Hi I have heard that there has been another problem with BTMR and that it is down. Anybody any idea what the problem was and how long is it going to be down. Hopefully not long we are going to DL in 67 days not that we are counting
Thanks

It sounds like it could open up pretty soon, but I can't say for sure.

I just logged on to Disneyland.com to check info for our September trip and Big Thunder is listed as closed. This was not the case yesterday when I checked so I am wondering if something has just devleoped and they have decided to close it indefinitely. I plugged in dates in October just out of curiosity and it is listed as closed then as well, so who knows! I wish they would get it up and running since it's always a family favorite.

It is also listed as closed for refurbishment through the rest of July and all of August. It is possible that they just got around to updating the Disneyland.com website today, just in case it is down for more than a few weeks.

I think that if Disney planned on keeping the ride down for the rest of summer, that info would have leaked out to the public by now. But that's just my opinion.

Until OSHA is done with their investagation and disneyland corrects anything that is needed to be corrected it will remain closed. I would not expect to see it open "soon."

I heard that they've actually started testing, so it very well may open soon.

:( Looks like we will just have to keep hoping for the best!!!

With Space Mt. and the castle down too, lines will be long at the

rest of the rides!! Hope nothing else breaks down!!

Hi all! We were at the park on thu and fri and I asked a cast member about Big Thunder. I was told that it is closed indefinately. He thinks they will probably end up replacing the ride system (like they ended up doing with Matterhorn a while back). With all the catch up they are trying to play in preparation for the 50th, it will be a miracle if they get it back open anytime before then.

I am trying to a big, mature grown up about this but being a Disney obsessed freak I am so disappointed! We will be there in September and December and its always a family favorite. Matterhorn is down for our September trip which I have known all along but I consoled myself that we could do BTM. Safety first, safety first, safety first. I will say that about 10,000 times and maybe it will help! Can't believe after what happened last September I even have this selfish attitude.

Can anyone confirm this? It is bad enough with the increased pathway traffic caused by Space Mountain being down, but add BTMRR to the list and it will be awful this summer (plus disappointment in missing my favorite ride). I am starting to think that we might have better ways to spend $3000+ this summer.

No Matterhorn, no Space Mountain, no BTMR, I guess I'll have more time for other rides when I'm there in September.

AlanM, I think the matterhorn is OK, so far anyway. That was last

year that it was down. We cancelled a trip we were planning for

last year because too many rides were down, now it looks like

the same thing. Guess we shouldn't of got 5 day hopper passes

and went to Universal one day!!!

What the D.O.S.H?

Its mentioned in the update.
I believe it is Depart of Safety and Health. These guys have to say it is ok to run the ride. They will check the ride and Disney Training.

They've been testing since the day after the accident, with CM's telling people it will be open "hopefully soon... maybe tomorrow". That's what we were told the day before we left, which was a week ago.

I just got back a few hours ago and Thunder is still closed and according to a few CMs itll still be awhile as the problem is now known but its not a very easy fix to make so itll be a few weeks-

The silence from anyone official at Disney should be a clue. I don't think the ride is coming back anytime soon, and BTMRR may go right into refurb in preparation for next year. But don't expect Disney to come out and say that right in the middle of summer. Most likely they would announce this near the end of August.
