While we are on the subject- I'm going to a focus group next week. They are paying me $80 for 2 hours of my time. The "focus" is bras, for women that wear a 40 or larger. I'm hoping someone is coming out with something pretty, supportive and affordable!

I need to get in on this group.. lucky you!

HLB---You'll have to pm me when you're done with who to look for!

I also would like something pretty but mainly supportive without coneheads!

On a side note...2bemarried - youre super pretty! Beautiful skin!!! :thumbsup2

Anyways... I have 36/38 C's & D's - ummm, kinda like jeans - never the same size. Ive found the Maidenform® One Fabulous Fit™ are BY FAR, my favorite bra's in the whole wide world. They keep the girls happy, perky and looking towards the sun ;)

I checked out the website and they come in *big girly* sizes : http://www.maidenform.com/catalog/search_command.cmd - and theyre only $12 - wow! :thumbsup2

I just find with these, I dont have to adjust - they stay put - they hold 'em in place, and theyre comfy. I truly love these. :lovestruc

Or - you can take my g/f's suggestion. She said she was gonna get both her nipples pierced with itty bitty loops and thread clear fishing line, through the loops, up and around her neck and VOILA! Perky all the time. L :rotfl: L!!! :joker:

Cathryn, do you buy these online, and if not, where did you find them?

I see you *can* order them online...

Although - I go to Kohl's.

I'm another big girl. I need to be re-fitted since I lost some weight but I'm a 44DDD currently. I hate it. I've been a D cup since I was 13 :guilty:

My favorite bra was discontinued last year by Bali and unfortunately I am in desperate need of new ones.
If you want a good lift bra for a night out I highly recommend Lane Bryant's flaunt bra. I look so much thinner in it because it is the first bra to actually lift these things. I can actually wear a DD in that bra. It's not comfy after a few hours but it's definitely worth it for a night out.

I just checked out figleaves.com and saw some goddess bras that looked promising. My aunt has purchased some of their bras and raved. I hate buying new bras over the internet though and my size is too big for virtually all local stores

Anyways... I have 36/38 C's & D's - ummm, kinda like jeans - never the same size.

CathrynRose, I am the same way! I have bras that are 36C, 36D, 38C, and 38D - all depends on the style and brand - as far as jeans go - I have 10s, 12s, and even 14s[gulp!] - again - all depends on the style and brand. Makes it hard to order from a catalog, huh?

In my family they are referred to as the "Darden D's" :rotfl: The largest cup I ever could find was a FF and it was too small so I have no clue what size I actually wore. Dolly Parton had nothing on me. I had a reduction and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Has anyone else experienced the big girls = stupid ho phenomenon? Seems like every guy out there thought he had a right to touch me. In the 80's, before sexual harassment legislation, I was the butt of everyone's jokes at work, at school, pretty much everywhere. Having biguns ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Okay ladies, I know I don't belong on this thread being a 36B, but, sorry, it's like a train wreck--I just can't look away. Sorry. I used to wish for big girls, but these threads today have TOTALLY cured me! :teeth:

CathrynRose--I wear these Maidenform bras also and mainly get mine at Kohl's--they run about $18 depending on if there is a sale or not. BUT....did you know that they sell 2-packs (or maybe they are 3-packs) of these at Costco? They work out to be $12 a bra and Costco seems to carry a good variety of sizes. Sorry, though, not anything larger than a D.

I like this bra and find it comfy but it is not as supportive as my VS Ipex bra (of course it is half the price)!

What was the name of that bra that Oprah did a whole show on? Starts with an "M". Also, I have heard that Wacoal bras are the best for big ones!! I see them often at Nordstrom and they hardly ever have any in the "B" cups but seem to explode with variety with the "D" cups.

This thread was calling my name. I hate bra shopping. Nothing fits!

I laugh at Victoria's Secret. I say that Victoria's secret is that she doesn't make bras for women who really need them.

I am hard to fit. I've tried Wacoal -- thought I would spend the bucks if they fit nice and NONE of them fit me. The woman at Nordstrom who was helping me was surprised. I tried Lane Bryant and they didn't fit me right either. I didn't have alot of time or I would have tried more styles to see if I had any luck.

My pet peeve is that very few bras lay flat to my skin between my breasts. I know it's supposed to, but the underwire there is never by my skin. anyone else?

I have that problem with a couple of styles, Beth. My biggest problem is the "wire bulge" in the center of the bra where the underwire meets (you know where the bow normally is?). It always sticks out and looks so obvious unless I am wearing a deep V neck

On top of already having larger-than-normal breasts, I am now breast feeding! My lactation consultant measured me, she had to double check the chart three times when she saw "H" as my size. Now, I don't know if that's completely accurate, but I'll be glad when my son is weaned.

And as hard as it is to find bras for big busted girls, try finding bras for big busted breastfeeding girls! Anyone have advice? The local nursing mom's shop has some, but they are expensive.

Well, if you don't mind me sharing my "smaller" miseries:

My problem is that my ****s are not close together. Many bras won't fit and I get ****flesh hanging over the sides of my bra. Again, I'm not a big woman but I guess my ribcage and shoulders are broad and the girls are quite separated. It is impossible for me to create cleavage even though there's "enough" there to do so. The Maidenform and IPEX that I wear are "okay" but, really, the cups are a bit to close together for me.

Anyone else have this problem?

(raises hand)Me! Me! I know just what you're talking about.

My girls are sort of on the big side of regular or maybe the small side of big - I'm a 36 or 38 B or C. I have major "spreadage" issues. I don't know if the two of them just can't get along or what, but one likes east and one likes west and ne'er the twain shall meet. I hate that thing you're describing where the "extra" hangs over the side.

I wish I could suggest a good bra for this problem, but I haven't really found one yet. Anybody else?

Oh, I'm not alone. Fortunately, mine haven't started looking in different directions :lmao: but they apparently don't like hanging out together.

In the past, I actually have found bras that worked out well but as you probably know, as soon as you find something that works, they discontinue it. I used to have really good luck with front-hook bras. They did wonderfully. Then they started only making them in the racer-back style. Now I don't mind wearing racer back, but in my work clothes (which the necklines are sometimes low or scooped) the brastrap shows too much. I also hate the look of a racer back bra through a nice blouse.

Victoria Secret and Maidenform used to both make front-closure bras with regular straps. No more.

the Le Mystere Tisha bra is 66.00!!!!!!!
You know what, if you got big girls, you REALLY need to be buying the $66.00 bra.

I don't mean to sound harsh but I have a few co-workers with me who are very large and you can just tell they are wearing a bad fitting bra. It ruins every shirt they wear and they whole way their appearance comes off. Then you see someone who obviously has found the "right" bra and the support looks great.

I would think that, while pricey, the $66.00 bra would be worth it for the comfort and fit factor, rather then going through all the bad-fitting $20 bras.

Well thank the fates that my 36D/38C tatas do just fine with 25.00 bras YIKES! if they were any bigger I would have to consider making the investment, as I know what you mean by the need for support that some ladies have - but 66.00? Times 7?[I like to have a bra for every day of the week - kinda like day of the week undies when I was a kid - know what I mean?] :lmao:
