Our Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge will be ending on 12/18. There are three more weeks left of our Fall challenge and lots of time to make a difference!

The Biggest Loser 9 Spring Challenge will be a 15 week challenge starting 1/1/10 and ending 4/16/10. The dates may be adjusted when we find out when BL 9 ends on NBC or if the participants want a different date.

The format will be the same a other BL challenges, i.e. weekly coaches, weigh-ins, and a COW (challenge of the week). There will our maintainers component this challenge for those of you who are in maintenance mode. Maintainers will be on a separate team and scored differently by keeping within a percentage or pounds within goal.

LuvBaloo will continue as our weight keeper and donac will continue as COW keeper. I will be hostessing and doing the coaching schedule. Worfiedoodles will also be doing her pampering challenges and corinnak has volunteered to do our clippie again. Thank you to everyone who helps run these challenges and makes them a success! :goodvibes

If you haven't participated before, here is some information about our fall challenge http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33447438&postcount=1. The BL 9 challenge will be similar. You can also read our thread. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33517401&postcount=1

We need your input for this challenge. Do you like teams and separate threads? Or teams and one big thread? Or teams and separate threads merging into one thread as time goes on? If you are going to be part of the maintainers group, how do you think it should be measured -- % or pounds?

Is it more important to keep to the Biggest Loser show schedule or is it more important that the challenge just keep going regardless of what the show is doing?

Let us know what you liked and didn't like about the fall challenge (or previous challenges) and what you would like to see in the spring challenge. We're a democratic group and your input is important to us. It is everyone's challenge and we want it to be what works best for you.

And if you would like to participate as a weekly coach, please let me know, too, or chime in on the thread.

Thanks for your help!

I don't care how we do it but I'm in. The end day is my birthday and when I want to meet goal by so that would be perfect.

I'll coach if you need me.

I would like to join also.....I have a couple of pounds that have haunted me since this summer and I would like to have more control during and after the holidays. Terri

Count me in. I hope to be just a maintainer at that point though ;-) You can put me wherever I fit as far as coaching goes.

I definitely want to join in for the BL 9 Spring Challenge. I'll read through 8's thread to get a better understanding, but I'm up for anything. Thanks!

I'm in. I'll coach a week if you need me. I find it helps me stay on track.

You ladies are welcome to come join us for the last 2 1/2 weeks of the BL 8 challenge, too. :goodvibes

Thanks, Susan and Sarah for offering to coach. :flower3: I will set up at least the first few weeks before the end of this challenge and finish up the last week of December.

I'm in! I hope to be close to being a maintainer by then! I have 13-18 to go for my goal! Hoping to reach 20 pounds for the challenge by Friday!

Hi everyone.
I'm in again, and 2010 is going to be a losing year, I can feel it. I liked having one thread, though it was really big and moved fast in the beginning, we were able to all get to know everyone else at it moved along. I know January is a big month for people to start healthy living, so there may be too many to have one, and then I'd vote for teams with a merging thread along the way.

Thanks Lisa.

I voted for the one thread. :thumbsup2

But I'm okay with team threads to start and merging into one thread later, if then numbers are high. BL6 was my first time participating, and it started last January with high numbers and one thread. It was amazing how fast some of it moved, but I enjoyed it!

If anybody has any suggestions for changes with the weightkeeper reporting, let me know :goodvibes. I'm getting a lot of enjoyment from doing it.

Count me in! I'm hoping to lose another 10lbs or perhaps 15!
I voted for multiple threads merging to one because sometimes it's difficult to keep up when it gets busy. I'm okay with any format though.
Also I'd rather track weight by lbs rather than by % but again I don't really mind either way (seeing my actual numbers may keep me more honest!) I don't watch the show so probably that's the way its done there. Maybe I'll start watching:)
Thanks to LuvBaloo and donac for their continued help.

I'm in and I would love to try coaching! I just have to figure out how to make the posts work better. I am not the most technically inclined.:rolleyes1

I will be on Spring Break in Sanibel Island from March 26 to April 6, but other then that I can coach anytime.:cheer2:

Thanks to all who made and continue to make the BL8 challenge possible. It has meant alot to me!

Have a great night!

Mullysisters - the show does use % loss. Its supposed to even the playing field to give everybody an equal shot at getting onto the top losers list.

We could have the option of people setting a goal for pounds to lose in the challenge, and report their status as how far they've gotten. For example, if you want to lose 15pounds, and in week one, and in week 1 you lose 1 pound, I could record you as 1 down 14 to go. This could be something done in addition to the normal results if people want it.

Oooh! You might move to the maintainers team sometime during the challenge! :thumbsup2 The pounds vs. percentage question is still up in the air for the maintainers team measurement. Since we will have some maintainers this time around I think that will be nailed down this challenge. But you did give Shannon an interesting idea about goals! :thumbsup2

I never watched the show until this challenge. It is worth checking into. It is mostly inspirational watching people and how they struggle and keep fighting and changes happen. You might be inspired, too. The finale is on Tuesday 12/8.

We are glad that you enjoyed the challenge and I will be contacting you about coaching. I can help you with the multi quote thing, too. :goodvibes You will enjoy coaching, it is a lot fun and very motivating!

I like this idea of setting goals for pounds to lose in the challenge. I know most of us do anyway but if they are out there and reminding us every week that might be some added incentive. I know if my progress was out there every week I might be darn sure I don't get stuck like I do sometimes.

Would you keep track of that or have the participants track it and report it with the weight? I live in fear of having you get burn out, Ms. Weightkeeper. :worship: I want to keep it easy for you since you do such a fabulous job for us! :flower3:

It's looking like a single thread with loser and maintainer teams but if we get a big number of participants, we will rethink things, and probably merge into one thread later as our numbers dwindle.

I would like team threads and then merging into one near the end - it always gets smaller.

I just feel that traditionally the January numbers are huge! And for me it's overwhelming. I feel more connected with the smaller numbers of a team.

Thanks to all the leaders.
