This is the first day of school so I will update the participant list tonight. In the meantime, here is a QOTD for you all:

Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.

I'm Shannon, and I'm married with 2 DD's. I work full time as a lab supervisor in an MDF manufacturing plant, and its large building with my area far away from the meeting rooms, bathrooms and photocopier, so I do get about 5000 steps a day without trying. DH works out of town 3 days a week, so I'm pretty busy with work, kids (7&4) and I'm taking one correspondence course at a time. I don't really enjoy exercising, I'd rather sit on my butt watching TV, playing on computer, doing cross-stitch. I started trying to lose weight in January, and find the support and accountability in the BL threads really helpful. I enjoy it so much, I jumped at the opportunity to be Weightkeeper for the summer challenge, and am excited to be continuing on with BL8.

My goals for this challenge are:
-lose 15 pounds
-exercise 500 min/month (I know its not a lot compared to some of you, but I've got to start small)
-go down 2 notches in my belt

I actually followed through this morning, and got up when the alarm went off so I could get some exercising in. I only managed to get 15minutes because the WiiFit quit working. Hopefully, its just the charger that's died, and I'm going to try batteries tonight to see if that fixes it.

Have a great OP day everybody!

I'm glad you asked this. I introduced myself earlier but for those of you who haven't read back...Sarah, 2 kids, 1 dh, work ft+ have about 90 more to lose.

As for goals for this challenge, I hadn't really thought about it yet...let's see....14 weeks in this challenge...I am going for 10% of my current body weight. I lost over 14% in the last challenge but I know some of that was the initial big loss when you first start trying to lose! I hope everyone is ready because I think this is going to be a fantastic challenge! I am off to drink a bottle of water!

Sarah

I want to be a Loser, too!

As you can see, I'm a new recruit.

I booked PodCastCruise 2.0 as my incentive (or carrot) to get in shape.
Now it's time to pay the piper, this is where the rubber meets the road or the fat meets the fire or something like that...

I've spend the past 8 months lurking on these boards and listening to the podcast and you people are amazing.

I need somewhere to be accountable and to get support and this is the place.

Thanks for the opportunity,
Susan

Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.

I'm a 30yo SAHM to 3 kids, ages 11, 8 and 1. I do some part-time work from home as a freelance writer/proofreader, and I run the office side of DH's small home improvement business. I also go out on jobs with him as needed, which is an interesting form of exercise in itself. We just bought an 1880 farmhouse that was a foreclosure, so a lot of my time and energy these days goes into the slow but steady repairs and restoration of my dream house. I'm also an avid but frustrated gardener, having moved here too late in the season to make and real progress, and I really couldn't afford to lose my one physical, outdoor hobby!

My goals right now are pretty simple:
  • Move more - Too many of my hobbies are sedentary, and I use the kids as an excuse not to exercise. Our new town is great for walking, and I need to get in the habit of doing just that.
  • Eat better - I'm a mindless eater, I eat out of boredom when I'm watching TV or at the computer. I need to focus on being aware of what and how much I am snacking.
  • Cut out the Dew - I've been a 2 liter per day Mt Dew addict since I was about 14, and although I've switched to diet, I know I really need to kick the habit altogether. Easier said than done, though; I get migraine-like withdrawal headaches that put me completely out of commission if I go cold turkey.

I'm going out to buy a scale this afternoon, and then I'll be able to set more definite goals in terms of pounds. I don't want to have to shop for my next Disney trip, so that's the big goal - to drop two sizes and get into the extensive wardrobe already hanging in my closet.

Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.

Hi I'm Jen!!! I'm 26, soon to be 27, happily married to my own Prince Phillip, and a high school science teacher!! I'm a huge Disney fanatic and love all things Disney!! I also love being around my teens at church we help by being youth sponsors and I love to scrapbook and am finally moving into the digital world.

My goals for this challenge are

1. Lose 15-20 more lbs. Since starting mid July I have lost 21 lbs. I really want to lose 6 more before my Disney trip in 3 weeks but we'll see how that goes

2. Workout 5/7 times a week!!!

3. Only eat out once a week!!

2. Try a new exercise each week:yay:

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!!

This is the first day of school so I will update the participant list tonight. In the meantime, here is a QOTD for you all:

Tell us a little about yourself and your goals for this challenge.

Let's see here...my name is Jennifer, and I'm a 36 year old SAHM of two boys we adopted from Russia 3 1/2 years ago. When we first brought the boys home, I lost a much-needed 30 pounds without even thinking about it in the first 6 months. So little sleep, so much stress, the weight just melted off. I was at my ideal weight. Well, now it's back, and it needs to go buh-bye again.

As a SAHM living in the country, I tend to get bored. Alot. So I eat. Alot. Munching, snacking my way through the day. I vowed that when my boys started school (in K and 1st this year, both of them all day every day for the first time) I would start walking and watching my portions. I had tried Sparkpeople a few months ago and loved it, but I just couldn't fit it in to my day. Starting tomorrow, I plan to start doing it again. I am hoping at this point to just be able to comfortably fit into the clothes I bought earlier this year that are now a little tight in the waist. I can't think long term, or I'll get overwhelemed and stop.

I am a carb addict. I have cut back the amount of Coke I drink to 2 cans a day, and I need to get down to 1. I used to drink a 6 pack daily. I tried diet and coke zero, as well as cutting it out completely, and I just can't do it.

I am truly hoping that by coming here I am going to have a place to hold me accountable.

Wow-- way cool.

Hello everyone! I'm glad to be part of the challenge. :) I'm 44, married to DH for 18 years, and we have an 11 yo dd. :lovestruc

I feel like I've started to make some progress toward weight loss and getting my life back on track. My mom passed away suddenly at the end of April and it's been very hard on me. I work from home so when I wasn't working I was sitting around and became very very sedentary. I developed horrible stress rashes - just gross, really. Finally 4 weeks ago I decided that was enough, and I started walking. I couldn't go very far, 1/2 mile, and my legs were sore and it took 1/2 hour. I also decided to follow the South Beach diet - that has been great for me! I also finally went to the doctor and got some meds for my nasty rash. So...that's my story. :thumbsup2 Today I walked a mile in 24 minutes - better than I was!, and I've lost 13.2 pounds. :woohoo:

My goal for the BL - sounds kind of silly but I want my bmi to get down from "obese" to "overweight" on that darn wii fit!

Hi-could I join please
Last year my DS took me to WDW for my 50th. I lost 27lbs for the trip, sadly I've regained it all plus. I need to start eating better, I'm pretty active. I'd like to eventually do the Expedition Everest Challange next year. It's a great reason to come to Disney solo (no more sister trips)
My goals are
1. less alcohol
2. become vegetarian
3. no fast food at work

Hi everyone! It's great to meet you all, and see some familiar friends from the last challenge.

:grouphug: I am so sorry about your mom. I lost my mom at the end of june, and I know how hard it is. Congrats on getting back on track and on losing 13 pounds!!:thumbsup2

I'm Kathy and a single mom to an awesome 7 yo boy. I'm a nurse in endoscopy and work 32 hrs/wk. Since my mom got sick in may, and passed away in june, I've put on 15 pounds. I'm not upset with myself about it, just trying to get back into a routine now. I've had the past 2 weeks off for vacation, and was able to get away, relax and regroup. My son starts school tomorrow, and I'm going back to weight watchers. I'm also going to get up and start doing the watp videos in the mornings. I had been faithful for about 8 months, and been successful in the past, so I can do it again.

My goals for this challenge are lose one pound/week, so 14 pounds.

I also am going to exercise 2 days this week, and increase to 3 next, then 4, and after that to exercise at least 4 days / week.

I also want my capris that fit in may, to fit in november when we go to wdw.:rotfl:

I have done the bl challenges, and always have fun, and find lots of inspiration and support here. This fall challenge will be awesome!! We will all lose lots of weight!!:cool1:

Good luck all!!

:yay::yay:

Sign me up too :woohoo: I need to have some accountabilty. Hopefully I'll be at my goal weight before it's over. :cheer2:

Probably would be a good idea to workout while watching the show instead of sitting on the loveseat :scratchin

Add me!! I really need this, again!!! Thanks!!

I guess I'll post my introduction since I haven't done that yet!

Let's see. I'm 35 years old and married for (almost) 5 years to the love of my life, dh - Chris. I have a 15 y.o. daughter, Devyn, from a previous marriage. Both myself and my dh work in the Information Technology field. I work for the state of Louisiana and dh works in private industry but we both pretty much do the same thing and we both are extremely sedentary. I had been doing really well with weight loss and exercising last year until I developed some sort of infection that eventually led to DVT's and blood clots in my legs. I was hospitialized for about 4 days until they got the clotting under control. And in the process of all that they discovered that I'm actually prone to clotting and have something called Antiphospholipid Antibody syndrome, which basically means that I'm blood thinners for the rest of my life.

Up until then even though I was overweight, I was healthy and active. During the course of my illness though I was really thrown for a loop and ended up basically being bedridden for 3 months. I still to this day don't have the stamina that I had before. I'd love to be able to get back to that point in my life and become healthy again in the process. I have to do it this time. Too much is at stake now!

Well that's basically it! Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

mikamah - I'm so sorry about your mom...feel free to pm me if you want to...it's tough to get through and hard to explain, at least for me. I know you'll be fitting in those capri's soon!!

mullysisters...just curious, why no more sister trips?

corky - lol!!

goldcupmom- hi again!!

Desiree...glad you are getting healthy!! we can do this together!

Luvbaloo...thanks for gathering everyone's info so we all be losers!:grouphug:

Popping in during my lunch break and I see we've got more losers!:cool1 :welcome: to all of you! Please remember to send in your starting weights on Friday. :goodvibes or close to Friday, I'm not super picky about it :goodvibes

I am a carb addict. I have cut back the amount of Coke I drink to 2 cans a day, and I need to get down to 1. I used to drink a 6 pack daily. I tried diet and coke zero, as well as cutting it out completely, and I just can't do it.

Do you drink the coke plain? I too was a coke addict, but I like a bit of lime in it, and was able to switch to diet coke (adding lime, not the store bought diet coke with lime, which I think is too fake tasting) and recently tried coke zero and I like it. DH is even switching to coke zero now too! Of course, I don't know that all the artificial sweeteners are really healthy either, but I'll tackle one thing at a time. :goodvibes And that's very cool about adopting 2 boys from Russia; I assume they were already brothers, so its fantastic that they were able to stay together :thumbsup2

My goal for the BL - sounds kind of silly but I want my bmi to get down from "obese" to "overweight" on that darn wii fit!

:flower3:Condolences on the loss of your mom, I dread ever having to deal with that.
And I completely understand your goal. This spring I got into the overweight category on the WiiFit and it felt so good to hear it tell me "that's overweight":lmao:

I will quickly update. I've been journaling for several years on WISH(feel free to visit), so I know many of you. I am also running the 'exercise challenge' thread, so come on over!!

I am 49, married, have DS23, who is the source of most of my stress eating, DS20 & DD17....all are at home. I live in NM, where the weather is nice most of the year, but I still hate it because it is very BROWN & our trees are more like most area's bushes! sigh.........FL, where my DSis & her family live, is my dream home....but DH totally HATES Florida & humidity!! bigger sigh......

I have been doing WW since 2003 & am up/down/up/down, never making goal. I have a BodyBugg, but seem to be becoming allergic to the metal contact....or maybe just a fun side effect to the Hives I've had for 6 weeks since we were on a cruise.(still trying to find out the cause & to control them). The hives are making it difficult to do much exercise right now, the Zyrtec has the wonderful side effect of weight gain, & I'm stressed so all I want to do is EAT! So this couldn't come at a better time!

I'll be happy to coach in Dec if needed...just not the 17 as DD turns 18 on the 17th.

I'm really looking forward to this season of BL!!

Hi Everyone,
I live in Beautiful British Columbia and have 2 DS the oldest started Highschool today - boy where does the time go. My other son is 10 and started grade 5 today.

I just turned 40 and I work part time for a Credit Union. My goal is to lose about 10 lbs but I would be really happy to just go down a notch or two on my belt. With hard work, menu planning and the support of this forum I know that I can do it!

Add me to the loser list!

I lost 30 pounds between Christmas and our April trip by working out and dieting religiously. Due to knee problems and a bout of the flu and other stresses of daily life I've gained back about 10-12 pounds. Hope to lose about 20-30. Kids go back to school this coming week and next so I'll be able to get my focus back.

Happy to join you and lose weight with all of you! Hopefully this will keep my focus. I used to do 2 miles on the elliptical while watching Biggest Loser last season and hope to do that again this season. I also do the Wii and Wii Fit and hope to do some walking.
Good luck everyone!

Also, I recently had a physical and my cholesterol was down 35 points but my LDL is 5 points over and I will be retested in November so I really need to do this for my OWN good!

Yes, quoting myself. Won't be doing the elliptical anymore. I did .85 miles today and starting having the knee pain that I only get when doing the elliptical. It has been off and on all day. Next weekend, somehow, we are trading my elliptical for my SIL's treadmill. I'm really bummed as I LOVE my elliptical. Hoping the knee feels better tomorrow so I start some BL or Wii workouts. The pain usually only lasts a day. I have given the knee a good 4 week break. If it continues I will mention it to my doctor again. I've iced it this afternoon. DDs and I went shopping and we came home and I could barely go up or down the stairs without crying. Oh yeah, and I'm supposed to help DH coach DD1's soccer practice tomorrow night!
UGH!!!!:mad::sad2::sad1:
