So I got our bands and in my excitement to set them up, I ripped the backing off of the wrong band. My DH's band is now child-sized. Whoops. If I just switch DH's band with DS's band, is that going to be a problem? I can't believe I did that! :worried:

Anybody? Well, I realized it fits me so I was thinking about just switching my band to him. I know his name is still attached to the small band but do you think I'll get a hard time over it? I doubt they'll send me a new band since we are leaving in three weeks. Should I just leave it and try our luck when we get there or should I call and explained what happened. Feeling very stupid right now.

It shouldn't be an issue. When you get in to the parks, you'll scan your fingerprint to your band and that's when it really links you to it. If you all have the same reservations, it shouldn't matter anyway. But for all I know, they could have made some changes since I've last been. If you have any issues, they'll be able to take care of it there. MM+ has only been in full swing for less than a year. They expect hiccups.

Ah don't feel stupid. Things happen. Is it a must that your husband actually wear the MB ? If not, I would just leave everything as is in MDE and not try switching anything around. If he wants to wear it then just switch out and let Mike wear Jane and vice versus, still not trying to re-assign anything in the computer.

Oops - and we almost had a similar situation when my younger dd almost modified my older dd's band in the same way!

You will need the appropriate persons band (or park ticket) for park entrance to coincide with the finger scan but after that if your dh and ds want to switch magic bands that will be fine. I would not switch genders as the CM's can see the name associated with the MDE account when you scan for FP+ (not the name you assigned the band!). Your dh can also just keep the small band in his pocket or on his belt loop if that works for him. Your DH can also use his park ticket for FP+ if he doesn't want to use the small band but he will need his band to open the room or charge back to the room.

Alternately -
When you check in if you explain the situation you may be offered a standard grey magic band for your dh. You can also purchase a new magic band for your dh and link it to his pass and your resort reservation for around 13.00 IIRC.

If you didn't sign for the bands, just call Disney, tell them you never received them and have them send out replacements...or you could just call and explain exactly what happened and they'd probably send you a replacement. ;)

I would try to get it fixed, otherwise you are going to have confusion down the road. You can't switch your husbands and childs bands, because they would see your husband was trying to enter the park with a childs ticket (assuming your son is under 10). The easiest thing might be to just have the front desk replace your husband's band with a generic grey one. Or buy him a new one.

ITA :thumbsup2 Everybody needs to use their own band. Like DebbieB said, get a free grey replacement or buy a new colored one.

Another option is for him to not wear it but maybe just attach it on his belt loop or if wearing a lanyard, attach it there. If you are carrying a bag, another option is to hook it to the strap of your bag & pop it off as needed.

I wouldn't think it would be an issue as long as, like a previous poster said, the fingerprints are scanned with the bands swapped. Also, if your party has different FP+ reservations, be sure that the rides they want to ride are associated with the right (swapped) bands.

You can always double check at the front desk when you check in. The worst thing I can think of that would happen would be they give your husband a new (gray) band.

If your DH doesn't have his heart set on wearing the MB around his wrist.... he could alternately attach it to a lanyard and wear it around his neck. Or attach it to a strap that's around his belt loop and tuck the MB inside a pocket. Others here might have other suggestions as not everyone is comfortable having something around their wrist all day and thus some have found creative alternative means of keeping the MB on their person.

I 100% disagree with people who say it will not be an issue. For me it would be an issue of inconvenience, which would make my trip less magical. It you child is under 9, it will look like you are trying to have an adult use a child's ticket, which you may have to explain over and over. Also, your husband will not have charging privileges on DS's band, but DS would on DH's band. I would totally call and see if they will send a replacement. Could you make it work? Sure. But would I want to deal with the hassle of explaining and not being able to charge - nope.

The solution is actually VERY simple. You use your band, Son use his band and get the front desk at check in to link a grey band to husband. Done with no issues. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I didn't see anyone who said it won't be an issue - and yes as previously mentioned everyone needs to use their own band or park ticket to enter the park most of us made that clear!

As for FP+ dh can just use his park ticket, his band or even sons band as that won't show adult/vs child just the name on the band.

For charging DH can use his own band or his sons to charge if they chose to enable charging privileges to the child and set the pin for the family. My kids have charging privileges and have never had an issue if the enter the pin correctly.

In the OP's position however I would
1 - ask for a replacement band for DH at check in (it will be grey!)
2 - purchase him a new band at the resort gift shop and activate it at the front desk.
3 - have him just use his park pass for admission and FP+ and his (now child size) band for room entry and park charging.

I wasn't trying to be rude - I do see replies that indicate it would not be an issue, and I also see ones that say it will. As I said, I disagree with those who say it won't.

Second - genuine question - my children under 10 are not allowed pin code via online check in. I was unaware you could override this and allow young children charging privileges, but I would like to let one of my sons have them. If anyone knows how, I'd love to hear how to set that up.

Of course, my assumption was OP's child was under 10 (since most older children would not have the extra plastic on the band removed), but if her child is 10 or older, I suppose it is really just their names that would be swapped.

Bad idea. These are tracked packages. If they don't show up, the deliveryman takes the heat. With so simple a fix why would you do this.
41 years as a UPS man makes me not like your suggestion.

Why not call and see what Disney suggests. I hardly think you're the first person to accidentally rip off the gray part unintentionally.

It cool and I didn't mean to be "snarky" either but rather just answer the question from the op with what I thought would be helpful info!

My kids have always had charging privileges pre and post MB, if you can't do it online then just set that up at check in and make sure the child knows your pin. FWIW you can't set limits so be sure they can handle your "family rules".

With regard to FP+ the age on the pass doesn't matter the CM just sees a name and a green (go) light or a blue (no go) light.

MY 17 year old dd removes the extra plastic as does my sister in law in order for the band to fit, my 19 year old dd is fine without removing it as am I.

Thanks for all the suggestions- I am done freaking out now. ;) I'll call and see if I can get a replacement, if not- we'll just get a grey one when we get there. No worries- just a little overexcited I guess. DISNEY!!!! :cool1:

Agree. Why blame the delivery person...:confused3
