tinsel, no garland. Very blah tree this year. But it will be super easy to put away at least!

Yay for a nice relaxing Christmas. How is your DH doing?

He is doing very well. He got the external hardware removed from his arm last week and now is in a regular cast (he still has pins in the arm though). He is seeing the Otolaryngologist/ENT on Monday and the Orthopedist on Tuesday. We are hoping that his jaw will be unwired and he will be down to a splint instead of a cast on the arm. But those are "best case" scenarios. Right now they are still thinking that both the jaw and the wrist might need more surgery. But we will take it as it comes.

The biggest challenge right now is getting enough good calories into him. He is just so sick and tired of drinking that nothing has much appeal anymore. He definitely needed to drop some weight, but this certainly isn't the best way to do it. And I'm afraid when he finally can really eat, all the weight will come right back on. He isn't really learning anything about portion control or healthy eating right now because this is a FORCED situation. But I try to talk to him a bit about it every day. I'm hoping he will see this as a jump start to a new healthier lifestyle.

I'm so happy to hear your great news!! Congratulations!

AND I WANT TO FINALLY EARN MY BLACKBELT!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

You can do it!! After all you have been through with your health and such, I'm sure you can find the strength to do it!

:hug:Taryn

Sorry things haven't been going as planned.

I don't have much of anything to offer in the way of advise regarding Sophie and the eating. I know you need to count on your parents for childcare, so that makes it tough... plus they are your parents and you don't want to hurt their feelings. But honestly..... if someone was giving my 4 year old soda I'd have a FIT :scared1: !! And M&Ms should be a once-in-a-while treat... holidays or birthday parties or the movies... NOT every day!!

I know we've talked about this before, but maybe you need to send along Sophie's food when she goes to your folks house.... and tell them that she is to eat ONLY what you provide. Do they understand that soda leaches calcium from her little bones? And chocolate is just adding sugar to her body and possibly taxing her pancrease into making more insulin.... and that with overeating and such she could develop Type II diabetes and end up blind or an amputee? Sorry to be so harsh, but maybe this is what they need to hear! It sounds like they just don't get it. Let them know they can show their love in many, many other ways! And that they are showing love to you by taking GOOD care of her! I know... easier said than done. I'll pray about it.

Good Tuesday morning! I told DD she could have a few swim team friends over today.... but she was responsible for getting some cleaning done. Well... they are due here at 1pm and here it is almost 9:30 and she hasn't done anything yet! (Well... she did clean her bathroom yesterday.) I REFUSE to bust my butt if she is just upstairs sitting around! This is making me CRAZY!

We ended up with about 12" of snow here yesterday. I got the snowblowing and shoveling done in about 90 minutes... it was cold and windy and the stupid snow kept blowing in my face, but other than that it wasn't too bad. At least it was light and fluffy and not that terrible wet stuff that clogs the snowblower every 2 minutes.

All of the Christmas goodies (well, the few we had) are finally gone. I did nibble a bit more than planned over the last few days, but I threw away the last of the walnut cookies and chocolate almond cake that were sent home with me from Friday's party, so GOOD RIDDANCE! The few remaining cookies don't tempt me at all. I got on the scale this morning and it always STUNS me how much weight I can gain in just a few days! Maybe it will look better by my real weigh-in on Friday.... if not, at least it is an incentive to stay in control over New Years eve/day.

Well... I'm off to see what DD is up to... probably primping for the party!! Guess I need to relax and let go about the mess.... after all, what do 15/16 year olds notice anyhow?? Just the snacks and video games!! :lmao: TTYL.............P

Crazy, busy here, but I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS, CC!!!!! :yay:  :woohoo: You worked so hard and studied so diligently - you SOOO deserved to pass all three tests. I am so glad you did!

Hi to everyone else and Happy Tuesday!

Morning all! Finally catching up after the holidays. Since they feel like a non-stop marathon do I get to count it in my weekly mileage? :lmao:

QOTD, Sunday, December 26: Did you receive a "gift" for the holidays this year that will make your "getting fit" journey easier? Maybe it was a new-found motivation or an actual tangible item. Please share! All I asked for were gifts related to fitness - and I got good stuff! DH really took list to heart and then some. He got me 2 new Skirt Sports running skirts (one in this print)
1017051_800x885.jpg
. A matching shirt and 2 other skirt sports shirts!
I asked for Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham and he got me that AND my beloved Running for Mortals so I can stop checking it out of the library!

I guess he decided having several running wardrobe choices was a good idea because he went out yesterday and bought himself $200 in running clothes. It's funny how he doesn't hesitate to buy himself what he needs while I scrimp and make do and eventually buy ONE piece. I guess I've changed since becoming a stay at home Mom.

QOTD, Monday, December 27: With New Year's right around the corner, do you have a resolution that you'd like to share and if so, does it involve the next BL challenge?

I have 2 immediate goals: The first is to train to run my first half marathon in spring. I'm looking at either May or June. I'll probably repeat after that and do another in the fall with plenty of 5k's in between.

The second is to lose my final 10 pounds by that first Half. I think.
I'm doing WW and have been very successful with it. I've gone from size 16 to size 10. I'm pretty comfortable and like my body. I'm by no means a hard body, but am way more fit than at the beginning of the year!
Anyway, I haven't had an ultimate weight goal just taking it in increments. I don't "feel" like I'm at my final weight. But thinking about being almost 130 pounds just sounds too skinny. It would be at the low end of the healthy weight range for me and would make running that much easier (running is still a challenge to get/keep my body going, but I do love it). I'm just not there mentally. Please share your thoughts, experience, advice - I really need to get my head there.

Oh, and I do have one question - I do WW online and weigh myself at home. DH got a new body fat scale for Christmas (it's the only thing he asked for) and it's showing 2 pounds heavier than our old scale. How do I make that transition for my weigh ins? Just bite the bullet and add in the 2 pounds and have it look like a gain even though it's not?

Thanks all!

Good morning everyone. I've done ww officially for 2 days and am up 2 pounds today.:rotfl: We had friends over and they brought cookies, and I lost control. I had done well getting all our cookies out of the house except for some gingerbread men I saved for these friends. But on a positive note, I wrote everything down, and used up the rest of my 49 weekly allowance points, so as a ww-er, that is what the plan is all about. I also hadn't exercised in 4 days, but today I did an hour of wii fit, and I did shovel yesterday, so I consider that my arm workout. I am going to stick with it, and earn activity points to keep myself within the points for the week. I need to go grocery shopping too, and will make something for dinner with leftovers for the next 2 days I'm working.

Mrs D.- What a cute running skirt. On the running, the thing that has kept me running in all kinds of weather was signing up for the princess half. Having a goal definitely helps. Also, I think to take walking breaks can definitely help keep you going during your longer runs. And if you're struggling during the runs, huffing and puffing, try to slow down a little. Not sure it that was what you were asking. Definitely if you find a half in the spring to work toward, that is very motivating. On the weighins, we start the new spring challenge on saturday the first, so that will be your spring challenge starting weight, so you could start with the higher weight then, but i guess if you mean for your clippie and over all weight loss, you could just write those 2 pounds off, but you've lost the same weight, so you could say your starting weight was 2 pounds higher than it was, if that makes sense.

Pamela- So glad you had a nice relaxing holiday and that Dh is doing well. What an awful way to lose the weight, but hopefully once he can eat again, he will feel better at a lower weight and won't regain what he has lost. If anyone can be a positive influence on his healthy lifestyle, you can.
Have fun with those teenagers, and I agree, they won't care if your house is a mess.

Shawn- Sorry your trip to the mountains didn't work out. Your poor friends not able to get up the mountain. How stressful. Good work on getting that christmas gain down, and I'm sure your doctor will be thrilled to see how well you've done this past year.

Lisa- Thanks for starting a princess bl thread. I'll have to pop on over. Michael got monolopy deal too, but we haven't tried it yet. The other game he got was Headbanz and we played it last night with out friends and it was hilarious. We also love apples to apples, but having only the 2 of us, we love to pull it out when we have company. Sorry about the bra incident, but luckily it wasn't during the princess.:scared1: I think I should invest in a new one before then.

Taryn- Hope your day goes ok with the funeral. You must be so ready for your vacation. On sophie, I would try not to stress too much. She is so young, and you are showing her a very healthy lifestyle, so much more than you probably grew up with, and she is active and growing. I know with michael and my nieces and nephews, they all seem to fill out one year and look a little chubby, and the next year, they've shot up a few inches and thinned ou again. Just part of the growing process, I guess. On the candy and grandparents, it's tough when they see her all the time, versus once a month or so, but I think to tell them how you feel and encourage them to have healthy snacks and limit the candy and soda. I know it's hard. My mom always had candy in the house, and it was just a given she'd offer it to the kids.
As for my sil, I'd love if she came on here. We're very close, and she is coming to disney with us for the princess to watch michael. She and my brother are my best real life support for my healthy journey. Now my sisters on the other hand, I don't know if I'd want them here.:rotfl:

Sue- Thanks for coaching yesterday. Hope you have a good day at work.

Hello to everyone else. Off to play some dominoes. Have a great day.
