Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

I just love that scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off where the teacher just keeps calling his name and there is radio silence. Totally makes me :lmao: Enjoy your dinner tonight!

Thanks Cam! LOL, I really like Ferris Bueller's Day Off too, it's one of my "comfort" movies :) :::sigh::: They just don't make movies like they used to, do they?

Nicole :flower3:

Would you believe that I'm actually here today? I hope I don't give any one a heart attack by chiming in for the first time since VERY early in this game.

Best thing to do is go ahead and take all 5 measurements today and PM that total to me. I will write that down as your 3/25 number and we'll use that for comparison when the 4/22 measurements come around. I think that will play most fairly for all the other participants.

Welcome aboard!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the quick reply! :goodvibes PMing you after I take my arm  and thigh :scared: measurements.

Cam I am in on the journaling challenge. I need something to jump start me.

QOTD Thursday 4/7/11 is Do you measure progress without the scale and what do you use?

I use how my clothes fit, especially my belt.

I'm a scale girl. It keeps me accountable when I choose to be :rolleyes1 I'm feeling my motivation come back for the first time in months and you can bet I'm jumping on it.

Today was good. Lots of meetings for orientation. There are many many things to learn including the "language". It was a bit overwhelming, but people kept asking me which company I worked at before since I already seemed to "get it":lmao: Nope, I just pay attention. My schedule for the first 3 weeks is so variable and apparently it isn't 40 hours until after training :confused3 Today I worked 9 - 2:30 with a 1/2 hour lunch. Next Thursday and Friday I can't work at all because my supervisor/trainer is out. While I was excited to get normal paychecks from the get go I'm just glad to have the job search behind me and I'm still making more than I was so it's all good.

I had a brief meeting with the Regional manager and he commented several times on my color coordination with my outifit, jewerly and purse :lmao: I guess that's a good thing because he said that he judges people within the first 5 minutes of meeting them and he had briefly met me in the waiting area this morning and made is assessment then:upsidedow He proceeded to say that he sees me going places with the company and to ask for more challenges and better positions as I feel comfortable:goodvibes Maybe he tells everyone that, but it felt good to think that this isn't going to be a dead end job:thumbsup2 I was hired for my customer service skills and most of the employees there have only had to deal with the drivers or technicians so their skills might be a bit lacking when we take over all the incoming phone calls at the end of next month. I guess waitressing and bartending all these years does come in handy, who'd a thunk it?

Deb - That is FANTASTIC!! Not only do I love that that guy recognized your talents, but even more so that he took the time to acknowledge them and to encourage you to seek out opportunities for advancement. That sounds very promising. I'm sorry you aren't getting all the hours you'd like right off, but I hope it quickly becomes what you need it to be.

Dona -- YAY!!! So glad you are in this with me and Kathy!!!

I have an Appointment with an Orthopaedist on 4/20. Should I see him or a neurologist?

Just using my medical knowledge my opinion would be this.
I would probably go with the ortho first. Did they do an MRI of your spine. You may have a pinched nerve or herniated disc in your cervical spine causing the pain. If not and they cant tell whats wrong then I would go to neuro. Hope you find the culprit and a cure soon.

Anyway, I was telling her how busy I've been and this rambled out of my mouth:

This weekend I have to finish school
Next weekend (April 16th) we have the Kenny Chesney concert (also my best friend's birthday that day)
April 23 - Our big grand opening for our auto shop
April 30th - Alan's birthday
Friday, May 6th, your flying in from IL
Weekend of May 13th Alan and I will be packing for our 8 night stay at BLT for my graduation celebration!

Its weird I'm never busy on weekends and usually just spend it lounging. But dang I'm a busy person all of a sudden! :lmao:

Very busy but sounds like lots and lots of fun.

Would you believe that I'm actually here today? I hope I don't give any one a heart attack by chiming in for the first time since VERY early in this game.

Hi Connie!

Today was good.

Sounds like a great first day Deb. Thats always a great feeling to have people (especially the boss) notice your talents. Im sure you will go far!

Okay, so who wants to join a journaling challenge with me? Should we do it here? or set up a new thread where everyone can check in? I think, so far, Kathy is on board with me. I'm not sure if CC is game. Who else? Anyone? Bueller? ......... Bueller?

Okay, here it is. Let's commit to journal our food, even if it is just for the next two weeks. This might mean only writing down what you eat and the portion size for now. If you are able to track points or pointsplus or calories or some other nutrition information, too, that is great -- you are already on to "step 2". So, who is with me? (Kathy, I've "volunteered" you, my friend :cutie: )

I am definitely in! I need this, so need this. I had a great 1st day of my new journal. 100% OP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a busy day at work and I'm ready for bed. I'll post HH before I fall asleep. ;)

:goodvibes for weigh-in tomorrow everyone!

Welcome to Healthy Habits![/COLOR]

My name is CC (short for Christina) and I will be your Healthy Habits coach for BL 11. I love the BL challenges and Healthy Habits has helped me significantly in achieving many of my goals.

Some Background Information: Thanks to donac (Dona-hostess of Team Donald) and jenanderson for their amazing help so I know how to coach! I couldn’t do this without seeing them in action previously. I will be continuing the prizes that Jen started.

Here’s How Healthy Habits Works: Each week there will be 3 Healthy Habits (HH) to complete. The first two HHs will always be drinking water and exercising. (Note: The amount and time will increase throughout the challenge!) At the end of each week, you will tally up the number of points you earned for the week and send me a private message with your total. Here’s an example. For Week 1, the 3 HHs are drink Six 8 oz. glasses of water a day, exercise a minimum of 20 minutes per day, and eat at least 3 servings of vegetables a day. If on 4 days you get in all 3 HHs, you would report your points like this:

4/6 days of drinking water
4/6 days of exercising
4/6 days of eating veggies

Your total points (ex: 12/18) AND your team name should be in the subject of your PM.

On/about Tuesday evening, I will post the week’s results. I will share the number of participants and the top scorers. New for BL 11: I will also list the people who earned 7/7 on one or more of the HHs for the week. Everyone who participates will be entered into a drawing for the week's prize. Each prize will have something to do with the 3rd Healthy Habit for the week. I will post the winner and ask that you PM me your contact information. (Please Note: If you do not wish to be entered into the drawing, please let me know in your PM. I understand people’s WISHes for privacy.)

Participation in Healthy Habits is entirely optional, but I encourage you to participate and help your team be on top for the week. Good luck on your journey and I hope that HHs helps you as much as it continues to help me!

Welcome to Health Habits Week 15

Week 13 is 4/8-4/14.

This week's 3 Healthy Habits are:
1) Drink Six 8 oz. glasses of water.
2) Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
3) Read something about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

At the end of the week, please PM me your points. I will post the results on/about Tuesday.

Remember, every participant counts, regardless of the number of points you earn!

If you have any questions, please free to ask!

Evening all!!

Just wanted to pop over and say Good Night! Busy, busy evening, but I managed to get in another 30 minutes of cardio..... it wasn't a blow-out sweat session, but my heart was definitely pumping!

Prayer, pixie dust, and fingers crossed for the news from the scale tomorrow.

I'll be on in the morning!....................P

I finished my last individual assignment for my Bachelors degree!!

I'm waiting for team members to finish up their parts and then we'll get it turned in.

Its going to feel weird not doing school work now, :lmao:.

read and run.

How come no one told me Track and Field events took 4 hours?!?!??!

DS14 had his first meet today. Ran the 100 meter and the 200 meter and did really well for his first time out.

then invention convention at the elementary school, that goodness the private school DS9 goes to didn't have an event.

Mama's tired so I'm headed to bed in 10 minutes.
Been staying on plan with food only because I've been to busy to eat!! LOL

See y'all tomorrow!

I just can't seem to feel satisfied today! Maybe when I eat I'm not eating enough or something! I just want to eat and eat today. Just had some Laughing Cow cheese and Ritz crackers. I was doing pretty good today but I just feel famished! Hopefully it won't effect weigh in tomorrow! Earlier in the day I didn't eat much. I had a shake for breakfast and a lean pocket for lunch. I also had some mini peppermint patties. I came home and had some M&Ms, 2 clementine's and a finished the small amount of Fritos that were left. For supper I had a shake made with water. Maybe that's what it was. I've been eating small portions all day. Still drinking my water. I worked out this morning and gave 2 massages today. I have one scheduled for tomorrow and one on Saturday.

I plan on working out in the morning. Probably do the 3 mile with hand weights. Ash wants to go to the wellness center in the morning so we'll have to leave early as if we go we are walking.

Time for CSI!

TTFN :tigger:

WOOHOOO!! I'm so pleased to hear that day #1 went so well!! You must feel great!!!!

**Kam...... I'm in for the journaling challenge!! You all are going to have to work hard to keep up with me. I've journaled virtually EVERY BITE for 3 years now...... and got the notebooks to prove it!!

Okay.... off to bed!.............P

Sounds like a plan. :thumbsup2 I so need this challenge. I started the day off, but after work was rushed to get to scouts, and didn't journal anything else after lunch. I actually ate pretty well today, but I know I need to journal to keep myself within my weekly points. I will start my ww week tomorrow, and have my paper folded with the next 7 days ready to go. It's with my work stuff, so I will not forget to put it in my pocket in the morning.

I am definitely in! I need this, so need this. I had a great 1st day of my new journal. 100% OP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on your great first day of journalling!! I'm going to follow your lead tomorrow.

Cam I am in on the journaling challenge. I need something to jump start me.
We can do this dona. :cool1:

read and run.

So happy for ds. Did I see the ee challenge is just one month away!! Whoo hoo!!

**Kam...... I'm in for the journaling challenge!! You all are going to have to work hard to keep up with me. I've journaled virtually EVERY BITE for 3 years now...... and got the notebooks to prove it!!
Well, now I'm feeling some pressure. My folded piece of printer paper doesn't compare with 3 years of notebooks, but it works well for me, when I DO IT!!! That is the key. I'm in, every bite, lick and taste.
Nice work on the orgranizing today, P. I laughed about your junk drawer because a few weeks ago, michael and a friend had a rope tied from the refridgerator to my kitchen junk drawer, and they were videoing each other running into the rope and falling, and imagine their surprise when the junk drawer flew completely out of the cabinet, and all over the kitchen floor. I wasn't too mad, because I couldn't tell you the last time i had cleaned it out, so it wasn't a bad thing. Fingers crossed for you and the scale tomorrow!!

Today is my "friday", I cant wait for work to be over. No motivation today but I have a bunch of stuff to do. So I should get motivated I guess.
Ryan has tball tonight and I am toying with the idea of missing it so I can run but that is giving me some guilty feelings so Im not sure what I will do. I am having subway for lunch and I have to decide what to make for dinner. I really need to get some quick recipes together to use once tball is in full swing and dh's hours change. Otherwise it could become a fastfood disaster.
Enjoy your long weekend, Lindsay. Hope you were able to get your run in today too. It's tough when the mom-guilt kicks in, but remember, we are important too, and deserve to take some time and get our exercise in.

I had an MRI on 3/22. It looks normal except for...
"very small subcortical stress-related cyst posterior lateral aspect hemeral head". They say that should not be causing the pain and motion restriction I am having.

I have an Appointment with an Orthopaedist on 4/20. Should I see him or a neurologist? Any thoughts, ideas to help with the pain which is especially bad when I sleep...etc.

Things I do at home...ice, aleve, ibuprofen. Nothing seems to be helping.

Thanks!
Nancy
I think seeing the orthopedist is a good next step, and getting his recommendations, and maybe some advice on what the chiropractor has been doing too. Maybe some PT, instead of the chiro might help to strengthen the muscles. Hope you get some relief soon.

Oh, its him, totally him. ;) That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :lmao:
:lmao: Of course it is. I thought of you when I heard about the new west coast cruise ports. I did peruse the website, and the hawaii sounds amazing, but I need to do a shorter cruise first. Oh, and of course, I didn't look at any prices. :rotfl: Gotta get me some lottery tickets.

Okay, so who wants to join a journaling challenge with me? Should we do it here? or set up a new thread where everyone can check in? I think, so far, Kathy is on board with me. I'm not sure if CC is game. Who else? Anyone? Bueller? ......... Bueller?

I so need this!! I think 2 weeks is a perfect start, and hopefully we'll get so into the routine, we'll all turn in to Pjlla's!!!

Would you believe that I'm actually here today? I hope I don't give any one a heart attack by chiming in for the first time since VERY early in this game.
Hello, Connie!! Great to see you back.

So the QOTD Thursday 4/7/11 is Do you measure progress without the scale and what do you use? You can use the answers provided or use your own.

I measure progress without the scale by...

-- How my clothes fit
-- Using other numbers (body fat, BP, etc.)
-- Monitoring my energy levels
-- Assessing my emotions and self-esteem
-- None of these- I only use the scale.
-- All of the above.

BRB with replies. :flower3:
How my clothes fit, energy level which is closely related to my activity level. If I'm exercising, I definitely have more energy.

I wish I had the discipline to journal everyday! I usually begin well and then forget a snack...then a meal....then an entire day. I've gotten back on that food journal horse soooo many times. So, I am inspired to begin again!! Thanks for the support (and the challenge!
So we'll plan on your for our 2 week journalling challenge?

So now we have, Cam, CC, Dona, Pamela, Karen, and me. Any one else want to join us!!!!???

Prayer, pixie dust, and fingers crossed for the news from the scale tomorrow.
...........P
:littleangel:pixiedust:

Good evening everyone. I'm need to go to work early, so I wanted to catch up here tonight. We had a good evening, went to the park with the scouts, and played tennis and kickball. The boys were all well behaved, and since they've all earned thier bear badges, I think the remainder of the year we'll try to keep them active for our den meetings.

I just saw 80 degrees in the forecast for monday!!! So exciting. The weekend looks warm too, around 60. I think spring is really here now.

Thank you Lisa for coaching this week, and all the sparkpeople links. You are the spark-princess. princess: I do enjoy reading them, but don't tend to go over there myself, and I should. I'm going to try and get all 7 days of the hh points by reading on sparkpeople. Such great articles they have there.

Good luck to everyone on the scale tomorrow and this weekend. Hope we are all happy with our numbers, and if the numbers are not cooperative, remember all the non-scale ways we all can measure our success.

Have a great friday.:)

Wow, guess it's time to join the conversations here!

I have missed having the time to answer the QOTD's and keep up with everyone!

I am suprised at being the BL last week! I did put on 5 lbs on vacation but 3 came off pretty quick. Fessing up here... I am just under 5ft. tall and pretty much at my maintain weight, so 3 lbs is a decent percent loss.

Have no idea what tomorrow's number will be. I am still not sure about my "maintain" diet.

I am scheduled to teach 8 Jazzercise classes next week, so I should be able to keep the numbers where I want them.

I have to say it was REALLY great to go on a beach/cruise vacation and be happy with myself in a swimsuit. I got nice and tan too, which doesn't hurt.

The trip was indulgent to say the least. We did a 7 night Eastern Carib on the Magic followed by 8 days in Orlando hitting Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Discovery Cove, and Sea World. My parents took our kids to Kennedy Space Center too.

Here's a pic or two (or 4...):

Can't beat Palo. YES, I had the chocolate souffle!

My mom and I with our Formal night dates!

Pirate night with the family.

sc01f5f608.jpg

Discovery Cove. We swam with fish, rays and dolphins, but the aviary was super too. This strange bird roosted on me!

So back to reality. Still waiting for the weather to warm up here. My tan's fading!

Marcy

Good Friday morning Teams. We made it to Friday :cool1::cool1:

I have 1 week until spring break. I can't wait.

Yoga last night was great. I was really into it last night and was able to do a couple of moves that I couldn't do last week. I have a lot of trouble with balancing moves and did a couple last night better than I ever have:banana:

We don't have anything planned again this weekend. I do want to start to dismantle the family room so we can paint next week. We are planning to paint it a pale blue.

Stinasmom great pictures. Glad you had a good vacation

mikamah sounds like a fun scout meeting.

BernardandMissBianca I am so glad that my ds's did not do track. ALl those meets make for a long day.

Disneywedding2010 :dance3::dance3:Time to party. Congrats on finishing your class and your degree.

Hi to everyone else. Hope your weigh in goes well. I will be weighing in later.

Have to finish breakfast.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Good morning, everyone! I am happy to be this week's coach and I'll be back later to catch up but wanted to post the QOTD.

Since I injured my knee in July 2009, I pretty much had to give up running and speedwalking and find new ways to get activity in every day. It has been an interesting experience and it has resulted in finding lots of fun ways to workout.

QOTD for Friday April 8:
Tell us about your workout routine. Do you have a schedule of what you'll do each day? What is your favorite activity? Do you prefer to workout alone or with a friend? Have you searched out new activities to keep it diverse? Have you discovered any new activities that you have been surprised to find that you enjoy?

I finished my last individual assignment for my Bachelors degree!!

Yay that is so exciting. Congrats!!!!

I just saw 80 degrees in the forecast for monday!!! So exciting. The weekend looks warm too, around 60. I think spring is really here now.

We are not forcasted to be lower than mid 50's for the next 10 days although there is alot of rain and thunderstorms being predicted. Yay well at least it will still be warmer....April showers bring May flowers.:flower3:

I have to say it was REALLY great to go on a beach/cruise vacation and be happy with myself in a swimsuit. I got nice and tan too, which doesn't hurt.

Hi Marcy! You looked wonderful in your pics. Thanks for sharing them. It looks like you had a lots of family. Your family is beautiful.

Yoga last night was great. I was really into it last night and was able to do a couple of moves that I couldn't do last week. I have a lot of trouble with balancing moves and did a couple last night better than I ever have:banana:

That is a great NSV dona. Good for you.:thumbsup2

Good morning, everyone! I am happy to be this week's coach

Thanks for coaching this week Cam. Lisa thanks for being our coach this past week too. I loved all the spark people articles.

*****************************************************

Well I didnt get my run in last night but I did run to and from the baseball field. The only this is its only about 1/4mile each way. I did fun fast though.;) Today starts my day of nuttiness. In about an hour we will be off and running and probably wont stop until 10 tonight. It should be a fun day off so I am not minding all I have to do.

It looks like the scale is slowly going down this week so hopefully I can contain myself over the weekend and see a loss on monday.

Good morning all. I've been MIA and I'm 2 lbs in the past 2 week. Short version, death in the family, (Warning TMI coming), a terrible UTI, and I haven't had a cycle for 6 months so I took a week's dose of provera and am waiting for it to started. I am so bloated and I can actually see my stomach more rounded! I'm hoping once it starts those 2 pounds will come right off but that's probably just wishful thinking! My vacation is now 2 weeks away and I had hoped to be at least at my goal (4 lbs lower than now). I"m really hoping I can make it happen!
